Raw files loading as custom WB not As Shot

My CR2 and DNG files are loading into Lightroom 2.6 and CS4 with a distinct blue cast.  Previews are fine, but when loaded they come in as custom WB not As Shot.  JPEGS are all fine.  If I click on As Shot in the develop module, all is okay.  This does not happen on my laptop, only on my PC.  It also only happens with my Canon 40D, not my 7D or G10.  This is a new problem that I have not had before.
i recently loaded ACR 5.6 to support the 7D, and I am thinking that I have a setting off somewhere, but I don't know where.

Check that you're not applying a develop preset within the Import dialog or set a custom camera default for your 40D. To clear a custom camera default you'll need to select a 40D image in Develop module, choose Set Camera Settings... from Develop menu then click on button labelled Restore Adobe Default Settings

    Hi,
Yes, Photoshop Elements 13 should read raw files from the EOS 70D. You can always download the trial version and test it for yourself.

  • RAW files from Fujifilm EXR 770 not loaded by Lightroom 5.2

Title says it all. The camera is listed as supported by L/r 5.2 but I am informed the RAW files can not be loaded.

So it looks like you will have to wait for an update before you will have support for that camera. It isn't on the list of supported cameras published from Adobe. Nobody here knows when or if new cameras will be added.

  • Raw File from Bridge, Lightroom, CS5 not show on Window 8.1 OS

I recently bought a new computer with Window-8.1 OS.  Then I loaded CS5, Bridge & Lightroom on.
However, non of the program reads raw file.  Please advise what to do.  Thank you.
    James

If photoshop, bridge or lightroom are old enough, it may not support your camera. A search on adobe's web site will give you a list a supported cameras for that version of software.
If they are not supported, you have basically 2 options
    1)Upgrade your software
2)download the free dng converter and convert your raw files to dng which can be opened by photoshop, camera raw, or lightroom.
Another possiblity is the file it self is corrupted. Hopefully that is not the case.

  • How can I set ACR 5.2 to open RAW files as 16 Bit and not 8?

Whenever I open RAW files in ACR 5.2 they open as 8 bit. I change the bit depth to 16 and work on a file... but when I open my next RAW file it's back to 8.
Is there any way to set ACR so that it always opens my RAW files as 16 Bit.. and saves other settings as well?

Bennett, when you open a raw file in Camera Raw and finish working on it the choices to click on are Open Image, Cancel, and Done. Which one are you clicking on to close the image in ACR? Cancel will do just that. Cancel the changes and the 16/8 bit setting will not be kept. The other two choices (Open Image and Done) will maintain the changes you made and the 16/8 bit setting and the color space should stick for the next image.

  • Is Bridge supposed to sort raw files by date modified?  Not on my systems.

I have just installed photoshop/bridge cs5 on two windows 7 systems, home premium 64 bit, one an i3 chip and the other an i7 chip.  I was formerly using cs3.
I see that Bridge is not sorting my raw files by date modified like it did before.  It sorts jpg files okay.  I noticed that the xmp files associated with the raw files, when I hover over them in Windows Explorer show the correct modified date but the thumbnail icon shows only creation date, which I assume is as it shou ld be.  Why doesn't Bridge CS5 sort raw files by date modified as it did in CS3?  CS3 must have referred to the xmp file modified date to use for sorting, I would think.
I should also mention that the metadata file does not show the correct date modified, but gives the same date as the creation date.  Also the thumbnails for raw images that have been modified correctly show the icon that indicates it was modified.
Also, I see that when you hover over a thumbnail in Bridge CS5 nothing is revealed about the file.  In CS3 Bridge hovering over a thumbnail showed several pieces of data about the file including anything in the file info.
Is this just how Bridge CS5 works or have I missed a setting somewhere in Bridge or Windows?

Curt, thanks for your response.  The tool tips
was not checked and did result in "hovering"
working.  I'm not sure why that's called tool tips, but okay.
I have just installed the software in the last
few days.  I almost immediately got an update
notice and installed the update.  I thought I was
up to date.  Then, just a while ago I got another
update notice.  After installing it the sorting
now works.  Thanks much.  Problems seem to be solved.

