"raw voltage" y "frequency binds"

6-2 del manual): "The AI Sample Channel VI acquires a single value, in this case, raw voltage. The scaling value of 20 mph/volt wired to the Multiply function scales the input voltage range of 0 V to 10 V to the wind speed range of 0 mph to 200 mph."
La palabra "Frequency Binds" la encontre en la pagina 90 de 159 (pag. 13-1 del manual): "The number of points you collect determines the number of frequency bins that the data falls into. The size of each bin is the sampling rate divided by te number of points you collect. For example, if you sample at 500 S/s and collect 100 points, you have bins at 5 Hz intervals."

I am trying to configure my SCXI-1540 w/1315 card for excitation voltage and frequency using MAX - but it is not giving me that option when I click on the card and then properties, am I looking in the wrong place?
I have LabVIEW Express 7.0 Professional - SCXI-1000 Chassiss - along with SCXI-1112, and SCXI 1520/1314 - cable to the PCI-6052E is attached to the 1520 card.
MAX says it recognizes all the cards in the chassiss.

    Jeremy, Thanks for the reply.
I tried to set up the system as DAQmx.
I had MAX auto-detect the set-up - and it recognized all the cards - but did not select the 1315 accessory on the 1540 card - I had to do that manually - but in the configuration section I would select the accessory and it would deselect itself. I had to get out of the set-up and then right click on the 1540 card and click on the "Accessories" tab and select the 1315 terminal block that way.
It didn't seem right that the system should behave that way, but I pressed onward.
I then tried to create a new DAQmx Task
When I create new DAQmx task and then click on Analog Input no "Position" Tab appears for me to select, all I get are:
    Analog>>Voltage
    Analog>>Temperature
    Ana
    log>>Strain
    Analog>>Current
    Analog>>Resistance
    Analog>>Frequency
    Analog>>Custom Voltage with Excitation
Do you think there might be something wrong with either my hardware or perhaps my configuration that is not allowing it to recognize the 1540/1315 in DAQmx?
I had included the system report of what programs I am using, etc. as attached file nireport.txt
After the DAQmx did not work I tried installing everything as Traditional DAQ and it did let me set-up the 1540 Card with Excitation Voltage and Frequency and gain - I then went in to the VI that I had built and tried to use the Express DAQ Assisant to read the channel that I am connected to on the 1315/1540 - when I try to use DAQ Assistant it gives me an error saying that "Device not available in NI-DAQmx. It is possible that the device is being use by traditional NI-DAQ"
Which I guess it is since both configurations are now set-up in MAX.
I would PREFER to use the DAQmx set-up, but I am confused as to WHY it won
    't come up with
    Analog input>>POSITION>>LVDT
When I try to create a new DAQmx task.
Thanks for the help so far! As you can probably tell I am new at this.

  • Voltage and Frequency

    Hello everyone,
I intend to use my T400 laptop mostly in Germany where I will be studying for the next couple of years.  However, I realized that there is a difference in the type of plugs, voltage and frequency used between the two countries.  Is the A/C adapter that came with the laptop do the job.  May you kindly advise me how to overcome this problem.
Your quick reply is highly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Georges

    Georges, welcome to the forum,
your location shows as Germany, you don't metion which country the other one of the two countries is.
That said, all ThinkPad AC Adapters are rated with input 100V-240V. This means you can use your own adapter, all you will need is the power cable or a travel adapter for the plug.
    Hope this helps.

  • Voltage and Frequency concerns

    Hi,
I am planning to buy a Mac Mini in the US. According to specs,
    US Mac Mini:
    # Line voltage: 100-240V AC
    # Frequency: 50Hz to 60Hz, single phase
    # Maximum continuous power: 110W
The voltage and frequency in my country is 220-240 volt, at 50 hertz frequency. So, if I were to buy a Mac Mini in the US, and bring it back with me to Asia, will it sill work in my country?
    Thank You.

  • Display voltage/frequency of a input device beginner question

Hope I'm posting this question to the correct forum. I am creating a small application, that will send a input voltage/frequency of 30Hz. So what my java program should do is to identify the voltage/frequency that was input to my computer and display it.
I am new to this, and i hope i made my question clear here. Basically what i need is to display the inputed voltage/frequency.
I have no clue of how to start. Can some one show me an example code, so i could study it and understand how it hapence.

