Raw thumbnails don't show up in Photoshop they do in bridge

Since I have to go, I suspect that it is not Photoshop, but Windows 7, whose dialog boxes Photoshop uses.
You can set up Windows to display raw thumbnails using the Microsoft Codec Pack which you get here:
How do I view RAW pictures in Windows 7? - Microsoft Windows Help
Then Photoshop should be able to display them as thumbnails.

  • RAW Thumbnails don't show in Bridge

I am very new to using Photoshop and Bridge (complete novice); I just took my first Photoshop class this weekend. Have never used either program before the class.
Thumbnails of my .NEF files (Nikon Camera RAW) are not showing up in Bridge. The files are there, there's just no image---it's just a generic icon. JPEG files are fine. They display as thumbnails in the "thumbnail view" just like they're supposed to. Also, the camera Metadata doesn't seem to be working either. It's like bridge isn't recognizing the .NEF files. the I've loaded the appropriate plug-ins into Photoshop which made it so I could open the .NEF files in that program (at first I couldn't). I found a plug-in folder in the Bridge Application Folder and copied the same plug-ins but it's not making it work. I also tried adding the files in Bridge by creating a new batch and also by clicking a dragging. What can I do to fix this? I want to be able to see the thumbnail image.
I'm using CS2 (9.0) on a Macbook Pro with OSX (tiger) and 1 gig RAM.

  • After upgrade to 9.2 my thumbnails don't show up

After upgrade to 9.2, my thumbnails don't show up.  I know the photo is there because I can click on the space where the outline is and get a picture. Anyone??

Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to rebuild the thumbnails. This can take three or four goes.

  • IPhone pix thumbnails don't show in iPhoto

Just upgraded to Snow Leopard yesterday. Took some photos with my iPhone 3G. When I sync the phone with my iMac, it launches iPhoto but the thumbnails don't show in iPhoto, only the yellow dashed line indicating they are there.
The photos download fine so this isn't a huge issue, just odd. Anyone else run into this and have a fix?
    Thanks!

I think what I have noticed is that the thumbnails for screenshots (which are .png format) don't show up before importing. The thumbnails for regular pix should.
    I didn't worry about a fix.

  • Some of my video thumbnails don't show

I triple back up my photos and videos on external hard drives.
Recently, I went back to look at some of my May 2012 home videos on my back ups. Three of the videos didn't seem to work. The thumbnails didn't show an image from the video. Went I went to play them, all that happened was a black screen with the timer at the bottom of the Quicktime player showing that the video was playing, but all that I could see of the video was a black screen and no audio. I went through searching through previous iPhoto libraries in time machine and eventually found the video footage in a 'masters' folder (they still didn't show up in the iPhoto library - I had to do a search on my Mac).
Having rescued all the missing videos, I thought the problem was over. Sadly, no. Another time I went back to look at the videos on my back ups, suddenly a whole load more videos were behaving similarly: no image from the video for a thumbnail like the working videos have; pressing space bar to play them in Finder led to the black screen I'd seen before. This time they played in Quicktime, though after taking ages to load up rather than the split second it normally takes. But still the missing thumbnail and the mysterious black screen when I try it in quick view in Finder.
The same thing happens on all 3 of my back up external drives, so it can't be a problem with them.
The same thing happens on my white, Snow Leopard Macbook AND my silver Lion Macbook Pro.
So I don't know what the problem is!
Another thing, (which may be related), recently when opening iPhoto it says "There is a problem accessing one or more files in your iPhoto library. Do you want iPhoto to repair permissions for this library for you?" to which I reply 'Repair'.
These videos are of great sentimental value, as you can imagine. I don't want this to keep happening. Any idea why this happens and how to stop it?
    yours.

"Some of my keyboard keys don't work"
So exactly which keys don't work?
So like Grant says, "external USB keyboard".
I have the identical machine and the "qwertyuiop[]" keys stopped working. I thought it was a problem with the connector. After using it with an BlueTooth keyboard for a year I bit the bullet and bought an entire upper case on eBay for $69 and installed it myself. I actually just bought the keyboard itself but there are ~70 tiny screws that hold it in and I didn't want to go through all that to have to put it in. Those upper cases are very cheap now so that was the way to go.

