RAW - Es fällt ins Auge...
bei extrem "falschem" Weißabgleich!
In RAW/NEF und JPG abgespeicherten IR-Aufnahmen, gemacht mit einer Nikon D70, werden im Win Explorer XP gleich dargestellt. Das Adobe RAW-PlugIn ignoriert aber, so scheint es, die Kameradaten zu den RAW-Bildern. Es erscheinen in Bridge wie in CS2 die IR-Fotos entsprechend dem starkroten Filter eben rot - und nicht wie versprochen mit dem Weißabgleich korrigiert in tükis. Auch bei anderen Aufnahmen sind mir divergierende Helligkeitswerte aufgefallen.
Mache ich einen grundsätzlichen (Denk-)Fehler oder hat das Progrämchen einen Bug?
PS. Ich hatte mich schon einmal an dem Thema versucht, sah es aber nicht in der Liste. So versuche ich es noch einmal.

Schade eigentlich, daß keiner sonst dieses Problem kennt. Also noch einmal in Kurzform:
RAW-Bilder werden in CS2 original ohne die gemachten Kameraeinstellungen gezeit. Warum macht man denn diese dann. Der Win-Dateibrowser macht aber mal was richtig.
Auffallen tut dies aber zuerst nur, wenn man einen stark falschen Weißabgleich wählt UND gleichzeitig zu den NEF-Daten in *.JPG speichert.

Using Smart Filters to keep Camera Raw and filter plug-ins access
I am wondering if what I am trying to do is reasonable and possible.
I know I have seen some workarounds where you can open a RAW file directly in Camera RAW,copy a background, make it a smartfilter, and do your editing and then I guess you can go back and still access your Camera RAW settings which definitely has value. This kind of is outside my normal workflow as I normally start with Lightroom and that won't work I don't think from Lightroom (unless perhaps if I send it to PS "without LR adjustments?". Now of course you always have access to the original file and starting settings in lightroom, but once you layer PS edits and layers on top of that, you really can't go back. I'd be willing to start from within Photoshop if somehow this would work.
And, I regularly use smartfilters when I use my NIK filters in PS.
What I ran into today was a situation where it would have been VERY nice to be able to go back to my camera RAW starting develop settings before I went down a long path of Colorefex and Silverefec filters. Well, at the end, I determined my RAW sharpening was too strong at the beginning of my workflow. So I was able to get back to my filter settings of course, but I could not get back to Camera Raw to adjust that.
So, is there a way to somehow keep your Adobe Camera RAW settings available to access, however while still being able to layer NIK filters also in a smart filter situation? Is this a multiple smartfilter soluton?

I am willing to deal with the larger file sizes. So the question is, how do I do it from either within PS or from Lightroom?
Do I need 2 layers, one for the ACR smartfilter and one for my NIK filters. Can I do it with one?

Merge to HDR Pro does not work on Nikon D800 RAW (NEF) files
Hi,
I can't get Merge to HDR Pro to work on NEF RAW files from my Nikon D800 - nothing happens after after confirming the file selection. However, it works ok if I convert those files to DNG (using Lightroom 4), and if I use the D800's JPGs, and if I use Nikon D7000 NEFs. It just seems to be a problem with Nikon D800 NEFs.
Steps taken:
1. File -> Automate -> Merge to HDR Pro
2. Browse... and select NEF files (even selecting 2 files does not work).
3. Attempt to Automatically Align Source Images is checked. Then press OK.
Expected result:
Progress cursor spins as files are loaded and HDR dialog appears.
Actual result:
Nothing happens - no progress cursor or CPU or disk activity - it is as if I had clicked cancel instead of ok.
This is a clean install of the 64 bit CS6 beta on Windows 7 64 bit, with no plugins, and I reset preferences (Ctrl+Alt+Shift on startup). I do have my existing CS5 Extended still installed, as well as Lightroom 3.6 and 4.0.
I can send you the NEFs if you like.

The Ps CS6 public beta version contains the same camera support as found in Ps CS5/5.5 compatible CR 6.6. There will be future updates to CR 7 for Ps CS6 to pick up more camera support. The Nikon D800 NEF files are not supported, yet.
If you like to work with your D800 files in the public beta build now, you'll have to get the DNG Converter 6.7 from here: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/cameraraw6-7/
and convert your files to DNG.

