Raw diskslices not visible in local zones

Hi,
I'm using sol X86-64 and created a local container. I want to run Oracle with ASM in this container. Because of that i need raw disks (of disk slices) in my container. I added them in the global container with the add device / set match command (see below).
I rebooted my zone (also tried to halt and boot), but i can't see the devices in the local zones.
Anyone ideas ????

Hi,
It is "Solaris 10 8/07 s10x_u4wos_12b X86". So, i will look into this solution. It looks promising. I will let you know if it worked.
By the way, We're running sol x86-64 as a quick test. We will eventually be running Sol 10 SPARC.
Thanx,
Frank

  • Changes made in Camer Raw are not visible in Bridge

I'm editing the RAW images in Camera raw started from Bridge (Ctr- R). By returning to Bridge with "done" the changes are not visible. This worked until recently.
s there any setting which prevents Bridge taking in consideration the info from the XMP file ?
Re-starting Camera Raw I can see the changes from the previous session ...
    thanks in advance

I love these quick solutions also.

  • Raw/nef not visible in organiser

    Hi,
I just upgraded from Elemets 7 to Elements 10 (since Win 7 and Elements 7 are not fully compatible). I installed full version Elements 10 and updated this directly, ADR 6.7 is installed.
In the organiser the raw/nef (Nikon D5000) are not visible, the pics are show as errors (broken files), all jpg and psd are shown correctly. Opening a raw/nef in the editor and ACR there is no issue, picture is perfectly visible.
What do I need to do to have the raw/nef visible in the organiser?

    Try File>Manage >Catalogs>Optimize.
    See if that works!

  • Raw Photos not Visible in CS5 Bridge

I have been using CS5 for several years with my Sony a100 DSLR.  I recently purchased a Sony a99 DSLR and my Raw photos are not visible in Bridge.  How can I correct this issue?

If you are referring to the Sony Alpha SLT-A99V (the EXACT model numbers are important) Camera Raw 6.x for Photoshop CS5 will never get updated for the Sony Alpha SLT-A99V.
Your options are to upgrade to Photoshop CS6 and ACR 7.2 (the first version that supported the Sony Alpha SLT-A99V) or download the free DNG Converter 7.3 (current version) and convert those files to DNG. Go to the Digital Negative (DNG) page and scroll down to Downloads to download the correct platform (Mac/Windows).

  • Why are Panasonic GX7 RAW photos not visible in Aperture but in OS X Mavericks and iPhoto?

My Panasonic GX7 RAW photos seem to be visible in OS X Mavericks and iPhoto, but bizarrely not in Aperture (3.5.1).
Does anyone know why this would be? Any solution greatly appreciated.
I've been unable to mange a significant number of images for almost 7 months now due to Aperture's lack of GX7 RAW support and am seriously considering migrating to Lightroom 5. Aperture has been my workflow application of choice for the last 7 or 8 years, but I feel the current situation has become unacceptable and deeply disappointing .

That camera was supported in digital camera Raw 5.0.1 and Aperture 3.4.5 or later. As you say the files are supported in iPhoto it seems you have the right Raw file.
Have you tried it with new imports in Aperture does it still fail? What if you reprocess the Raw files in Aperture, any change?

  • [Newbie] FMS not visible in local network

    Hi,
I have a problem with FMS 3.5 installed on Windows 7. The problem is that FMS works only on my local machine, I am not able to use it from computers in local network. I turned off all windows firewalls and my machine is visible for other computers - I am able to connect to FMS Welcome site on apache on default port 8134, but streaming fails, and I cannot do the same on port 80. Any help appreciated...

    From fms.ini:
    # IP address and port(s) Flash Media Server should listen on
    # For example:
    #    ADAPTOR.HOSTPORT = :1935,80
    ADAPTOR.HOSTPORT = :1935,80
    # IP (address and) port that Flash Media Server should proxy
    # unknown HTTP requests to. Leave empty to disable proxying.
    # With no address, specifies a localhost port.
    # For example:
    #    HTTPPROXY.HOST = webfarm.example.com:80
    HTTPPROXY.HOST = :8134
    So I believe it is...
What can I do if connections are not reaching FMS?

  • RAW thumbnails not visible in Bridge CS4

Well, first of all, forgive me, because I'm VERY behind the times :~) I can't afford to be up to date :~( Also forgive me if I do not use the correct terminology :~)
I just started taking photos in RAW with my Canon G11 and was not able to open them in PS CS4. So I found a thread here and downloaded the update, which fixed that problem. Whew!
Now the problem is that the Thumbnails do not display in Bridge CS4~~just a CR2 icon. Would anyone care to venture a guess as to why that is? Memory? I have a three year old iMac with only 2 GB of RAM, but am planning on installing 4GB as soon as I have time.
Anyway, any thoughts will be appreciated.
    Elaine

    Elaine,
In Bridge, go to the Tools menu and Purge the Cache for the offending folder(s).
DO NOT use the global Purge Cache command in Bridge Preferences.

