RAW files not showing when I shoot raw + Jpeg!!!

I have a strange issue that has only recently started happening.  I have started shooting raw + jpeg to speed up post processing.  However, after I import the files into Organizer the raw files will not show.  At first I thought it was the camera.  So I used a different brand DSLR.  I had the same issues with my Sony and my Canon.  I have shoot raw with the Sony for years and never had an issue.  I have shot raw with the Canon and haven't had an issue.  It is only when I shoot raw + jpeg.  I formated both cards prior to using them.
The files are there and not damaged.  I used the software from Sony and the software from Canon and was able to view the raw files.  I wanted to make sure what I put was accurate so I tried viewing the files again.  Even with the Canon software when I tried to view some of the raw files full screen it wouldn't let me.

I am using PhotoShop elements 10. My cameras are a Sony a230 and Canon 60d.

  • Canon 50D RAW files not showing

    Hi all,
I just got a Canon 50D as an addition to the current 400D (Rebel in the USA).
I am shooting 100% RAW files, and I am having a problem with previewing them.
I downloaded and installed the Camera RAW 5.2 fro Adobe and Lightroom and Photoshop have no problems opening the files.
The quick view show only a white (generic) icon, Preview a Question mark, while the RAWs from 400D show without a problem.
I can sort of live with it as I use Lightoom for all viewing and editing, but it is a bit annoying that a quick look with the Quick Look is impossible.
Anyone has /had this issue? Any solutions please?

OK, here's a boy who answers his own questions...
The Apple Camera RAW update 2.4 does NOT list 50D as a new supported camera model, and yet... what do you know... it does include support for Canon 50D.
    Done!
    Hope it helps someone.

As to the Adobe RAW, I thought that it also becomes a "system extension" (for the lack of a better wording) which COULD help, and which obviously doesn't. Thanks for the info.
In regards to the Apple Update, I just assumed that the latest would contain all previous updates, or if it did not, upon install inform that one needs the previous one installed first (Just like Java updates do) - which, again, obviously it doesn't. Again, thanks for the info and the link. I am downloading as I type this, so will see soon - after a restart, so an edit is coming...
Strange thing with the yesterday's RAWs working 100% and today's not at all.
Hopefully the 2.3 will do the trick.
    Stand by.
We have a problem, the 2.3 tells me that it DOES NOT NEED to be installed as a newer version is already installed. This would imply that previous updates are indeed included in 2.4 (just like the security updates - enough to install the latest one.
Well, that's a bit of a problem, innit?
Any way to manually pick the 2.4 off the system?

  • Raw files not showing in PSE12

I recently upgraded from a Canon T3 to a Canon 70D.  I had been using PSE11 with my T3 without any trouble.  But when I got the 70D it would no longer load my raw files.  I did some quick research and saw that I needed to purchase PSE12, so I did.  However, my files still aren't showing even after doing an update.  I'm running on Vista and while my computer is 7 years old it really is working great so I would like to avoid getting a new system just to upload the raw files.  I read about DNG but I really don't want the extra step of having to convert my files.  I just want to be able to import the raw files and work with them from there.  I read somewhere that it's possible to do a manual upgrade to camera raw 8.3, but I can't find any directions.  Would love some help.  I'm about to pull my hair our.  What's so hard about them offering the update through the program I just shelled out $80 for.  I shouldn't have to spend hours getting PSE12 to work.  Thanks in advance for any help!

Sure, it's not too hard to do the upgrade to camera raw 8.3.
First download and install the 8.3 dng converter to install the required profiles for camera raw 8.3
Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Windows : Adobe DNG Converter 8.3
Then download the Camera Raw_83_GM_32bit.zip from the following link
(it's under where it says Revert to 8.3 on Windows 32-bit Windows XP and Vista)
(since pse 12 is a 32 bit program on windows, you want the 32 bit camera raw plugin)
Adobe Camera Raw Help | Camera Raw/DNG Converter 8.4 on Mac OS 10.6, Windows XP, and Vista
Extract the contents of the Camera Raw_83_GM_32bit.zip and copy the enclosed Camera Raw.8bi file to
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\Elements 12\File Formats (64 bit windows vista system)
    or
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\Elements 12\File Formats (32 bit windows vista system)
It's a good idea to delete the old camera raw plugin before pasting the new one into one of the above places.

