RAW Camera files

Does the 'Camera RAW dialog box' mentioned in Photoshop Elements 4 work in Leopard?
If so, how is it usable?

Well, you can do it via Bridge, but that is not necessary. The easiest way to access Bridge is to click on the third icon from the left (the pink folder) in the Elements shortcuts bar. You can also use File>Open.
However, if you are using iphoto, neither of these is advisable. Best to copy/export the Raw file to the desktop and use File>open if you use iphoto.

What Raw camera files are supported by Aperture Ver 3.6.  I have tried to file a list of compatible camera models, but as yet can't find one.  My OS is OS X Yosemite 10.10.1.  I have recently bought a Canon 7D MkII and have found Adobe Lightroom does not as yet support the 7D MkII.  So I though Aperture may support the 7D MkII because Yosemite 10.10.1 now does.

    Hi Folk,
I just found the answer to my question.  Yes it is supported with OS X Yosemite 10.10.1.  See the link below and the ***** Note at the bottom of the list.

  • Opening Raw Camera files

    Question
Sinse Ive updated with Mavericks I've been having difficulties viewing raw camera files in Preview, memory usage is maxed out when trying to view my images.
Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions to fix this problem?
    Thanks

GarrettNZ wrote:... Has anyone else had this problem? ...
Not I.  All three of my OS X 10.9 Macs work fine.
GarrettNZ wrote:... Any suggestions to fix this problem?...
You may have had a bad download or install on your OS X 10.9 Upgrade.  Reinstall OS X Mavericks.
Immediately following the restart that completes the reinstall, use the Disk Utility in your Mac's Finder > Go Utilities folder to repair permissions.  Then check more than one RAW file in more than one user account to be certain your problem is not user specific.

  • Photoshop Updates for RAW Camera Files from a Rebel T4i

I have a Canon Rebel T4i, and I'm trying to get the update for my photoshop cs5 to be able to open it, but nothing is helping. I'm stuck at the 6.7 plugin and can't update it any further. I tried installing 7.1 (which is what it needs to open the raw files) but it didn't let me, so I'm assuming I have to update it by sequence (6.8, 6.9, etc.) except I can't find the update for 6.8 anywhere. How can I update it to read these raw files?

ACR 7.1 and beyond is only compatible with CS6 and up. There never was a 6.8 or 6.9. Therefore you will need to find a way to upgrade or settle for the free DNG converter in the meantime. Refer to this for more details:

  • PSE7.0 displays some canon rebel xsi raw camera files garbled

    Greetings,
I have PSE7.0 running on Vista SP1. I have upgraded the raw file plugin to version 5.2 but still some files display with garbled output. Needless to say Canon provided software is able to view it correctly. Similarly the camera displays it correctly. My camera is Canon Rebel XSi.
Please let me know what I can do to solve this issue.
    Thanks.

First, verify that you installed ACR 5.2 correctly by doing Help > System Info in the editor and scrolling down to Camera Raw -- does it show version 5.2?

  • Why can't I open RAW camera files with Photoshop 6 anymore??

Attempted to open file, as I've done hundreds of times before. I get pop up window saying software can't open file. Nikon cameras used in my office are all supported.

What cameras? What system? How are they transferred to the computer? Where are they stored? Did you change your camera settings recently? Manipulate the files in another program? There could be a million reasons...

  • Can't move RAW camera files from iphoto to desktop folder... ?

I have some RAW files on iphoto downloaded from my Canon Rebel Xsi. I want to save them in a folder on my desktop, but when I drag them from my iphoto album to my desktop the computer changes them to jpeg. How do I solve this?
    Thanks for your help!

Select the photos and export (file menu ==> export) them as kind = original

  • Why cant i see previews of my DNG in finder (on Mac), I can see previews of my original raw camera files but not when I use lightroom to convert to DNG.

    s

I am guessing that Apple is responsible for DNG decoding, now, rather than Adobe, although Adobe should still be responsible for keeping their website up-to-date, and not have dead-end pages without any explanation.
From what I remember, there were some cameras with lens corrections built-in that Apple refuses to show DNG previews of—the DNG Version was too new, but it wouldn’t hurt to check and see if there is a Apple Camera update in case they have fixed this.