One question though: How were you planning on passing in the voltages and frequencies?

  • Detect frequency of an analog signal coming in through myRIo AudioIn analog port

I am working on a fire-fighting robot that runs using myRio. I have a small mic plugged into the 'AudioIn' port of the myRIO and the robot has to detect a certain frequency(2.8 or 3.5 KHz) to start navigation. The AnalogIn express VI gives me raw voltage amplitudes of type 'Double' but the 'Tone Measurment' vi I wanted to use takes in a 'Signal' data type. I tried converting the raw data to dynamic data and feeding it in but did not work. One problem is that I cannot control the sample rate of the AnalogIn express VI (LabView 2013), I appreciate any suggestions on how to go about doing it.

Thank you all for your feedback.
@Bob_Schor the robot competition is tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestions but the High Throughput Add-on turned out to be what I was looking for.
@MilanR thank you so much. I installed LabView 2014 and the myRIO 2014 High Throughput Add-on and I now have access to low level VIs that will let me control sampling frequency and number of samples.
I am now using 'Tone measurments' to measure the frequency of the sound. But the frequency measured is not accurate, but it is atleast consistent. I am sampling at 7 KHz and taking 5000 samples at once. The two frequencies I want to detect are 2.8 KHz and 3.5 KHz. However, the mesaured frequecies I get from Tone Measurment VI are 0.400 Hz and 0.499 Hz, which are always consistent. Picture is attached below.

  • New problem, 2 of 11 channels do not respond to input voltages

Hi All, I recently posted a question about my output flat lining, Thanks for all the help.  Since then we thought the problem was gone.  I'm not sure.  We had an applications engineer here on monday morning and she was great.  She re-did our vi front to back and we thought we were in.  Except now two of eleven channels seem to not like us, they pick a voltage point all there own and refuse to read above that point, they just flat line.  The set up for the Daq is as follows: Brand new Dell (bells and whistles) that had one PCI slot available for the new PCI-6224 M-Daq board.  To this we have a SCC-68 accepting signals from a generic 5-B module back plane (all analog grounds are shared).  Into the 5B's there are mixed voltage and current inputs (all modules are matched to the inputs and all output 0-5vDc).  Most inputs work great, two do not.  The new Block diagram uses my pre-defined Task with eleven inputs(mixed) with a couple of empty spaces on the board (i.e.0 is empty, 1-9,12,15 have inputs)  The channels that do not like us are 1 and 7.  The new vi. was built by the appl. engineer using my task and the panel included an indexing array so we can watch all channels at once while the file runs, we also collect data to a .lvm file for later export.  We have tried rescaling the inputs on both the trouble child channels a number of times, we checked the constants for each array and checked the waveform graphs too many times to remember.  If I disconnect these two channels and in put known voltage levels from a calibrator on channel 1 I see a change in signal up to 1.063 volts Dc then it flatlines.  The scaling for that channel was set up numerous times using Linear and Mapping functions in Max.  No difference, even when scaled to only read the voltage input (y=1 x=0).  We did change the Task(i.e. build a new one a number of times and paste it into a copy of the vi. the engineer built for us, no help.  I should mention that I changed all of the inputs at that time to NRSE from RSE (after the problem) because I felt the description of NRSE fit our situation better (High hopes).  All of the channels share an earth ground with their excitation power supplies (I did not set this up, I adopted it and am trying to make it work) and most travel hundreds of feet to the setup.  I do read the voltages that are supposed to be there in the SCC-68 and I do see them vary as they should, but the Daq card doesn't see what I see.  The App's Eng. can't come back soon enough to help us again so I was hoping someone here might have seen this before and be able to set me straight on what I did wrong.  Thanks Rich.

    Hello craftsmanatlarge,
Every time I have seen this bahavior occur, it has been because the input limits of the virtual channel are not correct.  Whenever you create a custom scale for a particular channel, you then have to specify the input limits (max and min) in terms of the scaled units, not the raw voltage.  Please check to make sure that you have done that.  If you are still having trouble after that, please post back with the specific numbers you are using for max and min input limits, and we can troubleshoot from there.
    Best regards,

  • How can I find the frequency of a signal from a turbine flowmeter?

My turbine flow meters output a voltage signal frequency. Is there are way that I can find the frequency in LabVIEW? Right now I have the flow meters wired to my card as analog inputs. Maybe I need to wire them in differently.