Canon 6D raw files in Photoshop CS6
I can't open raw files from my 6D in Photoshop CS6, and the "update" option under the HELP drop-down menu is dimmed out. I've got the .dng application and can use that, but there's got to be an easier way, doesn't it?
Photoshop CS6 can use Camera Raw 8.x plug-ins, so you could conceivably get one of these two:

Hi.
I use Photoshop Cs2 on my PC using Windows XP.
Yesterday I down loaded Adobe camera raw 3.7 and DNG 3.7.
Now I cannot open my raw files,I get a message saying it is not the right kind of file,also when I convert my raw files to DNG they come into the bridge as icons not thumb nails.
I wondered whether anyone can help me with this problem.

Hmmm ... my WinXP CS2 installation behaves differently. An update via the 'Help' menu does everything automatically ... no intermediate zip file, and no quessing where the ACR plug-in goes. That is, there's a specific location for it, and the Bridge plugins folder is
not it. But who am I to argue with ...

Transfering files from RAW to Photoshop CS5 Extended
After completing adjustments to raw images and clicking Open Image the adjusted image appears in Photoshop CS5 as a checker board only. Could you please tell me how i can overcome this problem? Working with CS5 and Windows 7
When you set it to open as a Smart Object and subsequently double-click the SO does it open as expected?
Are Photoshop, Camera Raw and OS fully updated and have you performed the usual trouble-shooting routines (trashing prefs by keeping command-alt-shift/ctrl-alt-shift pressed while starting Photoshop and manually for Camera Raw, 3rd party plug-ins deactivation, system maintenance, font validation, etc.)? -
PSE8 Crash open as Raw a .jpg image in Editor to get Raw Editor
Although it works in release 6/7, I crash when I try to open a .jpg image in the raw editor in PSE8. I use menu file,open as, select an image, and select Camera Raw on open as drop down menu and then click on Open. At that point the editor crashes and goes away and has to be restarted. Anyone have any workaround suggestions or is this broken until relase 9?

Same behaviour here (WinXP Pro SP3, PSE upgrade path was 3-4-5-6-7-8).
I also see 2 times Camera Raw in about plug-ins as well as in the Open as list. Chosing the first one in results in error message "The operation could not be completed, Class alread exists", using the second one in Open as results in error message (my translation from German to English) "This process could not be executed, because there was a program error" (As a software developer, I love this message ).
I'd be interested in solutions as well.

The Nikon D7100 was first supported in Camera Raw 7.4 which is compatible with CS6 and later.

In Photoshop, click Help > Updates to update Camera Raw.
Once updated, check the installed version of Camera Raw: Photoshop > About Plug-Ins > Camera Raw. It should report version 8.3.
If not, download Camera Raw 8.3 from http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=106&platform=Macintosh and install it manually. -
PS CS6 has no sound with AVCHD videos from Sony Cybershot
System Specs:

win7/64 fully patched

CPU: intel quad core sandy bridge 2600k, 3.4Ghz
GPU: AMD 6950 2gb
The videos play fine in VLC 2.0.1, windows media player, GSpot 2.70a (in thumbnail window). An ancient Nero showtime even sort of plays the video (choppy and partially mangled), but the audio is fine. VLC and WMP play smoothly at full screen, 2560x1600.
In PS, there is no audio. Both microphone icons have sound waves emanating and I have tried all 4 combinations of mute and play.
I can edit and save them to h.264, high quality, 1920x1080, 59.94 fps, progressive *.mp4 file. The video plays on the other players, but again there is no sound.
GSpot shows LAV splitter -> ffdshow addio decoder -> ac3filter -> default directSound device (see details below)
When playing in PS, the video is choppy. It will play for ~1/2 second and then stutter.
Searching for a suitable group with key words (photoshop cs6 avchd video no sound)
yields 505 groups. Looks like any group to have ever had cs6 in a thread. Hmmm.
It can't be a codec problem if every other video product I have plays the files. It is certainly not a hardware limitation. It looks like a PS bug.

It is perfectly legal to decode Dolby to simple stereo with the licensed codec included with Windows 7. There may be some restriction on writing AC-3 content in 5.1 format. If Adobe wanted to, it could read from the licensed, installed codec and write the edited files in any of the audio formats it does support.

There are dozens of digital cameras and camcorders from Canon, Hitachi, JVC, Leica, Panasonic and Sony which use AVCHD and many more are on the way.
Almost every medium and top-tier video editor also supports AVCHD/MTS format including Avid, Premier, Final Cut, AVS, Blender, VideoStudio, PowerDirector, Windoz Movie Maker, Nero, Pinnacle, Vegas and Openshot.

