My ratings disppeared completely. I got them back in browser mode (pressed u) but not in full frame. How do I get them back in full frame as well?

Launch Reader, click on View -> Zoom and select the preferred mode. You can also select the Full screen mode by pressing Ctrl + L on keyboard.

Viewing images full frame in iBooks

How do I enable images I have inserted in iBook Author so that when double tapped they go to full frame when viewing?
When I preview on my iPad, and double tap the image nothing happens.

I only have PE 3 so there may be some differences in 6. Perhaps someone will correct me if I'm wrong. You need to change the "Canvas" size.
Open the picture in Editor. Click on Image/Resize/Canvas size.
Leave the Anchor centered. Set the Height to the same as the Width. Select Black for the Canvas extension color. Click OK.

Star Ratings disappear after ACR and saved as jpegs

I apologize in advance if this topic has come up before and I've somehow missed it. I've recently experienced an anomaly regarding the star ratings that I apply to our RAW files in Bridge CS3. Generally we'll star the RAW files while the client is still on the set to get their favorite picks. We then will batch process all of the files and save as HiRez jpegs. The client's picks then go into a "Favorites" folder and the rest into one we call "More" just in case the client finds that their picks don't jive as well as they thought they would in their layout. So, that being said, recently we've had two occasions where "some" of the ratings didn't make it through to the processed files. We're running both a G4 with Tiger and a G5 with Leopard. Both systems have the latest updates. The most recent occurrence happened on the G4, and I believe the other time it was on the G5, though I can't be totally certain. We use both machines to batch process the images.
Any help or insight would be extremely appreciated!

It could be possible that the cache had no time to rebuild, have you tried to purge the cache for folder using the tools menu. Also whenever something is behaving other then before in Bridge you should also try to refresh the preferences with holding down option key when restarting Bridge. After this don't forget to reset the prefs to your wishes.

ITunes 11 - why no cover in title view and no infos in artist view???

Guys really, you keep messing up iTunes from version to version. I think I will finally move to Songbird or other software.
Why do you always have to remove functions people use and like in iTunes.

In iTunes 10 you removed Covers from the list view and introduced album list view which was essentially the same, you just couldn't dynamically resize covers anymore! Totally useless. So ok.... got used to small covers and got over it.. it was faster in handling my huge library.

In iTunes 11 you rename list view to title, cover view to album and album list to artist. Remove the option to scale covers even from album view and oh..... you simply removed cover flow and the beautiful full sceen view of it... oh .. and in the new artist view I can only see title, artist, rating and the year....

Now I have NO view anymore which displays the information on tracks, like producers, comments and so on WITH a cover. Why can't you just add the option to titles view to show a cover column????
Or let people display more information in artist view....
Glad I have NO iphone so I can switch back to iTunes10 at least untill I found another software that doesn't make it's users angry everytime an update comes in.
Sadly, no official apple guy will read this and even consider thinking about changing stuff... but at least I did something for my frustration with writing this post....

Um, yeah. We know, HappyMedium27, that you can click on the miniscule thumbnail of the album artwork and a get a bigger rendering of the artwork along with some basic controls. I am guessing at least 90% of the posters here are aware of that. Although it sounds from your post like you personally just discovered it, that iTunes feature has been around for a long time.
I hate to state the obvious, but apparently someone is going to need to set you straight. That's not CoverFlow. This thread is about CoverFlow.
I use it, and so do all of these other people. Sooo, I think you may be missing the point just a little.

Problem with Cover Flow full screen view in 10.6

I like to use the Cover Flow full screen view in iTunes on my monitor. Since upgrading to iTunes 10.6 Cover Flow full screen view will revert to Cover Flow standard view between each song. This did not occur with any previous version of iTunes. Is there a setting that will prevent Cover Flow automatically switching back to standard view from full screen view?

I guess I am the only one experiencing this issue of Cover Flow full screen view collapsing to standard view when a song within an album or playlist changes. This began in 10.6 and has continued in 10.6.1. At least I have not experienced the more serious issues others have with 10.6.

