RAW update problem

My father uses CS6 and recently upgraded his camera and now needs the latest version of RAW.
However as he does not have internet access on his PC (he is in his 80's) this is now a major problem
In the past I have been able to download the update file for him and save it onto a memory stick which he then installed from
How can we overcome this problem which he has never had in all the years of using Adobe products before

Hi,
I understand your concern.
so what you can do is download the update file from adobe , copy the downloaded file on a memory stick(flash drive) and than install it on the PC(without internet).
As you siad its PC i assume its Windows.
Here aare some links for camera RAW updates , it might help you.

  • Camera raw update problem loaded on cs6 32bit but not the default 64bit.

    Hi to all.
Can you help?  I recently updated to 8.8 camera raw after buying a new camera and there was a problem with the installation.  It told me that there was a problem writing to cs6.  I clicked ignore an the installation completed.  The problem is that it has updated to the 32bit version but still shows 7.1 on the 64bit (default).  I am running on windows 7 64 bit.  Any hel[p with a solution would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Update
I did a bit more research on the forum and found a discussion referring to pse which gave instruction to open the archive on the camera raw exe. file and manually copy the 8bi files into the correct location in the C drive eg:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS6\File Formats
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CC\File Formats    and
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CC\File Formats
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS6\File Formats
Wait for it this didn't work and completely removed camera raw from the about plugin menu on ps6 64 bit.  It worked on cs6 32 bit.
The solution was to then reinstall the plugin via the installation .exe file and all was back as it should be.   The only problen now is that adobe bridge has the camera raw preferences greyed out.....I am working on a fix for this and will post if I find it.  I hope this helps someone.

    Hi Michelle
I am new to the forum so I apologise.  I should have mentioned in my update that the installer that fixed the problem was the ACR 9.0.  I had originally used the 8.8 installer which caused the problem from ACR 7.1.
Initially the installer didn't work  64 bit version still had 7.1 but it installed ACR 9.0 on the 32 bit.  I then proceeded to manually unzip the exe file ACR 9.0 and coped the 8bi file to the locations stated in my update.  This didn't affect the 32 bit cs6 but completely removed ACR from the 64 bit.  I re ran the ACR 9.0.exe file and everything was fixed.
I hope that this makes sense.  I have now developed a problem on Bridge though.  I can open raw file in photoshop but I can't view previews and the camera raw preferences are greyed out.  I have read elsewhere that other people have had the same problem.

  • Camera Raw Update Problems Canon

I think the latest software updates seem to have affected all cameras in aperture. After installing them on friday, I could not import images from Canon 1DsMk11, 1DMk11, and D5. Cured the problem by reinstalling previous Camera Raw as suggested, thanks for that!

  • Camera Raw update problem

I have tried six times to upgrade Camera Raw via the "Help" menu in CS5.  Each time it seems to download, but it always gives me an error message stating that there was a problem with the installation.  I am trying to open .rw2 files from my Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ200 camera. and my current version of Camera Raw will not accept them.

Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
    Camera Raw-compatible Adobe applications
The FZ200 was first supported by Camera Raw 7.2 which is only compatible with CS6 and later.
CS5 is only compatible with Camera Raw up to version 6.7. So there is no version of Camera Raw for CS5 which will open Raw FZ200 files.
    Options:
    Join the Cloud
    Upgrade to CS6
Free option: download the free Adobe DNG converter, convert all FZ200 Raw files to DNG format then open the DNGs in CS5.

  • Camera Raw Update Problem: how to open Fuji X-E2 Raw files in CS5?

I just purchased a Fuji Xe2 but my .RAF files are not compatible with my CS5's version of Camera Raw (6.7).  I have tried to go through the Help menu to update but it states my product is up to date. I tried to manually download and install but I just get an error message.  How do I fix this?

The X-E2 was first supported by Camera Raw 8.3 which is only compatible with CS6, CC and later.
It will never be backward compatible with earlier versions so you won't be able to open XE-2 Raw files in CS5.
    Some options:
    Upgrade to CS6

Download the free Adobe DNG converter, convert all X-E2 Raw files to DNGs then edit the DNGs in CS5.

  • Have CS 5 Installed on my iMac and works ok. But installed on my new MacBook Pro it won't open NEF files from my Nikon D810. Displays NEF icons, but when I try and open them the response is: Make sure latest RAW updates are installed. If problem persists

Have CS 5 Installed on my iMac and works ok. But installed on my new MacBook Pro it won't open NEF files from my Nikon D810. Displays NEF icons, but when I try and open them the response is: Make sure latest RAW updates are installed. If problem persists follow link: http://www.adobe.com/go/kb407111. Have installed Bridge 5.0.2.4; Raw Ref Version 7.0.0.308; DNG converter_8_7_1.dmg; Bridge 5.0.2 Update 2. Also same problem with Lightroom which I don't normally use. Lightroom_3_LS11_mac_3_6.dmg installed.

