Raw Problem

I am using Photoshop CS3 and bridge will not open raw images downloaded from my new Canon 60D

That camera needs at least CS5 with ACR of 6.4.  You either have to upgrade to CS6 or use the DNG converter.
By the way you only have until Dec. 31 to upgrade to CS6 with upgrade prices.  After that you will have to pay full price..  In US that is $700.

so, now after following the linked instructions...
    1. I'v installed  ACR 8.4 and it's opening the RAW files from 70D, but in camera profile I have "matrix"
in case with 60D RAWs ther was portrait, landscape, etc...
    2. The step wit installing the DNG converter I download the DNG converter 7.4, 8.1, 8.2, 8.3. - the reason is to add in the system camera profile that I want
every one of them do not install - just nothing happen after doubleclick (!?)
only one that  install and run it's 7.1 which dont support 70D RAW files....
it's amazing how to put all this to work propertly

  • Adobe Bridge cs5 V 6.0 camera raw problem

Hey guys I went to correct a few photos I took recently, Like anyother time I do this I open bridge find the photo I want then click open in camera raw...here is a picture of the photo in bridge no problem,
When I go into camera raw this happens to every photo, this one shows it the best but each photo I try and edit has this effect where the contrast of the picture goes from low to high... this problem just occured today, I did not install any new programs or change any settings at all... Please help!

this one shows it the best but each photo I try and edit has this effect where the contrast of the picture goes from low to high... this problem just occured today,
I'm not sure what your problem is but I suppose you mean the red color in the sky? This is a warning sign for highlights exceeding the visible range, like the blue color indicates the same for blacks.
If you bring back exposure you will see the red color change as you can do with other sliders.
Top left and top right of your histogram in Camera Raw you see a black and a white triangle with a square around it. If you click on triangle the square disappears indicating the warning color is set to off.

  • PS CS4 and 64 bit Win7, RAW problem???  Help!

My old system up and died last week, so I ended up with a new computer.  I have the fastest AMD Phenom processor, 4mg fast RAM, an ATI video card with 1mg RAM, and a complete new install of Windows 7 64-Bit.  I installed PS Elements 8 and PS CS4 this morning.  PSE8 went on without a glitch and seems to work perfect in RAW.  CS4 had a couple of install errors, but installed saying that "a few features" may only work partly   I downloaded PSE8 from a disk and CS4 from the Adobe site, and I am  fully licensed for both programs.  I down loaded new photos (same ones) to both programs (RAW only) and PSE8 opened all of them perfectly with full controls.  When I opened BRIDGE in PS CS4, all of my thumbnails were an icon files that said NEF but no actual pictures like PSE8.  When I tried to open them in RAW they would not open.  Any ideas out there?  I am not sure where to start looking.  I tried to re-install CS4, but the program would just "hang".  Also, PSE8 automatically put an Icon on my desktop where CS4 did not.  So my guess is an installation problem.  Any Help is appreciated!

Sounds like you do not have ACR (Adobe camera raw) installed, or it is in wrong folder.  Go the PS help/about plug-in/camera raw.  It should give you a version 5.x.  There can only be one file listed.  If you have none download it in updates I believe.

  • Camera Raw problem

I would like to be able to open a file that is already opened in editor?  The only way I can currently open one in camera raw is by going to the File dropdown, then Open As, then choosing Camera Raw, and then I get a default list of DSC files.  Prior to that it was a default list of BO files.  Very slow and awkward.
Yesterday(before my Camera Raw upgrade to 5.4 version, I was able to open any file from either Quick Fix or Full Edit and the first screen I got was the Camera Raw settings.  I know it can be done but I don't know how to get back there.
    Any help will be appreciated.

  • Lightroom & Camera Raw problem

I really cannot make any sense out of Camera raw and the other adobe products.
I have Lightroom 2.4, and if I click on the "about" option, I get told I have camera raw 5.4. However I have no DCP files installed, and so no camera calibration options. All I see is "Embedded".
Also installed are Photoshop Elements 7 (Camera Raw 4.5.0.175), Premiere Elements 7 & Photoshop CS3 (Camera Raw 4.0).
I am not an expert in this, and I find the instructions on the adobe site completely confusing and hopeless.
I juts cannot find any reference to how I get a CR update for my Lightroom. I have found 4.6 for CS3 which I understand i sthe latest, but I simply cannot find out how to get the camera profiles installed from any update.  Can someone help.
    Thanks
    Colin

