You're welcome!  It's usually CS5 and below that has the ACR update problems.
What counts is that you are back in business.

  • Canon EOS D60 CR2 raw images don't open in Photoshop.  Why?

I know this question has been asked many times but I couldn't find a thread with an answer.  I have just taken my first images with my Canon EOS D60 (upgraded from 1000D) and find that the CR2 raw images aren't recognised by Photoshop.  I remember I had this issue when I first had my 1000D but cannot remember what I did.  I have CS4 V11.0.2 and tried to update Camera Raw but it says no updates are available.  I have Lightroom 3 and that opens them ok but not Photoshop.  Sorry .... but can anyone tell me again what the problem is?  Thanks. :-(

You can get support for the latest cameras in CS2, CS3 and CS4 through our FREE DNG Converter:
    Mac: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4923
    Win: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4924
There are other benefits to using DNG besides backward compatibility if you haven’t explored those:
The metadata, keywords and RAW adjustments are stored in the file – along with a processed preview of the image. This makes the file portable and keeps your metadata safe and secure.
DNG files are smaller than the original RAW file which will save you disk space and time in the long run.
DNG is an openly specified file format which means the file format isn’t going away. So if you use another RAW processor that supports DNG, you don’t have to worry about compatibility or portability of your metadata.

  • RAW images are not displayed

I noticed today that one of my albums containing old RAW images (3 years old) are not shown in the preview. The images have been modified in an older version of iPhoto, but the change is gone. I can still open through Photoshop or iPhoto but do not see the edited version anymore ... Does anyone have a clue why?

Canon PS 9, 10 Canon EOS 300D, 40D ... all my previous cameras, but not all images. As said, there seems to be no rule. Some pictures in the middle of a "roll". But sometimes several events in succession. All images can be opened in Preview. All images can be displayed in the Finder and iPhoto QuickView. If I want to show the images in the preview, are shows the unedited version. If I want to edit the pictures back into iPhoto, then the old edits will become visible again (for some pictures) but they can not be saved.
I have about 35,000 photos in the library, spread over about 1600 events.

  • Images are not showing in photoshop very well unless I scroll up close

    Hi there
thanks for you help in advance
I have an issue where if I open up a image that has been sent from my re-toucher in my photoshop cc it is not displaying properly, it looks almost like its got a whole tonne of noise/almost pixelation type look to it, but when i scroll wheel in closer it starts to view perfectly again.
Why would this occur? it dosent seem to happen to images that I have taken and open in photoshop but when it goes off to my re-toucher and back again it happens.
    Thanks again, any help appreciated.

    Well, there's your whole problem.
There's much more information in a raw file than in a lousy JPEG, where the whole image has been compressed to who knows what a degree and who knows how many times.

    ATTENTION!
You should UNCHECK your C: drive in the list of scratch disks ASAP!
You have way too little space left on drive; using it as your primary scratch disk makes no sense whatsoever.
The rule of thumb I follow to figure out scratch space says to figure on 50 to 100 times the size of your largest file ever multiplied by the number of files you have open.  I have seen the scratch file exceed 800 GB once, an admittedly rare occurrence, but it often exceeds 200 GB when stitching large panoramas and the like.
As an example—and stressing that I'm aware that others have even more scratch space than I do—I keep two dedicated, physically separate hard drives as my primary and secondary Photoshop scratch disks and a lot of GB free on my boot drive for the OS.  I also have 16 GB of RAM installed.
Additionally, if you only have a single HD, i.e. your boot drive, you'd need it to be large enough to accommodate both the swap files of the OS as well as Photoshop's scratch.

  • Updated acr to 6.2.0.29, but LX5 raw images do not open

    Hi,
I just purchased two cameras, the Panasonic dmc-fz100, and the dmc-lx5. I have no problem with the fz100, and can open the raw images in adobe photoshop cs5,(acr v 6.2.0.29), and can also convert these files to dng, using the dng converter v6.2.0.28. Unfortunately, I cannot open the raw files of the dmc-lx5. My operating system is OSX 10.6.4. Anybody run into this problem? Any suggestions?
    thanks for any help,
    Robert

    Hi,
I can confirm that also using Windows Vista as operating systems the dng converter v6.2.0.28 doesn´t work with the Panasonic dmc-lx5 (program finds no files to process). I tried also Lightroom 3.2 which should be able to process the dmc-lx5 raw files according Adobe but here the same problem: Only a wildcard with the message "preview for this picture is not available" is shown instead of a preview.
    Any workaround available?
    thanks,
    Ralf

  • D800 RAW files will not open in Photoshop CS6

I have just installed the CS6 upgrade to Photoshop CS4 Extended, but now the software will not read the RAW files from my D800.
I have followed Adobe's instructions to check that I have the correct RAW plug-in (7.0.0.308) which I have.  I have uninstalled the software and reinstalled the software without success.  I do not want to convert my RAW files into DNG files, so I have ignored that step.
The 'Open in Photoshop' instruction in Lightroom 4 does not open my D800 RAW files either, although the files can be opened in Lightroom 4 OK.
Any idea what the problem is?

