Ration question.

I am making a DVD where the videos are 16:9, I want them to letterbox on a 4:3 TV and then fill up the entire screen on a widescreen plasma. If I chose 16:9 letterbox, will that do the trick and automatically fill up the screen on a widescreen tv and letterbox on a 4:3 or do I need to chose 16:9 letterbox and pan and scan?

If I chose 16:9 letterbox, will that do the trick and automatically fill up the screen on a widescreen tv and letterbox on a 4:3
Right, that's the way.
Hope that helps !

  • Contrast Ration Question

Amazon says the contrast ratio on these monitors, specifically the 23" is 400:1. Apple list it as 700:1. Is amazon wrong?

The newer displays have higher contrast ratios. Amazon probably didn't update their web-site.

  • I surely would like to be able to 'sort by name' feature in my bookmarks like I do on the desktop version.

In the desktop version of the firefox 'release' channel browser, you can simply choose a group of saved bookmarks, and then choose the 'sort by name' option to sort your bookmarks. I've installed the latest firefox mobile version on my lenovo ideatab A2109A tablet, and that feature doesn't exist. At this point in time there isn't even any addon available to use either. I surely enjoy using firefox on my windows computer's, and I DO realize that android is different from windows, but I would hope that someday in the near future..this 'important' feature can be added. In both the 'stock' android browser, boat browser, and also google chrome browser, this feature has already been implemented.
    Thanks,

Hi again David,<br/>I forgot to mention there is an option to provide feedback comments at http://input.mozilla.org/feedback
    It is a rational question.
I do not know the answer but comparing the size and complexity of desktop versions of Firefox with Mobile I surmise it is one or all of:
    # hardware limitations: cpu & probably most importantly RAM.<br/> On a mobile RAM is used for the static files that would reside on a hdd plus any cache, in addition to what normally has to be in RAM.
#development time & resources, this is a fairly new product
#need for compatibility on lower spec devices

  • Why can't simply launch iphoto then double click on a jpeg in a file folder

Really...???  I am a new Mac guy trying to learn about iphoto...  Mind you, with photoshop I can click on a photo file anywhere on my Mac without creating a library...  What's the necessity for a freaking library...??? First thing iphoto asks me is to do is create a library...  Why the trouble, how do I get all my photos into this library...??? Is it even worth the trouble...??? Does iphoto have the value...???

Try again to ask a rational question
If you want a windows type file manager then iPhoto is not for you - it is a photo manager using a SQLite database and it does have a learning curve - it does require a library - it is not a photo viewer
It is simple to learn - try starting with the tutroials
Or use a different program - iphoto is totally optional
Or ask rational questions and you can get help here

Problem Resolved - it is a font issue. Apparently Acrobat can't handle particular fonts and it is best to stick with a very small slection of fonts - Arial, Helvetica, Times Roman.
I haven't test a lot of fonts. If I do, I'll post there results here.

  • The ubiquitous question about disabling the "AUTOMATIC pixel aspect ration correction"....

So many people ask the question, "How do I disable the automatic pixel aspect correction" in photoshop only to get repsonses that include the manual step at turning off the correction for the current photo you're working on. Further details are also given from time to time on how this "shouldn't be a problem" or "it's only because you took a video screen grab", or even better, a debate over how it occaisionally helps. Here's the thing, it doesn't help as often as it creates an annoying step in having to go and turn it off when you open pictures that CS5 determines "need fixing" when in fact, the image becomes distorted by this automated fix, especially when this happens so much more now with cell phone pics, and as you turn off the "Auto correct" the image is no longer distorted. It is indeed RARE that this feature does anything good, and way more often that it shows a preview that is way out of whack. Why would Adobe decide that they can't compile Photoshop with this being something you can disable and only turn on for the photos you want as you open them instead of making you turn them off for when you don't (which is the more often case)? Why has this question circulated since at least CS2 on Adobe forums, and yet never been addressed any further than half hearted attempts at describing "recorded macros/steps/automations" that don't work? If I can set a default scratch disk, surely I should be able to set my default action upon opening a photo to NOT auto-correct anything?  If the guys who put Photoshop together don't agree and think "We must autocorrect everything these fools are opening", perhaps we can be allowed enough rope to hang our selves with square pixels anyway and learn our lesson the hard way? Please?

    Hi Darrell,
You've posted in the AIR forums and I think you meant this for Photoshop.  Would you mind reposting over there?
    Thanks,

  • How do I set the aspect ration for 4:3  or for 16:9?

