Raw images not automatically rotated since SN upgrade

Since my update to Snow Leopard, my Sony Alpha Raw portrait images are not automatically rotated when importing into Aperture 2.1.4.
The same problem is visible from the Finder.
It is a Mac OS Raw support problem I guess?
Anybody else? On another Raw format?

Yes. Same problem here since SL: When importing images shot in portrait orientation from a Sony A700 using RAW or cRAW format, they appear in landscape orientation in Aperture ('sideways'). This is annoying, adding another pass in the workflow to correct orientation. This issue does not occur with A100 RAW formats; orientation is preserved correctly.
Any other experiences with this issue? Any solutions?
Thanks!

    Bridge 5.0.2.4.

There is an ignore EXIF setting Preferences. I can't remember if that is Bridge or Photoshop, but IIRC it is for DNG files.
Right.  Check Photosho > Preferences > File handling and make sure 'Ignore EXIF tag, is not checked.  I think that might do it, so long as it refers to sidecare files, because only RAW files would have one.

  • Black & White Raw Images are Automatically Colorized -- Why?

I am using a Lumix GF1 and shooting in black & white and raw.  I have the latest Adobe Camera Raw Program (5.6, I think), Photoshop CS4 and Bridge.  I upload the images from the camera to my pc using Bridge.  They appear in Brdige one-by-one in black & white.  After the last image, Bridge converts them all to color automatically -- and I can't figure out how to stop it.  Can anyone help me?  This only happens to the raw images, not the jpegs.

There is no such thing as a "black and white raw" image or image file.  The B&W is just a tag in metadata that tells the camera software to show you a b&w image, but the raw file wll always have the full color information.
Camera Raw by design ignores the proprietary b&w tag set by your camera.
You can always convert to grayscale in Camera Raw.

you haven't lost anything, it's virtually impossible to delete your Zotero library by accident.
You may just need to show your add-on bar (View --> Toolbars ---> Add on Bar).
To check if Zotero is disabled, go to Tools--> Add-ons --> Extensions.
Make sure to check for Zotero updates, you may need the newest version (2.1.10) for FF6 compatibility.
As a general piece of advice, if technical problems make you frantic, don't perform major software upgrades in the middle of a project. Also, support for Zotero is better on the Zotero forums than here.

  • Canon 350D Raw images not recognised

    Hi,
I'm using a Canon 350D (UK version of Digital Rebel XT) and OS X (specifically preview and iPhoto) won't recognise the .cr2 raw images it produces.
The images have finder thumbnails but if I try to open them I get:
The document "xxx.cr2" could not be opened.
Couldn't open the file. It may be corrupt or a file format that Preview doesn't recognize.
In iPhoto I get an 'Unreadable files' alert telling me it can't read them and then lists the files.
I know that it should work fine and am stuck in terms of what I'm doing wrong.
This problem has existed since I was on 10.4.7 when I bought the computer and camera - I'm now on 10.4.9. I did download the Aperture trial to see if that helped and had the same problems. Reinstalling OS X made no difference.
    Any ideas?

    Imac 20" C2D   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Actually, I was getting support for my Canon Powershot S50 in 10.4.8 (at least I could open the Raw files, although Image Capture mysteriously stopped downloading them from the camera), after doing the 10.4.9 Combo update Preview announced it could not open the files. I went in and hacked this file:
    "/System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/ ImageIO.framework/Versions/A/Resources/Raw.plist"
Changed the entry for Canon S60 (which I don't have) to Canon S50. Preview will now open the files, haven't tried Image Capture yet to see if it is still broken (works fine in Panther BTW). See this discussion in MacOSXHints:
    http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20051101035330228
It worked sort of for me (at least I can open the Raw files I already have).

  • Raw images not recognised in CS5

I am suddenly experiencing problems with Bridge not recognisng my Raw images. I have a new Canon EOS70D which has been fine - but suddenly now when I download the files from the camerato open in Bridge, I get a message saying 'Unable to use the Camera Raw plug-in. It is not compatible with this version of Bridge."
I have read the help files and have tried upgrading my Raw plug-in to 'Camera Raw 8.2 and DNG Converter 8.2'. This was done carefully, folllowing the istructions of how to do it and removing the older version.
Adobe don't want to knwo as CS5 is not supported any more. Can anyone please help? Should I delete CS5 and reload, or is there an answer to this?

If you actually installed Camera Raw 8.2 that is probably your problem. The last version of Camera Raw you can use with Photoshop CS5 is version 6.7. You can use the later versions of the DNG converter, even the latest version. But you are going to have to get rid of Camera Raw 8.2 and go back to version 6.7.

  • Scanner is not being recognized since I upgraded to OS X 10.9

My scanner on my Konica Minolta Magicolor 1690MF is not being recognized via image capture since I upgraded to OS X 10.9 - anyone have a fix for that?  If I knew this was going to be the case I would never have upgraded!

Follow the directions in this Apple Advice Letter:

and see if that works. If not then please be as descriptive as you can when posting your issue. If you are getting error messages it may be helpful to note what they say or even better take a screen shot and incorporate into your post.

  • Why are my RAW images not being read, showing up as black rectangles?

I installed the newest version of iPhoto because the RAW images were not readable. And after doing a little research, I needed to upgrade. Now, it is acting like it can see them, but they are black rectangles. Except the first one, of like 300, the bottom half of the photo is there, but the top half is blacked out.

    And
    What camera?