Brilliant!  ACR 7.1 Beta allows D800 RAW files to be opened within CS6 and it also allows Photoshop 4 to open D800 RAW files in Photoshop CS6.
It says that the Beta version will expire on 30/6/2012 after which it will keep advising on a daily basis although it will still work.  Any idea, what happens next?   Does Adobe issue a proper ACR 7.1 and distribute it as part of the update service?

  • Images do not open in Photoshop Elements 10

I am using iPhoto 11 on my MacBook Pro. I have set the Preference for editing to use PSE 10. When I was using PSE 9, images selected in iPhoto for editing opened in PSE 9.
Since I have upgraded to PSE 10, when I select an image for editing, PSE 10 will open, but the image does not appear. I have also tried right clicking and designating edit in external editor. The images still do not show up in PSE 10. Why would 9 have worked but 10 not work? I have uninstalled and reinstalled PSE 10.
Ther version of PSE 10 I am using is from Costco and didn't give an upgrade option. Installed like a new app. I have also uninstalled PSE 9.
    Any suggestions?

    This is probably your problem:

  • Images not opening in Photoshop

Hopefully just a quick 'tick this box' answer will sort this one out.
When I select to "open with external editor' a TIFF is generated, Photoshop CS opens but that's all. What do I need to change for the image to actually open in Photoshop for editing? Same happens for RAW, JPEG or any other format.
    Many thanks in advance.

what ed said and if the image is not opening in Photoshop
reselect Photoshop as External Editor from Aperture's Preferences

  • Canon G7 x RAW will not open in Photoshop cs6

My new Canon G7 X RAW files will not open in Photoshop cs 6.
I downloaded the new plugin but still won't open.

    it´s not supported yet.
    you have to wait.

  • RAW image is being opened in all Adobe programs cropped from left and right!

I'm already asking this in After Effects community, but this problem is happening in Lightroom as well, and Photoshop.
My 5Dm3 RAW images are being opened cropped. But Windows Photo Preview opens them completely.
    Please help if you can.

Geoff the 5D MKIII was introduced about the time of the bug report now marked as "Implemented." I just found this post by Eric Chan on the Photoshop Family site from six months ago and it appears it isn't "implemented" for older camera models, including the Canon 5D MKIII.
Eric Chan (Camera Raw Engineer) 6 months ago
Unfortunately, we can't change the existing 5D3 support (even though technically we know how to do it) because that would post a backward compatibility issue for the images that folks have already shot.  In particular, many 5D3 images that have already been cropped by the user in ACR/Lr would suddenly appear to have a different crop, and that would be far worse.  My suggestion:  If you have a 5D3, don't set the in-camera crop (always leave it to full 3:2 aspect ratio).
Victoria Brampton suggests (15 days ago) using the DNG Recover Edges plugin-in, and stop using in-camera crop settings.

  • D300 will not open as NEFS or DNG with CS2

    hi,
using CS2 ( the only pshp activated on my MBP )
forgot to deactivate my home G5's.
    purchased the D300
did not install its software NX or suite
did insert ACR 4.3.1 into adobe plug in
and also converted the NEF to dng
i still cannot open the files.
is it impossible to use CS2 with the D300? must i use CS3
    or
    what am i doing wrong?
    must capture NX be installed
    thanks

ACR 4.3.1 will NOT work with Photoshop CS2. The latest version that is available for Photoshop CS2 is ACR 3.7. There will not be any further updates. You need to to download and use the DNG converter, version 4.3.1. It will create DNG copies of your raw images that will open in Photoshop CS2 and ACR 3.7. Capture NX does not have to be installed to make this happen. You just need to use the most recent version of the DNG converter along with the correct version of ACR.

  • Images from Canon 7D mark 2 will not open in Photoshop CS6

Images from Canon 7D mark 2 will not open in Photoshop CS6

    Hi Ferdinand12345,
Cannon 7D mark II has been included in the ACR 8.7. I would advise you to wait for the 8.7 camera raw to release.
In the meanwhile you can go to labs.adobe.com and download the 8.7 DNG converter and convert the files to DNG and then try to import.
    Thanks
