Ratings don't sync between automatically downloaded tracks

Anyone else noticing this issue? I buy a song on my iPhone. It automatically downloads in iTunes too without having to sync. Awesome. I rate the song on my phone, but when I sync with my PC, that rating doesn't carry over to the version downloaded in iTunes. Also it seems like for tracks like this, iTunes is no longer the "master library", because if I delete the track in iTunes, it shows back up again after a sync with the phone. Before, that sync would have deleted the version on the phone.  Is there a trick to this behavior that I'm missing?

yes, I am noticig the same thing.  And to make it worse the rating won't carry over even when I sync the iphone via usb.  this is a real bummer if the ratings are not going to sync up.  i did test it the other way...rate it on my mac...and the rating did show up on the iphone after a sync.
I have done a little research and a couple of years ago the issue was if you had checked "manually manage" it wouldn't sync the ratings.  That is not checked for me.
I am puzzled on this one.

  • TS3999 Calendars don't sync between Iphone and Ipad.

When a calendar entry is added from my wife's phone to mine there is no entry, but it's on my mini-pad instead. Why is it on one device and not the other? I have chosen sync and all events in settings , but is still doesn't work for both devices, only the min-pad. I can add an event manually, but can't receive any notifications on the calendar if its sent to my Iphone. Please advise, thanks.

It requires that you set up the same iCloud account on all your devices (Settings > iCloud) or at least that you share some of the calendars between you and your wife (in case that you are using two separate iCloud accounts which is by the way recommended).

  • Don't sync down Apple Music tracks please!

I think I've found the cause of many of my "it doesn't play on iOS, but does on my Mac" problems. I'd played with Apple Music a week ago. In doing that, a few of my local tracks end up with Apple Music DRM versions (I still have my old non-DRMed tracks too). When Spotify syncs a "local" track, it can pick either the DRMed version, or the non-DRMed version. You'll only find out it pulled the wrong one when playback grinds to a halt on iOS.  After removing the Apple Music tracks from the iTunes database, (they're listed under Apple Music), I was able to resync my playlist and the songs which previously wedged up started to play. Is there a place to file a bug with Spotify? Seems like it really shouldn't be sourcing "local" files that are Apple Music DRMed.

I still have not found a solution for this.  The only way to make my custom playlists accesible via Apple TV is to make sure that one of my OSX devices (iMac, MacBook) is active on the same network. The OSX device must be turned on and iTunes must be open. The AppleTV will then see the device and you can make use of the playlists.
It's a bit of a hassle though. The playlists should be accessible directly from AppleTV without needing additional devices online.

  • After resetting devices apps don't sync between iTunes and devices

    I use Windows iTunes 11.0.1.12 in Windows 8 together with an iPad 3 w/ 6.1 and an iPhone 4S w/ 6.1.1.
As my app collection grew too much I decided it was time to start over from scratch. So I deleted all apps within the iTunes library and reseted my devices, telling them to be configured as New Device when the question was asked whether I wanted to use a backup of the device. Then for a while I downloaded apps to the devices directly on the devices without using iTunes.
All seemed to be nice until I connected the iPhone to the computer to sync it, mainly for backing up the apps on the devices. But this is not happening. I can sync as often as I like, apps which I downloaded on the devices are not copied to iTunes' library when I sync the device. Likewise apps that I obtained within iTunes are not copied to the devices when I sync.
Does anybody know how I could fix this?

I have the exact same problem. Help!

  • Mail tags don´t sync between different macs

Hi, Im running mail 5.1 and I use color tags to mark mails. I have 3 Macs and the colors tags dont sync, they sync always put all tags in red. Its like old version, tag mail sync ok, but no color. Can some help me? Thank you

Unfortunately RSS feeds do not synchronize. Hopefully Apple will add this in the future. It seems as though this would be fairly simple to include so I'm optimistic that it will eventually show up. Hopefully sooner rather than later!

  • TS4083 my notes don't sync between all my mac devices

I have a combination of notes that have saved between all my devices; none of which are the same! Does anyone know how to get them to push evenly and sonsistantly amongiPhone, pad & book???