  • Raw files uploaded to photo stream not showing on devices

I have Aperture set to automatically upload all the photos I import from my Canon 50D. In the past month the photos in RAW format, have not been showing up in my photo stream. When I look in ~/Library/Application Support/iLifeAssetManagement/assets/sub I can see all the CR2 files and I can see Aperture uploading in the activity window, but nothing is showing elsewhere. The only exception is my iPad that has some from two weeks ago, but the none of the raw files from yesterday are appearing on any device or iCloud.com. I can see jpg taken via iOS but not RAWs.
Any ideas? Has the OS X 10.10.1 or iOS 8.1.1 changed something, is there a new check box. Just slightly (very confused)
    Thanks for any help.
    Justyn

    Justin,
can it be, that you activated iCloud Photo Library (Beta) on your iOS 8 devices? That essentially disables all easy ways to upload photos from your Mac to iOS devices. My Photo stream will stream from iOS devices to other devices and your Mac, but the Mac will no longer stream to the other devices. and iTunes Photo sync will no longer sync photos to the iOS devices. If you enabled iCloud Photo Library (Beta), either disable it again in "Settings > Photos"on your iPhone/iPad, or use the page https://beta.icloud.com  and and the Photos.app on that page to upload your photos from the Mac to your mobile devices.

  • Corrupted RAW files show in Bridge but not Photoshop?

    Hi,
I have recovered some RAW files that were accidently deleted but most of them are corrupt in windows explorer (using recuva).  Adobe Bridge can see them but nothing else will open the files (or see them).  I really need to edit these files, any help would be appreciated.  I'm on win7 64 bit.  with adobe bridge cs 5.

What type of RAW files are we talking about, NEF,CR2 or other?
Bridge is just a flle browser, and RAW files are opened and edited in Adobe Camera Raw.  Do you just get a thumbnail, but it willl not open in ACR?
Does ACR work with other RAW images that have not been corrupted.
Do you have a backup (highly recommended) of these images somewhere?  Should be on seperate physical drive or on a DVD.

  • Sony RX100 raw files converted with DNG converter not recognizable

Since  installing Maverick 10.9.4 on the Mac, Sony RX100 raw files converted with DNG converter are no more recognizable.
    Somebody else the same problem?

I know my DNG files themselves and the info they contain are fine. But they're not properly supported in Mavericks 10.9.4 and I don't plan on switching to Windows. A file that I converted to a DNG using Adobe software is now listed as an unrecognized file in OSX. No thumbnails, no iPhoto, no Aperture. Essentially, no support. And this is a problem. A quick search will show you people with various Sony cameras (A7, RX100 mkI and mkIII, at least) having the same problem.
No matter where the blame falls, the simple fact is that if you shoot with various Sony cameras, use Adobe software to convert the file to DNG and happen to be an OSX user, you're files are no longer compatible with OSX or Apple's photo software. They will only open in Adobe software. You literally get a warning message from OSX saying, this is an unsupported file type when you try and open it.
Like I said previously, I've had a managed iPhoto library for about 5 years now, numerous hours of tagging and organzing, and every DNG file converted from a Sony ARW RAW is currently unsupported. Original ARW files work just fine. It's nuts. Maybe it's Adobe's fault. Maybe it's Apple's fault. It really doesn't matter. If DNG is not a reliable standard format under certain edge cases (Sony ARW, DNG converter, OSX Mavericks), it's not a reliable standard format at all. I just hope that Apple or Adobe figures this out, so that I can get those photos back.
In the mean time, certain users such as myself just can't rely on DNG. End of story.

  • If xmp creation date precedes raw file date Bridge/ACR does not recognize

I decided to start a new thread with this revelation from a prior discussion, because of its importance.
I have several iPad apps that apply metadata to raw images captured in the field using the camera connection kit.  These apps have various export mechanisms, with a typical capability to bundle up raw images from the Photos app space with xmp files from the metadata editor app's space, and deliver them via ftp or however.  I have seen failures where the creation date of the image file was made equal to the creation date of the xmp, and subsequent to export Bridge would not recognize the xmp file as valid edits to the raw file, even though they both had the same file name ahead of the extension.  Up to now I never understood the cause of the failure.  Opening the xmp file in a text editor and saving it out with a later creation date "fixed" the problem.
Adobe either needs to change this behavior (IMO the right solution, forget about checking creation dates) or at least publish the dependency.  I believe there are a lot of programmers out there that had no idea that the creation date could invalidate the coupling between the raw file and the xmp file.