  • DW File Names Not Visible in Local View?

Hi, in Dreamweaver CS4 in the bottom right of the UI is the (Files > Local View) It shows a list of the files in you website. The files were appearing just fine but now all I can see is the DW icon for each file unless I hover over the file to see what it says. Before the whole file name was easily visible. I’ve never had this happen before.
Anyone know what’s up with this and how I can fix this?

Might be a bad cache file.

  • LR RAW adjustments not visible in Bridge/ACR or iView MP3

I have just added LR 1.3 to my RAW workflow after using Bridge /ACR /CS2 for some time. If I make adjustments in LR - a big improvement over ACR 3.7 - I cannot see the changes when I open in the other applications. I am using DNG. I am sure I am missing something simple but I cannot find the answer anywhere. How do I do this please?

    Gary,
I don't know if you are going to check back here in this forum again. But I think you will find it necessary to export copies of your images and then open to those copies in order to see your Lightroom adjustments.

  • Lion Server DNS service not working for locally created zones. Caching working fine.

OS Lion Server DNS service not working for local zones. Was fine under Snow leopard server but Lion server upgrade has severely broken my DNS and web sites. Zones look fine under Server Admin but keep getting "query failed (SERVFAIL) for xxxx at /SourceCache/bind9/bind9-42/bind9/bin/named/query.c:3921" in the logs. BTW - Server Admin cant seem to see the log file either.
Surely someone actually tested that DNS still worked on Lion?

I upgraded from Snow Leopard Server to Lion Server on day 01.  I hit the same issue where, after the upgrade, my Lion Server stopped serving names for my private local domain.
I finally took a few minutes to figure out what was wrong.  After turning on debug logging and looking through the logs, I found my particular issue, now resolved.
The issue I had was, when the domain initially was setup when I installed Snow Leopard Server, for some reason it created a zone just for the server (in my case, something like zone "s-01.mydomain.priv"), and a separate zone for all the other machines (zone "mydomain.priv", containing all the private IPs for my local domain).  I never messed with it because it worked, but generally I would have put all of them in the same zone.
My zone "mydomain.priv" had a nameserver and mail exchanger entry for my server, s-01.mydomain.priv.  I could see this in the Server Admin app on the DNS bubble, Zones tab, mydomain.priv selected, and the General Info panel.  This was fine in Snow Leopard.  This was failing the zone load in the updated bind for Lion Server, though.  The issue was that the "mydomain.priv" zone was referencing the s-01.mydomain.priv server, which was not defined in the "mydomain.priv" zone but rather in the "s-01.mydomain.priv" zone.
    My fix:
    1. In Server Admin, add the server to the zone "mydomain.priv".  I put an A record (Add Machine) in the "mydomain.priv" zone for my server named s-01.mydomain.priv.
    2. shut down DNS on the OS X Lion Server (hit the Stop DNS button on Server Admin).
    3. edit /etc/named.conf by hand, removing the specialized zones that contianed just the server.  In this case, it would be the section titled 'zone "s-01.mydomain.priv"' and the section titled 'zone "3.10.1.10.in-addr.arpa"'.  Your in-addr.arpa zone name will change based on whatever your server IP address was.  My internal one happened to have s-01.mydomain.priv mapped to 10.1.10.3.
    4. Once the specialized zones for just the server were removed, I started the DNS up again.  Instead of serving four zones as it had in OS X Snow Leopard Server, it now servers two zones.  And, now, it is resolving my local machines for the mydomain.priv zone.
YMMV.  I did note that it wasn't totally necessary to do step 3, but I never really understood the need for the specialized domain, and keeping it around would have a copy of data that would just confuse things.
Hope that helps.  That's been the only hiccup I've noticed updating to OS X Lion Server thus far.

