Raw Socket: Protocol Not Supported

OS Solaris 10, using Zones
I have one zone set up which houses HP Openview NNM 7.5
Inside of the application you should be able to right click on a node and do a traceroute or telnet to the node.
Neither works. Get error:
raw socket: Protocol not supported
Can anyone tell me if this is an OS issue or HP Openview issue?
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated!!!

This is known issue in zone. Please see http://developers.sun.com/solaris/articles/application_in_zone.html about socket function.
But if you really need traceroute in nnm, you can use /usr/sbin/traceroute.
Here's how:
manager@ov:~$ diff /root/old-NNM-IP.tbl $OV_REGISTRATION/C/ovip/NNM-IP.tbl
473c473
<          -cmd ovtraceroute ";
-cmd traceroute "; You can always add something like "xterm -e telnet" instead of "not working" menu item in registration file. Please see "Creating and Using Registration Files" guide on http://docs.hp.com.
nice nnm-ing :)

The Sony RX100 III was first supported in Lightroom 5.5.
There will be no updates for older versions.
    So your choices:
    Upgrade to Lightroom 5, or
Download the free Adobe DNG converter, convert all Raw files from the RX100 III to DNG format then edit the DNGs in Lightroom 4.4

I don't think you are supplying all the information that you are given by your machine.  The error you mention is often preceeded by a number of other messages which give some idea of what is actually occurring.  Please post error messages exactly as they are given to you, and check the journal and/or dmesg for more information.
Also as a side note, you need to use code tags for things like commands and output.  Hit the quote button on this post to see how I created the boxes below (the arrows will make sense when this post is quoted):

  • WebDAV protocol not supported

Running 10.6.6 server with several websites running on the server.  Have used WebDAV to access the documents directory succesfully.  Just added another site and enabled WebDAV but when trying to connect to the server from client I get an error.
Connection failed - There was an error connecting to the server "www.mydomain.org" Check the server name or IP and try again.
    In console I find:
    5/9/11 11:17:22 AM          webdavfs_agent[4510]          network_mount: WebDAV protocol not supported; file: /SourceCache/webdavfs/webdavfs-293.2/mount.tproj/webdav_network.c; line: 2844
All the other sites with WebDav work fine, it's just this one website.
    Any advice for troubleshooting?

Solved.  This is an intranet development site with an active internet site.  Had Windows 7 running in Parallels VM and was connected to a corporate secure site which was evidently directing requests to the public internet site.  Wasn't aware that the virtual machine connecting to a corporate secure site would affect the host mac dns resolution.

  • HT4757 The Fujifilm X-Pro 1 RAW format is not supported by iPhoto 11

I have brought the Fujifilm X-Pro 1 withch has a new CMOS sensor with excellent image quality. But unfortunately the iPhoto does not support the new RAW format of this camera.

As RAW is not supported for the time being, I am taking photos with RAW+JPEG now and hope the RAW files can be used in future. But there is still a problem for me. The RAW files in the SD card cannot be imported into my computer but keep in the SD card. iPhoto and Finder refused to import the RAW files as they are in "Unknown format". The SD card will be full after sometime and become unusable.
The "RAW FILE CONVERTER update (ver.3.2.9.1) for X-Pro1" is capable to view or convert the files into JPEG but cannot help importing the files from the SD card. Since the JPEG file is already done in camera, the RAW FILE CONVERTER seems almost useless.
At least Apple or someone should make a tool to help importing the RAW files from the camera to the computer. Or such tool is just unaware to me?

This is a big reason to make the move to dynamic development. There are many sites that use PHP or CF and never connect to a database. The ability to have your menus, headers, footers added to your pages with one simple line of code such as:
    <cfinclude template="FooterContent.cfm">
    for ColdFusion or
    <?php
    include("FooterContent.php");
    ?>
    for php
Makes it well worth moving from static HTML pages to using  CF or php.
Even if your host did support SSI's  you'll find true dynamic development to be a much more reliable solution - and this isn't even mentioning how to handle form submissions and so many other non database related functions... for example  this line of code
    Copyright 2002 - <cfoutput>#DateFormat(Now(), "yyyy")#</cfoutput>
Will automatically show the current year at the end of your copyright statement in your footer - sweet, right?
Hope this encourages toy to make the move.

