Raw upload from camera yields magenta screen

I just tried to upload some raw images from my new Nikon D300's memory card to Aperture. The thumbnails are not there and when I clicked on them they yield a magenta screen that says "Unsupported Image Format". I am able to retrieve the images by Clicking "New Version from Master JPEG" in the Image menu, but cannot get the full raw version. This program did not have trouble with my Nikon 200's raw files and this program has handled my D300's JPEG and TIFF files okay. Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Bob

Hi,
Have a look at the thread below (see link).
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1756355
I Use a Nikon D2x and only take raw images (.NEF file)
It appears with the Apple digital camera RAW support 2.2 update install older RAW .NEF images/file become useless.
When I went back to Apple digital camera RAW support 2.1 update, all the images/files become fully functioning again.
this is the way I did it:
By deleting the awCamera.bundle file from, System/Library/CoreServices/RawCamera.bundle
and reinstall the RAW support 2.1 update. (see link to pple digital camera RAW support 2.1 update)
http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/digitalcamerarawcompatibilityupdate21.htm l
it worked for me, but this is just a work around and a bug fix is require. As I can not have the functionality of the newly supported camera’s like the Nikon D700.

  • What happens to Raw files when importing Raw+JPG from camera to Lightroom Mobile on iPad? Only JPGs are showing up.

Hey I am Brian, and I was wondering how Lightroom mobile works again as in when importing photos directly into iPad using the camera connection kit.? This is for IPad 2.  I . Like when importing raw files. now I just did a photo shoot. and I just uploaded them into lightroom 5 on desktop. the raw files are being pushed as smart priviews acroos ipad and iphone. its kinda cool seeing cr2 file showing up on lightroom mobile. when its coming from lightroom 5. but what about coming from camera to ipad.?
I thought you can import a Raw plus jpeg into ipad and it shows up as a jpeg plus raw file. well its not doing that. shows up as just jpeg.
cant wait for next update  of lighroom mobile.

With this version of LR Mobile we not support the direct RAW import.

  • RAW upload from Nikon 300S

I just bought the Nikon 300S and took some test shots
in both RAW (NEF format) and jpeg.
When I tried to upload the RAW i.e .nef extension, Photoshop Element 7 is giving me the error message that this file is not supported, however, when I upload the shots taken by Nikon 200, RAW ( .nef ) it uploads OK. I am baffled...  Doing my searches .. and came to the conclusion that Photoshop Element 7 needs to recognize that upload from 300S...  It still does not make any sense since windows 7 (in ms) looks at the extention to open the apps..   Any help is appreciated.

Your camera raw plugin needs to be updated to
    5.6.

  • How can you select which pictures to upload from camera? plus facebook ?

Is there any way to select which pictures from your digital camera you would like to upload on to iphoto? Or is the only way to upload all of the pictures on your camera? I have 214 pictures on my camera and 210 of them are already in iphoto...i only want to upload the new 4!
    Another question..
I am trying to upload my pictures on to Facebook, and they are significantly smaller than the pictures I uploaded via my PC. How can I get them to upload at normal size?
    THANKS!

    Re: the FaceBook problem
This sounds like you're uploading the Thumbnails that iPhoto uses to display the pics in the iPhoto Window not the pics themselves. Have you been uploading from the Data folder in the iPhoto Library Folder?
There are three ways (at least) to get files from the iPhoto Window.
    1. Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size.
    3. Show File: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

  • Photo size when uploaded from camera

I have been trying to order prints off of snapfish, and keep getting the resolution warning on every single picture. I have a Canon Powershot camera and have adjusted it so that it is on the highest resolution, so I think the problem comes from uploading to iPhoto. According to snapfish, 4x6 photos need to be 540x360 pixels and all of my pictures seem to be 270x360 pixels. Can I fix this?

    1. Where are you getting these measurements from? These 270 x 360 sound like the thumnails that iPhoto creates for display in the iPhoto Window.
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:
    *For Users of 10.5 Only*
You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Apple-Click for selecting multiple pics.
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
    *For users of 10.4 and 10.5* ...
Many internet sites such as Flickr and SmugMug have plug-ins for accessing the iPhoto Library. If the site you want to use doesn’t then some, one or any of these will also work:
To upload to a site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. However, if you're using Gmail you can use iPhoto2GMail
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
*If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running*:
Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
    Other options include:
    1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

  • How to import only RAW files from camera?

I also shoot with both RAW and JPEG, such that I have access to JPEGs to share with people immediately before post-processing.  But I only want to use RAW in my Lightroom flow.
When pictures are already in Lightroom, I use filters in the library view to show only RAW, or only JPEG, or both (by applying a filter on the file extension).
But how do I set a filter before importing?  I would like to import only the RAW pictures into lightroom, but I don't see a way of doing that using Lightroom's import from camera card features.  I either have to let lightroom  import all, and then remove the JPEGs, or use Windows explorer to copy over just RAW files and then use Lightroom to import.
I would like to use Lightroom in just one step to import all RAW files (but only RAW files) from the camera card directly to the library.  A file filter in the import dialog seems like an easy feature to implement.