    Ok, made some tests.
First: there is nothing interesting in /sys/class/drm. Only one file called version... which, as you might guess, contains the version info for DRM.
Secondly: tested this Phantom Output thing. Used LVDS-1, LVDS-0, LVDS... nothing.
I even tried to add i915 and intel_agp modules to the initramfs... nothing changed.
However, I looked a bit more into dmesg and found another interesting thing:
    [ 2.038447] Linux agpgart interface v0.103
    [ 2.041261] input: Video Bus as /devices/LNXSYSTM:00/device:00/PNP0A08:00/LNXVIDEO:01/input/input8
    [ 2.048750] ACPI: AC Adapter [ACAD] (on-line)
    [ 2.060820] agpgart-intel 0000:00:00.0: Intel 945GM Chipset
    [ 2.060849] agpgart-intel 0000:00:00.0: detected gtt size: 0K total, 0K mappable
    [ 2.060858] agpgart-intel 0000:00:00.0: Intel (null) Chipset
    [ 2.060867] agpgart-intel 0000:00:00.0: can't determine aperture size
    [ 2.060933] agpgart-intel 0000:00:00.0: agp_backend_initialize() failed
    [ 2.060942] agpgart-intel: probe of 0000:00:00.0 failed with error -22
So it seems there is a problem with the AGP module not correctly detecting the card in the first place
Edit: also tested it with the internal screen connected, still the same problem.

  • RAW files linked as smart objects not affected by LR5

My understanding of linking (rather than embedding) a file in the latest Photoshop CC 2014 is that it would allow the linked file to be edited outside of Photoshop and still update when the parent file is opened in Photoshop.
However after placing, as a link, a raw file within Photoshop, (that had been edited in LR 5.7 and retains the last LR appearance), I find that if I reopen it in LR 5.7 and make further edits, it does not appear to affect the linked file in Photoshop. I am not even getting a ' ! ' to indicate something was changed outside of the program that I am in. Are raw files excluded from this feature? Are raw linked files still behaving as though they are 'embedded' and can only be further edited using Camera Raw?

The Sidecar files are not in the LR catalog. You keep harping on LR doesn't use camera raw, which it does…
No it does not.  It utilizes its own internal conversion engine, which is NOT Adobe Camera Raw.  It behaves very similarly, but it is NOT Adobe Camera Raw.
Whatever you want to call that "module", it is NOT Adobe Camera Raw, and it's developed by the Lightroom Engineering Team, not by the Adobe Camera Raw Engineering Team.
The various Adobe engineering teams are totally independent of each other, they are not only in different buildings but in different cities and states of the American Union, even in different countries.
The fact that they have little if any communication among them is highlighted by requests occasionally made in these forums by top Adobe engineers to let the other teams know when there are problems in one application that impact our workflow in another one.

  • RAW files from SONY RX100 II not seen by Aperture

    RAW 4.09 Build 711.2
    RAW support 4090 Build 86.2

    2.8 GHz Quad

Aperture does not recognize RAW files shot with the RX100.  I cannot import files.  This only became an issue after I upgraded OSX.  Everything worked fine before.  Do I have to wait for another RAW update for 10.8.5?

The raw support for Sony RX 100 II has been part of the update Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 4.08., so the camera should be supported.
Try to reinstall the raw support in a similar way as described in this thread:

  • RAW files with camera connection kit not appearing but take up space

I just tried transferring a GB of Canon CR2 RAW files to my iPad 3 (iOS 6.1.3) by connecting my Canon 5D MkII  through USB and although I can see the files while connected, I get a red exclamation mark when it tries to import.  The pictures don't show up in my Photos app Camera Roll but they seem to be taking up space when viewing Usage in Preferences.  I tried to see if I could download the pics through Aperture on my iMac but it also does not see them.  How do I free up that space and/or recognize the RAW files that seem to be imported to my iPad but don't show up?

I was able to get things working but it took drastic measures.
I had to do a full system reset and update by doing the following:
    - Make note of all your settings in your system and apps especially accounts and forget about in app data that's only on your iPad and not in a cloud service because it will be gone after this
    - Connect iPad to Mac and startup iTunes
    - Hold down Home and Power buttons simultaneously for about 8 sec until the screen turns black
    - Release the Power button but continue holding the Home button until there's a popup on your screen which indicates it's in recovery mode
    - Follow the instructions to recover your iPad but recover it to factory state, not recover from a backup
    - Reinstall all your apps and content
    - Reconnect to all your services on your system and apps
I could not restore from a backup since it brought back my bad data too.  It also didn't restore my music and no matter what I tried it wouldn't put my music onto my iPad.  Had to start clean.
It appears over time that the system gets dirty and there's lots of bad data that can't get resolved.  This is especially true if some of your apps have crashed a bunch.
By the way, I went into the local Apple Store and they couldn't get it to work without fully resetting the system either.
This level of reset will also upgrade your firmware if it's not the latest.