I feel that I was mislead by Adobe. And Adobe is still advertising this "Any Clip" claim even though the Dolby "defect" was reported in March in Beta testing. Please don't advertise what you don't support.

Help!
I can´t open the orginizer in Photo Shop Elements 5 any more! All other features are functionally. Tried to reinstal the program but with the same result. Anyone????

Photoshop will not open NEF files
I have a Nikon D5200 that I purchased a couple months ago. I recently decided to start shooting in raw, and I found I could not open the photos in photoshop (CS6). I took to the internet and found that I needed to download the Adobe DNG Converter. I got the 7.3 version which says it supports the d5200, but photoshop still can't open the files. I tried restarting photoshop and my computer after downloading the plugin. I tried the same with the 8.3 version, and still no luck. Can anyone help me out?

Not quite.
There are two options:
Update the Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) plug-in used by Photoshop to recognize and process Raw files, or
If your version of Photoshop is not compatible with the version of ACR required to open Raw files from your camera, then download and install the DNG converter to convert Raw files to DNGs then open the DNGs in your version of Photoshop
The limitation with the ACR plugin is that
different versions of ACR support different camera models Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras and
ACR is only compatible with specific versions of Photoshop. Full list here: Camera Raw-compatible Adobe applications
In your case, the D5200 was first supported in ACR 7.3.
Photoshop CS6 shipped with ACR 7.0 and is compatible up to ACR 8.5 (8.3 with Windows XP).
So, in PHotoshop, check your version of Camera Raw (Help > About Plug-Ins > Camera Raw). Click Help > Updates to update ACR. -
Problems with Photoshop CS6 Recognizing Multiple Graphics Cards
Hi,
I have a quad monitor setup with two graphics cards with the latest drivers downloaded today and installed directly off of the manufacturer's websites:
1) AMD Radeon R9 200 Series 4GB GDDR5
2) NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 1GB GDDR5
I have Photoshop CS6 64-bit (along with the rest of the Adobe Design and Web Premium) installed on my computer - which I uninstalled and reinstalled today also - and it's claiming that it has detected an error with my display driver. The Graphics Processor Settings box in Preferences is greyed out, and I've used the shift+ctrl+alt to reset preferences and check again to no avail. I've also set both of my graphics cards to turn on OpenGL Triple Buffering and to let the 3D application decide the image settings. Here's my system info, where you can see that the GPU sniffer crashed and that no video card is detected:

Are you using more than one video card?
Multiple video adapters can cause problems with GPU-accelerated or enabled features in Photoshop. It's best to connect two (or more) monitors into one video adapter. If you have to use more than one video adapter, make sure that they are the same make and model.
Otherwise, crashes and other problems can occur in Photoshop.
Note: Using more than one video adapter does not enhance Photoshop's performance. -
Edit in photoshop not working from external drive
The command works fine on files stored on my internal drive, however, for files on my external photoshop just opens but the file does not appear. Lightroom 5 - any ideas? (On a mac)
Every camera model has to be profiled and programmed for specifically since the sensors are generally different as that is a key thing the manufacturers are working on to improve, so if your version of software is older than the camera then the software won't know how to deal with the raw data.
You haven't answered the question what versions of what software are you using? You can use Help / About Photoshop or Help / About Lightroom or Help / About Plug-ins / Camera Raw or About Plug-ins / Camera Raw depending on what version of what software you're trying to determine the version of.
The other thing to know is that Adobe doesn't update older versions of their software for newer cameras--they only update whatever the current selling version is at the time, so if you have, for example, PS-CS5 or Lightroom 4.x then those obsolete software versions would never be updated to handle cameras that were new to market, this year, since the current versions of software are LR 5.x, PS-CS6 and PS-CC.. -

Though I can confirm that it works, that is just so amazingly, utterly, retardedly bass-ackwards (the German phrase is "von hinten durch die Brust ins Auge" - "from behind, through the chest, and into your eye") that it's a perfect example of why I HATED Logic 7 and previous versions:
There was always a way to do almost anything in at least a halfways-working fashion, but you had to actually know one of the engineers at Emagic to have the slightest clue of how to get it done.
Logic 8 is the first version that actually feels like it was built for HUMANs.
In short, I'm afraid that building a step sequencer in the environment really does not qualify as an option. -

I have over 3000 wps and doc. files that I use. I downloaded SyncToy 2.1. The first pair was between a flash drive(1), which is my primary creation and storage of all these files, and a second flash drive(2)that I will use as a backup. Everything