How do I set the aspect ration for 4:3  or for 16:9 in Adobe PE12?

    PulcinellaNM
What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 12 running on? Have you updated from 12 to 12.1 Update via a project's Help Menu/Update? If not, please do so. That is all background information for now.
As for the question that you are posting....
I think we need to go a lot deeper into what you are doing. Here are some considerations
The aspect ratio setting is in the import settings. In Premiere Elements 12 Expert workspace, the project automatically sets the project preset based on the properties of the first video file that you drag to the Expert workspace Timeline. If your video's properties include a 16:9 flag, then the project settings will have a 16:9 flag (aspect ratio). If you do not want the project to set the project settings automatically, you can set the project settings yourself manually with File Menu/New/Project and then import your source video.
If a problem exists where imported 16:9 video is presenting in Premiere Elements as 4:3 instead of 16:9 (typical of the JVC .mod file issue), then you can set the pixel aspect ratio under Interpret Footage feature inside the project workspace.
At this point, I think it best for you to give more details and background behind your question so that we can be sure that we are giving you the information that you need to succeed in your projects.
If you need clarification on anything written, please do not hesitate to ask for clarification.
    Thank you.

  • WRT 1900AC and Windows 7 network naming question(s)

Background:  I had a Linksys E3000 up and running for about 5 years in a stable network environment.  The E3000 died, and I put in a new WRT 1900AC to replace it.  In the process of getting things set up correctly the main "network name" in my network displays shows up as a name assigned to a Wireless portion of my network.  The "Wired" portion shows up in diagrams, and to windows, as well as both of the main wirless bands but not as the central node between either of the wired Win7 computers and the internet  I would like to get the Windows 7 machines on my network to display the wired network name in Windows 7 as the primary network, and NOT one of the wireless ones.  Almost everything I want to be able to do is working just fine except for the network map display in Windows 7 where I have been trying to configure a "home group" that will not yield to my efforts.,
I use "suffix" notation in the naming, so my router on ethernet is .<ame>..NET, the wireless lower band is <name>...W24 upper band is <name>...W5.   I have not figured out how to get the artifacts of the "setup sequence of events" out of the Windows 7 displays in "network neighborhood" so I have a more rational picture that has Ethernet at the core and the wireless bands as additional subsidiary networks not necessarily associated with all my devices.  I know this is not technicallly a Linksys issue, but... Can I simply delete alll the neworking information in Windows 7, and reboot, and then force the computer to set up a network based on the correct network node labels. provided by the router?   I'm a bit worried that I might have to "reset" everything which would be a huge **bleep** since almost all of what I want to do is working just fine, I'm just not quite clear some times whether the process of connecting from one computer to another, or to a NAS attached to the router is going through the wired network or the wireless one where performance can be a big issue.  My Ethernet is "certified" at 1gbps which is a lot faster than the wireless networking.  Sometimes it seems that accessing the NAS attached to the router is being done "through a tiny straw, not the fast pipe in the wiered world.  I used to do a lot of NETBIOS networking in Windows "back in the day" and my network naming conventions have probably not kept up with the times, but I still have two Windows XP computers wired into my household network, and when "debugging" things I think of the Ethernet as central and the wirless portions as additional networks, not the other way around.  Unfortunately Windows 7 seemed to grab the wireless names first, probably because the machines in question both have wireless and wired connectivity built in and available in their hardware and the one that was set up and working with the old router when the new one got plugged in was used to do the initialization initially using the default sequence built into the router software.  I was able to go back and rename everything to get rid of the default names, but my Android based network monitor only works within range of the router and not when the phone is connected to the internet outside of the house.  I've never been able to get the phone support folks to help me clear that issue up either. ..  When I added the second computer, the same thing happened out of the box, Windows took the name of the first wireless network it found and put it into the network neighborhood as the device in the path between the new computer and the internet,   I can "see" the host name of the router correctly from everywhere, and map to the 1TB disk I have hung on it from all of my computers, but the Internet connection is actually an ethernet drop from a cable modem to an ethernet port on the router, not to either of the wireless bands that show up.

@zundapman Hi! What's the current firmware of your router? Make sure that your firmware is up to date with the latest version. Also, are you referring to the Windows explorer's map or the User Interface map of the router or the Network and sharing map of your computer?

  • To subclip or not to subclip, that is the question?

