RAW opening photo that is distorted

This is my first thread on Adobe so please bear with me if I am not clear what my issue is.
Whenever I try to open a RAW photo in bridge and make adjustments, I have no problem. Once I open the photo in CS5, the picture is very distorted beyond recognition. I don't even have a clue what I'm editing. To give an example, I have taken a screen shot of my screen. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thank you in advance.

That screen shot suggest a display driver problem. Probably your driver's support for OpenGL has one or more bugs - this is a common problem. You might first try opening your preferences dialog window by hitting Ctrl +k then click on performance. In the resulting window uncheck "enable open gl drawing". If the problem goes away you will have a temporary workaround, but you should then download and install the latest display drivers for your graphics processor (on your video card) from the manufacturer, not Microsoft, as their's are often not the newest versions.

whoever is emailing you the photos is sending them as a .zip file not a .jpg most likely because there is more than one photo. unfortunately iPhone does not have a .zip file reader so whoever is emailing the photos has to make sure they are not zip ing them and resend them as .jpg files. (usually gmail tries to convert several images into .zip files)

I'm not sure if my iPhoto library is being backed up by Time Machine. I am backing up to a LaCie external hard drive. I can open photos that are in folders but not those that are in iPhoto.

I have used camera raw a different way but it won't seem to work with bridge.

Have you opened Photoshop or any other Adobe app that Bridge works with? You need to do this if you've upgraded PS or just signed up for CC.

Opening photos in Camera Raw format

I need to open my photos for the project I am working on in camera raw format to access the editing options I need. I repeat the same steps but they only open up in that format about half the time. Does anyone have an idea about what I am doing wrong?

They are jpeg photos that have been forwarded to me that I am then trying to Open As in camera raw format so that I can reduce the noise and get them ready to be displayed on a website. What has me bumfuzzled is that sometimes it works perfectly, sometimes it works if I try it a few times in a row and sometimes it just doesn't. ? So I thought there must be a different way to approach the access that I haven't found yet. One thing I thought of since my last post, but haven't had a chance to try, is that I am pulling these files out of my Windows Pictures rather than uploading them to pse first. Do you think that would make a difference?

I have been saving photos that have been emailed to me. They show up in the camera roll and then I put them in separate albums. My camera roll when I try to open it freezes and the thumbprints are a jumbled and blurred. This is on my ipad.

I can't get out of there unless I shut my ipad down and restart it. I can use other parts of my ipad ,but my camera roll remains frozen....help!

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.

Remember: we cannot see your machine. There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 8 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Basic things like :
- What version of iPhoto.
- What version of the Operating System.
- Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For instance: 'iPhoto won't export' is best explained by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
- History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted?

Aside from upgrading to pse 13, you can use the 8.7.1 adobe dng converter to convert the files to dng copies, which pse 11 should then open.
