Raw Image Plug-Ins for Elements 12

I have Photoshop Elements 12 running on Windows 7 Home Premium, which I assume is 32 bit. I need to be able to edit RAW (NEFF format) image files from a Nikon D4s camera. I do not see a 32 bit version of Camera Raw 8.5, 8.4 or 8.3 that can handle this file type, and installing any version of Camera Raw does not work. I can bring in JPG files into the RAW editor, but that defeats the purpose of editing RAW images. This should be an easy download, but I have spent many hours trying to no avail. Any help that works would be appreciated.

Hi Michel,
I should have thought about a DNG converter as I already had an older one for Olympus ORF files, although I also think Adobe should make their RAW file editor updates MUCH easier to find and install! Actually, it could be made trivial. I went around and around in circles for hours trying to find out how to update Elements 12, which I had just bought recently. If I pay for the disk, I should be able to search for "elements 12 camera raw update", find it in seconds and download it. After all those hours, I never did find a version of Camera Raw that would work on either of my two PC's. Anyway, thanks for the help. At least now I can convert to DNG and edit those.

Elements 10 is too old for this new camera. It can't be updated to the ACR 8.5 version, you would need PSE12 or 13.
Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
You can download the free Adobe Dngconverter which can batch convert whole folders of your Sony raw files to the DNG raw format that your PSE10 can handle.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hd_Photo
"HD Photo has been announced by Microsoft and the Joint Photographic Experts Group to be under consideration for a JPEG standard, tentatively titled JPEG XR.
"The HD Photo bitstream specification claims that "HD Photo offers image quality comparable to JPEG-2000 with computational and memory performance more closely comparable to JPEG", that it "delivers a lossy compressed image of better perceptive quality than JPEG at less than half the file size", and that "lossless compressed images are typically 2.5 times smaller than the original uncompressed data".

"HD Photo plug-ins for Adobe® Photoshop® CS2 and CS3 have been officially released for both Windows and OSX. They're available now from the Microsoft Download Center. [Links on this webpage]
"The Windows version is supported on Windows XP and Windows Vista, and works with Photoshop CS2 and CS3. While not officially supported, it will also work with limited features with older versions of Photoshop and with Photoshop Elements. The included README file has details.
For PSE6, I installed it to
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 6.0\Plug-Ins\HD Photo Plugin for Adobe Photoshop\
It works properly, as far as I can tell, for both Opening and Saving.
File size and processing speed seem consistent with the claims for the format.

Regular JPEG is capable of high definition (size) images.
The "HD" in "HD Photo" is a reference to the fact that the bit depth can
greatly exceed the 8-bit limitation of regular JPEG. That's primarily
of value in high-quality photo editing, and for archiving originals.

DVD player upconversion is no better than the upconversion built-in to
any decent HD TV; i.e., it's mostly just marketing hype.

  • How can I add my software in Adobe's Third-party plug-ins for Adobe Premiere Pro ?

    Hi,
Our company have a software called Moyea Importer for Adobe Premiere.
Moyea Importer for Adobe Premiere is a recommended FLV, MPG, RMVB, HD  video import plugin for Adobe Premiere Pro. This plug-in enables users  to import FLV videos with various codec like AVC/H.264, AAC, Screen  Video, Nellymoser, MP3, PCM, and Sorenson H.263. Besides FLV video, the  plug-in allows AVCHD import and HD video import in MTS, M2TS, TP, TS,  and MKV formats.
Moyea Importer for Adobe Premiere do not convert your video so it keeps  video quality for you. The plug-in automatically detects the Adobe Premiere versions on your  machine and you can choose the versions to install the plug-in. It  currently supports Adobe Premiere Pro 1.0/1.5/2.0/CS3/CS4 and Elements  3.0/4.0/7.0/8.0.
I notice in Third-party plug-ins for Adobe Premiere Pro this part, Adobe didn't get any such plug-ins. They only have two file support plug-ins and Moyea Importer can fill the blank.
Now I want to submit this software on Adobe's site but I don't know where to submit or who I should to contact. Any suggestions? I really need your help and I am sure it is really good software.

  • Moving plug-ins from Elements to CS5

    Hello,
I just installed CS5 and have been using Elements 8, i had purchased the TopazLabs plug in package a few weeks ago and now i want them to work in my Photoshop CS5.  Can someone please tell me the steps to take to move or copy them into CS5, i am not 100% sure where they go.  I did see the plug in folder in CS5 in my "program file (x86) >Adobe>Adobe Photoshop CS5>Plug-Ins.  Is that the right path? Also, do i just dump the files in one by one or do they go into a specific folder once i am in the plig in folder itself.  I have 12 differen  folders within the Plug in file/folder.  I need some reassurance to make sure i am doing it correctly.  I dont want to mess anything up with CS5.  Thank you for any help you can provide.

Thank you very, very much for helping me out, i didnt even think about the fact that Elements plug ins may not even work with Photoshop jCS5 so thanks for setting me straight on that.  I really want those plug ins but ever since i installed CS5 i cant get my Photoshop Elements 8 program open, it opens and a split second later it shuts down  and have no idea why.  I was using Elememts that day that i installed CS5 so i know it worked prior to the install of cs5.  I am using windows 7 64bit.  I put a phone call into Adobe who said they would call me back in 8 min and that was at least 2 hrs ago.  I am not to computer literate so i dont dare start messing with files until i get instructions from someone who does know what there doing.
Also, in response to the question about how i got the Topaz plug ins into Elements, well, i installed like normal and then had to copy the file into the Elements folder, it worked perfectly, that was Topaz instructed people to do if they didnt show up when you ran the auto installer.  I will get ahold of topaz and see if there is anything I can do about "exchanging' my elements serial number for a CS serial number, its worth a try anyway becasue i just bought them and I love what they do.
thanks again to all of you who helped me out on this issue.

