Raw file edited in Lightroom don't show edited in PSE

I have edited pictures taken in raw format in Lightroom, and imported them later in pse 7. When I import them, they are not edited, but the original file.
How do I make PSE read the edited information instead?
Thanks in advance

Thanks for a very quick reply, and congratulations with passing 1000 postings!
I tested it again, and I upgraded to LR 2.4 today, and it didn't create an .xmp file. I found this article which makes LR create an .xmp file. Now PSE can see the changes I've made in LR.
I tried to install Adobe Camera Raw 5.4, but got an error message "Photoshop Camera Raw (64bit), Can not install. Click cancel". I have camera raw 4.5 and I don't have a 64bit system. I can't find any 5.4 for 32bit system?
I didn't see any edits I had previously done in Lightroom in PSE's organizer, nor did the raw file have any modified timestamp.
I really like PSE organizer for tagging pictures so I find them easily, and I have gotten used to Lightroom for editing my files after I got more interested in taking pictures, LR is a lot easier to quickly modifying a lot of pictures compared to PSE where you have to open editor for each and every picture (making sure I can't be bothered fixing up the pics). So my workflow is to import to LR and modifying the pictures to my liking, and then importing them in PSE organizer for looking at them later. I don't use LR for looking at pictures later on. Is that an OK way of doing it, or is there an easier way?
Perhaps I should import as .DNG file to reduce the dependency on the .xmp file?
Thanks again for a quick reply, I have been slower to reply as I had to check and recheck what was happening.

  • Raw File from Bridge, Lightroom, CS5 not show on Window 8.1 OS

    I recently bought a new computer with Window-8.1 OS.  Then I loaded CS5, Bridge & Lightroom on.
    However, non of the program reads raw file.  Please advise what to do.  Thank you.
    James

    If photoshop, bridge or lightroom are old enough, it may not support your camera. A search on adobe's web site will give you a list a supported cameras for that version of software.
    If they are not supported, you have basically 2 options
    1)Upgrade your software
    2)download the free dng converter and convert your raw files to dng which can be opened by photoshop, camera raw, or lightroom.
    Another possiblity is the file it self is corrupted. Hopefully that is not the case.

  • Logo Component - Design mode shows the edit component toolbar don't show "Edit" button

    I just created a Logo component on my website following the CQ "How to create a Fully Featured Internet Website" guide.
    I do create the logo component, edited the jsp page with the following code
    <%@include file="/libs/foundation/global.jsp"%>
    <%@ page import="com.day.text.Text,
                     com.day.cq.wcm.foundation.Image,
                     com.day.cq.commons.Doctype" %>
    <%  String home = Text.getAbsoluteParent(currentPage.getPath(), 2);
        Resource res = currentStyle.getDefiningResource("fileReference");
        if (res == null) {
            res = currentStyle.getDefiningResource("file");
        log.error("path is:" + currentStyle.getPath());
    %>
        <a href="<%= home %>.html"> <%
        if (res == null) {
            %> Home Page <%
        }else {
            Image img = new Image(res);
            img.setItemName(Image.NN_FILE, "file");
            img.setItemName(Image.PN_REFERENCE, "fileReference");
            img.setSelector("img");
            img.setDoctype(Doctype.fromRequest(request));
            img.setAlt("Home Page");
            img.draw(out);
        %>
        </a>
    Then, I created the tag "<cg:include>" in my jsp page, calling this jsp.
    After all that, I created the Design Dialog for my logo component, then a "items" node under the tab1 node of the design dialog.
    After this, finnaly, the widget node (absParent), under the items created before.
    A lot of propertys later, I got my Logo object in the page, but the toolbar with the "Edit" button on Design mode don't show me the "Edit button"
    Someone can tell me how to get the button there?
    Is some property that I may have forgotten?
    Thanks.

    Basically, the edit toolbar has the same with as your component, which indeed is problematic for narrow components.
    But you can work-around that with a basic CSS hack:
    .cq-editbar {
        min-width: 200px !important;
        _width: 200px !important; /* IE6 */
    This seems to be fixed in CQ 5.5.

    Question?
    I have accidentally deleted a large number of develped images in Lightroom before I did a backup. I reimported the original raw files back into Lightroom hoping the develop settings would be re-established but no luck. Notice system mau have done an auto-backup as have an lrcat-journal file. Can I use this to restore my develop settings. I also have jpgs generated from all the deleted images.

