Raw pictures not sharp in photoshop

when I open a raw file in other programs like "ACDSee" it is sharp. when I open the same picture in photoshop it is not sharp.

Thanks for posting your observations here. You are correct, images viewed in Photoshop Express on Android devices can appear less sharp than when viewed in Gallery. There are reasons for this: performance and available memory. In order to display the image quicker, we are displaying a lower resolution version of the image. This does not effect the actual image though, so if you export the image it will maintain the expected resolution.
We hope to make improvements in this area and are investigating how to optimize this for our next update.

Thanks, that is interesting and something I had not previously noted.  If I import RAW files to CR direct from a folder, it is still a NEF.  But Aperture changes all NEF's to TIFFs.  OTOH, at least I once again have my CR opening in PS.

  • Long Raw Picture not showing in adf

I have used following servlet to show long raw picture. the problem is in line
    Blob blob = rs.getBlob("PLAN_PIC");
The oracle column is Long Raw  and in ADF table this column shows as Raw. I have tried to use Raw class but could not identify proper functions. For example I used      Long blob=rs.getLong("PLAN_PIC"); it is ok but then how to get its buffered binary stream because getBinaryStream() does not work for long. I also tried to use to_blob function to convert long raw column to blob but it also gives ora-0932 error. • PSE11 Export of RAW files not sharp

I am using PS Elements 11 with raw converter 7.3, processing .DNG files from a Samsung GX-10 on a PC.
I notice that, despite sharpening the image in the raw converter, that the preview (F11) in the organiser is not sharp. This is somewhat annoying.
However, even more annoying is the fact that the blurriness continues if I export the DNG from the organiser to a new JPEG, even if I set the quality at Maximum (12). The export and preview seem to be ignoring the sharpness I have set in the raw converter.
If I open the .DNG in the editor and then save the file as a JPEG straight away, all my sharpening remains intact, and the final JPEG is fine.
I have tried using setting the 'process' in the raw converter to '2010', and also tried setting the JPEG preview size to 'Full Size' in the RAW converter save options. Neither of these seems to make any difference.
For my normal workflow I edit the .DNG files using the raw converter, using the PSE editor only when necessary. I then use the organiser to export the .DNG files to JPEGs for printing, emailing or whatever. This workflow does not give me the results I expect any more.
It looks like I am going to have to open every processed RAW image in the editor and then save the files as JPEGs individually. Also the organiser preview does not give me an accurate preview of the quality of the processed file.
Has anyone else observed this, or have any suggestions for a cure or a revised workflow?
    Bill.

    Jon,
Thanks for the response and the tips, but I am happy with the sharpening I am applying in camera raw itself, but the problem occurs when I click the 'Done' button to save the results to the organiser, and then subsequently export to a jpeg.
For an example, this is how an oversharpened test shot appears on the screen in ACR 7.3 at 100% zoom with sharpening set to 150 (via print screen)...
Click Done and then export from the organiser (max quality) and this is the blurry result that appears:
This is also the sort of view I get in the organiser preview (F11) even at 100%.
If instead of clicking Done in ACR, I click Open Image and then save the image as a JPEG, this is what I get:
This latter image is what I would be expecting. (Of course I wouldn't normally sharpen my images like that!) In fact the exported raw images are much softer than the JPEGs that come straight out of the camera.
Maybe I am doing something wrong, and I am quite happy to be corrected, but I have been sharpening my images with ACR in PSE10 quite happily for a year or more. Its only since PSE11 and ACR 7.3 that I have noticed this issue.
    Regards,
    Bill

  • Olympus Micro 4/3 RAW Format not recognized in Photoshop

What do I need to install in Photoshop to recognized Olympus Micro 4/3 RAW Format?

It turns out that all I needed to do was download the latest version of the RAW update 6.6 for Photoshop 5.5 which includes the latest RAW formats for a number of newer released camera models from many camera companies.  My camera model was listed in the Photoshop 6.3 RAW updates - Olympus Micro 4/3 P3 camera model.  I downloaded and installed the latest digital camera RAW format update and installed it on my computer for Photoshop 5.5 and it worked perfectly allowing me to open the  Olympus Micro 4/3 P3 camera model RAW format pictures, view and correct the photos in Photoshop.
I actually found the answer in Photoshop HELP, it just took me a while till I phrased my HELP Search properly for Photoshop.