    Hello All,
As I continue to gain experience with FCP, one of the consistent challenges I run into is having created subclip of my master footage that is pretty close to what I want in my final production. The net result of that is when I go to add transitions, or work with the View Edit feature, I don't have much in the way of extra footage with which to work.
I believe one choice I have is to create my productions with cuts taken from the master, and then added to the timeline. The result will be (in the browser) many copies of the master, but simply containing different in and out points.
My question is whether this is a problem. I suppose I've avoided this approach as it seemed like it was less precise, and took up more disc space (I know, probably not a real issue, but coming from a time when hard drives were 20 MB, I'm stuck with an old mindset).
    Your thoughts would be appreciated.
    DG

I don't see any rational argument against using Subclips.
*1) On Roll Edits and Transitions*
If you make the In an Out points for your subclips at the same place you would put the In and Out points when capturing from tape, the created clips will be the exact same length and the ONLY way you will have the option to extend the edits past where the take ends is if you had Subclipped and then Remove Subclip Limits.
    *2) On Organization*
FCP allows you to organize and name Subclips in the exact same manner as Master Clips; if the organization of Subclips is jumbled and confusing it is because you are not using the same method of organization for the Subclips as you would for Master Clips... which there is no logical reason not to. Treat them as the same thing.
    *3) Why I Subclip*
I'm working on a short narrative film right now with an assistant editor whom I have never worked with. I had captured, logged, and organized the Master Tapes before handing the project off to my assistant. When I got the project back from him I quickly noticed he did a half-assed job and I had to go through the daily continuity log with the Master Tapes making sure I subclipped the takes he had missed. This job was much easier to do from FCP and the captured Master Tapes rather than having to rent a deck and go though the actual Tapes.
    *4) How I Subclip*
The best way I have found to make Subclips is not the In and Out method but rather using Markers. Simply open a Master Tape Clip and put a Marker at the beginning of every take. Next to the Master Tape Clips in the Browser will be a grey arrow that when expanded shows all the Markers made in that Clip. Select the Markers in the Browser and go to Modify > Make Subclip (⌘U) and BAM you're whole tape is Subclipped. The Markers will stay on the Master Tape Clips after you make the Subclips so if you ever need to resubclip a take, change the length of a subclip, or anything of the sort it is extremely easy.
That's why I would suggest using Subclips rather than not. The only reason I could see not wanting to Subclip is if you have limited Hard Drive space and you only plan on capturing printed takes.

  • Re: Rational Rose product and Forte

We use Forte 3.0 with Rational Rose 4.0 since more than one year on a
medium size project (10 developers). I have not tried Rose98 with Forte,
so what I have to say may or may not apply to Rose98.
In general I am very satisfied with the Forte support of Rose. The code
generation facilities are sophisticated. For example from one attribute
in Rose you can generate a virtual attribute and the corresponding get
and set methods which implement the virtual attribute. You can even
change the naming conventions (how to generate the name of get and set
methods). You can also model all components of a Forte application like
interfaces, events, eventhandlers, constants, domain types etc.
Since access to the Forte repository is difficult, Rose does not read
from or write to the repository. Instead you must export a plan as a
.pex file, regenerate the plan from Rose and reimport the generated file
into Forte. Rose correctly preserves the code that you have written as
well as other information like GUI layout etc. Nevertheless this process
is a bit tedious and prone to errors.
Rose can import a Forte .pex and produce a model from it ("reverse
engineering"). This works O.K. but I use it only on small prototypes
that I developed in Forte to get a "first cut" of a model. The analyzer
has only a few global options (for example whether you want to model
object-valued attributes as associations or as attributes). In addition
it names all attribute types and method parameters with fully qualified
class names so that your methods tend to have very long signatures like
    Add(input source:Framework.IntegerData):Framework.IntegerData
    instead of
    Add(source:IntegerData):IntegerData
On the other hand Rose generates correct Forte code if you use the short
form in your model. So I use Rose mainly for forward generation.
I find the combination of Rose with Forte very valuable, mostly because
Forte does not allow a convenient documentation of plans, classes and
    attributes.
If you have additional questions, I will be happy to answer them.

I'm having the same problem. The last version of Forte known to work with Rose is Forte 3.0, but I can't find that version for download.

