RAW iPhoto to PSE 4

I have read the instructions, and must be doing something wrong--the process isn't working as described. My understanding is that to open and edit a RAW image in Photoshop, one must drag a previously unedited RAW image from iPhoto to the desktop. Then, open the image in PSE. This doesn't work for me. I get a dialog box, "Photoshop Raw Options," that wants dimensions of the image. From the "Get Info" screen on the RAW image, I get the dimensions, and enter them into the box. No go. The box doesn't like anything I put into it.
Anyone know the trick? What am I doing wrong?
20" iMac Core Duo.
Mac OS X (10.4.9), 2GB RAM.
Camera: Nikon D80

The solution was simple. Although I just bought PSE, the Camera Raw plug-in was old, version 3.3. I'm not sure what led me to check the version, or to see what update was available from Adobe. Regardless, I found version 3.7, downloaded and installed it, and now the process works as it should. Moral: ALWAYS check for updates, even if the software is "new."

  • Can't Open NEF RAW files in PSE 6

I cannot open NEF RAW files in PSE 6. I downloaded the plugin but that didn't fix it. Any suggestions?

    There is another choice.
You can download the free Adobe DNG Converter, then convert your RAWs to DNG, and then open them in the PSE6 Adobe Camera Raw editor. This doesn't require you updating your software to PSE9, or purchasing anything.

  • Help opening raw files in PSE 13

    Hello,
I upgraded PSE 13 from PSE 9. I was using PSE 9 with my Nikon 600 (because I couldn't open the 600 raw files in PSE 9) by using the Adobe DNG converter. This was working fine. Since upgrading I can't open any Nikon 600 raw files in PSE 13 nor can I open the converted DNG files. It only recognizes jpeg files. The "Open in Camera Raw" option in the File drop down menu is also grayed out and can't be selected. I've tried the "updates" option from the Help menu and ran the updates, shut down PSE13 and also shut down computer and it still isn't working.  Wondering if I need to download a new ACR but can't find any that support the Nikon 600. Any help would be appreciated!

    Thank you for your help.
When I do the "Help" drop down menu there isn't an option for "adobe plug-in" just "about plug-in" which doesn't list any options that seem to help when clicking on and none that say Camera raw.
I read the manual instructions for downloading and am currently downloading the zip file; it is about 70% done. Will this help?
    This is what I'm referencing:
These instructions were originally written to install ACR 8.2 for PSE11, but have been updated to install ACR 8.3 with PSE12.  While ACR 8.3 RC would work with PSE11, ACR 8.3 final will not.  Only PSE12 will host ACR 8.3.
ACR 8.3 will work with PSE12 to open 70D files, but on an older Windows OS like Vista or XP  there is no compatible installer, so a manual install is the only option.  I should also say that the process outlined below does work on my Windows 7 64-bit computer, but I also have PS-CS6 and PS-CC installed on it, so it is possible that ACR 8.3 is dependent on something that wouldn't exist on a computer with only PSE installed on it, but someone else will have to confirm that.
I was able to get 70D files to open in ACR 8.3 on PSE12 by doing the following:
Download the ACR 8.3 for Windows update for PS-CC via the direct download link on the Adobe Blog - in the future this link will likely contain links to only newer versions of ACR but the process would be similar:
    http://blogs.adobe.com/crawlspace/2011/03/keeping-photoshop-up-to-date.html#notconnected
Unzip this downloaded setup.zip to a folder somewhere.
Inside the files from that zip is a folder called payloads \ AdobeCameraRaw8.0All-031213015928.
(Note that for future versions of PS and ACR the folder name will be different at the end, but the general format shold be similiar, and the important thing is that this is the folder without x64 in the path, because at this point PSE is a 32-bit program so we need the 32-bit version of the plug-in.  At some point in the future, PSExx may be 64-bit and the approporiate file or files could be the 64-bit version for the 64-bit version of PSE.  This zip file is for Photoshop which has both 32-bit and 64-bit versions so there are both versions of the plug-in as well.)
Inside that folder is another ZIP called Assets1_1.zip so unzip it somewhere.
Inside Assets1_1.zip there is a file called 1003.  This is the largest or perhaps only file in that zip and is the plug-in you need.
Copy this 1003 file into the existing PSE12 camera raw plug-in folder:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\Elements 12\File Formats or for a 32-bit Windows OS, into:  C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\Elements 12\File Formats
Rename the existing Camera Raw.8bi to Camera Raw_8bi_80 (in case something doesn't work and you need to rename it back, later).
    Rename 1003 to Camera Raw.8bi
After these steps you have the ACR 8.3 plug-in installed in PSE12 but not the camera and lens profiles, so install those by downloading and installing the DNG Converter 8.3:

  • IPhoto to PSE 11

Starting up, how do I import images (in folders and albums) from iPhoto to PSE 11 without creating a chaos?
    Should I un-install iPhoto afterwards?
    FH-elementary

Just to make sure: you do know you can use iphoto with the PSE editor? That it's up to you whether or not to use organizer? If you do decide to go with organizer, you can either use the From iPhoto command, or follow 99jon's suggestion to export the photos from iphoto, organize them in folders and put them where you plan to keep them, and then use From Files and Folders to import them. You might as well keep iphoto even if you delete the contents of your library--there are occasions where you may still want it for a project sometime.
(nb, I don't believe that you can get images from an iphoto backup as the wording of 99jon's post seems to suggest, at least not without restoring them to iphoto and then going through the steps above, any more than you could easily add images to iphoto from a PSE backup.)