  • RAW Image appears sharper in Photoshop than Aperture

Using the 20in screen Raw files that I have imported into Aperture 2.1.1 appear significantly less sharp than when the same file is imported into Photoshop CS3
I also have not found a way of significantly sharpening the Raw based image in Aperture -
The files are from an Olympus E3 with the current camera firmware installed.
    Thanks for any suggestions.

adobe camera raw applies significantly more sharpening (and noise reduction) to images by default. I find the edge sharpen in aperture to be far superior, and i also feel i can squeeze just a little more detail out of my raw files in aperture, especially at higher iso's.
to sharpen, just select the image and press control-S and adjust to your liking. you can also tweak the sharpening applied by default to the images in the raw settings of each picture.

  • MSI GF ti 4200 - picture not sharp

    Just bought a new MSI Gf4 Ti 4200 8X / 128 MB (MS-8894) .
Works fine but seems there are some problem with the graphic quality .....
The picture quality seems not as sharp as my ASUS GF 3 Ti 200. The MSI picture seems a bit blur compare to my ASUS which is christal clear. This picture refer to window desktop background.
    Run 3D Mark and score 11,297 ... seems ok for a P4 2.66 machine......
Does anyone out there know what went wrong with my MSI graphic card  ???

I dont know exactly what is your problem?
But if other OS is OK, this pretty much a driver issue.

  • Canon 5D RAW files not opening in Photoshop CS3

    Windows Vista Home Premium SP1.
    Hey Ho!
I did a photoshoot at a friend's studio last week, using his Canon 5D as it was all set up with the lights etc etc.
He saved the files for me as RAW - *.CR2 - as I am used to using with my 450D. The only difference I can see is that his files are numbered like this:
    _MG_1791.CR2
whereas mine would have an "I" at the front - like it would be:
    IMG_1791.CR2
I cannot open his files in my Photoshop CS3 - I get the error "Cannot complete your request as it is not the right type of file" or similar. I have no problems opening my own CR2 files from my 450D.
I have searched this issue on the Adobe forums, as well as other photography forums, and they say to download the plugin update remove the old one and replace it with the new. I have tried following step-by-step, but I still can't get it to work.
If anyone has come across a similar problem, I would be greatful to hear what you did.
    Thanks in advance.

I am trying the DNG converter again, and it seems to be converting this time - maybe I didn't do it right last time... I hope that CS3 will be able to read the DNG files - will let you know how it goes shortly!

  • Monochromatic Canon RAW pictures not imported correctly in iPhoto?

The Canon cameras have a setting to create only a RAW format of a picture (no jpg is created). I'm able to import the picture into iPhoto but the original custom settings are lost. For example, I took pictures on the programmed mode on monochromatic but the pictures are imported chromatic so the B&W effect is lost. The thumbnails in Finder do show the B&W picture for the RAW files.
How do import these RAW files so the iPhoto creates a jpg with the original settings (monochromatic) ?

There's no such thing as a monochromatic Raw. A Raw is a sensor dump from the camera. Your camera has an RGB sensor and shoots everything in colour.
What the mono setting does on your camera affects only jpegs. What you're seeing in the Finder is the Jpeg preview built-in to the Raw as an icon.
So, put simply, if you want to shoot B&W, shoot jpeg.

  • RAW picture not showing iphoto9

Hi.Ive just loaded a number of pics on to iphoto9,some are in RAW format, however, Im unable to open those for edit.
When I double click to enlarge I get a large exclamaition mark.when I click to edit I get a black screen in edit.
I believe my Canon 400d is compatable.
    Ideas please,thank you.

Then the original library is damaged.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • Pictures not sharp

I have a 15" Powerbook 1.67 80GB and have trouble viewing photos through the laptop´s monitor. Basically when I download and view the same digital files through my PC workstation & Powerbook side by side, the images are sharp on the PC as I know they really should be, but unsharp on the Powerbook. The clarity on my 1 year old Powerbook is dissappointing - they just look unsharp, so much worse than on my PC. Has anyone got an answer as they appear unsharp viewing the pics through whatever I use - be it Photoshop CS2 or iphoto. Any help greatly appreciated.

Are you viewing the same images at the same physical size?
The reason I ask is that one optical illusion that often gives the impression that the Macs aren't sharp is the different, smaller, dot pitch that is often used on PC screens (both desktops and laptops although especially laptops).
What the smaller pixel size does is to reduce the image when viewed at 100%. This reduction gives an appearance of greater sharpness. For instance, if I view your an image at 100% on my PowerBook Titanium and the same image at 100% on my PowerBook Aluminium the Aluminium will always appear sharper due to the smaller dot pitch (higher dpi). Then again, at 100% the physical size of the imaged when viewed is smaller on Aluminium.
Are you mistaking this optical illusion of greater sharpness for true sharpness?
