Raw file opening

I Have transferred a CS6 Raw photo session from camera to hard disk. Now some files show all camera details and they are working fine but some files show only right photo number and proper file size and Photoshop can't recognize them. The file names are exactly same type. Is there any way to fix these hidden files?

I know its a second reply but I strongly beleive the OP does not have a codec on his/her PC able to read the RAW files. Most DSLRs create a small JPG file for quick viewing or sending along wiht a RAW file of the same name with a different extension. I you look at a folder that has been filled with  both file types all you'll see is a thumbnail for the JPG file and the name (minus thumb image) for the RAW file. Its a pity the OP decided not to provide any further information. This is a very common issue for those new to RAW capture.
Explaining it fully would give a reference file to refer to when offering help. Camera makers all provide codecs for their raw files, you just have to download the ones you need and install them. A good alternative and one taht reads Adobe files too can be bought for a small fee from a guy easy to find on the net. (sorry but I don't use these forums to advertise commercial software) Google it if you need to.

As I understand it, but I have not tried LR Mobile, you have to have the raw files on a real computer and then sync the smart previews from LR desktop to the iPad.  I am still trying to get my head around a real use case for a non professional enthuasist photographer.

in which you find that your camera requires the ACR 8.7 version
    Camera Raw-compatible Adobe applications
in which you see that PSE12 can't, and that PS13 can with an update.
So what solution, since Adobe does not upgrade older versions? It's the free Adobe DNGconverter:
Use the latest version of the free DNG Converter (for Macintosh or Windows)
You can convert your files to the universaly compatible DNG format (the files will work with any version of the Camera Raw plug-in). See In depth : Digital Negative (DNG) for more information.
This standalone utility lets you batch convert whole folders of raw files to the DNG raw format that your PSE12 can read.

  • RAW files open directly into Photoshop

Odd issue here: when launching RAW files they open directly into Photoshop. Either Camera Raw gets bypassed or it just processes them on the fly.
This happens after a bit of usage, re-launching Photoshop solves the problem for the next few files.
This happens if I launch the RAW files from the Finder, Bridge or Photomechanic. Only the right-click on my mouse in Bridge will show the option of opening images in Camera Raw.
This is driving us nuts here. Happens on 4 work stations.
RAW files are mostly CR2's. Mac OS 10.4.10

Are you using PhotoKit or PhotoKit Sharpener? If so, this is a known issue with the previous builds...go to the CS3 Beta page and redownload the current builds.

If you AREN'T usinf PhotoKit or Sharpener, try resetting your Bridge preferences and purging the cache.

  • FAQ: Will Photoshop Elements work with my camera, or Why won't my raw files open?

    What is a raw file?
A raw file is the unprocessed light data that was captured by your camera sensor. The only settings on your camera that apply to this file are aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. This means that any settings you may have applied to the file, such as white balance, or black and white effects, have no effect. Because this sensor data is raw, it must be processed or baked into an actual image file, that's where the Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) plug-in comes in.
    What is Adobe Camera Raw?
ACR interprets the raw data and makes image information out of it. But every camera has a unique sensor and thus has a unique form of raw file. Even though camera manufactures may use the same file extension each time (e.g. Nikon raw files are always .NEF), each camera model has a different way of storing information. Because of this, we must continually update ACR for new cameras. As we add new cameras to the list (over 300 now) we update our published list of supported cameras. Additionally, with the changes to ACR, newer releases will not always be compatible with older versions of Photoshop Elements.
So, will the my raw files work with Photoshop Elements?
So if you are wondering if your camera is supported by ACR or will work in Photoshop Elements, first check this list:
Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
Once you know whether your camera is supported by ACR and by which version, check this list to see whether your version of Photoshop Elements supports that version of ACR or later:
    Camera Raw-compatible Adobe applications
If your version of Photoshop Elements should open raw files from your camera, make sure you have the latest version of ACR installed. Go to Help > Updates to install the latest ACR release.
You can also manually download and install ACR updates:
    Macintosh
    Windows
What if my camera is not compatible with my version of Photoshop Elements?
Supposing you have a camera that came out after the release of a newer version of Photoshop Elements, so that your version of Elements is no longer recieving updates, you have two basic options:
Purchase the latest version of Photoshop Elements that supports your camera.
Use the latest version of the free DNG Converter (for Macintosh or Windows)
You can convert your files to the universaly compatible DNG format (the files will work with any version of the Camera Raw plug-in). See In depth : Digital Negative (DNG) for more information.

  • Raw files open with adjustments..

    Hello!
I am having trouble with RAW files in Lightroom, and also camera RAW.
When I import a RAW file into Lightroom (i have the current version, 3.5) Lightroom adds adjustments to the file, for example in the basic section of the develop module exposure will be set to 0.25, recovery will be at 100, contrast 54 etc...
I have tried shooting on different cameras and I do not have the problem. I have put the same RAW files into another computer with Lightroom and it works fine. Just seems to be a wierd combination of my camera and my computer.
Everything was working fine, and I recently purchased a new camera, and still everything was fine. Then one day it started adding adjustments to the RAW image automatically. And the same when I open a file in camera RAW..
Any recomendations on what to do/how to solve the issue??!
    Thanks!!

In LR Develop module go to Develop tab>Set Default Settings...>click Restore Default Adobe Settings. This will put you back to square one in LR
In ACR at the right end of the Basic panel header is a little triangle. Click on this and at the bottom of the dropdown list click on "Reset Camera Raw Defaults".
    Rich
P.S. In each case you will need to open a file from the camera giving you the problem then reset with the file open. This goes for both LR and ACR.

  • Why aren't my .CR2 RAW files opening in Elements 9.0 from my Canon Mark III 5D?