  • Camera RAW for D1000 Not supported on OS X Lion ?!

    Hello,
Beforer Lion came out I took some photos and imported them from my EOS REBEL / D1000 Canon camera and everything went perfectly fine (using the camera software) then later I upgraded to OS X Lion when it was released and today I took some photos with my camera just now and I was shocked that the camera program says "Camera not found" while Aperture and iPhoto find the cam, I used Aperture to import the RAW and JPEGs, they are imported perfectly on the desktop (as I set it to do so) yet I can neither open the RAW images with Photoshop CS5 nor Aperture claiming that Camera Raw cannot support this format. I think this is a problem with the system itself cuz I didn't change my cam nor photoshop version and the only thing that has changed is the OS X from Snow Leopard to Lion and now I cannot use my RAW images on any program.
Can anyone help me please ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Reno

  • RWL Raw files are not supported

I downloaded the trial of Aperture 3 and my RWL files magically appeared. I then purchased the licence for Aperture 3 and now all my RWL files show as unsupported format just as they did in Aperture 2! Any ideas what could cause this...?

I had the same issue...since the trial would not let you convert your Library, it made me import, and that made the RWL show up...
Click on the unsupported format RWL file and it should convert.
I had the same experience and just arrowed through the RWLs, and it converted as it went, no problem.
I posted a message earlier today, here it is...
Just wanted to report some interesting behavior regarding the long-awaited RAW processing ability for the D-LUX 4 and Panasonic LX3. I did not see this happen on the first library I coverted, because I let Aperture do the image processing, so the files were already converted when the Library upgrade process finihed.
Anyway, this time I did not process images when doing the upgrade of my personal library, because I wanted it to finish the task quickly. It did about 3 hours for some 40K photos.
I had been shooting RAW + jpg since I got my Leica D-LUX 4 in the hopes that Aperture would support it some day...and that day came!
Anyway, the .RWL RAW files show up in the browser view as black boxes with the warning triangle. They convert when you select them individually, and that was pretty much as expected.
What was cool though, was when I had opened an .RWL image into Split View, and then arrow key selected the next unprocessed image. Aperture displayed "Unsupported Picture Format" on top of a low res image that had really severe lens distortion for an instant in what appeared to be a 16:9 or longer aspect ratio image, then displayed the properly converted 4:3 RAW file.
This is obviously the lens correction processing that is part of the way the camera operates, and that A2 was incapable of converting correctly. I thought it worth mentioning that you can sort of see it at work in A3.
It is so great to have A3 do such a good job on these files, and be so responsive. Really enjoying getting to work with my Leica RAW files finally.
    Sincerely

Unfortunately, you'll need to import from Aperture in TIFF or JPEG format from your Hassie.
The list of currently supported RAW formats is here:

Apple has a feedback page, it's worthwhile for you to note your need for your Hasselblad back.

  • Olympus E20N Raw Files (.orf) not supported?

Am I doing something wrong? The .orf files from my Olympus E20n import as empty images (metadata seems to be importing) with the message the image is an unsupported format. Are .orf files from the E-1 different than E20N?
Also, from the Apple web site, it states DNG files will not work if the Raw format is unsupported. Does that explain why converting the E20N Raw files to DNG fail to display with the same error.
Sorry if this sounds like a "Duh!" but I'd like confirmation before I waste additional hours trying to get this to work.
    Thanks!

Sad but true. I also thought that .DNG was the .PDF of the RAW photo world, but no. One man's DNG is another man's poison. Each DNG contains information to that specific camera RAW and parameters on how to process. So unless the application understands the RAW, it won't understand the DNG either.
Lots of old family snaps from a Canon Powershot s40 stuck in limbo land, unless I go editing plist files ..... or reprocess to TIF's and then import. And yes, that's how I found out about the .DNG gotcha!

  • I have Photoshop Elements 11. I purchased a Canon 70D, which raw files are not supported by PE11. How can I upgrade the Camera Raw plug in? Thank you.

Please help: I cannot find any answer.

