Raw files loosing saturation & exposure upon import on nikon d4s & d7100 my d800 is fine

I am having trouble with lightroom 5.6 . my Nikon d4s & d7100 raw files loose saturation & exposure upon import my d800 is fine

Try changing the camera calibration profile to "camera standard" and setting that as the default (hold alt or option and click on the "set default ..." button. Also make sure you do not have dynamic lighting enabled in your camera. This underexposes the raw files and writes an instruction for Nikon software in the nef file that compensates. The result in non-Nikon software is that your files end up underexposed.

Why does aperture convert my raw files to jpegs when I import them from iPhoto?

    It doesn't.
When you import  Raw to iPhoto the app makes a jpeg preview of the Raw automatically. When you import from iPhoto then Aperture brings over both versions.

The D800E is definitely supported in Camera Raw 7.1 which is compatible with CS6.
Which version of Camera Raw are you running?
Win: Help > About Plug-In > Camera Raw
Mac: Photoshop > About Plug-In > Camera Raw
If you're already on 7.1, what exactly happens when you try to open Raw files from that camera?

  • Bridge is opening all of my RAW files as jpegs when I import them from iPhoto

I have set my iPhoto preferences to send my RAW photos as RAW when using an external editor. If I only use ACR, this works fine, but if I want to use CS4 they are all coming over as jpegs and I then have to work w them as jpegs. I have PSE 8 . Do I have to do something before I open CS4 to have them come over in RAW format?

Not Very familiar with iPhoto but I think you do confuse two approaches for
your files. If you choose to work from iPhoto it takes the originals but
when using Bridge it might be an exported version in jpeg.
If you have PSE 8 with Bridge CS4 I would suggest you make a choice in
workflow and use Bridge as starting point. You can import your Raw files in
Bridge using Photodownloader (get photo's from Camera in Bridge) preferable
use a card reader for this.
And/or copy the older original Raw files to a new folder.
You can find the originals that have been imported using iPhoto in the
picture folder/iphoto library. Click on the icon and with right mouse click
choose show package content. In this new window you will see a file called
originals with subfolders. Inhere find the ones you want and copy them to a
new folder from your choice (either in the picture folder or elsewhere, but
obvious not in the package window for iPhoto, you won't see them after you
    closed the package content window...)
Choose copy because in this way your iPhoto library and folder structure
    stays as it is.
Now point Bridge to the folder with this copied files and let it cache the
    files first (takes some time).
With this workflow you can manage your Raw files (rate, rename, adding
metadata and keywords etc.) and develop them in ACR and PSE. If you do want
to use the album structure from iPhoto you can choose to save your developed
files either as jpeg or tiff and place them in iPhoto.
It might be a better workaround because iPhoto is not the best application
to handle and develop Raw files, you have a lot more options in Bridge and
    PSE

  • IOS 5 Raw files converted to jpeg when imported

Prior to upgrading to iOS 5, when I imported my RAW images from my camera via the camera connection kit, they were not converted, re-sized, or altered.
Since iOS 5, my RAW files are re-sized, EXIF Data stripped, DPI set to 72, and converted to a Jpeg.
How do I stop this from happening?

It appears that I am having a simliar problem with Exif data.  When a photo is cropped in IOS5 it removes the Exif data including the GPS coordinages (this is how I noticed). Perpahs the new OS isn't handeling Exif data correctly. Response from Apple?

  • Raw files loose camera setting in ACR

    Hi everyone,
I have been shooting raw (nikon d80). I used to open my raw images with acr without any problem. But lately the acr wont read my camera settings.
I opened my raw file in window viewfinder and it has my camera settings just ACR seems to strip them.
How can I fix the ACR?
    thank you

Which "camera settings" are you referring to?  CR will read the "as shot" white balance setting from the camera, but nothing else (e.g., Picture Control, sharpening, etc.).

  • Nikon D750 -  I need immidiatly the new Raw converter in Lightroom 5.6. There ist no possibility to import the raw files. It´s vitally important!!!!!! What time is the update?

was nützt einem die schönste Raw Datei, wenn man sie im Adobe Workflow nicht einlesen kann.

