RAW Photo Import from Panasonic Lumix

I reviewed this archived discussion thread iphoto and panasonic lumix dmc-fz28 raw (.rw2) files support and thought I found a solution, but the RPP app suggested still doesn't work.  My problem is that my MAC (OS 10.7.4) will not recognize my camera as a valid device.  It shows up momentarily in the finder, then disappears and give me the "...device was not ejected properly..." message...so, I can't even use the app to open the rw2 images!  Anyone have a suggestion?

That sounds like a faulty connection on the camera, mac or damaged cable.
Try a USB Card Reader in a different port with a different cable

  • Import from Panasonic DMC-FZ28 Lumix

Trying to import from Panasonic DMC-FZ28 Lumix but the only import option is the
in-built camera on my MPB (10.5.7).
I can see the camera in the Finder window and can click on various photos.
When the camera was connected to the USB port and select the setting as PC Connection.
Is there something else I need to do in order for iMovie to see this camera ?
    Thank you,
    Jay

If you are using iPhoto, import the photos into iPhoto. Then, in iMovie, start a new Project and name it (or open and old project). Open the Photo Browser in iMovie, and drag the photos in from there.
If you are not using iPhoto, drag the jpegs from your camera to a folder in the Finder.
Open iMovie. Start a new project and name it (or open and old project). Drag and drop the photos from the Finder window into your project.

  • Elements 11: Can't open raw files from Panasonic Lumix TZ60.  Will there be an update?

I have downloaded the Silkypix developer studio software that came with my camera (Mac Version) BUT my main camera is the Nikon D7100 and am used to using Raw in Photoshop elements 11.  Will there be a Raw update which includes Panasonic Lumix TZ60 or will I have to use different raw converters?  Thanks for your help.

The TZ60 needs the Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) plug-in version 8.4 or newer, which is only compatible with Elements 12, and only with OSX 10.7 or Windows 7 and newer.
If your computer and OS are new enough then you could upgrade to PSE12 and update PSE12 to use ACR 8.4 and be able to open the TZ60 raw files, but a new version of Elements usually comes out about this time every year, which means PSE13 is probably due out within a month so you might also wait a few weeks and upgrade to the newer version.
In the interim, again if your computer and OS are new enough, you can download the DNG Converter 8.4 or higher (usually you’d just get the newest version which is currently 8.6) and use it to create DNGs from your raw files and those will open in the older PSE11 ACR plug-in.
The DNG Converter is available, here:  http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates
And PSE12 is available, here:  http://www.adobe.com/downloads

  • Bug? Raw+Jpeg imports from an iPad mini

    Hi Everyone
I've come across a very strange importing issue with iPhoto 9.6 (910.29). I'm always on the go so I use my iPad mini as photo storage until I gain access to a computer. I’d take my pictures on the camera and then I’ll plug the sd card to the iPad and copy everything that is on the card (via the Apple Lightning to SD card Camera reader).
    I take pictures in (1) RAW only, (2) RAW+Jpeg and (3)Jpeg only.
When I import from the camera to the MacBook Pro directly via USB:
all the 3 formats are properly imported.
When I import from the iPad in iPhoto:
The pictures shot in (1) RAW only and (3)Jpeg only are imported properly
But when I import the (2) RAW+Jpeg ones, iPhoto will only import the Jpeg versions and will give me the error message "Unreadable file: The following files could not be imported. The file is in an unrecognized format" for the RAW versions of the same image.
Here is what I do not understand:
    - The RAW format that my camera uses (.RW2 for Panasonic FZ1000) is supported so there shouldn't be any issue.
    - (1) RAW only pictures are correctly imported
    - all formats are correctly imported when importing directly from the camera.
It seems this bug only affects RAW+Jpeg imports from the iPad?
Has anyone come across this issue before and if so, is there a fix or workaround? It is not that much of an issue as the RAW only files can still be imported from the iPad but I find this issue very curious.
Thanks in advance for the help.

Not sure about the fix but the workaround is to not shoot Raw+Jpeg, which is pretty pointless anyway, as importing the Raw to iPhoto means it creates a Jepg preview, so you end up with Raw +Jpeg+Jepg...

How can I keep my RAW photo files from converting to JPEG???

    Hello briggiebunny
If iTunes can read the movie files, then you will need to create an iPad version by going to the drop down menu File > Create New Version > Create iPad or Apple TV Version and then syncing that newly created file.
iTunes: Videos may be unable to sync to iPhone, iPad, or iPod

  • Dates not coming with photos imported from shared libraries

My partner and i both have macs, we both use iphoto. Usually we use the shared photo library features to exchange photos so that we both have all the photos we want.
The problem is that the dates don't follow. I'd actually like to see all the metadata imported (faces etc) but i'll live without that but the dates is a real problem.
I'm pretty sure they used to come with the photos imported from shared libraries, not sure why they stopped... Ideas?

How are you sharing the Libraries? How are you reading the dates?

  • HT4757 Is there ever going to be RAW compatibility with the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28 added to Aperture 3?

Is there ever going to be RAW compatibility with the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28 added to Aperture 3?
It's a good camera which I think has been overlooked in this area?
    Any advice you good people?