Letterbox effect not working in full screen viewer 10.1.2

Hi,
Just updated to 10.1.2 and now the letterbox effect is not visible if i view in full screen but is working in normal interface viewer.
Instead if I keep a png cinemascope 2:35:1 on top of all the layers... in normal viewer its fine. but if i view in full screen (viewer) the cinemascope does not work on the top and only on the bottom it is visible in unusual size...

hi,
try putting a letterbox effect on any clip... it works well in the viewer display.. but when i go full screen... the letterbox effect does not work properly... the cinemascope is not visible on top but only on the bottom in an unusual size.
so instead if i put a png overlay image on top layer in timeline as a cinemascope... i get the same problem if i go full screen...
Pl. try the letterbox effect option and let me know if this is an issue with the software of is it specific to me ?

T3i sensor size vs. full frame and how does that effect lens measurements?

I am new to both photography and the T3i camera. I have been reading Jeff Revell's book "Canon EOS Rebel T3i / 600D: From Snapshots to Great Shots". In chapter two he talks about "Lenses and Focal Lengths". In discussing wide-angle lenses he says
"As for which lenses would be considered wide angle, anything 35mm or smaller could be considered as wide."
Latter he discusses normal lenses and says
"The normal lens for full-frame and 35mm cameras is the 50mm lens, but for the T3i it is more in the neighborhood of a 35mm lens."
I understand that there is a 1 / 1.6 ratio between the T3i and a Full Frame camera. In the first quote does the 35mm refer to the T3i measurement or a full frame measurement?
Is there a standard nomenclature to indicate if you are specifying a "full frame" value verses the T3i value? If so, what is it?
When I look at one of my lenses, say the 18-55mm lens, is this the T3i measurement or the standard full frame?

The fast answers are:
When he mentions the 35mm as the basis for determining what's "wide" he is referring to the APS-C crop-frame size sensor.
There is no nomenclature to indicate if you are "full frame" vs. "crop frame" on a lens because all lenses are reported in true focal lengths. There is a nomenclature to indicate if the lens was designed to only project an image circle onto the sensor which is large enough for "crop frame" ... which is what the "EF-S" lens is. If the lens is for "full frame" (which also works on all crop-frame) then it will have the designation "EF" for most lenses, but Canon also has a few specialty lenses such as the "TS-E" (tilt shift) and "MP-E" (macro photo) lenses which also provide full-frame sensor coverage. Incidentally... this is just Canon's way of tagging a lens... Nikon uses the terms "FX" and "DX" (for full frame and crop frame respectively). Everyone has their own tag. Just remember that focal lengths reported are true (well... there's a TINY bit of round-off allowed) and ignore the sensor size.
Here's the background which may help you understand why this is.
The "normal" focal length is based on the human eye, and to understand it, it's easier to think in terms of "angle of view" rather than "focal length."
If you sit and stare straight ahead without moving your eyes or head to "look around", there is an area of vision that the average person can see (and it does vary), but the "angle of view" for that area is about 40 degrees (horizontally). Of course our vision doesn't present our brain with a nice little rectangular image... it fades and is irregular, but it's generally accepted that the angle of view covers about 40 degrees.
The LENS that provides 40 degree angle of view coverage on a "full frame" camera turns out to be a 50mm lens. Images taken with such a lens will seem neither stretched out nor compressed... they'll seem "normal" to your brain. Also, if you can see an object without having to look around to take in the view, then your camera can "see" it with that lens.
A "full frame" camera is one which has a sensor size which is approximately the same as a single frame of 35mm film. The dimensions are roughly 36mm x 24mm.
There are many different crop frame sizes, but for DSLR cameras, the most popular (by far) is the APS-C size. This means the sensor is roughly the same size as a single frame for the "Advanced Photo System - Classic" film. You can think of this as being roughly 21mm x 14mm (although it varies by a just a few millimeters -- on your camera it's really 22.3 x 14.9mm).
If you were to use a movie projector and movie screen and you projected an image so that it fit perfectly on a 12' x 8' screen and called that "full frame", then a "crop frame" would be derived by shriking the movie screen down to about 8' wide by about 5-1/3' tall but (and here's the key) without doing ANYTHING to the movie projector. Essentially that means you're projecting an image intended to fit ona 12x8' screen... but the real screen is smaller. What happens to the part of the image that doesn't fit on the screen? It just spills off the sides and is lost. That is EXACTLY what happens inside a crop-frame camera.
Canon EOS "EF" lenses are designed to project an image large enough to fill a full-frame sensor ... so when used on a crop-frame camera some of that image just spills off the sides. This means that if your lens was providing a 40 degree angle of view (measured horizontally) then the crop-frame is only capturing the 26 degrees in the middle of it. If you want a 40 degree angle of view again... you'll need to change lenses.
And this is where your author suggests a 35mm lens is "normal" for a camera with an APS-C body. The math actually works out in the neighborhood of a 31mm lens, but nobody actually makes a 31mm lens... and a 35mm focal length (commonly available) is pretty close. Also 28mm lenses are commonly available and are ALSO pretty close. It's my personal opinion that 28mm is probably a bit more normal than 35mm, but that's because as an avid amateur astronomer, I am fairly used to looking through Plossl design eyepieces which provide a 50 degree apparent angle of view and my eye actually can see the edges of the frame, but if I go a bit wider... I can no longer see the edges of the field without "looking around" (regardless... 40 degrees seems to be the established norm and THAT is the value that everything is based on.)
For purposes of buying lenses, the focal lengths are NOT converted or adjusted in any way. For example, Canon makes "EF-S" lenses designed specifically to work with their crop-frame bodies. So when the kit lens that comes with the camera says it is a zoom with an 18-55mm focal length range... it really is 18-55mm regardless of sensor size. (Canon isn't multiplying or dividing focal lengths and putting a different value on the box just because it's intended for a crop-sensor camera.)