In the link you posted it states that the Nikon 810 requires ACR 8.6 or newer.
Version of ACR are specific to versions of Photoshop. You cannot use 8.6 nor even 7.0.in CS5.
I believe that ACR 6.7 is the latest that will work with CS5, so make sure you have this installed and get rid of ACR 7.
Having 2 versions of ACR will cause problems.
You have already downloaded DNG Converter 8.7.1.
Have you double clicked the DMG file to allow you to install DNG Converter on your computer?
Be aware that DNG converter is a stand-along application and not a plug-in.
You need to open DNG converter at select the FOLDER that contain your .NEF files.
Don't open the folder and try to select individual files, it doesn't work that way.
After converting your D810 files to DNGs you can then open the DNGs in CS5
The problem is your camera didn't exist when CS5 & its version of ACR was developed.
i don't use Lightroom, but the list mentions Lightroom 5.6 as needed to open D819 so your 3.6 version of LR won't cut it.

  • Problems with Installing Camera Raw update for PSE 10 from Apple Appstore

Hi.  Need some help, I have just bought Photoshop Elements 10 from Apple App Store directly from MAC.  I realised a few things
    1. That software directly downloads and i could not find any serial number for it
    2. That software does not include Organizer, or how do i access it.  It seems to be not the same as directly downloaded from adobe website
    3. the Camera Raw software 6.5 does not look like full featured, it has a number of missing tabs.  I tried to download the 6.6 Update and 6.5 Camera Raw Update but both could not be installed
Appreciate some help.  Thanks.  [email protected]

Chune Keat I would recommend posting your inquiry to the Photoshop Elements forum.

  • RAW compatibility problem with E-620 with RAW update 3.2

Still can't read RAW file from my Olympus E-620 after installing the latest RAW update 3.2. Also, used to convert my Olympus RAW file (from my E-620) into DNG file and it worked just fine. Since I have installed the latest RAW update 3.2, Aperture can't support those files (.DNG) as well.
    Anybody can help.

    Hi David...
I put it to him that a Vault solution and re-install might be his only option, but I don't think he has a Vault back up which is a shame, a lesson on good back up practise for all reading this thread sitting there in that comfy chair thinking it'll never happen to me ......
He has a time capsule back up of his library so all is not completely lost, just all the metadata, keywords, edits..... so hopefully an upgrade to Ap3 & re install library from TC and the option to do a complete re edit of a library..... can be an interesting exercise actually to see how your taste in editing changes after a period of time..... Quite often for the better.

  • How download cs5 Camera raw update and how make Photoshop the default in the Bridge "open" menu?

Two problems  which have defeated me.
First, I have a new Canon  EOS 500D  and need to download the  recent  (July  2010) CS5 Camera Raw update. However both of my computers freeze when I move from the Adobe Support web page to the Download web page.  Is this a known problem? What to do about it? I am using CS 5 on a Windows 2007 XP computer.
Second, (probably related to the first)   opening a file in Photoshop is not listed among  Bridge's  "OPEN AS" options. Also,  the "OPEN"  Default is "PAINT". How do I set Photoshop as the "OPEN"  menu  default?
Thanks for your suggestions. I am truly befuddled by these  issues.
    JackIsaac

Sounds like something is really wrong with your computer, and it isn't clear what, but if you're just having issues getting to the download link for ACR:
Here is the download page for ACR 6.1 update:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4728
Here is the download page for the CS5 12.0.1 update:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4733
If those links don't work, you can probably find the same updates on the FTP site, although some things here are more than a decade old:
    ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/photoshop/
See if Bridge and ACR are any happier after installing these two updates.  Make sure you run them as Administrator.
If those still don't work for you, try another browser, where Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Google Chrome should all work.
    http://www.microsoft.com/ie
    http://www.firefox.com/
    http://www.google.com/chrome
There are numerous other browsers, as well, but they probably won't work if the above three don't.
Perhaps you either have a virus that you should scan for, or over-zealous internet-protection software that you could try disabling temporarily.
My favorite free virus/malware scanner is from www.MalwareBytes.com
The payfor version will automatically update itself and scan, but the free version works just as well except you have to manually update and scan.