    Hello,
I don't know when but you can send a message to Apple so they can add that in a next update (not 100% sure but you can try).
Go here : http://www.apple.com/feedback/aperture.html and in the Feedback Type select : Harware compatibility.

  • Suppose you create an album of photos imported from your iPhone with roll, then delete those photos on the roll ... because they were also deleted on the album?

suppose you create an album of photos imported from your iPhone with roll, then delete those photos on the roll ... because they were also deleted on the album?

If you create an album directly on the phone, then if you delete the photo from its original album then it will also be deleted from all albums that you've copied it into; if you just remove it from the newly created album then it will just be deleted from that album, it will still be in its original album and any other albums that you've copied it into.

  • Why won't Aperture 2 support RAW files imported from Canon 60D when it does from my Olympus DSLR?

Why won't Aperture 2 support RAW files imported from Canon 60D when it does from my Olympus DSLR?

I'm afriad the fact that your Olympus dSLR is supported is no relevance.
The Raw from every model of camera is different. Note: that's every model not every brand. So, the NEF produced by a Nikon D40 is not the same as the NEF produced by a D60, the CR2 produced by a Canon 350 is not the same as the CR2 produced by a Canon 400.
Support for individual camera models has to be added one by one, and Apple will update the OS to work with the most recent version of the software. That's an incentive for you to keep up-to-date. So, for support for your 60D you'll need 10.6.5 plus Aperture 3 and/or iPhoto 11.

  • Opening RAW photos from Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ1000 camera

I am trying to open without success RAW photos from my Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ1000 camera after downloading and installing Camera Raw 8.6.  What is my problem?

Can you upload one of these raw files that don't work for you to a place like www.dropbox.com and post public download link to it?  Either something is wrong/different with the files from your camera or something is wrong with the software on your computer.  Being able to test a file on someone else's computer would help narrow down which.
    FWIW, I can open a sample FZ1000 rw2 file in PS-CC2014/ACR 8.6 from here:
    http://img.photographyblog.com/reviews/panasonic_lumix_dmc_fz1000/sample_images/panasonic_ lumix_dmc_fz1000_18.rw2
You might try downloading this specific image and see if it works for you or not.

  • How do I import photos import from iPhoto on Mac Os 10X yosemite?

unable to access photos and about ready to give up on lightroom. Need help please.

iPhoto stores photos in a hidden folder which makes for a challenge.
Easiest thing to do is to use the export function in iPhoto and select the
export original photo option. Export to a folder on your desktop to make it
easy to locate. You will lose any edits this way but is the only way to get
at your original RAW photos (I am assuming you are working with RAW images).
Once the export is complete, use LR Import function to either the COPY
option your photos to a new LR-managed folder of your choice, the ADD
option to add the photos to LR but leave them the photos where they
currently reside or the DNG option to copy them to a new folder and convert
your RAW images to DNG files. If you use the copy or DNG options, you can
delete the folder you used when you exported the photos from iPhoto but
don't delete the folder if you go with the add option.

  • RAW photo importing/editing

I've seen this issue brought up in other threads, but I've yet to find an adequate solution.
I'm trying to import RAW CR2 files from my Canon Rebel XS, which Apple's website says Snow Leopard can support. I have no problem seeing them in the viewer, but when I try to import them, iPhoto says it's an unrecognized format. I tried in Lightroom and Photoshop -- both also say it's unable to import or edit. I was able to import through Adobe Bridge, but I can't open it in anything successfully.
    Help!

You could perhaps have an issue with your operating system or user account.
you might try creating a new user account on your computer (you can delete it later if you wish), import some of those files in that account and see if they behave the same way.
You might also try those same RAW files on another computer completely for comparison.
    Good luck,
    Patrick

  • Uploading photos to a panasonic lumix digital camera?

After downloading my photos from camera to computer, I work on them in either Iphoto or photoshop elements. Now that they are "improved' I want to upload them back onto the camera so as to be able to show them on a tv set.
    I went to the help menu in the image capture program and did the following;
When I connect my Panasonic DCM-FZ20 to my G5, the Image Capture (3.0.3) turns on, and identifies the camera. THen I am asked to "DOWNLOAD"
some or all. THe help menu says I should select DOWNLOAD SOME. When I do this, all of the pictures on the camera show up. The help menu says I should drag photos I wish to upload to "THE WINDOW". When I try to do this, the only window I see is the one with all of the pictures in the camera. THey won't attach to this window. Finally I am told to click the UPLOAD button, but there isn't one. The only buttons say "DOWNLOAD"===greyed out, OPTIONS, and CANCEL. SO, how to upload these photos back to the camera.?
On my desktop, there is an icon called NONAME. THis appears when the camera is connected to the computer and turned on. THis does contain DCIM folder with inner folders full of the pictures on the camera card.
    I'd appreciate any advise. THanks.

    Hi BOB,
You need to put the photos into the correct folder in your mounted camera volume on the desktop. They have to be put in the correct folder. Some have dragged the photos right from the iPhoto library into the correct folder on the cameras volume. You can also export the photos to the desktop and drag them to the correct folder from there.
There is also a shareware program to make it even easier.