    Hello,
    if you have a backup of your catalog you can do the following:
    1. Backup your catalog first
    2. Restore your backup catalog to some location
    3. Open your current catalog and select "files->import from another catalog".
    4. Select your backup catalog and your lost images. LR ask you if you want to overwrite the current settings or save them as a virtual copy.
    As an alternativ you can open your backup catalog, select the "lost" images and save the development settings as xmp sidecar fiels (using ctrl-s). Then open your current catalog, seletct the images and use "Metadata->Read Metadata from files".

  • Will there be an improvement of X-Trans RAW Files Developing in Lightroom?

    Hey, dear Ladies and Gentlemen of Adobe!
    I am very upset because of your lousy support of Fujifilm X-Trans RAW Files Developing in Lightroom. I spent a lot of money to buy Lightroom. Now this Software is not useable to me because it handles RAW Files of my Camera (Fujifilm X-T1) very unsatisfying.
    It is not just me, you can read it all over the Internet. The Fujifilm X-T1 is a state of the art camera and delivers very good Pictures, but why - in the name of god - is lightroom handling it so lousy?!?
    You are forcing me to look for another Software. I have tried a lot apps the last few days. And EVERYONE has a better result but Lightroom.
    Even the to be discontinued Aperture by Apple has a far better result of developing that raw files. A small one-man Company named "Iridient Developer" has the best result i have ever seen with all that apps! To name them:
    I tried Aperture, Iridient Developer, Photoninja, AccuRAW, Capture One, SilkyPix 5, and a lot more. All of them are making better, sharper, crispier Pictures than Lightroom 5.5. Yes, i have the latest Version.
    The Pictures are like painted in Watercolors. No Details, no fine Structures. I am heavily disappointed!
    I do not expect to get an answer with a satisfying solution. You already have my money. Why care about customers?!?

  • Can Olympus RAW files open in Lightroom mobile?

    Can Olympus RAW files open in Lightroom mobile?

    As I understand it, but I have not tried LR Mobile, you have to have the raw files on a real computer and then sync the smart previews from LR desktop to the iPad.  I am still trying to get my head around a real use case for a non professional enthuasist photographer.

  • Can you export a raw file photo with Lightroom adjustments attached?

    Can you export a raw file photo from Lightroom with Lightroom adjustments attached in some way?  If not what is the equivalent?  There are some individuals I would like to send the full data of the raw file, but with the non-destructive Lightroom adjustments layered on top.
    --Gerry

    You can select "Original" as the file type, in Export. This saves out a copy of the imported source file into the selected location, labelling the current adjustments onto that image. When this is sent to somebody and imported to LR / opened in ACR, these metadata will be found and used automatically, with the exact same outcome as within your own LR Catalog - provided the LR / ACR versions are sufficiently compatible, and provided camera and lens profiles applied to the image, are present in both contexts.
    LR uses whatever method is normal when writing metadata, for each file type involved. So, if one imported file is a proprietary Raw file, LR will write an XMP file alongside. If another is capable of having metadata written into its file header, LR will do that instead.
    One important difference between doing this, vs writing LR metadata out to your original imported file, and sending that: the Export Original method will work in the same way, just as successfully, for one or more Virtual Copy versions (duplicating physically as needed), as it will for the primary Master version - relating to a given imported file.

  • Edited images in lightroom don't show up edited when uploaded.

    I'm new to lightroom; I've only started using it these past few weeks.
    I would edit some light work on my images and then export it into a folder. It would look fine and have all the features that I edited.
    Whenever I upload it to other places, it wouldn't take the edits I made and it shows up as the orginal image or maybe a darkened version of it (I'm not sure).
    The only place that actually takes my edited images as edited, is 500px.
    For facebook, there were times when I uploaded and it didn't take my edits, but when I exported the image again to a higher resolution of Jpeg, facebook would take the edits.
    I'm not sure why this is happening. I wanted to print some photos so I uploaded them to costco or shutterfly, but the images are not the way I edited in Lightroom.