  • 1.4.1 Windows XP: Raw files not showing

I downloaded a lot of files from my camera (where I'm shooting Camera Raw and Jpeg), but only the jpeg files are visible in the filmstrip. I assume I've changed some setting inadvertently but can't imagine what. If I just look in the folder from CS3, I do see the raw files. Thanks for your help.

What camera and what version of Lightroom? If your camera is not supported by the version of LR used it will only import the JPEGs. And for good measure, what OS?

  • Files not showing when i try to open them in Adobe apps or Dreamweaver

I recently switched to Mac and currently have two machines, one at home and one at work. I noticed a few days ago while working on my mac at home that when opening files in photoshop or dreamweaver, files and folders were not showing, and i was only able to open them through the finder... i thought it might have been a problem with the portable USB hard drive, but the drive works perfect in my computer at work. Now, two days later im having the same problem with the mac at work, but this time accessing files in a network drive that we all share.
The number one problem I have is that while working in dreamweaver when placing an image in my HTML, i cannot see the file when looking for it.
Seems like the files in the finder are cached and only certain ones are displayed....
    Any ideas? HELP!
    thanks a lot

Sorry, yes this is Microsoft Excel.  The Microsoft XP has Excel files denoted as xl, the later versions of Microsoft Excel are denoted as xls files.  The later verions of Microsoft Excel open the xl files OK, does Excel for Mac not able to do this?

  • Network files not showing when saving a document in Word 2010

I have some users setup where their local profile on their laptop syncs with our server so they can take the laptop home, work on files, bring it back to work and have it sync with files and folders when they get back.
One user is able to open a document in her "My Documents" folder (which syncs with the network drive).  She's able to edit the document however when she goes to save the document to the same folder, she doesn't see all of the files that are
supposed to be in there.  If she just saves the file anyway and goes to her documents folder via Windows Explorer, she can see the file she saved as well as the other files.
I'm not sure why it's happening but it seems to only happen when she saves a file in Word.
The affected user is running Windows 7 64-Bit with Word 2010.
    Any thoughts?

    Hi,
What are the other files' types in that location?
Suppose the user is trying to save a .docx file in that folder, she should only be seeing the same type of files as the type she's saving.
You can have the user try to change the "Save as type" and check if she's able to see other files.

  • JPG Files not showing when I bring them into Dreamweaver CS5

HI Folks:  I've been a Dreamweaver MX user for years running on Windows XP and CorelDraw Suite 12.  I loved it.  Never had a problem.  The hard drive died and I was forced to buy new, and I now am running Windows7 which I hate with a passion.  I also had to upgrade to Dreamweaver CS5 and CorelDraw X5 because neither of the programs were compatible with Windows7.  Sorry about that.
My problem is all of a sudden, CorelDraw files which I export as jpgs into my web directory don't show up when I place an image placeholder on the page.  I drag the target to the file and the icon changes to a broken image rather than the file appearing as it normally would.  I can change the image to a png file and it will appear, but nothing I do makes the jpg show up.  I first thought it was some kind of permission problem because the jpgs in the directory all have liitle gold padlock icons in the lowere left hand corner.  I can make those go away with a complicated set of clicks on the permissions page for the directory, but that doesn't make them appear on the page.  I have no clue how to deal with this.  I'm pulling my hair out because I've got hundreds of graphic files on the site and moat of them won't show up.  any insight would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

Thanks Nancy, but there's no need to post a JPG file.  You just solved my problem.  Corel Draw uses CMYK as a default, and I was so busy looking up at a thousand things for the problem, I didn't bother looking down at the one that would solve it.....  The old "can't see the forest for the trees" thing.
    Thanks Again. -Ed

  • I am having issues when I shoot raw + jpeg. Raw files seem corrupt!!

I am having issues when I shoot raw + jpeg.  It seems the raw files get corrupted.  I have shot raw without an issue.  It is only when I shoot raw + jpeg.  The raw files will not show in Photoshop elements.  I installed the Canon software and was able to see all the raw files; however, I noticed that when I tried to view some full screen they would not show.  I also noticed that these raw files look block-ish.  They appear more digital looking.   Is there a specail card needed to shoot raw + jpeg?  I formatted the ones that I have prior to using them.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