    Hi,
Currently there is no LR version available for Compaibility for Nikon D750,
However there is the Beta version available for ACR 8.7, this should support the RAW files of the Nikon D750
    - Download Adobe Photoshop Camera Raw 8.7 Beta - Adobe Labs
    - http://blogs.adobe.com/lightroomjournal/2014/10/1366.html
Or use the Camera Software to Convert to DNG or TIFF, that should work as well.
    Hope this helps.

  • Raw files loosing editing information?

I edit my raw files in CS5.  Then I saw as JPEG, and upload to be developed.  Once the pictures are uploaded they look like I never edited them at all.  What am I doing wrong.  This does not happen if I edit a JPEG file. Thank you in advance...:).

To apply the edits (adjustments) to raw files, you need to actually OPEN them in Photoshop and save them in a different format.  The original raw file is never touched.
If instead of cliching on the OPEN button you click on the Done or Save button in ACR, then those adjustments are only kept in a sidecar file.

  • Camera raw won't open my raw files from bridge.  Mac user, camera, Nikon D800, latest camera raw update is installed.  Help!!

I don't get a photo preview in bridge of my raw files, just the NEF file thing.  Then when I click to open them I get a message that says:  "If you are attempting to open a raw file from a digital camera, make sure you have the latest Camera Raw update installed via Help > Updates"   "If the problem persists, visit the following link for more information: http://www.adobe.com/go/kb407111".  I can't seem to figure out what to do!  Help Please!?

Usually the problem with a newer Nikon camera is that the NEF files have been transferred or viewed with obsolete Nikon software, like Nikon Transfer for View NX, and those change something in the header of the raw file that makes it unrecognizable to Adobe products.
For new images, the solution is to either stop using Nikon products to transfer and view your files or update your Nikon products to be as new as your camera.
There is a utility to fix this particular corruption here:

  • Camera raw conversion for photoshop elements 12 . Camera Nikon D4S

Hi i have an apple Mac version 10.9 os.  I have Adobe photoshop Elements 12.  I just got a new camera Nikon D4S.  Photoshop Elements will not import my RAW phots (NEF) taken with the new D4S camera.  It gives me a message: Could not complete request because the file appears to be from a camera model which is not supported by the Camera Raw installed version.  I uploaded a plug in 8.4 to my computer. Then tried to convert the photos in the D4S file folder. It would not convert the photos. The message from the DNG plugin said:  The Source folder does not contain any supported camera raw files.  How can I upload the RAW (NEF) photos taken with the D4S to photoshop elements 12?  Need help as I need to edit all these pictures.
I am having the same issue uploading the RAW (NEF) D4S photos into Adobe Lightroom 5 as well.
Thus I can not edit any of these photos.  I am very frustrated and could not find or locate a phone number to contact Adobe Elements for assistance, so if you have a phone number or email address for Adobe Photoshop Elements support or Adobe Lightroom support, please let me know.
    thank you

  • How to use Lightroom 5 [was: 6] to transfer related .WAV files for VISIBLE display next to my Nikon D4s NEFs?

Please help me. The ability to do this crucial to my workflow as a photojournalist and columnist.
Today I discovered that I have a serious problem when I tried to use Lightroom 5 to transfer my RAW images and their associated .WAV files from my Nikon D4s memory card. I did a search online and found that a Canon user has this same problem:
Part way through the transfer a message box appeared on-screen telling me: "Some import functions were not performed. These files are not photos or videos," followed by a list of all of the .WAV files.
I rely on those audio files to remind me of things that I need to know about for my column with regards to the associated photos. Sometimes I even use those short audio files to record sound effects.
I am using a Mac running on the new Yosemite operating system.
I like the fact that Lightroom does not do destructive editing vis a vis the added description and other metadata, as opposed to Nikon transfer which apparently does do "destructive editing," but I've been using Nikon Transfer 2 and, before that, previous versions of this program for years. I have never had an issue with corrupted photos due to the transfer process. This is a significant drawback for me of Lightroom 5.
Surely many, if not most, people at Adobe use Canon and Nikon DSLR cameras, so why would they allow such a serious flaw to be in Lightroom 5?
Am I missing a step that will eliminate this problem or is there a workaround for it?
    Thank you for your help.