Another reason to have a filter in import is then you can then apply a preset to the RAW files only. At present if I want to apply a preset to my RAW files on import I have to apply it to the JPEGs too as there is no way of being selective on import. I then have to remove the preset from the JPEGs, which is a pointless and unnecessary task, whilst LR is busy rendering the unwanted look.
I shoot both file types on one cameras as the JPEG gives me a look that is very hard to replicate with the RAW files and on another camera I use a picture style to remind me of what I was looking for when shooting. Again as it's a custom style it's very hard to replicate the look in LR from the RAW file.
Though a major reason I shoot both JPEGs + RAW is that I was asked by a client a few years back, when I only shot RAW for all the shots as JPEGs to select down from. As this was a 4 week feature film shoot it took several days constant rendering out of Photoshop to output the JPEGs. This was just before LR and even then, LR would still take considerable time to produce all those exported files, though a lot quicker than PS I would hope. So now I always shoot JPEGs as well so I never have to waste time outputting JPEGs for a client to do a rough select.

  • Problem with importing RAW files from camera

LR 1.3 refuses to import raw files from my camera. Only JPEG's are imported. Got a Canon 350D/Rebel XT. Once I copied the raw files to disk (using Camera Window) Import from disk works fine and converts the CR2 to DNG without a problem. The preference "Treat JPEG files next to..." makes no difference. Anybody a clue what's wrong?
    Thanks, Edwin

Yeah this is a known bug with Canon cameras in general (not just using Lightroom!). If you use the camera to download your images anyway, I believe the trick is to set the camera to mass storage mode and you'll also get the RAWs. Lightroom's import from camera is very buggy though, hence it is a better idea to use a reader, or to manually copy the files to your harddisk first and import from there.

  • Is this workflow possible? RAW photos from Camera to iPad3 to Lightroom on iMac desktop?

I would appreciate any advice you can give me - I posted the same question on the Adobe Lightroom forum to see if anyone over there knows, but since this is iPad-specific, I thought I'd ask here also:
Workflow:  Will this work?  Camera RAW to iPad3 to Lightroom???
I would like to use my new iPad3 in conjunction with my already-established Lightroom workflow on my desktop Mac.  What I have in mind is to shoot in RAW (Sony SLT A-65 - 24.3 megapixels) and then, in the field, transfer my photos from the camera to the iPad3 (64GB version).  On the iPad I might do some rudimentary editing - deleting duds, etc. - but I will still do all my significant editing in Lightroom on the Mac.  Thus, I need to export the photos, from the iPad, in either RAW or DNG and import them into LightRoom once I get back to my office.  My questions are:
Is it possible to import RAW photos into the iPad3 and either keep them in RAW or convert them to DNG?
Is it possible to export RAW or DNG photos from the iPad3 into Lightroom?
What app(s) do I need on the iPad3 to make this happen?
FYI - I am using Lightroom3, but will upgrade to Lightroom4 if that makes any difference in whether this will work or not.
Thanks so much, in advance, for your suggestions and your advice!

    MtnTess-
Importing photos into the iPad can be done with Apple's Camera Connection Kit.  The CCK consists of two adapters:  an SD adapter and a USB adapter.  If you do not already have the CCK, I suggest you get one whether it fits your workflow or not.
You can import Raw images in additon to JPEG (or instead of, if you only take photos in raw format.)  I do not know if you can display Raw images on the iPad, and it may depend on which camera you have.
I do not have Lightroom, so do not know about its ability to import photos from the iPad.  Aperture and iPhoto both have the needed import capability.
Even if your proposed workflow will work, I do not see an advantage to using the iPad as an intermediate platform.  I would transfer photos directly from the camera to the iMac.  You can copy them into the iPad for display purposes, but you do not have to delete them from the camera until they are safely stored on your computer.

  • Incremental uploads from camera, possible?

This weekend we took a trip and for the first time used our iPod for the one big reason I finally purchased it for, photo storage. My one gripe was that we often took pictures and uploaded to the iPod to better view the images. Then after inspection, more pictures were taken. A subsequent upload took the new pictures and already imported pictures and put them in a new roll. Thus, when I imported from the iPod to iPhoto, several of my photos were duplicated and I needed to delete the duplicates manually in iPhoto. Is there any way with the iPod to have it do incremental uploads of the photos? Or is it all or nothing?

iPod camera adapter is useless for my uploads as it is. So, the question no longer matters.

  • Import of RAW (nef) from camera to organiser

I have been using PSE7 and PSE8 for a long time without problems. Now I have installed the PSE9 and as usually I wanted to import my raw(nef) photos directly from the camera to the organiser, but this was not possible, it says: unsupported file format.
I have downloaded a camera raw plug-in, but this did not help the problem.
Can ony one suggest a solution?
    Happy new year form Denmark.

You may want to un-install and re-install again, but delete the plug-ins folder in Common Files before starting.
With PSE9 there is no need to update to ACR 6.3 manually. Simply click Help >Updates
    Everything will be done automatically.