I am super confused as to why my old Canon Rebel CR2 (RAW) files have always opened in Elements 9.0, but now my new camera (Canon Mark III 5D)'s RAW files are not opening? Thanks!

    You have two alternatives:
    (1) Upgrade to PSE 11. (2) Download and install the free Adobe DNG converter to convert your raw files to the Adobe universal Raw format and the files will open in all versions of PSE (keep your originals as backups and for use in the camera manufactures software)
Windows download click here DNG Converter 7.3
Mac download click here DNG Converter 7.3
You can convert a whole folder of raw images in one click. See this quick video tutorial:

  • Imported raw files open in PS as JPEG

I want my raw files to remain raw files when I import them into Photoshop.  My raw files automatically open up into JPEG files.  How do I stop this from happening.
    Thank you

I’m not very experienced with Adobe Camera RAW (and by the way there’s a Forum for that specifically), but what you describe sounds implausible to me.
If one opens a RAW file with ACR one produces a psd file which one certainly can save as a jpg, but it is not »opened« as a jpg.
Anyway one can set ACR to open images as Smart Objects, thus maintaining them as RAW-data in a psd file.
    But maybe I’m misunderstanding you.

  • Raw files opens in PE

    Hello
When I click file-open and open a raw file (cr2) in PE 8, it does not open i camera raw editor, but in PE. I have the last version of camera raw 6.1.0.250, and I also have the latest raw codec from Canon. This happends with both camera Im using, canon 5d mk2 and canon ps g11. I have two computers, one with vista home premium 32 and one with vista home premium 64. On vista home premium 64 it works fine. I would be greatful for any solution.

That did the trick, it works after changing screen resolution.
    Thank's a lot ssprengle

  • Raw files open like a jpeg sometimes

    Hi!
I am using a Nikon D70. Most of the time, my NEF files open perfectly in Photoshop CS2, with all the toolbar options.
Other times, with the exact same settings on my camera, the files will open with appearance like a small JPEG, but it still is a NEF. No RAW options or toolbar in sight, just the regular photoshop toolbar.
I tried downloading a raw plug-in, but it still happens. The NEF files are the same size, one will work and one will not.
Any ideas on what could be causing this? Your help would be greatly appreciated!

    Quick fix:
Raw images didn't open properly from iPhoto, but dragging them off my Nikon usb icon works fine. Yay!

  • Raw file opens as jpg

Can somebody help me. I am running CS3 on MacOS X. with Camera Raw 4.1 plugin.
When I open RAW file it is opened on in RAW editor but in Photoshop as a Jpg file with different name.
    example:
    initial file:L1010860.RAW
when it is opened in photoshop the name changes to: L1010860_2.jpg

    >Photoshop cannot open RAW files; only Camera Raw can.
While Photoshop can not open a raw file without a helper application, the statement that only Camera Raw can open raw files is not true. A common problem encountered by Nikon users is that the Nikon NEF plugin overrides ACR and the raw file is opened in it rather than ACR. The Bibble plug in can also open raw files in Photoshop. Alexinna's problem appears to be related to iPhoto and may be analogous to the problem with the Nikon NEF plugin.

  • Raw files open with a greenish tinge

I usually shoot raw + jpeg with my nikond200 and when i open raw files with acr they automatically take on a greenish tinge in comparison to their jpeg counterpart.
I would like them to open the same so i have a true image to start with and do my own adjustments.
I've played with white balance and still cant seem to get a match.
Is there a setting that can do this 'jpeg match' with every image i open or what should i do???

    >Camera manufacturers, Canon and Nikon in particular, perform in-camera RAW to JPEG conversions designed to generate the over-saturated, over-contrasty and over-sharpened images that appeal to most amateurs.
    >Their stand-alone RAW conversion software also performs the same conversion to your RAW images.
These statements are often made without any documentation. I have compared ACR's rendering of Color Checker images with that of Nikon Capture NX, using the same raw image for both conversions. The D200 was used for the capture. With ACR, I used the default settings and the default ACR calibration settings (i.e. no ACR calibration was performed). For Nikon Capture, I used normal contrast and saturation and the default tone curve. The Imatest results show that the ACR conversion is actually more saturated, with a mean chroma (saturation) of 113.7% as compared to 106% for Nikon Capture NX. For overall color accuracy, ACR is quite competitive, and is superior to Capture NX if one does an ACR calibration. For help in interpreting the Imatest results, readers are directed to the
    Imatest web site.
Here is a composite of the two renderings, both in sRGB for web viewing:

It's likely that you've inadvertently changed the Adobe Default Develop settings (which can be applied for specific cameras only). To check, take one of these "B&W" images into the develop module, press and hold the Shift key and the reset button at bottom right will change to "Reset (Adobe)"....click on it and the image should revert to colour. If it does, yes you've changed the default settings. To fix, go to Develop>Set Default Settings, then click on Restore Adobe Default Settings.

  • FAQ: Will Lightroom work with my camera, or Why won't my raw files open?

    What is a raw file?
A raw file is the unprocessed data that was captured by your camera sensor when you took your picture. The only settings on your camera that apply to this file are aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. This means that any effects you may have applied to the file, such as white balance or black and white, may not appear in Lightroom. Your camera will create a JPEG copy of your raw file with all current settings applied and save that within the raw file for use as a thumbnail by most applications. When you first view a raw file in Lightroom, you will see this thumbnail, then Lightroom will read the raw data and create its own thumbnail, which may have a different appearance.
How does Lightroom work with raw camera files?
Lightroom interprets the raw data and makes image information out of it. But every camera has a unique sensor and thus has a unique form of raw file.