    Hi,

Last problem is Adobe Extension update, can't do it automatically and manually becouse there are no update files for Adobe Extension CS5 for Windows (only for Mac). Most important is that my Camera Raw can open files from my cameras now. Thank You for your help.

  • Camera raw won't open my raw files from bridge.  Mac user, camera, Nikon D800, latest camera raw update is installed.  Help!!

I don't get a photo preview in bridge of my raw files, just the NEF file thing.  Then when I click to open them I get a message that says:  "If you are attempting to open a raw file from a digital camera, make sure you have the latest Camera Raw update installed via Help > Updates"   "If the problem persists, visit the following link for more information: http://www.adobe.com/go/kb407111".  I can't seem to figure out what to do!  Help Please!?

Usually the problem with a newer Nikon camera is that the NEF files have been transferred or viewed with obsolete Nikon software, like Nikon Transfer for View NX, and those change something in the header of the raw file that makes it unrecognizable to Adobe products.
For new images, the solution is to either stop using Nikon products to transfer and view your files or update your Nikon products to be as new as your camera.

  • Raw Update 2.3 + Nikon D90 = Wrong White Balance Temperature

Hi folks. Wonder if someone has had a similar issue and/or has any insights.
    Here's the background:
    - Aperture 2.1.2 on OS 10.4.11
    - Downloaded/installed Raw Update 2.3
    - Imported ~800 NEFs from a D90
    - On ~15-20 NEFs, pictures show up blue (white balance at ~2500)
    - The affected NEFs are semi-randomly distributed among the ~800
    Here's why it's weird:
    - NEF displays correctly in Nikon View (the thumbnail and full picture)
    - NEF displays correctly in the Finder (the thumbnail)
    - NEF displays correctly in the preview and thumbnail *in Aperture* but only until the preview and thumbnail processing completes at which point they turn blue (this is why it's especially weird)
    - Peeking into the Aperture package, the NEF thumbnail shows up correctly but the preview and thumbnail files show up blue.
If I delete the NEFs from Aperture, close down, and repeat I get the exact same problem on the exact same NEFs. This leads me to believe that there's something specific to the NEFs but it must also be linked to Aperture and more specifically, it's thumbnail/preview process since they show up fine in Nikon View, the finder and Aperture before the thumbnail/preview processing takes place.
Obviously I can't downgrade to Raw Converter 2.1 or 2.2 since my files are from a D90, and I shoot in raw (not raw + jpeg) only so have been limping along with Nikon's software.
    Any ideas out there?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
I simply can't see the NEFs.
    OS X 10.5.5
    Aperture 2.1.2
    Nikon D90
Import runs fine, and the thumbs are there, but when opening a NEF a big thumb (7x4.5cm on the 24" screen) is displayed in the middle for a second, and then it turns into a dark red message "Unsupported Image Format".
It's general - no NEFs work for me.
I import directly into Aperture - do you import via the Nikon Software?
Previously I had an Olympus E400 - the RAWs worked fine in Aperture (directly imported).
    My strange observations are:
With the Olympus E400 (10MB) the size of the JPG files were 6-7MB and the RAW files (called .ORF) were 21MB.
With the Nikon D90 (12.3MB) the size of the JPGs are around 6.5MB (4288x2848 pixels), but the size of the NEFs are just around 11MB (I did expect over 21MB) and the pixels are 256x170 (although the picture says 4288x2848 on the camera itself).
I'm new to this support site - do Apple supporters take time to read our questions and join these discussions?

  • Digital Camera Raw update 4.02

is out in software update. I don;t see it on the Apple site yet however.
    This from software update

Discovered that the problem exists only with E-PM2 RAW files imported into Aperture before applying Digital Camera Raw Update 4.02. (I had been shooting RAW+JPEG since getting the camera, while waiting for RAW support.
    Found a solution:
Select all the problem files. Choose "Reprocess Originals" from the Photos menu. Done.

  • Camera Raw update on trial version of photoshop.

Getting very frustrated and wonder if any of you  clever people out there could help me. I have Elements 8 and have just bought a EOS600D, elements can't open or show a thumbnail of the raw images.
So I downloaded the trial of photoshop CS5 thinking this would solve my problem, but no, and  I can't seem to download the camera raw update to the trial version - does this seem right ?

So are you trying to locate a way to open your RAW images in Elements 8?  Assuming the latest version of Camera Raw supports your camera you can utilize the DNG converter to convert your RAW files to DMGs and then open those in Photoshop Elements.  You can find the DNG converter at http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=106&platform=Windows.