  • Why can't I download Canon S100 CR2 RAW files into PSE 10?

I am using PSE 10 with a Canon S100 camera. I am successful in downloading all of my jpeg files and RAW CR2 files from my older Canon Rebel, but not with the Canon S100 CR2 Raw files.
When first downloading from the Canon S100 camera into PSE 10 and later doing them manually, I receive the following messages:  Nothing imported...files are not supported file types or alread in catalog.  File damaged or in a format that cannot be included in the Elements Organizer.
These problems files, by the way, were automatically added to my Window's My Pictures catalog and are perfectly fine.

Thank you for the info. It worked great, once I was
able to get around a second problem that prevented updating
from within the PSE 10 application (error U41M1C212). That
problem was solved by disabling the MS Virtual WiFi Miniport
Adapter (located in the Network and Sharing Center control
panel). It just goes to show me once again, how complex
computer apps are and how much we all have to rely on each
other to get anything to work properly (frustratingly
enough, since the companies we paid good money to for
their problematic software are not very helpful). Thanks
    again.

Try opening a CR2 directly from a folder by right-clicking
and choosing open with Photoshop Elements editor, if that
dosent work, update the appliactaion (required for the
    S100V)
In the Editor menu click Help >> Updates
    Then install amera raw 6.7

  • Can I transfer a Raw Photo to PSE 9 with a direct link and keep changes

I have limited expertise in all of this stuff so please understand.
I recently upgraded to PSE 9 because I bought the Nikon D7000.
Unfortunately I have had nothing but nightmares with the upgrade.
PSE has eliminated BRIDGE and I can no longer open a RAW file in PSE 9 from the camera.
They have something called Organizer but the Adobe Forum is full of issues about it.
I have found it useless and it may stem from both having a MAC and the D7000.
    *Here is my question :*
I can use Nikon Transfer to Nikon View NX2 to open the RAW files.
However if I make any changes in View they do not carry over to PSE and ACR (Adobe Camera RAW)
    AND
I cannot find a way to have a direct link from View NX2 to PSE 9 and ACR.
I have to drag and drop onto the desktop and then drag and drop into PSE / ACR.
*If I purchase Aperture ($80.00) can I make changes in Aperture and then have a direct link to PSE 9 if I need to make changes or adjustments in PSE and keep the RAW changes from Aperture ?*
I hope I made my dilemma clear.
    Thanks,
    Greg

Your question pivots about several issues, each of which will bear on what you end up doing.
Briefly, what you'll find is that Aperture does its own RAW conversion (and does it well). You can follow that with either of the following:
    - use PSE9 as an external editor, in which case Aperture creates a copy of the converted RAW file in either TIFF or PSD format (you choose), sends it to PSE9, and receives the changed file back. At this point you have two images in Aperture: your converted image (with Aperture adjustments, if added) and your externally-edited image. Note that your original RAW file is never changed, and remains available.
    - using Aperture, export a copy of your RAW original, and then open it in any program you want. In this case, that program will need to be (or include) a RAW converter. And Aperture will not track the file in any way at all once it is exported.
... can I make changes in Aperture and then have a direct link to PSE 9 if I need to make changes or adjustments in PSE and ...
So that's "Yes" to the first part and ...
... and keep the RAW changes from Aperture ?
... I'm not sure what you mean to specify in this part.

  • Can I upgrade the Camera Raw support in PSE 11 to version 8.3 or 8.4, so it supports my Nikon D5300?

I just upgraded my camera - and the Camera Raw support in PSE 11 is not able to support it.  Can I upgrade the Camera Raw plugin, or is Adobe going to force me to buy an upgrade to PSE 12 or another of their products?

You'd better complain to Nikon... Just like other camera manufacturers who issue new raw formats for each and every new camera. Adobe and all other software companies have to reverse engineer each new format. Those manufacturers could use the open and public DNG format (a few do).
Adobe answer to that problem is to provide a free software, the DNGconverter which can batch convert a folder of raw files to the universal DNG raw format which your old Elements version can read.

  • How do I install raw update in PSE 10?

I have PSE10 and Win 8.1 and want to try editing raw files. I have tried to install both
Camera Raw 6.6 update for Elements 10 and
Camera Raw 6.5 update for Elements 10
but the install fails with the following error message
    Elements Camera Raw 6.5 Updates
    Installation failed. Error Code: U44M2P7
    How can I solve this?
    Many thanks
    Anna H

If in the pse 10 editor you go to Help>About Plug-In and click on the words Camera Raw, which version does it say?
The latest camera raw update for pse 10 is 6.7, so try this installer for camera raw 6.7
Adobe - Photoshop Elements : For Windows : Camera Raw 6.7 update for Elements 10

  • Iphoto 11 + pse 9 editing

I have iphoto 11   pse 9 ,when I edit using pse as external editor and save simply clicking save ( not save as) when I try to reopen the photo a big black exclamtion mark appears. What's happening?