As I wrote in my first post you have to make sure that your iCloud is set up on your Mac (Settings > iCloud) and that "Notes" is enabled. Then, when you open the "Notes" app on your Mac (with Mountain Lion) you should find a column on the left hand side of the screen. There should be a label "iCloud" and under that different views like "all notes". Just drag and drop the notes which you already created locally in the iCloud "all notes" category.
As I said, there is no really good solution for the iPhone and iPad at the moment. If you set up the same iCloud account on your iOS devices (Settings > iCloud) and enabled "Notes", then you should see a a button called "Accounts" in the upper left corner when you launching the Notes app on your iPhone or iPad. For the locally stored notes on your iOS device you have to open the notes one by one, select and copy all the next. Then you have to move to your iCloud account by clicking on the "Accounts" button again and have to create a new note in the "iCloud" category. Then paste the copied text into the new note. Do that for all of your older notes.

  • Can you stop the 'Sign in to use this computer for automatic downloads' window appearing at iTunes launch?

Whenever I start iTunes, two windows appear, one after the other, asking me to sign in to use the computer for automatic downloads. Even if I cancel both windows and don't sign in, automatic downloads are still enabled, as they are if I sign in on one or two of the popups. So, to the point, is there any way of disabling these windows at the start-up of iTunes? - they're useless and slow me down xD.
    Incase you need it, I'm running a Lenovo G570 laptop on Windows 7 64-bit @ 3.10Ghz with 6GB RAM.
    Thanks in advance!

I'm seeing the same issue as well with the most current update of iTunes (10.5.3).
What makes this even more of an issue is whenever I have to do this, iTunes Match starts syncing, but never completes, so the only way for me to see my iCloud synced music is to turn off iTunes Match, turn it back on, re-log in again, then it finally shows up about 30 seconds or so later.  With each quit and re-launch of iTunes, I have to go through this whole process again to get my synced music to show.

  • Question - I don't want to auto download apps and music. Can I get rid of Icloud - or will I lose info?

    Question:
I don't want to automatically download apps/music. Can I get rid of Iclouds, or will I lose everything? I don't understand...

    I don't want to automatically download apps/music.
Just turn those options off, then.

  • Turning off 'automatic downloads'

For the last few weeks, whenever I connect my iPhone (and possibly my iPad) I get an iTunes window asking me to "enter account name and password" for 'automatic downloads'. I don't understand what 'automatic downloads' are, and iTunes Help doesn't tell me how to stop this window popping up (Help just tells me how to set up automatic downloads).
Anyone here know what it's all about, and how to stop it?

This is a feature that lets you automatically receive items purchased from other devices.  Things you buy from your computer can be pushed to your iPhone, iPad, etc.  Things you purchase on your iPhone can be pushed ot your computer, iPad, etc.
    If you don't want this:
In iTunes, go to Edit/ Preferences/ Store and turn off automatic downloads.
On all your iOS devices, go to Settings/ Store/ and turn off automatic downloads.

  • I was syncing my phone and it automatically downloaded iOS6.  Now I can't do anything, as I don't remember my password.  What do I do?  I have no phone, no access to anything.

Help!  I was syncing my phone and it automatically downloaded IOS6.  Now I can't access my applications, can't use my phone, can't do anything as I don't remember my password.  I can't even get my password!

Double tap with 3 fingers.  You've accidentally enabled the zoom feature.  You can then turn it off:  Settings>General>Accessibility>Zoom

  • Will I be able to disable the automatic icloud sync between devices?

What I want to know from looking at the keynote speech it looks like if I buy a song on my phone or ipad it will also get downloaded to my son's iphone even though he may not want the sond and vice versa. I hope there will be a way to disable the automatic sync between devices because in theory it sounds good but when you have several ios devices in the family they usually don't want to have the same music that I listen too. I have a MBA, Iphon4, and Ipad and would not mind all of them syncing together but my son's iphon 3GS does not need to be synced with the other devices. I didn't hear anything about being able to disable it and if someone knows can they let the rest of us know. Thanks.