  • Sony RAW file conversion for Lightroom 5

    I've been using Lightroom 5 (LR5) for my photo editing on a PC for a year now & been shooting with Nikon, just recently purchased a Sony A7II & LR5 will not read the RAW files, when I try it says: "The files are not recognized by the raw format in Lightroom 5", Please check for updated version of Lightroom, so I checked & I do have the current version, no updates available. I was previously told it would read it & there shouldn't be a problem, well it won't. From what I've read looks like I need to convert these RAW files to DNG through a plug-in. When I went to 'Adobe Support & Community Help' I found what I was looking (I think) a plug-in for LR5, however when you open the link at the top its says: 'Camera Raw plug-in for CS6, CC, or CC 2014 Adobe applications' doesn't mention anything about LR5, but it did on the previous search page so I'm a little confused. Attached is the link: Camera Raw plug-in installer
    Is this it for LR5,  'CameraRaw_8_7_1.zip' ? And if so why doesn't it say for LR5, anyone know? I don't want to download something and have it screw up my LR5 program. Any help here would be greatly appreciated....jp

    I have Lightroom 5.7. When I check for updates I show its up to date, I don't understand, whenever there are updates its always advised me, I started with Lightroom 5. Was that link to 5.7.1 on my post correct for this update? Like I said it didn't say for Lightroom 5 just Photo Shop CS6,CC, or CC 2014, so I was a bit confused, wouldn't be an issue if Lightroom 5 was included in the text.

  • Panasonic Lumix FZ1000 RAW files support in Lightroom 4

      http://blogs.adobe.com/lightroomjournal/2014/07/camera-raw-8-6-and-dng-converter-8-6-now-a vailable.html
    The above says that Panasonic Lumix FZ1000 RAW files are supported in camera raw 8.6.  I specifically checked before buying the camera.  Everything I have ever read on the Adobe website for some 3+ years said that if a file in supported in Adobe Camera RAW, it is also supported in Lightroom.  Particularly, the above URL did NOT give any warning about the FZ10000 RAW files NOT being supported in Lightroom 4.  I went ahead and purchased the FZ1000, only to find I'm now having problem with Lightroom 4 not recognising the RAW files at all.  I'm really annoyed, as I was so careful to check the Adobe website first.  WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON WITH CAMERA RAW AND LIGHTROOM?????

    I do appreciate the many RAW file formats being created by the camera manufacturers, as I have had varying cameras with the varying formats, and so am very aware of the whole business of making sure how those formats will fit into my software.  And, as already stated, appreciate Adobe's efforts to deal with all those formats.
    This whole exercise has been upsetting, and there has been some good advice and info provided in this discussion.
    And unfortunately, some input that has been a little too technical and not particularly helpful.  I feel that some of the input was a little too critical and didn't recognise that maybe some of us aren't so are highly involved and knowledgeable in Adobe products and the technicalities of how the software works, dot versioning of software, executable coding etc. because we don't need to, and shouldn't have to.  I have bothered to learn Lightroom well in terms of its functionality including matters raised by you (eg making LRoom edits visible in other software, knowing that LR is not making changes to the actual files, rather they are in sidecar or xmp files etc.).  I have bothered to learn a reasonable amount of computer-related info to understand things in plain English terms, such as "to have PShop and LRoom to recognise my RAW files, I need to have ACR.  To have them run on my PC, they must be compatible with Windows operating system version xxx.  For many people, this level of knowledge should be enough.
    I have NOT said I expect Adobe to get advance copies of file formats from manufacturers;  I have NOT said that I expect Adobe to support every new camera model immediately.
    The technicalities of the coding and whether Lightroom "uses" the ACR plug in or not is not quite so much the issue, and I don't find the statement that "Lightroom does not use the Camera Raw plug-in" helpful.  I don't think it's really right either.  Lightroom - one way or the other - DOES "USE" ACR as the ability of Lightroom to recognise files is very much dependent on the version of ACR that you have.  LRoom may not use the ACR plug in as PShop/Bridge in the exact same way (eg for the actual editing of files such as exposure, white balance etc.), but Lightroom DOES USE the ACR PLUG IN.... in regard to the file recognition issue.
    And Yes....  I made a mistake.  Somehow, despite what I thought were good efforts to research the Lumix's support in PShop CS6, Bridge, ACR and Lroom 4, I got it wrong.  I will accept that it was my mistake and I'll accept my part in this, but I won't be made to feel that that it's been "totally" my fault, stupidity, whatever.
    Thanks to all the people who have provided useful comment and input to my original question and subsequent responses throughout this discussion.  I will indeed now consider options like the DNG converter.  I was aware of the whole cloud thing, and had been thinking I would upgrade in perhaps a couple of years time (for both Pshop and LRoom) - I'll have to consider upgrading sooner rather than later.

