Rattling sound on speaker MacbookPro

Hi. I'm having problem with my macbook pro's right speaker. In normal volume, from system boot up sound, the.sound is terrible. Can someone help me to advice what was the service center's action to this kind of issue? Was this a known issue. My worry is that my MBP is 2 years old now. Thanks.

A PRAM reset had only a slight chance of correcting the problem, so I am not surprised at the result.
A free diagnosis is only available at Apple store genius bars so apparently that is not available in your situation.
I would try the following;  Open the MBP and check the connections to the speaker to make certain they are secure.  Though there is an element of risk, you might get a new one and replace it.  You should be able to determine the costs from the iFixit.com and Powerbookmedic.com web sites as well as the installation procedures.
Ciao.

  • Msi 5870 1gb reference design rattling sound

    Hello everyone,
I just joined MSI forum to get some help.
I have MSI 5870 1GB reference design and I had this card about a year now.
Few days ago I started to receive rattling noise coming from my 5870.
When I play intensive graphic games, I get this rattling sound once in a while. I found out that I am getting a rattling noise when I start or stop intense graphic use.
I started MSI kombuster and I get little rattling noise at the beginning and I also get rattling sound when I stop. I keep repeating to use msi kombuster to start and stop to get rattling noise.
I hold the side of the card (not the fan) with my one finger and rattling sound was gone. Rattling will come back again, but whenever I touch the card, rattling sound will be gone.
I am just worried if my fan is dying or if this is something else. I don't want to touch the fan while running. Please advice.
    Thanks in advance.

Take a cardboard tube, like from a paper towel roll, and make sure the sound is coming from the vid card.  I know you said that if you touch the card the rattling stops, but let's make sure it really is coming from the card.  Next, with the power off, pull the video card and blow it out with compressed air.  Re-seat the card firmly and re-connect the power cables.  Turn on the machine.  Does it still rattle?
Thanks for you reply. Now I have to wait for rattling sounds to come back lol. I have rattling sounds 2 or 3 times a day, so I probably have to play some games and wait for those rattling sounds again. If I get a rattling sound again, I'll use paper towel rolll to make sure it's the card.
I don't have any problem with my card though. Performance is awesome and never having any problems playing games. Maybe I am just very sensitive.
I'll update you guys later tonight.

  • Rattling sound when using Shake to Shuffle

When I shake my ipod to shuffle songs there's a rattling sound which sounds like somethings loose inside my ipod is this normal?

No. Have you ever dropped the iPod Nano? You can always have it checked out at an Apple Store if worried.

  • Iphone 4 rattling sound near camera

whenever I put the phone on a surface (when the unit is in horizontal position and not on hand), I hear a rattling sound. Also when I shake it, I hear a rattling sound near the camera. What could it be? Should I take it on the store? Or is it just normal?

Yes this is sort of normal.
All Iphone 4S have this issue. It's the shutter/ focus ring of the camera.
    Test it yourself:
Go to camera mode, tap on the phone to reproduce the sound and focus the camera while tapping it.
You will notice the sound changing/ getting less.
There is a difference between Iphones 4S. One has it louder than the other. If it is too loud or too disturbing, contact your Apple center.

So this morning, the sound on my MacBookPro was working perfectly, but then all of the sudden, the sound didn't work. When i turned the volume up, it showed it turning up, but there was no noise. I also tried plugging in my earphones, and it still didn't work. I don't know what to do!!

Go step by step and test.
    1. System Preference > Sound > Output > Internal Speakers
        Highlight  Internal Speakers / Headphones
Make sure that Mute is not enabled.
2.Plug in and  remove the headphone.
If you see red light in the headphone port, plug the headphone
in and out of the port 5 or 6 times to flip the microswitch inside.
Sound output may be stuck in the digital mode.
    3. Reset PRAM.  http://support.apple.com/kb/PH4405
    4. Reset SMC.     http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
        Choose the method for:
"Resetting SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own".
    5. Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup
        Audio Devices window
        Side Bar
        Click the Built-in Output.
Under Mute any of the boxes checked? If so, uncheck it.

  • Harsh rattling sound coming from fan.

Normally, when I use an application that requires a lot of CPU power or when I'm watching a YouTube video, the internal fan speeds up to 6000+ RPM but it started sounding weird the past week. Right when I "wake up" my MacBook from sleep, I here a faint rattling sound coming from where the fan should be but it disipates after a few minutes. When I view a video though, the rattling becomes a bit louder combined with the normal sound of the fan. Also, I noticed when I picked up my macbook when its fan was going fast and tilted it to its sides, the rattling sound corresponds with the movement of the computer (louder each time I tilted it left to right).
Could the fan be broken/loose? I sprayed some air into the keyboard to get rid of dust but nothing changed. I recently ran out of my Applecare warranty last September. Thanks in advance!

    Hey
Sorry to say but you could be looking at a hardware problem. That being said there are still things you can  try.
Try this artile: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964 for an SMC reset.
If that does not work make sure all of your software is up to date. If it is, you may have a hardware problem.
Run the Apple hardware test that came on the disc with the computer to see if it comes up with anything... Although sometimes it doesn't even if there is a problem.
    Regards,
    Britt.

  • Lumia 1020 rattle sounds

    Hello!
Is it normal for the camera module on a Nokia Lumia 1020 to make a rattle sound when shaken lightly, like there would be a bead loose inside, when the phone is completely turned off?
I know it is normal for the OIS to make such sounds, but does this apply for the situation when the phone is powered down?
    Thank you.