Yes, AppleTV CAN do full-frame 4:3 at 480p

I just verified that the AppleTV CAN display full-frame 4:3 aspect ratio at both 480i and 480p. I have a a fairly old (circa 2001) Sony KP-53HS10 rear projection TV that will switch between 4:3 (standard definition TV aspect ratio) and widescreen 16:9 (the latter supports 1080i and works well with the the AppleTV and content from the iTunes store). However, what I found when running in widescreen mode is that all of my 4:3 content was both letter-boxed and pillar-boxed (black bars on top/botton and sides). Well, that's okay (and somewhat expected) but it doesn't use the full area of the display which makes such video smaller than it could be (since full-frame 4:3 would fill the entire screen without black bars).
So, I switched to 4:3 mode on my TV and set the AppleTV to 480p. Well, that almost works except now the aspect ratio is incorrect and there are black bars on the sides (but not on the top/bottom) and everything is too tall and thin (i.e. the video is distorted).
Well, then it occurred to me that maybe all I had to do was encode some standard definition material in a 16:9 aspect ratio to correct for the above playback distortion. That works, I encode at 854x480 and set my TV to 4:3 and the AppleTV to 480p and I get full-frame 4:3 playback that looks mighty good (I suspect that it would compare favorably to a 4:3 DVD, assuming that you have a good quality original).
I just transfered a two-pass, de-interlaced, best quality H.264 encoding at 5Mbps (produced with QuickTime Pro) at the above 854x480 output resolution and it seems to work fine. One minor issue, however, since the AppleTV is expecting to run in a 16:9 format and I've set my TV to a 4:3 mode some of the graphics in the AppleTV user interface are distorted (slightly). However, my 854x480 content is NOT distorted so I'm getting what I want for my 4:3 video, full resolution that fills the entire display of my 4:3 big-screen TV.
I suspect that the same technique might work for any non-widescreen TV that can accept component video. Of course, you'll have to re-encode the video to correct for the distortion, but if you want the best possible 4:3 format experience this may be an acceptable workaround.
P.S. You should note, however, that this technique will NOT work with the video content from the iTunes store since that material is encoded in a standard-definition format and thus it will appear distorted on the AppleTV if you do NOT output to a widescreen TV.