While it could certainly be a card-reader problem, data corruption of any kind can be any of the following:
    1) the card
    2) the cable (if used)
    3) the card reader (if used)
    4) the computer RAM,
    5) thecomputer hard drive (or SSD)
A failure of any one of the above will result in corrupted images when viewed.  Since it seems to be RAW file related, as they are signifantly larger than JPGs, it's likely anything but the card reader or cable.
The only way to 'beat it' is eliminate each of the possibilities, starting with the easiest/cheapest fix.
    1) Use the cable.  If that solves the problem, replace the card reader.
    2) Use a different card.  If that solves it, toss the old card.
    3) If multiple sticks of internal computer RAM, swap them.  If that fixes it, or, the problem 'moves' to other images, replace the RAM.  It could be only 1 of 2 sticks bad, though, so use only 1 of the old sticks for a while to see if the problem recurs.
    4) If you have multiple hard drives in your computer, or an external one, use that to store the photos for a while.  If the problems go away, it's the drive.  Note that hard drive failures typically start slowly and increase gradually.  On occassion, though, your computer won't boot and it's all over.  If you are down to thinking it's the hard drive, it's time to get a good backup...NOW!
For what it's worth, I had a similar problem with corrupted photos.  Both RAW and JPGs were affected.  But as the problems were after having loaded and initially viewed them on my HD, I knew it was a computer problem.  It dogged me for a couple of weeks.  I even played swap the memory sticks, pull one out and run on one only, swap the one for the other (running on one), and it STILL kept happening.  I finally gave up and replaced both sticks of RAM.  That solved the problem.  So much for lifetime warranty from Hong Kong.  A very well regarded brand of RAM, no less.  My SSD drive was the next one on the list, it the new RAM didn't solve it.

  • .AVI files not showng when RAW Only selected at import time

    Hi board,
When I am looking at my SD card from my Nikon D90 in the Import view of Aperture I have the 'Raw Only' option selected for the RAW+JPEG Pairs setting. This results in .AVI files not showing up in the browser. Meaning that when I believed I was importing all my photos in RAW and my movies, my movies were actually not even considered for importing. I realize (now) that RAW Only quite litteraly means RAW Only, but why do I have to select Both when importing to get my movies? Then I would have to weed out any eventual JPEGs that I might have taken but do not want to import.
I'm simply curious why .AVI are excluded together with .JPEGs. I did not consider this to be intuitive or clear to the user (since the setting is called RAW+JPEG Pairs, not mentioning that it could possibly exclude movies).
    Thanks!

Same here, with Aperture 3.2.2, OS 10.7.2
That definitely seems to be a bug to me; if either "JPEG only" or "RAW files only" is selected, the File Types selector is ignored, and no audio or video media are available in the import panel.
    Regards

  • Changes I make in camera raw do not show up or update in bridge.

    Greetings.
    I’m working in PS CS4 in XP(government).
Changes I make in camera raw do not show up or update in bridge.
These images DO process with the changes when I run my actions.
For example: Open images in bridge. Edit. Open reaming images in camera raw. Push the images two stops in camera raw. Close camera raw. Images in bridge show no change. Run action to turn raw files into psd. Final PSD appear pushed two stops.
    Purging Cache make no difference.
    Thoughts?

You are using Embedded thumbnails.  These are small and fast, but do not show raw edits.
You need to use one of the HQ thumb options to see the edits.

  • "Canon SLR EOS 40D"  *Aperture and Canon's CR2 RAW files not supported.*

    Hi,
I just started playing with Aperture, and with my brand new *Canon SLR EOS 40D* camera. One problem, Aperture is not recognizing the RAW file format. I am using RAW Fine**-L. Even with that it doesn't even see the JPG shots in Aperture. Went to the Canon site and it shows CR2 format. IPhoto 08 sees the JPG files just fine, It also sees the RAW files just doesn't know what to do with them. I know that RAW files are not supported on IPhoto 08. The camera is only been out a few months, but still lost on why Aperture doesn't support the format. Maybe I am missing something. Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks in advance....