  • TS5180 No sound sound from speaker recently upgraded to iOS7.0.2

No sound sound from speaker recently upgraded to iOS7.0.2

I have this problem too, .
I upgraded my iPhone4 today. Immediately my phone is defunct, and I cannot find any workaround listed anywhere online for the phone, only for the iPad2.
Reset All Settings as per iPad2 advice had no effect except to make me have to re-enter all my settings again.
The volume bar is greyed out in Music settings, and has no visible point on the bar where the volume is defaulted to.
The greyed out bar doesn;t change when the volume buttons are pressed.
However, sometimes the ringer volume logo pops up and changes when I do this, but not always.
However when I call the phone, the ringer is always at full volume, as it was immeditely prior to upgrade.
When I press either up or down volume button the ringer silences completely, immediately, and cannot be resurrected by any manouvers.
Only another call will make the ringer sound.
When I answer the call, the phone is mute though the mute button is not highlighted.
Toggling the mute makes no difference.
Selecting Speaker mode makes no difference - it is mute.
Selecting either up or down volume buttons has no effect.
Using the Jack output is silent.
I cannot hear music, youtube videos, BBC news clips, or any alerts.
    Vibrate is still working.
Trying not to get angry again with another Apple "UPGRADE" disaster - but frankly - I can't even make or receive a phone call - is this fixable???
PLease does anyone know how to dothis?
BTW, being iPhone 4, of course the Home button doesn;t work, so anything involving the Home button must be able to work with the Accessibility Home Button software.
Desperately: How do I downgrade to previous iOS 6 last version?

IF you only hear vibrate, then turn the switch up to ringer using the side control.  You probably have it on silent or vibrate.
If you're using a case remove the case and make the swtich.

  • Annoying rattling sound of loose power/lock button

    iPhone 5s, 16 GB, iOS 8.0.2
    Dear Apple,
I am here to report about the annoying rattling sound that is caused because the power/lock button is loose. At first I just decided to ignore it but after 1 month, it is getting very annoying. It rattles everytime I shake my phone. My phone also doesn't feel solid. Example when I tap the back of my phone, it sounded like some parts in there are missing. I am NOT HAPPY and I don't pay RM 2399 for a phone and still face these problems. I would really appreciate if Apple could replace a new iPhone for me as it is getting very annoying and I cannot stop thinking about it!
    Thank you.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
You might want to run the Apple Hardware Test first--it's on Install Disc #1 of the grey discs that came with your computer--boot from the disc by holding down"D". Run the extended version. You could have a problem with either a fan or a thermal sensor. Since you are only hearing one fan, it could be that the other fan isn't working and the right one is running faster to try to compensate.
If you have a fan problem, you will get an error code with "MOT" in it. If a sensor, there will be a "SNS" in the error code.
You can check on the speed of the fans by downloading "iStatPro" from the Apple Site. If the fans are not running at about the same speed, something is definitely wrong.
But I do think you should call Apple about this. It does not sound normal to me. The clicking could be the fan bearing going out. It is not a normal sound.
    Good luck!

  • Weird rattling sound

I have a weird rattling sound coming from my G4. Could it be a loose hard drive or fan?
    Thanks

Look most closely at the little fan that draws air over the heatsink. It rattles before finally dying in my experience.

  • Rattling sound when computer starts

Hi, I've been using HP 430 notebook and currently have Windows 8.1 pro (32 bit) installed. Recently I am having an issue and it concerns me a lot. When it starts up it makes a rattling sound for a couple of seconds and then its all gone. After start up everything is fine again. It doesn't happen evey time though. I've been using my pc for about 3 years and never needed any servicing or anything of that sort. Should I be worried (if not already!)? What might cause this and what needs to be done now?

No one is going to know this problem like that on here. You need to take it to a shop and have them see if first hand to know what might be the cause.

  • Rattling sound from N97

Purchased a N97 two weeks ago and found that when I move the mobile back and forth (lets say shake it) it has a rattling sound as though there is something loose inside. Furthermore when the back cover is opened the battery just falls off on its own. Am experiencing this for the first time. Is this normal or a defect ?

    chryssa wrote:
It is normal I think, mine at least does it. It is the hinges that open the slide keyboard that do it. When it is not open they are loose and rattle about a bit. It shouldn't  make any noise when you have the keyboard out, try it.

Thanks Chryssa, but what about the battery just fallling off when the back cover is open? I was wondering if that had a part to play in the rattle?

  • Rattling sound on rmbp

    Hi all,
I'm using a rmbp. When i play some audio file concerning speech or acoustic/acapella music, i would get a rattling sound. I'm not sure whether it is the speakers clipping/distortion or something is loose that is causing the sound. this would appear 12bars and above on volume. i find that if i place my palm on the palm rest, the sound would disappear. I've already sent it to the service centre once and they changed the i/o board. when i checked it then, it seems fine. but now it seems to be back. Anyone else having this problem? is this a faulty unit or design flaw? thanks

    Noise Problem cured !!!
My iPhone 5 made a rattling noise when shaken after it had "a few falls"
I read in one of the forums that it was the battery coming away from the adhesive.
I checked iFixit teardown of the iPhone 5 and noted the very large battery which occupies two thirds of the screen space from left to right (starting from above the headphone jack side).
I'm not surprised that if it comes loose that it is the cause of the clunking rattle.
One of the forums contributors suggested gradually pressing all the area of the phone on the outside that overlies the battery inside pressing hard between front and back over all of the screen area from left to right that fronts the battery inside. In this way one pushes the battery back on to the adhesive !!