Thanks everyone. I got more info on this one post than in an hour looking round Adobe’s web site.
I also checked the FAQ's before I posted. There are 31 messages there, I've checked again, and none of them have RAW or Profiles in the title. Now there may be something in an article, but I didn't spot any relevant titles.
I also did a search on the forum itself for Raw & Camera profiles. There were a number of articles in there, but no CLEAR statement like you guys have just given me. I did find one that explained where the DCP files were (admittedly on an XP machine although this wasn't mentioned in the post). So I searched in the equivalent position under my User on Vista. Unfortunately I've now discovered Adobe has moved them to
I then compounded the problem by checking the wrong file in Lightroom. I basically store photos for myself and my wife on my PC, and on my Canon I always shoot RAW. So I then looked at the 1 jpg from my Canon this year!!!!! (well OK maybe there's a few more, but you know what I mean.)
But this is all part of the problem. It appears that we need to be experts to find the simplest of bits of info. It is still not clear to me how I update CR for Elements and CS3 (but I think at last I've found it.). Those who are professionals or experienced users can find info relatively easily, but a hobby user like me who might only need to look here once a month struggles to get answers. That's why the forums are so good.
So thanks for your help. Much appreciated.

  • Camera Raw problem with new Nidon D90 and CS2

Please forgive me if this is a repeated question . . . but I need some advice . . . I just picked up a new Nikon D90 tonite . . . I'm using Mac 10.4.11 and Photoshop CS2 . . . when I tried to open my raw files in Bridge, I get the message that these files cannot be recogniized . . .After searching Adobe support I just have more of a headache . . .I primarily shoot Raw . . . and have never had a problem with CS2 and Bridge with my Nikon D80 . . . Please give me some advice . . .Thanks so much in advance . . .David

Of course you get an error! The D90 didn't come out until way after Adobe stopped upgrading ACR for Photoshop CS2. You will never have support for your NEF files with Photoshop CS2. If you don't want to use the DNG converter you have several choices. Upgrade to Photoshop CS4 or Lightroom 2.x, purchase Photoshop Elements (latest version, although Camera Raw doesn't have all its features in Photoshop Elements), purchase some other software that will support your NEF files. The only way you can have the support for your NEF files in Photoshop CS2 is to use the DNG converter.
A lot of people complain that it is an "extra step" to use the DNG converter. You have to download the images from your camera anyway. Just use the DNG converter to do that. It will take a little longer than a normal download, but once the download/conversion is completed your workflow is no different than it otherwise would be.
Camera Raw has matured greatly since Photoshop CS2. You purchased an outstanding camera. It's now time to upgrade your software. ACR is little more than a toy in Photoshop CS2.

  • Camera Raw problem; images appearing soft and without definition on import

Can anyone help? I am having problems with ACR version 4.6 ( I cannot upgrade ACR without upgrading to CS5). When I open a RAW image in ACR, the image appears soft, and with poor definition. As a result, they have failed quality control for upload to the Alamy picture library, despite having been shot with a Nikon D3. I am simply opening them with ACR defualts, then opening to photoshop.
The files open fine in Lightroom and Nikon Capture NX, however I prefer to use ACR for my workflow. Any suggestions? I don't what to shekll out for CS% if the problem is still there.
    Thanks, Robin

Have you tried resetting defaults? It sounds like either your Camera Raw default settings have been changed, or sharpening has been set to Previews only.
    1. Open an image in Camera Raw, select the Details tab, and check that setting are like defaults: Amount 25, Radius 1.0, Details 25, Masking 0. You can always reset defaults from the little menu icon on the right of the panel title.
    2. Check Camera Raw preferences, looking for the item: 'Apply Sharpening to:' and make sure it says 'All images'.
You might want to check other preferences too, especially the 'make defaults specific' settings, which, when used, create multiple default settings depending on camera and ISO.

  • RAW problem in CS6

Can not open any RAW-files in PS CS6. Have tried "everything". Just formatted the hard disk, installed osx Lion again. Then installed CS6 and adobe RAW 7.1. Still can not open any kind of raw files. Any ideas any one???

Sorry, did not see you were the person posting to the thread I refered you to.
It is not a good idea to repost the question as responders can not see what has been tried before.   Kind of like explaining the whole problem over again.
So best to bump your thread with a note that the  suggestions so far have not worked, and asking for additonal ideas.
You must have something set up wrong, it is just a problem of figuring out what.
Maybe the next guy will come up with it.

  • IPhoto5 w/PS Elements & Nikon D70s RAW PROBLEM

I hear that iPhoto 5 is supposed to work seamlessly w PSE3. I have a problem: new imac, new PSE3 install (w/ Adobe ACR RAW plug-in update).
PSE3 will see & access my RAW NEF files just fine from my Nikon D70s. But iPhoto will NOT download them. When I use my CF card reader, OS X correctly identifies the source (Nikon D70s); I can see the files to view them, but when I click the button to download the files into iPhoto, the machine churns for a bit, and then gives me a pop-up with the RAW files all in a temp folder, and it informs me that they are of an "unknown file type" and it won't download them.
This new Imac I brought home yesterday, and the only thing that has been installed on it (other than the 12 new mac updates) is PSE3, and the Adobe RAW update, which, as I said, works just fine in Adobe PhotoshopElements3.
Please don't tell me it's all because the camera is a D70s, and not a D70. They are the same identical RAW files.
any help would be much appreciated. I love my new iMac. (my first mac!!) No more windows for me.
    Thanks!