You need PSE12 to read your CR2 files. Alternatively, download and install the free Adobe DNG converter to convert your raw files to the Adobe universal Raw format and the files will open in all versions of PSE (keep your originals as backups and for use in the camera manufactures software)
Windows download (.exe file) click here DNG Converter 8.2
Mac download (.dmg file) click here DNG Converter 8.2
You can convert a whole folder of raw images in one click. See this quick video tutorial:

  • 4727550 Advanced & Raw Socket Support (ICMP, ICMPv6, ping, traceroute, ...)

    Hi All,
4727550 was a long standing RFE. Before we take any action, I'd like to ask you guys what the requirements are. E.g., do you plan to use raw socket in what kind of application? What features do you want the most? Which platform do you plan to use? etc.
Feel free to add your comments here.
    Thanks,
    Edward

Its sad to realize at different occasions, that Java
is just not usable for this type of application, e.g.
writing a firewall...Sure it is! You just need some glue between operating system specific APIs and Java.
This is not really a language issue. It's an issue of what language APIs a given OS supports out of the box. Want to write a firewall using C and deploy it on a LISP machine? Be prepared to write some C/LISP glue, just like you'd write Java/C glue to access APIs written in a C-based OS.
C is so widespread, and so many OSes offer C APIs that C seems "universal". But that's just an illusion. The OSes that happen to be most popular at this time in history happen to provide C APIs to most of their functionality (even then you may occasionally need C/assembly glue for some things).
More and more APIs, such as low level TCP access, will eventually migrate to Java. But ther is no "universal" language, magically able to access any API written in any other language.I think you are missing the point. In order to write a firewall in Java, you have to have raw socket support - IE: be able to specify the data going over the transport. Java currently supports TCP and UDP, but does not support any others (IPX, ICMP, etc).
The reason these things are not available at the Java layer is because the underlying C code in the JVM is specifying the constants to pass to the socket library at the C level rather than letting the Java layer pass those parameters down. You can currently do it yourself by doing a bootstrap replacement for the JVM classes, or using a 3rd party library -- but you shouldn't need to. The underlying library should be rewritten as raw socket, and allow the existing libraries to be built as pure-java implementations on top of it.
The reason that raw sockets were not around to begin with was that everyone was afraid it was a security risk. It is unfortunate that in order to protect us, they keep us from writing security software.
As a side note, I think these two comments on the bug ( http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=4727550 ) are interesting:
4093850 "ICMP protocol support a.k.a. PING applets" was a long
standing RFE seeking ICMP/raw sockets support. It attracted approximately
250 votes on the JDC. It became clear from the feedback to the RFE
that there were broadly two requirements :-
In about one month (from 2006-08-23 to 2006-09-20), we don't see enough input in the SDN forum thread for this RFE. Seems there's no enough interest for it.
If it "became clear" that people wanted this functionality, why post a brand new link somewhere and monitor it for one month to determine if anyone wanted the functionality. I didn't even know about this link until a friend mentioned that the bug had been updated.
So, enough of a rant. I think that if we could write a full-fledged software firewall in Java without using a 3rd party library or JNI, then we'd be on the right track for requirements.

  • "Canon SLR EOS 40D"  *Aperture and Canon's CR2 RAW files not supported.*

    Hi,
I just started playing with Aperture, and with my brand new *Canon SLR EOS 40D* camera. One problem, Aperture is not recognizing the RAW file format. I am using RAW Fine**-L. Even with that it doesn't even see the JPG shots in Aperture. Went to the Canon site and it shows CR2 format. IPhoto 08 sees the JPG files just fine, It also sees the RAW files just doesn't know what to do with them. I know that RAW files are not supported on IPhoto 08. The camera is only been out a few months, but still lost on why Aperture doesn't support the format. Maybe I am missing something. Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks in advance....

For some reason or another Adobe Photo Shop 7 is no longer supported in Leopard. When you lunch Photo shop 7 in Leopard. You get "An unexpected and unrecoverable problem has occurred because of a Program error. Photo Shop will now exit." even if you reinstall the program, still you get the same error. Photo Shop 7 is Not the latest and greatest, but in most cases, that is all you need. Not sure if they plan on a fix, so for now I put that program on a shelve.
    Hope that helps