  • Raw files disappearring in Lightroom

    It maybe something I am doing (still learning program) but it seem sometimes when I edit a file (source being Canon camera raw, 5D, XTi and 1D MK2N) the raw file no longer appears in Lightroom (edited file does if saved to psd or similar format). The files are still on my hard-drives and if I try to re-import it states they are already in the library but indicates the edited file name (that is if I have edited in CS2 and saved as x.psd, even when I select the cr2 file it refuses to import it as x.psd exist in library already, x is generally the original file name). If I save as x_something.psd then this does not occur. Whilst I understand the need to protect the raw files, it makes no sense to hide them after edit - it as if Lightroom is only looking at the name not the extension and only seeing those extension is sees as being related to Adobe PS products. This is annoying and I often save a copy of the raw file, a tiff copy, a jpg copy and psd copy with the same name just a different extensions.

    As I understand it, but I have not tried LR Mobile, you have to have the raw files on a real computer and then sync the smart previews from LR desktop to the iPad.  I am still trying to get my head around a real use case for a non professional enthuasist photographer.

  • Export raw file out of lightroom

    Is there a way to export a raw file out of LR if who want to work on
    in other app? I wanted to use DoX on some I-Stock photos and wanted just
    to export.

    This sounds like you are trying to replicate an Aperture function - exporting the raw files to get them out of its dungeon or vault.
    You might not need to export the raw files in LR. If you drag to the Mac Desktop, you are duplicating the raw file, which may well be what you want to achieve. Alternatively why not just Cmd-R to show them in Finder and then edit them in DoX (what?). The other alternative is to do your LR adjustments and then use export to generate TIF or JPG files for further editing. But without knowing what DoX is, it's hard to say what the right way may be.

  • Will Canon 5d Mark III Raw files work with Lightroom 3

    I have just tried to upload Raw files from a Canon 5d Mark III to Lightroom 3.  The file were not recognised.  I believe there were some update issues but my Lightroom 3 is updated.  Do I need to get Lightroom 4?  I need to know urgently as I have a shoot tomorrow and will go back to my Mrk II if I can't get an update for Lightroom 3.
    Message title was edited by: Brett N

    LR3 DOES NOT support Canon 5D3, 1Dx, Nikon D800 or Nikon D4.
    Newer cameras wont work in it, and require LR4 for RAW processing (Tethering in LR4 STILL is not supported)
    However,
    LR4 is massively buggy, and slow to a point where it is practically unuseable for anything other than a handful of images to edit.
    Also, LR4 will not tether to the new cameras (for that, try ANY of the competing professional software, Aperture, Capture One - They work just fine)
    You can, convert your 5D3 files to DMG, and then open them in LR3 that way, or you can get LR4 and deal with it's massively awful slow issues that Adobe has still not resolved 5.5 months after launch, or you can use other software.
    Those are your options.

  • Raw files uploaded to photo stream not showing on devices

    I have Aperture set to automatically upload all the photos I import from my Canon 50D. In the past month the photos in RAW format, have not been showing up in my photo stream. When I look in ~/Library/Application Support/iLifeAssetManagement/assets/sub I can see all the CR2 files and I can see Aperture uploading in the activity window, but nothing is showing elsewhere. The only exception is my iPad that has some from two weeks ago, but the none of the raw files from yesterday are appearing on any device or iCloud.com. I can see jpg taken via iOS but not RAWs.
    Any ideas? Has the OS X 10.10.1 or iOS 8.1.1 changed something, is there a new check box. Just slightly (very confused)
    Thanks for any help.
    Justyn

    Justin,
    can it be, that you activated iCloud Photo Library (Beta) on your iOS 8 devices? That essentially disables all easy ways to upload photos from your Mac to iOS devices. My Photo stream will stream from iOS devices to other devices and your Mac, but the Mac will no longer stream to the other devices. and iTunes Photo sync will no longer sync photos to the iOS devices. If you enabled iCloud Photo Library (Beta), either disable it again in "Settings > Photos"on your iPhone/iPad, or use the page https://beta.icloud.com  and and the Photos.app on that page to upload your photos from the Mac to your mobile devices.

  • Jpeg link to original raw files bridge or lightroom?

    I have recently exported jpegs and given them to a librarian to add metadata. He used Bridge to add the metadata to the jpegs. Is there a simple way to give him the original raw files and they will automatically link together?
    The filenames have been changed. I am hoping there is a residual filename in the metadata.
    Thanks, Rob

    Not that I know of.  And with a new name it is a new file.
    There will only be old name if he did batch rename and had the box check to preserve current file name.