    Har! Hi Lori!
Yes, I not only found ONLY the D70 "supported" officially at the Apple website, but also, a call to technical support had them scratching their heads over this issue, and they surmized that yes, a simple "s" in the end of D70 might be exactly what is giving iPhoto fits... ( go figure- it's the same exact file format!) seeing that D70s tag (vs D70) just throws iPhoto a curveball. You'd think it would be more "intelligent" than that. Oh well. Guess I have to wait for an iPhoto update to use my RAW files w/iPhoto...
Maybe I'll just get a different software photo album. I need one now.
    Thanks!

  • Win PSE7 Camera Raw Problem

    Hi,
When I was using Elements 5 and CS3, I was able to open JPG files in the Camera Raw editor by viewing the files in elements organiser and sending them to CS3 for editing.
Now I've upgraded to Elements 7 this doesn't happen. How can I regain this functionality???

A possible solution is the following:
    1) Use PSE editor to conduct raw adjustments.
    2) Upon completion open file
    3) After file openned, select edit in PS CS(3).
I had this exact problem right after loading PSE7. I always use PS to do my editing - cause I have it. Because I considered this a major flaw, and it continued the downward trend in integration between PSE and PS (started with PSE6), I have finally moved away from PSE (for now).
After purchasing Lightroom 2, I noted it exhibits same issue so I believe there is a connection between PSE7 upgrade and LR functionality. The real difference being LR has ACR as part of the package and all you have to do is toggle between Library and Development to conduct the ACR adjustments (vs launching editor). One can argue ACR is part of PSE too, but it just doesn't feel like it, particularly if one is using PSE soley for the organiser (like I do) and only as a "front" for PS.
Integration wise, I prefer the Lightroom method for now. Since I'm new to LR, I have more stuff to learn/digest before I jettison PSE.

  • Aperture 2 Canon G9 Raw problem

If you have any raw files in Aperture 1.5.x libraries they should be deleted fist before upgrading. This images were not compatible in 1.5.x and cannot be read. I kept them in 1.5.x thinking when an upgrade would come they would then be supported.
See intial post of the problem at: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1408070&tstart=0
    The solution is as follows:
Before upgrading to Aperture 2 back up your vault
Then delete any unsupported raw .cr2 files that may be in the library.
I tried exporting the raw files first before deleting them but files became corrupted. Try any way it may work for you.
Back up your library again under a different name to a new vault. This new vault will ne all images minus the raw.
You now will have to back ups of your Aperture 1.5.x libraries- one with raw and all other images - one of just your images and no raw.
This is done just to be super safe.
Make sure you have all upgrades of Leopard, Aperture 1.5.6 and Iphoto? loaded and running OK.
Now insert you Aperture 2 dvd disk and follow the instructions to upgrade.
All should go well with no worries off losing your images.
Today I will try the new features of Aperture 2. So far it does seem to run a little faster.
New raw files imported perfectly with no problems.
Again the problem I had is related to Canon G9 raw files that are not supported im Aperture 1.5.6 library then upgrade to Aperture 2 and tried to rad them and open them in CS3 within the new Aperture 2 taking out all the other jpg image in the same project.
Again for more detail on this problem read the initial post linked above.
Enjoy and remeber always back up even the backup.

Well, I really should pay closer attention to Apple tech support. The Apple document here is correct: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=307342
    The solution is EASY:
After importing a project with the Canon G9 RAW files into Aperture 2, they have incorrect aspect ratios, as we all experienced. I simply selected the distorted RAW files, chose File--> Migrate and checked the box to update my RAW files. Lo and behold! All fixed.
    No more problem.
(I really should pay closer attention to what I read...)
    Hope it works for you.

  • Elements 12 - RAW problem

I have just purchased Elements 12 having found that V10 does not work with RAW images from my new camera.
I can open a RAW image in V12 and make any adjustments but when I then select "Open Image" V12 produces a program error message (no other details). Has anyone else come across this problem?
I have tried reinstalling the program but this does not help.
I am using XP but also tried on my laptop which uses Vista with the same result.

What camera are the camera raw files from?
Yes, there was another post not to long ago where the poster had the same problem with pse 12 on a vista machine.
That person was able to open the files by opening the camera raw file into the pse 12 camera raw dialog and then saving the file as a dng out of the camera raw dialog.
Then they closed the camera raw dialog and opened said dng file into camera raw and then the editor without error.
Could you post the Help>System Info from within the pse 12 editor on your xp machine?
The problem could possibly be that adobe doesn't for some odd unknown reason support upgrading the camera raw plugin that ships with pse 12 (camera 8.0) to the current version
of camera raw 8.2 on windows xp or vista, through the pse 12 updater.
That is strange because camera raw 8.2 is officially supported by adobe on windows xp in photoshop cs6.