  • Oracle 9i JDeveloper & Database & jdk 1.4 & Rational Rose 2002

I am not sure if this is the place to ask these types of questions, but i am goin to ask anyway
Here is my situation, I am doing a project with Rational Rose UML model. The program is written in Java, I wanted to use Rational Rose 2002 for UML model, JDeveloper for coding and Oracle Database
    1. After i downloaded Oracle 9i JDeveloper, the program said its certified for JDK1.3.1_02, is it safe to use JDK1.4.1_1 with it?
    2. Can i use 9i JDeveloper with Oracle 8i Database or its best to use 9i JDeveloper with Oracle 9i Database?
    3. Since Rational Rose 2002 only has Oracle 8 dataType, should i use Oracle 8i with it? or Oracle 9i will work anyway?
Please help and email me at [email protected]

    1. To run JDeveloper use jdk1.3 but you can use it to develop applications with jdk1.4
    2. You can use Oracle9i JDeveloper with Oracle8i.
    3. Oracle9i will probably work, but rational might not be able to take advantage of the latest features of the database. Check out the UML capabilities of JDeveloepr.

  • Mac book aspect ration on Plasma TV

    Hi,
I've just connected my mac book to my 42" plasma TV. It looks really good and I'm looking forward to watching films on it. However the entire desktop is ever so slightly squashed. I'm running in 1024x768. The TV can display 1280x1024 at the correct aspect ratio, however all the fonts are squashed and unreadable at this resolution.
My question is, how can I adjust the aspect ration of the mac desktop?
Or if anyone else has any tips I'd be very grateful.
    Thanks
    Rich

I would check the LG user manual to see if there is any information relating to picture size and centering controls as a way to deal with the overscan problem. Some people have been able to reduce or eliminate overscan using odd resolutions in SwitchRes X, but it's impossible to give specific advice about how to go about doing that. The only way to get that kind of advice is from someone who has been down that road with that exact TV. You may have better luck over at the AVS Forum in that case.
As for the text, it may never get any better than what you are already seeing. You are up against a few different problems in this regard. One is the matter of rectangular pixels as it relates to font rendering, and anamorphic displays in general. Another is that upscaling is taking place, namely 1280 pixels per line are being mapped into an actualy 1024 pixels of resolution. Upscaling or upsampling will never result in very good looking text. And finally, consider that 1024 x 768 native resolution is not very much resolution. Basically, that is the same resolution as an older Mac iBook screen, which was 12 inches in size. You have the same resolution on a 42-inch screen, so naturally it isn't going to look very crisp.

  • Exchange rate questions...

    Hi,
This is not exactly a ABAO question but a general SAP question.
What is the differnerce between average exchange rate 'M', buying exchange rate and selling exchange rate ?
Why do we need to use translation ration for exchange rates ?
What is the use of using direct versus indirect quotationwhile doing general settings for currencies ?
    Regards.
    Rajesh.

But what is the difference between average exchange rate, buying rate and selling exchange rate.
Does system has a way to calculate those exchange rate if we specifiy the exchange rate type or we have to input the figures in SPRO tables in that exchange rate type ?
    Regards,

  • Documents types definition rational

    Dear All,
What i expect from you all is not the "How to do" but the "Why doing that this way"
We are designing our customer system and i have been asked the following questions:
Why should we use these document types?
What is the rational of creating new ones?
I tried to find out the solution for my question over the WEB but I have not been able to resolve my issue.
    AB General document
    DG Customer credit memo
    DZ Customer payment
    DR Customer invoice
    KZ Vendor payment
    KG Vendor credit memo
KN Vendor net invoice and credit memo
    KR Vendor invoice
    SA All G/L accounts
What is the rational to choose the number of documents types to be used?
Thank you in advance for your help
    Kind regards
    M.

    Hi
Why should we use these document types ?
As already explained by MBN and Sowmya we use the different doc types
1.To differentiate the transactions posted in FI from different modules and in FI module itself.
2.To build the logic as per user requirement in respect of any particular document type
3.To identify the transactions posted from a particular module or from the same module(ex., for cash transactions we can have CJ)
4.Better not to have same document type for two types of postings ex., for postings from payroll doc type AB and for clearing document also doc type AB since differentiation between payroll documents and clearing documents becomes difficult.
Rational of creating a new one
1.To identify the nature of transactions pertaining to one particular area viz., excise etc.,we can have a new document type for example Doc Type  EX
What is the rational to choose the number of documents types to be used?
Discuss with the client and decide.
In general for customers we use doc types beginning with letter D and for Vendors we use doc types beginning with letter K and for GL documents we use SA.