I entered the Library drop-down menu, clicked on "Find" and typed .wav in the search window. Lo and behold, only the 13 photos that had associated .WAV audio files were then visible in Library view.
Hmm, I wouldn't have guessed that would work.  It doesn't work in my LR 5.7 -- it doesn't find any photos with associated .wav files.  I wonder what's different about your situation.  In your Library Filter bar, when you do Library > Find, what appears in the two red circles below?
In my previous message, I was referring to the third-party plugins Data Explorer and Any Filter but forgot to include the links.  Though the two plugins are quite a bit different, they each give you the ability to specifically search for associated files with a given extension.

  • Renaming files in Lightroom 3 Upon Import (problems)

I can having trouble importing files into Lightroom name where I want to custom name them - sequentially. I am importing the data from one folder on my hard drive to the folder that contains all of my lightroom files. I am able to import and rename some files in folders with ease. Others I am told Lightroom 3 couldn't name them. Why? If I try to import and rename in LR2 I have no problems. I am basically taking a Nikon generated file, say DSC0001.NEF and renaming it to Ireland 07-30-08.NEF. Lightroom 3 can't do it. Does anyone know why? Thanks.

    Hi Franz,
Let me clarify a couple things (I hope Adobe is listening):
    1.     I am merely copying and renaming on import. I am not moving the original files.
    2.     Files are created in my TO: directory, they just contain the origianl filename.
    3.     I tried the exact same procedure with LR2 and it works fine.
It appears there may be a bug in the software.

  • Can't open NEF raw files in Elements 12.1 from my Nikon D610.

I have the trial version of Elements 12 and updateed to 12.1. The Camera Raw version is 8.4 and I'm running a Windows 7 computer. Then I try to open NEF files do I get the error message that my Camera is not supported. I tried to install the DNG converter ver 8.3 but that dosen't recognize the NEF files either. Elements opens the NEF files from my Nikon D5100 without problems and so does the DNG converter. I have tried both 12 bit and 14 bit NEF files from the D610 with no luck.
As I understand it so should Elements 12 with Camera Raw 8.4 support Nikon D610. I hope I get get this to work so that I can update to ver 12 from ver 9 that I use today.
    Best regards
    Daniel

Yes I used Nikon Transfer NX that came with my Nikon D5100. I downloaded the NEF file directly from the SD card to my hard drive and now can I open the NEF file in Elements. I guess I need to update Nikon Transfer NX with the version I got with the D610.
Thanks 99jon for the quick reply and for solving my problem

  • Aperture 3 workflow with raw files edited in Capture NX2

I purchased Aperture as a data management tool. I used to use Expression Media for this purpose but it is not supported with snow leopard. I have many raw files which were edited in Capture NX2. The adjustments to these raw files are not reflected upon import in aperture. I understand this due to the non-destructive nature of Capture. I am trying to develop a new system to work through this. One idea is to create a duplicate of these adjusted files and save this as a tiff. Therefore my adjustments would be reflected in aperture. However, any metatdata added or other category information used would not be saved back to the raw file only the tiff. The double files create a headache upon import because I do not see an option to import only tiff's. They would have to be saved in another location.
I am sure that others have struggled through this and come up with a good system. I plan to continue using the Nikon programs as raw file converters and to do editing. Aperture's primary purpose is as a data management program.
    Any ideas and comments appreciated.
    Thanks,

The system you have is the one i use and several other photographers i know use, the NX2 edits are not imported into AP3 and never will be, nor for that matter in any program bar NX2 as the information is proprietary to Nikon.
So if needed (and its small now with AP3) i export master and use NX2 edit the file resave the NEF file and also a TIFF or JPEG and then re-import into a sub section marked NEF Edits.

  • Importing Nikon NEF Raw files into iPhoto

Recently I purchased a Nikon D810 camera and have been trying out various settings to determine the quality of picture I can get. As a way to run through the test, I took pictures with different RAW (NEF) settings. I also took pictures in JPG format for comparison.
What I have found is that iPhoto (version 9.6) will import all of the JPG files but only the RAW files taken in the Large 14 bit or Large 12 bit format. It will not accept the RAW Small photos.
Has anyone run into this problem? And, if so, any ideas about how o address this?
I am using a Mac Pro for this work.
    Thanks.

That is what Apple's RAW support page says, so you can do nothing about it:
OS X Yosemite: Supported digital camera RAW formats - Apple Support
    See the footnote at

    Nikon D810†