  • Network access from local zones on a Solaris 10 router

I'm kind of stuck at an interesting problem.
I have a Solaris 10u6 system which is itself a router between a number of networks.
It has several dozen routes to different networks via different next-hop gateways,
just one of which is a default route to the ISP to internet.
I thought of setting up local zones to securely run infrastructure services (BIND,
Squid, Mail relay) on this machine, with only a single dedicated public IP address
(from our delegated address space) per such zone. Zones use a shared-IP stack
on one of the machine's VLAN interfaces (the LAN part with public IP addresses).
The problem is - since this machine is the gateway for the subnet used for the
local zones, they don't inherit any default route. The one default we have to the
ISP is on another interface's subnet.
    [root@ns8 /]# netstat -rn | grep default
    [root@ns8 /]# netstat -rn | wc -l
    50
On a side note, these zones do inherit dozens of other routes (50 above) with
next-hop routers not on the local zone's subnet - so these are also not accessible.
I think such useless routes should also be filtered away - as "mismatching" default
    routes are.
Due to all this the zone has no networking outside its subnet/mask: it doesn't
even try to send anything, since there is not a single route with a matching next
    hop router, i.e.
    [root@ns8 /]# traceroute -nI 194.87.0.50
traceroute to 194.87.0.50 (194.87.0.50), 30 hops max, 40 byte packets
    1 xx.yy.zz.8 0.102 ms !H 0.032 ms !H 0.027 ms !H
To reiterate, this setup is different from that of the numerous replays of "How to
set up internet for zones with virtual IP addresses?"
That recipe suggests to add a fake router and maintain its ARP address to be
that of the real default gateway, and set up NAT to rewrite private IP addresses
to the global zone's public IP. While I've also used the recipe a number of times,
it does not seem feasible in this router's case - there are too many next-hop
routers (and learned with a dynamic routing protocol), not just one default-gw.
I can of course go back to running services in the global zone and binding them
to these dedicated public IP addresses via configuration files - and this works
since the global zone has access to any needed routers having IP addresses
in relevant subnets - but I hoped to secure the system a bit more and separate
    routing from infrastructure tasks...
So the question is: how can I set up networking for local zones in this case
when they are running on a router? Is it possible?
    Thanks,
    //Jim

You can set the Airport Extreme in "Bridge" mode, and then it will just extend the existing subnet.
Airport Utility -> Airport Extreme -> Internet -> Connection Sharing -> Off (bridge mode)

  • How to create raw partition in a local zone?

I tried to search for an answer for my question, but I spent a week and still no luck.
What I am trying to do is to create raw partitions for Sybase in a local zone. I tried to add device and set match to the block and raw device.
However, when I tried to do "format", I got core dumped. When I did zpool create, I got permission denied. Any advice?

You can't manipulate pools directly in a non-global zone. I'm not sure if you can run 'format'. You can use at least a limited amount of globbing. You might want to put a '*' at the end of your matched device name.
You can hand off a raw partition via 'match' and put it under UFS control, or with recent versions of Solaris Express, you can delegate a portion of a ZFS filesystem to the zone.
    See the ZFS administration guide:
    http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/zfs/docs/zfsadmin.pdf
Especially the section on using ZFS in a zone (page 171). Note the guide is for the most recent version of ZFS in OpenSolaris. Versions available in Solaris 10 may not have all the same features.

  • How do you create a local zone that's not "stripped down"?

    Hi all,
I've been exploring Solaris 11 Express a bit more after work, and I can't figure out how to create a new local zone that doesn't have a minimized package set. The ISV guide mentions that new local zones default to "minimal system software":
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/articles/systems-hardware-architecture/o10-015-s11-isv-adoption-198348.pdf (page 6)
...but that I can specify additional packages with the "-e" flag during the zone install. I don't want to list dozens of supplemental packages by hand... there must be a way to make a new local zone that has an almost identical package loadout as a standard global zone. (i.e. ftp, smtp, telnet services exist in the global zone, but are not installed in a local zone).
Do I need to use ips commands to first make an image (of a global zone) then update my local zones to that image?
    Thanks!
    Mike

Thanks Russell, this sounds exactly like what I was looking for! I'm "zoneadm install"'ing a new zone right now to kick the tires. One note for everyone else:
pkg install -r slim_installI got an error that "-r" isn't a valid flag for pkg, but it seems to be working without it (i.e. "pkg install slim_install")

  • Local zones do not start when rebooting gobal zone

HMy solaris host had been working well. Then all in a sudden, all local zones do not start automatically after I reboot the system. Did anybody see this before? Thanks.

Thanks, Robert. There no error in /var/adm/messages. I can start zones manually.
I found the status of svc:/system/zones:default is offline. With this status, zones will not autoboot regardless of zones configuration. But I cannot enable the service. After I execute the following command
    # svcadm enable svc:/system/zones:default
the status of that service is still offline. Any idea?

  • Photos in Drop Zones not visible

    Hi,
I recently purchased a refurbished iMac and have used iDVD previously, but am having trouble with it now. It's my first attempt at iDVD since I bought the computer. I'm using a 6.0 theme, Reflection Black. When I drop photos into one of the eight drop zones, the zones go black. I can see in the drop zone editor area that the photo is loaded, just not visible. The twist is that the first time I use the photo it works. But if I try to drop it in the second time, or close the saved draft and then reopen, I get a black image where the photo should be. I've searched on the help topics, and can't figure it out.
    Thank you!

You're right. There's not alot of info available on this particular issue regarding invisible slideshow photos. So let's try the following.
You say the photos are showing in the drop zone editor nevertheless ..... correct?
What happens when you add a transition (simple 3 second dissolve for example)?
If that fails to help then add music as well and then set the slideshow to "fit to audio". Post back with your results.