See if this info is helpful:
Using Photoshop CS3 or Photoshop Elements as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's Advanced Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop.  When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window
that indicates that  PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file.  You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 9 the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
s  I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.  In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:
NOTE: If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS/PSE without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in iPhoto".  That will let you either edit in iPhoto using the Edit button or Control-clicking on the thumbnail and selecting "Edit in iPhoto" or in PS/PSE by Control-clicking on the thumbnail and selecting "Edit in External Editor" in the Contextual menu.
This way you get the best of both worlds.

  • Wie RAW Entwicklung kopieren? How2 copy RAW development? PSE 11, CR 7.4

    Hallo zusammen,
    OP
    Hi @ll,
how can I copy the development of a raw file in PSE 11 / Camera RAW 7.4 on other files?
(I am a Lightroom user but this needs to be answered to a PSE User)
    many thanks & best regards
    OP

In the ACR dialog, when you click 'Done' or 'Open', the settings are saved in an xmp sidecar file. But not only, they are automatically saved in another file, the 'previous.xmp'.
In the raw development dialog, look at the title bar on the right part of the scree, with 'basic'.
On the right part of that bar, you have a small icon to let you choose various parameters settings : choose 'previous conversion'.
The settings are recovered from the last session and you can apply that settings to each file you open afterward.

  • Move photo from iPhoto to PSE "open in camera RAW"

    is there a simple way?

You need to tell iphoto to send raw files out of iphoto or it will make its own conversion and send a pre-converted file. Go to the iphoto preferences>advanced and turn on this checkbox:

  • Can't import Canon S 50 Raw Files to PSE 4.0.1 in Mac 10.5.2

Help. I'm transitioning from OS9.1 to 10.5.2. I brought my Firewire card reader and several CF cards of RAW CRW images from my Canon S 50 to the Apple store 2 months ago and was able to open them in PSE 4. Based on this I purchased an Aluminum 24" imac, put in 4GB of RAM and ordered Photoshop Elements 4. Reading the Adobe forums, two things were advised: upgrade to 4.0.1 and upgrade the RAW converter to v4.3.1. I did both and am unable to import the RAW CRW files from my Canon via CF card. They appear in Bridge, but do not open in Elements 4.0.1 . Have I done something wrong? My goal is to archive the files, but also convert them to DNG. Is the 4.3.1 upgrade wrong for these first generation Canon RAW files? I've scanned the archive prior to posting, and have posted to the PS Elements site. They suggested I ask advice here, as I've followed there upgrade advice and it didn't work. Thanks in advance. Paul

The download did say it is for Photoshop Elements 4. That is what has me so confused. I can't find where Adobe lists what specific Camera RAW files each upgrade will work with. I'm wondering if I should have stayed with the original PSE 4 RAW converter rather than doing the upgrade? If I do go back, will the older DNG conversion still work with more modern software in the future? I just purchased Elements4 for Mac because I tested it at the Apple store and it worked in OS 10.5.1. I hope the 10.5.2 upgrade didn't mess things up? My wife will kill me if I can't produce images of our new grand nephew. We saw him 23 minutes after he was born last month in California! She wants the photos NOW.

  • Photoshop elements 8 for Mac - how to move photos (events) from iphoto to pse

I have figured out how to move one  photo over through opening a file.  But I can't move a full event or album from iphoto.  Ive tried going to bridge but when i click on the iphoto folder, it takes me into my iphoto and I'm not sure what do then, no buttons or anything that seems to connect to PSE.  Any help would be appreciated!  I wish Adobe supported this product better for Mac users.  Maybe they read these discussions?

    Hi,
Are you opening iPhoto files from within Photoshop Elements? You can open all the files in an iPhoto event into PSE8 through a single click.
In Photoshop Elements, go to File menu > Open. In the browser window that appears, click Photos under Media in the sidebar. Now, you should be able to see iPhoto with all its events. When you click on an event and "Open" it, you should get all the photos of that event in the project bin.
Is this the problem being asked?
    Thanks.

  • Opening RAW photos in PSE 8

I have recently bought PSE 8. When I had my Canon 350D I could use it to edit RAW photos. I have just bought a Canon 550D and PSE 8 cant open any RAW photos now for editing.

I went to the Adobe site and from new downloads found the Camera
Raw 5.7 update for windows. Here is link
    to the pdf instructions
    http://www.adobe.com/special/photoshop/camera_raw/Camera_Raw_5.7_ReadMe.pdf
I created a new folder on desktop and moved the current Camera Raw.8bi file to that folder. then copied the new file in its place. opened elements and bingo it worked perfect.