  • RAW Camera updates for CS3

    HI Folks,
I'm using the CS3 Web Premium suite with Photoshop CS3.  I am having trouble importing RAW camera files for one of the newer OLYMPUS SLR's.   All the recent Adobe RAW updates seem to be only for CS5.
Where can a person get support for CS3?  (sorry, I'm not into spending hundreds of dollars updating at this time..)
    Gary

For the convenience of opening raw files from new cameras directly into Photoshop, Adobe simply expects you to buy a new version of their software when you buy a new camera.  They have provided, as mentioned above, a somewhat roundabout way to do it with DNG.
Photoshop CS5 has some nice new features (especially over CS3) which make it well worth upgrading.

Is it wise to keep the Nikon camera files "DSC's"  after downloading them and converting to DNG files via Adobe converter for lightroom use. In other words do the DNG files have all the raw data I would ever need in processing or should I save the camera's DSC files?

DNG files do not contain some metadata supplied by the camera, which can be used by the manufacturer's software. Thus, if you don't keep the original Raw photo, you will lose this information.
If your 1000% sure you're never going to use the manufacturer's software, then this isn't a problem. But who can be sure what software you will be using 10 years from now?

  • How to Install Plug-in for PS cs5 to open RAW (.NEF) file for Nikon D810 Camera

I need someone to walk me through how to install a Plug-in for PS cs5 to open RAW (.NEF) file for Nikon D810 Camera.
I haven't used photoshop in ages and I got a new camera. I have been on the phone with Adobe (no help) and spent a couple of hours online trying to figure this out. I'm confused, frustrated and about to throw my computer out the window.
Also, I placed this in the "Photoshop for Beginners" since Photoshop CS5 doesn't appear anymore. I know CS5 is outdated but I spent hundreds of dollars on this program and you would think adobe would still honor its product.
    Any guidance is much appreciated.
    AJ

Odds are cs5 is too old. If you do a search on my the main Adobe website there is a list of compatible cameras for the last known update to camera raw for cs5.
Each version of Photoshop only gets so many updates for camera raw then it is necessary to upgrade Photoshop to get the next update for camera raw.
So you currently have 4 choices.
    1 upgrade Photoshop
2 get Lightroom - latest version
3 get Photoshop elements -latest version
4 get dng converter - this will download the latest version an is the only option that is free.
The dng converter can be found by searching Adobe website.

  • I just found an error in the file name for my Camera Raw Cache file.  How do I correct it?

I just found an error in the file name for my camera raw cache file.  The error is in my username.  I don't know how to correct the error or if I should just leave it.  I'm not sure where my cache file is stored on my computer.  Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you

Since you are on a Mac if when you first set up your account you left out the i in Wilson nothing you do will change that. The REAL account name will always be alicewlson. Once an account is created you can't actually change the name of it. You can change the name that is displayed but not the REAL account name.
Simplest thing to do is stop worrying about it. Everything is as it should be, that is except Wilson being spelled without the i.

When I searched finder for "alicewlson" I found a long list of files like this:

I believe I made the error in my user name when I first got my computer a year ago. I then corrected it under my user name but not in my Lightroom files. I also looked for files with a .lrdata extension and didn't find any.

  • ?unable to open raw photo file after downloading camera raw 7.4 update?

    Can anyone help please.
I recently had my lap top wiped and have had to re load CS6.  I have also downloaded the camera raw 7.4 update (I use a Nikon D7100 camera) The update downloads without any problems, I go through download, install and then finish, but I still am unable to open my raw photos.  I get the following message...   'if you are attempting to open a raw file from a digital camera, make sure you have the latest raw camera update installed'.  I have no idea why it is doing this, or how to combat it.  Any suggestions would be much appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

    Hi Benjamin,
You were right. It was the camera's provided software transfer system. I've copied them directly from the (same) card to the desktop and works.
    Many many thanks! Cheers

  • Can't open Camera Raw (CR2) files in Photoshop CS3?

I can't seem to open Camera Raw CR2 files in Photoshop CS3, my CameraRaw plug in version says it's 4.6 - any help appreciated.

Have you tried opening up out of Bridge? If that doesn't work you may new need to download a new driver from Canon. All my peripherals are Canon and I am always having to download new drivers everytime I update. Fortunatly they are really easy to find on Canon's site.