  • Thumbnails Don't show up

Ok folks, this has absolutley stumped me. I have 2 sites where I need  them to share the same images and thumbnails. I set up on the server  (linux/apache) all the pemissions and I'm actually aliasing all the directories.  The thumbnails however refuse to appear on one of the site. All other images appear just fine.
Example: everything is ok on this site:
    http://www.annapolismoves.com/featured.php
However, Thumbnail don't appear on this site:
    http://www.dayweitzman.com/featured.php
All the thumnail are of course dynamic with ADDT so are the full size images that are not a problem under either domain, example:
    http://www.annapolismoves.com/listing.php?propertyid=129
    http://www.dayweitzman.com/listing.php?propertyid=129
If you can she any light on this. I'd really appreciate it

You’re database is damaged (by a crash, perhaps?) and the damage is such that it cannot be recovered with Library Manager.
Your only option now is to create and populate a new Library:

Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Roll Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

  • Thumbnails don't show editing

I'm new to iPhoto. I upload my photos and see them in thumbnail form. Then I choose Edit and make my changes. A small window appears that says "Saving Changes". When I go back to the thumbnails the changes haven't been saved - they are the originals.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. What particular types of edits is this occurring with or is it all edits? Are you using a 3rd party editor from within iPhoto?

  • .mov thumbnails don't show on vista system

    Hi,
My Canon camera takes videos in .MOV format.  Once they're on my windows vista computer the thumbnails (T.N.) do NOT show.  I have tried to un-install/re-install quicktime and have tried many other things but still no thumbnails.  I did do a clone of my old hard drive but the problem was on that drive before installing the new drive I currently am using.  I have made sure the folder options are set properly to have thumbnails show.  I'm not sure what changes I had made to my system when this became a problem, so I can't pinpoint what it might have been.  I do know that I am having other system issues/errors that I will not discuss further as I don't know what is causing that as well.  I thought the clone process was the culprit to the very slow computer but the T.N. issue was prior to that as I said.
I don't know if i need to re-install some sort of Codec or which one, and from where, so I haven't done that yet.  I'm hoping someone can offer some resolutions for me with this as I would love to be able to determine which video I want to play.  I have thousands of .MOV videos of my beautiful little girl and I want to "mark" some of them for future viewing.
I'm not sure what other info to offer so please respond with a resolution or other questions that you may need to help me with this.
Thanks apple people!  You guys rock!

I am also experiencing the same issue where thumbnails will not load in icon view. This system is less than 2 wks old with little in the way of changes from the factory default settings. When working from the local HDD the system will get into a mode where it will either stop displaying thumbnails of png or jpg files or it will take minutes to load the thumbnails (when there are <30 files in the folder). If the system is rebooted the thumbnails will load correctly again. The need to reboot several times a day though for proper icon view thumbnails is a real irritation. After convincing my wife to convert to a Mac for superior reliability this is a real disappointment.
Any suggestions to resolve this would be greatly appreciated.

  • Thumbnails don't show in Finder or Stacks

I use a MacBook Pro running OS X Leopard 10.5.6, VMware Fusion 2.0.2, Skitch and Pixelmator.
As you can see, sometimes, OS X doesn't show thumbnails of pictures in Finder or Stacks.
Everytime this happens, *I have to re-boot my Mac.*
I have no idea why this happens and workaround but all I can do is just re-boot.
Anybody having the same or a similar issue?
Time Machine has nothing to do with this because I don't use it.
However, I have a doubt on VMware Fusion, I've got no proof though.

  • Some thumbnails don't show?

In finder, (my pictures folder more specifically) some thumbnails do not ever show. There is simply the generic .jpeg file "picture" there, but when you click the picture, the appropriate picture displays in "Preview."
Does anyone know how to remedy this??

    Hi
    Have you tried this?
    1 Go into Pictures Folder.
    2  j (Show View Options).
3 Click on Show Icon Preview.