  • Canon S120 RAW images not working with iPhoto. Why.

Canon S120 RAW images why they can't be downloaded to iPhoto and/or when will Apple upgrade iPhoto so they can?

Raw Support for each model of camera has to be added individually. That's Model not brand. The Raw from an S120 is not the same as the Raw from an S110 and so on. This is a pretty new camera, and the makes don't supply the Raw decoding, so they have to be reverse engineered. Then that will be released as part of an OS or camera raw update.
Let Apple know you want this camera supported.

  • Raw Images not recognised.

WHAT have I done wrong? Running Windows 7 ...Photoshop CS5... But cannot open Raw images from a Nikon D300. The 'Latest' ACR w 6.7.1 is downloaded.. Screen message says it is the wrong sort of document.

ps cs5 shipped with cr 6.0 which is sufficient for your nikon d300.
but to see which cr version is installed For Photoshop CS5 - click help > About Plug-In > Camera Raw. The version is listed in the right side of the window.
if that's not 6.71, Double-click the downloaded file and follow the onscreen instructions.

  • Raw images not Photo Streaming to Aperture

When I use the camera adapter to download from my SD card to my iPad both the raw and jpeg download. When the images are put onto Photo Stream only the jpeg makes it to Aperture on my iMac.

Photostream doesn't claim to work with all RAW images, the problem is that each manufacturer uses a proprietary RAW format, it would be difficult to keep up with all of them.

  • My screen on iPhone won't rotate since latest upgrade

My screen on iPhone won't rotate since latest upgrade

Look in the status bar to see if you have accidently turned on the orientation lock. It would be an icon near the battery icon that looks like a small lock with a circular arrow around it. It will also be in the Control Center, when you swipe upwards from the bottom of the phone screen. Top row of icons, the last one on the right. White is on, black is off.
I've also asked the hosts to move your post to an iPhone forum, so you can get more assistance.

  • High ISO RAW files not importing properly since upgrading to Yosemite

Since updating to Yosemite I am having a problem with trying to use RAW files shot at ISOs higher then 800. I am simply getting a black rectangle with a message about "unsupported file format". I am able to import the images using the Canon software, then convert them to JPEGs.

Hey Ronin, thanks for your reply! The audio codec is Linear PCM.
The audio codec options I have, from redcine-x, are:
    Linear PCM
    AAC
    Apple AES3 Audio
    Apple Lossless
    MPEG-4 AAC Enhanced Low Delay
MPEG-4 AAC Enhanced Low Delay with SBR
    MPEG-4 AAC Low Delay
    MPEG-4 HE AAC
    MPEG-4 HE AAC V2
Would one of them be better?

  • RAW Images not displayed properly

If I send an email to my mum from my iPad3 and she views it on her iPad2 she can see every photo perfectly. However if she looks at the same email on the iMac using Entourage she can't see every photo. As often as not she gets the following error "could not complete request Photoshop does not recognise this type of file" Some come through OK but not all.
I'm sending the images as RAW files as I've imported them straight into my iPad from my camera on holiday. My iPad is running IOS 6.1.3.
My mum's iPad is at 6.1.3 as well. Her iMac is running 10.6.8 and it's Entourage 2008.
Before this happened I was at her house and tried uploading photos directly from my camera to her iMac and it did tell me that it didn't recognise some of the file formats (all were RAW) but I didn't have time to investigate then.
I have since uploaded all of the same files from my camera to my iMac which is running Mountain Lion without any problem.
The camera is a Canon 650D and I can't think of any other info to tell you :-)
    Anyone got any ideas?

Good question! The point is that when my mum started using her mac for more than video editing mac mail was a lot worse than today so she chose  Entourage. Today, despite my best efforts she refuses to change over and says (with more than a tad of justification!) that as she is now 87 and well used to Entourage she doesn't see why she should have to change.
Believe me if I could get her to use Mac mail I would, but my main task at the moment is to get her to upgrade to Mountain Lion from Snow Leopard so a minor issue such as this with the pictures isn't worth my trying to argue over :-)
Thanks for the help though. Will be trying that later today.
    Cheers
    Mike

  • Raw images not readable by lightroom or CS3 from 5d mkii

Just got my new 5d mkii and went out to shoot my first images with it.  Capturing RAW only I shot 88 frames at Crater Lake.  When I got home I went through my normal procedures for downloading my images with Lightroom and it did not recognize the file type and could not process the images.  Tried getting the images up using photoshop cs3 and it also did not recognize the image type.  Finally I installed the Canon DPP software on the computer and the images showed up.  I was able to move the images from DPP to photoshop finally, but they transferred as TIFF files, not RAW.
Does anybody have an idea as to what might be going wrong?  I have used the same procedures with my 40D with no problems at all.
ANy help will be greatly appreciated!
    Thank you,
    David

Lightroom 2 was released before the 5D2.  You might have to (or want to) upgrade to Lightroom 4.  I found this out the hard way.  I had LR3, and then bought the 6D and learned that LR3 will NEVER support 6D camera raw.
There were ways to get around it, but all were fiddly and I really wanted it to work the way it is supposed to, without any cobbled-together extra/external steps, so I bought the upgrade.  I was very pleased with LR 4 vs. LR3, so you may be very very happy to get an upgrade from LR1 to LR4.  Much better at noise reduction and general processing is improved overall.  The upgrade price is only about $79.00, compared to the stand-alone new purchase price of about $120.00.
    Good luck.