    PopinFRESH wrote:
Yes you can disable it. Also since it's free for all of those services, and you want different content on your devices, you could just setup an Apple ID for your son so that their content will be synced among their devices and you can still benefit from all the iCloud goodness. The only downfall to this is that the content that you may want to share would have to be purchased twice. I'm hoping they add support for "Family Groups" for iCloud services so you can have a shared Apple ID for content on up to 10 devices while also giving the flexibility for having sub-ID's to differentiate who's devices are who's.
That is exactly what I am talking about. I know you can share your purchases through several devices and some of the app store stuff my son and I share with no problem. I just hope that sharing is ok. Also using picture flow could be bad too. What if I want to take a picture that I don't want on any other device. This is all good but sounds like they didn't think this through all the way before implementing it. I am a mobileme subscriber and have been for 2 years and I liked iDisk. There was nothing wrong with the way it worked as I could set up iDisk only on my devices and my son's would not be affected. Like I said good idea but for some of us we may not want stuff out on the cloud automatically.
Also I can see some folks up in arms about privacy issues just like they did with the tracking issue. I am thinking I will turn this service off on all my devices until I get more information about it after it is implemented.

  • Sync Playlists Automatically Between iPad and iPhone

    Hi all,
I've currently both devices set-up so if I download a track from iTunes pn either device it will automatically download it on both devices by turning on the automatic download.
However, if I create a playlist on my iPad it will not automatically sync to my iPhone and vice-versa.
The only way i solve this is by me syncing the iPad to my computer so it puts the playlist on the computer, then syncing my iPhone so it puts the playlist on my iPhone.
Is there an easier way whereby when i make a change in my music playlists it will automatically change this in the other device?

There is actually a way via contacts, but not a convenient one.
You have to do it one by one for your existing bookmarks in Maps.
You need a Mac to seperate those "bookmark contacts" from your regular contacts.
I use this method now instead of the Maps bookmarks.
    0. Make the necessary setting to sync your contacts with iCloud on your iOS devices (and your Mac if you want to use a "bookmark group")
    1. Open a bookmark in Maps (or search for something) then click on the i-icon
    2. Choose to put it in a new Contact (modify info as you  like)
    3. Add item for Notes with the text "bookmark"
This "bookmark contact" will now be synced through iCloud to your Mac and other iOS devices
I don't want my contacts to be cluttered with those "bookmark contacts", so I choose to create a seperate group
    4. In addressbook on the Mac do a search for "bookmark"
    5. select file --> New group from selection
    6. after you've added additional "bookmark contacts" in Maps on your iPhone or iPad you have to search and select them and then drag them to your "bookmark group" in address book on the Mac

  • I made a photo book in iPhoto and would like to transfer the book to my iPhoto on other macs and iPad.   How is this done and can it be synced between devices like photo stream.

I made a photo book in iPhoto and would like to transfer the book to my iPhoto on other macs and iPad.   How is this done and can it be synced between devices like photo stream?

You can create a Quicktime movie slideshow of the book's pages and share that. Here's how to get your book into an iPhoto slideshow and then export as a Quicktime video:
1 - While viewing the book type Command+P to start the print process.
2  - click on the PDF button and select "Save PDF to iPhoto".
Note:  If you don't have any of those options go to Toad's Cellar and download these two files:
Save PDF to iPhoto 200 DPI.workflow.zip
Save PDF to iPhoto 200 DPI.workflow.zip
Unzip the files and place in the HD/Library/PDF Services folder and reboot.
3 - select either of the files above (300 dip is used for photos to be included in a book that will be ordered).
4 - in the window that comes up enter an album name or select an existing album and hit the Continue button.
That will create a 200 or 300 dpi jpeg file of the item being printed and import it into iPhoto. Immediately select all of the photos in the new album and sequentially renumber them as "Page  " using the Batch Change ➙ Title to Text with the option to add a sequential number to each title.  This is to let you put the pages back in the correct order in the event they get sorted incorrectly.
Now you can proceed as follows: create the slideshow in iPhoto and export it out of iPhoto as a QT movie file via the Export button in the lower toolbar.  Select Size = Medium or Large (480p with iPhoto 9),
    Happy New Year