For some reason or another Adobe Photo Shop 7 is no longer supported in Leopard. When you lunch Photo shop 7 in Leopard. You get "An unexpected and unrecoverable problem has occurred because of a Program error. Photo Shop will now exit." even if you reinstall the program, still you get the same error. Photo Shop 7 is Not the latest and greatest, but in most cases, that is all you need. Not sure if they plan on a fix, so for now I put that program on a shelve.
    Hope that helps

  • Nikon 800e Creative Suite 6 design standard getting raw error on some raw files not all

I have the stand alone version of Creative Suite 6.  I am getting an error on some of my raw file not all of them "Could not complete your request because an unexpected end-of-file was encountered."  I have researched this endless hours but cannot find any help.  When I go to update in photoshop it tells me that my raw files are up to date.  Any one know what to do.
I have a Dell, 64 bit operating system, Windows 7 Professional,

I do format in the camera each time after downloading the files with the reader installed in my computer.  This last download nef file 15 gave me that error but nef file 17 would open just fine no problem.  When I contacted the camera store today about this on going problem I told them that I had gotten a new card for the camera but the problem is still there.  They wanted to know if the file would open in Nikon Capture but I don't have that installed on my computer.  I did put Nikon ViewNX2 on and the file would open and I have a different image viewer that will show me raw files and it opens there but not in photoshop.  He thought it might be a software problem.

  • When importing RAW files in Photoshop why does camera raw 8.6 only import 1 size?

When importing RAW files in Photoshop why does camera raw 8.6 only import 1 size from canon 5d mark iii, in older versions I used to be able to import the files as larger images. It use to have a number of options for the images size. The option now is smaller than the maximum size used to be.

You know what - I'm sorry
I'd had a crazy long all-nighter session sorting out images for a client, then decided - when I should have simply gone to bed - to set up the new photoshop. At the very start I made a silly mistake, tried to sort it out then decided to call it a day, responding to your remarks with the problem still in my head but feeling more and more tired.
Responded again to your comment earlier with the problem still in my head but not in front of me on the screen - however with a fresh head I just turned it all on, opened up PS and today could instantly see what was going on - Oops!
Thank you for being patient with a sleep deprived photographer who must have been getting annoying yesterday
    I am officially embarrassed

  • Canon 5D Mk II Raw files not selectable by Adobe DNG 5.5

Well  to be more clear then the thread header, I am not able to select my old Nikon 5700 Coolpix files either. In other words the files are grey but the Adobe DNG browser is working when looking for file to select. I dropped the first download in the trash and downloaded again but same result.
I  have CS4 and all software is listed as compatible with Canon 5D mkII files. A friend of my was able open my 5D files from Adobe DNG 5.5 that were on his Windows platform.
i did not see any special instructions, and seems intuitive enough, but it must be some kind of Adobe 101 question. Any ideas out there. Thanks.

Well sorry for any confusion here. I don't think my question is vary misleading though.
I have a MAC using OS 10.4.11. G4 Dual 1000 Gig (2002) processors, 1.5 Gb SDRAM (maxed), Dedicated 80 Gb Scratch Disk for Photoshop, 500 Gb Internal Drive.
All operations are done using the MAC OS.
All files are grey when viewed through the  "Adobe DNG Converter 5.5" application browser. If you are familiar when you open Adobe DNG Converter the vary first step in the process is to ( 1. "Select Folder" ). Pressing this button opens a FINDER then if you will , (many applications refer this as using a their browser to locate files for opening).
I am referring to RAW files, and as stated earlier those from the 5D mk II and those from the  Nikon coolpix 5700 are not available for selection, or opening by Adobe DNG Converter 5.5, yet they are listed as being current with DNG Converter 5.5.   "All files are grey", So none of the image files have black text suggesting you may select those.
My  understanding is this converter was made for RAW files, not  "jpeg",  in hopes are creating a last RAW file format Standard that would be a usable archival format across mulitple platforms and through time   . The RAW files are Full 21 megapixel files, not the smaller files sizes  of RAW available on the 5D (ie: sRAW1, or sRAW2). The DNG converter should open all 5D mk II RAW files regardless of megapixel size unless otherwise stated.
My files can not be an issue , because also  stated  was that my files were opened by a DNG converter loaded on a Windows platform.
    Procedure performed as follows:
         - Open DNG Converter 5.5 on my Power MAC
         - Press " Select Folder " step number list as "#1"
         - DNG Finder or Browser opens allowing one to find the folder said RAW files are contained within for purpose of selecting full 21 megapixel RAW Format CR2 files for Conversion processing to a DNG file format.
         - Oops, can't select, files have grey text appearance. There are no image files at all with Black Text of any format available for selection, so can't select.
Adobe Photoshop CS4, Adobe CS4 Bridge, Adobe Camera RAW, Canon Utility package for the 5D mk II all these applications see the files, and function with them, no crashes, not hang ups, a little slower then the world turns now days but they do what they were meant to do.
    Thanks again.