  • Thumbnails don't show up in iPhoto

Weirdly, the vast majority of my pictures in iPhoto (the ones older than a few weeks) now no longer show up in the library, either as thumbnails or when I try to edit them. They are only a grey square with a dotted frame and an exclamation point.
The pictures are still there (if I go to Finder and navigate through the folder structure, I can see them in the preview window), but apparently, iPhoto can't see them to display them. I have not made any changes to the folder structure or modified anything in Finder, so I'm having trouble understanding what the cause of this is.
Based on previous discussions here, I have tried the following:
    1. Rebuilding the library and thumbnails (option + command, then selecting the top three options) - took about a minute (I have over 7000 pictures in the library) and yielded no results.
    2. Tried moving the data folder according to Lori's tip here http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=2070087&#2070087 and then rebuilding, still no luck.
    3. Downloaded iPhoto Library Manager as suggested here http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7280470&#7280470 and used that to rebuild my library. It could only find the pictures from the last few weeks (the same ones that iPhoto will display) and not the other ones.
Any help or tips would be much appreciated! It's reassuring to know my pictures are still there, but I'm not really sure why iPhoto all of a sudden can't find them...

  • I try to connect my 4s iphone to computer and get an error when trying to open my phone in iphoto. The thumbnails don't show up

Trying to connect my iphone to my imac and getting nothing but grey thumbnail outlines. I have done it before on this computer without any trouble until now. It's 4s phone on an imac with system 10.5.8

It is opening up your computer generally because there are photos in the camera roll to prompt you to import them to the computer as you would a digital camera.
To correct the issue with the iPhone not being recognized in iTunes, see this support document. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538

  • Nikon D4 raw files don't show on iMac with os 10.6.8 Finder.

Hello, I am using an iMac with OSX 10.6.8. I can't view my Nikon D4 raw files on my Finder.
I have tried to install the Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 3.10, but got a massage saying I can't install because I don't have Iphoto 9 or Ilife 11.
All I want, is to see the tumbnail preview of my Nikon D4 .NEF (RAW) files on my finder.
    How do I do this?
    Best,
    Noam.

    Quit iTunes.
Copy the entire  /MusiciTunes/ folder from internal drive to external drive.
    Hold Option & launch iTunes.
Selelect Choose library... and select the iTunes folder you copied to the external.
After you make sure everything works, you can delete /MuusiciTunes/ folder.

  • All Keywords don't show up in Photoshop List?

In Bridge I import a text file that has all my keywords to a Master Folder where all the other subfolders have pictures files. In PS-CS6.0 when I want to add key words in file info I type the first letter and the keywords with that letter show up in a list and then I choose the correct word.  However some letters don't produce a list or only produce a partial list. If the keyword doesn't show up I have to go to my text file and copy the keyword and paste it into the file info.
    why?

Before i start, let me just say that I never post replies in forums...but this one just vexes me beyond belief.
I have been a mac user since my first year of Graphic design, way back in 1995.  I have a first gen ipad, I also have an older imac (2006) with Tiger installed for an os which i owned before the iPad.  Now, when I first got the ipad, and plugged it into my mac, i had no problems with it.  It showed up, i could transfer, sync, back up, whatever i had to do.  Since then, and for a while now, i cannot.... i dunno if it was because of software updates, or whatever, but now, iTunes doesn't read my ipad....***?  It used to?  Why all of a sudden does it not work anymore?....Ohhh wait, now i know....I have to upgrade to iTunes to at least 10.1.whatever.......and to do that, i have to upgrade my os to at least snow leopard.  But, i cannot upgrade to snow leopard, because for all intents and purposes,  it doesn't exist anymore.
So now, when anyone posts problems with their iOS devices, your response should be "plug it into a PC"....because it works.

  • Video head Thumbnails don't show up in my timeline

Hey guys, something weird happened to my project, the thumbnails decided to go on vacation ! It all worked well at first and it was really useful, this is a project with A LOT of clips from different locations and it saved me time to know what clip shows what. I tried changing the different mode from "Video head and Tail' and "Continuous Video Thumbnail" but NOTHING changed, feels flying blind sometimes. I shut down the machine, restarted everything but no changes, cleaned the cache and all but NOTHING. Has anyone had the same issue ?
Thanks in advance for the help.
    Marty

Haha i was expecting a question like this one, it's not silly at all but yes I did, i expanded them from very small to very tall. I have no choice but to continue this project so evert once in a while i expand them to see if the thumbnail may come back but it's not...