While I personally still don't have any need for Translucator
    (I must
admit the name made me laugh badly) so I didn't test it, I
    think
Background Remover is quite capable. I was unable to achive
    good results
using it only on a couple of test images out of quite a large
    set, but I
must admit I wasn't able to do any better with hand masking
    using brush,
so I can't blame the plugin. Taking into account very basic
    bitmap masking
capabilities of FW, I think it's a great addon, and
    considering the price
for most competitors, it's clearly the best.
That's the end of our scientists report ;-)

  • How do I get administrative priveleges to install optional plug-ins for cs5

how do I get administrative priveleges to install optional plug-ins for cs5 and or how to install these optional plugins thanks

To add to Mylenium's reply, here's how to do it on Windows and this is what microsoft website says:
Why do I have to be an administrator to install a program?
Only administrators can make changes that will affect everyone who uses the computer, such as installing software and hardware and changing security settings.
If the program you are trying to install or run says you  must have administrator rights, but you are already an administrator on the computer, right-click the installation icon for the program, and then click Run as administrator. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
If the program installs but does not run, right-click the program icon, click Properties, click the Compatibility tab, select the Run this program as an administrator check box, and then try to run the program.

I installed Nik:s suite of plug-ins for LR5 but for some reason not all of them were installed. In the end I uninstalled all of the Nik programs from my Mac but before I reinstalled them I opened LR5 again to check. Under "photo" and "edit in" the plug-ins were still presented but no programs opened, of course. after reinstalling the plug-ins one of the programs appeared twice in the list but not the others. I´m going to reinstall them again and I´m wondering if there is anyway of erasing the links to the plug-ins under "photo" and "edit in" ???

Wow that was really quick, thank you so much.  Im not sure at all which version it was because i said it was around 4 years ago he bought it.  I know it isn't under his username, since he's a PC person (ugh) so i know its probably registered to one of our actual names.  isn't there some way to look it up since we did register it, because I'm not even sure where the disks are from when we bought it (we've moved a lot and also have two storage lockers, i know i would have kept it with other disks) but my cd rom drive is actually broken on my computer as well ( i think it got stepped on and is now squished and won't eject or run disks.)
So is there anyway they can look up that its registered to one of our names since we did register it when we bought and installed it, or do i really have to find the disk with some sort of proof of purchase (i know there would be no receipt after all this time)
either way, ill do what you suggested to the best of my abilities and thank you so much for answering my questions, i can't even open the program as its incompatible and find out the info from that) so I'm in a bit of a pickle and your response was so thorough and it didn't seem to be posted long enough to even write a well researched response, thanks, all the best,

If you missed our mail last month you should check it out as it got a lot of people talking. Today we have a follow-up.
Our web site has relaunched* and while the overall look of the site is similar there is a dramatic difference in how we are distributing our plug-ins.
Starting today Pro Import AE, Pro Import FCP and Pro Export FCP (both versions, for FCP7 and FCPX) are available at no charge. You read this right. Free.
We are unable to provide support at the same level as we have over the years, but we didn't want these plug-ins to go away while they remain useful. So if you can make use of these plug-ins in your projects, enjoy!
Thank you to all of our users, working with you for the last 10 1/2 years was a truly wonderful experience.

  • Nokia offers FREE plug-ins for some devices not supported by iSync 2.4

Nokia is now offering free plug-ins for otherwise unsupported Nokia mobile handsets in Mac OS X 10.4.9 and iSync 2.4 configurations. All support both Bluetooth and USB synchronization, and work only with Mac OS X 10.4.9 and iSync 2.4, bundled with it. The plug-ins listed below can be downloaded from Nokia here:
    http://www.nokia.com/A4299040
    Supported models include the…
    • E50
    • E60
    • E61i
    • E65
    • E70
    • N76
    • N93i
    • N95

That's a good point, and I should have taken the time to point that out.
It's not particularly important that Nokia has chosen to offer free plug-ins for a limited number of their mobile handsets not presently supported by iSync. The really important thing here is that a manufacturer has actually chosen to support the technology at all!
I do support a vibrant developer community, and think that Nova Media and others who have taken the time to create plug-ins and, who continue to support them, deserve to be compensated for their efforts. It worth noting that Nova Media was out front with support for Nokia mobile handsets about a year before Nokia itself chose to offer support. And, as Jan points out, they continue to support units that Nokia itself does not.

There are a number of companies out there that make plugins - just do a Google search for them.
In the meantime how does a hundred FREE effects, transitions and generators sound?

  • Plug-Ins for Logic Express 9

Does anyone know of any sites where one can download plug-ins for Logic Express 9 (either for free or for purchase)? Also, I know that one can use sound fonts (.au) with GarageBand --do these also work in Logic Express 9 and, if so, do they need to be reinstalled for Logic or do both programs read the same source files?
    Thank you!

To piggy back on previous posts, I would definitely pursue Native Instruments. While some may of the plug-ins may seem a bit on the pricey side, you will certainly get your money's worth. If you're looking for strong lead and bass sounds, I would encourage you to check out Massiv - it's my go-to plug-in of choice. I believe there is even a limited demo to try if you want to play around before purchasing.
    Hope this helps.