Add the FCP widescreen matte (or one from another company)
You can adjust the aspect and adjust the position of your footage within the frame. Be careful when doing this, you have to fine tune the position adjustment or your footage can become blurry.

I accidently click for a full screen view on Firefox and now I can't undo it. My bar with tools, bookmarks, etc. is not visible. As the browser opens, the bar appears but then jumps up where it can't be reached. How do I turn off the full screen?

Aperture viewer issues after full screen view - in Browser, Split View and Viewer modes

2012 MacBook Air, Mac OS 10.8.2, Aperture 3.4.3. Everything is up to date and, as usual, has been working just fine since the last update a few weeks ago. Full screen view never caused any issues... until today.
I tried quitting and restarting Aperture. Using another Aperture library. Quitting everything and restarting my MBA... same behavior.
I went into the full screen view, edited a photo and got out of the full screen view to export it.
All of the sudden, only one line of thumbnails was showing up in my Broswer view (out of 380 pictures in that project). Looking closely at it, it seems like the Aperture now thinks that the desktop area it has to work with (the dark gray area where the thumbnails are) is larger than the aperture window because a part of photo is showing up cut off at the right edge and no slider at the bottom:

Going back to full screen view, everything looks and works as nothing has happened:
In Broswer view, if I scroll down such that the first row is out of the view, the second row of thumbnails shows up:
Now, if I scroll back up, two rows of thumbnails are shown in the viewer:
To get the third row to show up, I need to scroll down to get the top two rows out of the way and so on.
At some point I saw this weirdo but have not been able to replicate it:
Split View also has its issues - the photo itself is no longer centered and the slider at the bottom gets out of the way past the right edge of the Aperture window before reaching the end of the row of thumbnails:
Finally, when double clicking the photo in the Split View to view it by itself, once again it is not centered and cut off on the right side but there is no slider...
Any ideas? I tried looking through the Viewer-related threads on here and did not see anything close to this. Is there a way to contact Apple support? I found some form somewhere on the website, but it had a dropdown for operating system and nothing past 10.7.2 so I am guessing it is not being maintained...

When the graphical user interface is misbehaving, it frequently helps to remove the Aperture preferences apple.com.Aperture.plist from your user library, see the Aperture 3: Troubleshooting Basics on how to do this.

See if you can find a NPPDF32.DLL files in the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\)

You can set the pref plugin.expose_full_path to true on the about:config page to see the full path of plugins on the about:plugins page.
It is best not to leave that pref set to true as it exposes that full path to web servers, so reset that pref to false after you are done with the about:plugins page.
You can open about:plugins and about:config via the location bar, like you open a website (about: is a special protocol to access some build-in pages).
If you get a warning when opening the about:config page then you can confirm that you want to continue.

The Full Screen icon does not appear in Firefox 16.0.2 on Mac OS 10.6.8, and command+shift+F does not close the full screen view.

I accidentally entered full screen view and was unable to exit. The Firefox Help article at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-make-firefox-and-websites-go-full-screen?esab=a&s=full+screen+mac&r=0&as=s says I should see a Full Screen View icon in the upper right-hand corner of the Firefox window. That icon not there. I cannot find it. It does not appear in either the full screen or non-full screen views.
Further, the Help article's advice to exit full screen view by using the keyboard sequence command+shift+F does not work. I had to unplug my iMac and reboot. Firefox then opened in non-full screen view.
Ideally, hitting the Escape key would cause Firefox to exit full screen view.

I forgot one detail. This happened while I was having trouble seeing the mouse cursor (I use Apple's Magic Mouse). It had disappeared briefly. I had to drag the cursor out of the Firefox Window for it to reappear. I accidentally entered full screen view while the cursor was not visible.