    Dear moebeth,
To address your question, can you include more information about the flow meters? As far as I know, turbine flow meters can have outputs of analog voltage, analog current, frequency/pulse, or switch.
If the meters are outputting a voltage, then connect it as an analog voltage input and use the analog voltage virtual channel.
If the meters are outputting a frequency or pulse, connect it as a counter input. With the counter input, you would need to program in LabVIEW without using a virtual channel. Instead, you would use the counter VIs. There are shipping examples included with LabVIEW. Measure Frequency (DAQ-STC).vi can be used just by pressing Run if you wire the signal into the source of whichever counter you want to use and th
    e ground into DGND.
Let me know if you have any further questions or if this does not resolve your issue.
Thanks again and have a great day!

  • High Bandwidth Voltage Input Isolation

    Hello,
I'm using the NI 6025E DAQ board and connect it through the SC2050 conditioning board to an analog I/O board, 5B01. I would like to isolate between the board and an analog signal coming out of of a DUT unit, and I need the isolation unit to be able to handle signals of Mghzs bandwidths.
I realize that I cannot find a 5Bxx unit with such high BW, but what do you recommend I should do instead ?
    Michael.

    Hello Michael,
I see that you are looking for an isolation module to connect to your 6025E device that has a bandwidth in the MHz range.  Unfortunately, I think this type of setup will not work for you since the 6025E has a maximum sampling rate of 200kHz.  If you need to be able to sample data in the MHz range you will need to have a device that can sample much faster (i.e. High Speed S-Series or  NI-Scope products).
Typically you do not see much signal conditioning for these types of devices since they have such a high bandwidth.  For example if you look at our SXCI isolated analog input modules they have a bandwidth of just over 20kHz.
I hope this helps.  If you have any additional questions can you please give us a little more information about the signal coming from your DUT (i.e. voltage and frequency range and what type of isolation you are looking for)?

  • Can I measure voltage with a current module by removing the resistor?

I'm trying to measure a 0-10 VDC signal and I don't have any voltage throughput modules for my 2345 signal conditioning unit. I do have some SCC-CI20 (4-20mA) input modules that use a 249 ohm resistor. The output from these modules are 1-5 VDC as expected. I'm wondering if I remove the resistor do I not have a voltage module?
Please help, I need to get some measurements done soon.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Yes, you can use the CI20 module to read in voltages. Connecting a voltage source in parallel with R3 will result in the same potential drop to appear across the R3 resistor (see diagram attached).
Make sure that you DO NOT configure the CI20 in the Measurement and Automation Explorer, so you can read the raw voltage. Also DO NOT supply more voltage than 5V, or you might damage the module.
    Hope this helps,
    Lesley Y.

  • EXT3 to RAW file system

    hi all,
i have RHEL as 4 and i have 3 partitions on 200gb hard disk d01 d02 d03 with ext3 file system now i want to change the d01 ext3 file system to raw partition for implementing ASM can some one help me out that would be great help thanks very much in advance.

    1. make a backup of your database
    2. decide if you want to use ASMlib or raw devices
the following is the text in an article on installing oracle 10g (http://www.oracle.com/technology/pub/articles/chan-ubl-vmware.html#5)
A raw device mapping is required only if you are planning on creating ASM disks using standard Linux I/O. An alternative to creating ASM disks is to use the ASM library driver provided by Oracle. You will configure ASM disks using ASM library driver later.
Perform the following tasks to map the raw devices to the shared partitions created earlier. The raw devices have to bind with the block devices each time a cluster node boots.
Add the following lines in /etc/sysconfig/rawdevices.
    /etc/sysconfig/rawdevices
    /dev/raw/raw1 /dev/sdc1
    /dev/raw/raw2 /dev/sdd1
    /dev/raw/raw3 /dev/sde1
To make the mapping effective immediately, execute the following commands as the root user:
    # /sbin/service rawdevices restart
    Assigning devices:
    /dev/raw/raw1 --> /dev/sdc1
    /dev/raw/raw1: bound to major 8, minor 33
    /dev/raw/raw2 --> /dev/sdd1
    /dev/raw/raw2: bound to major 8, minor 49
    /dev/raw/raw3 --> /dev/sde1
    /dev/raw/raw3: bound to major 8, minor 65
    done
    # chown oracle:dba /dev/raw/raw[1-3]
    # chmod 660 /dev/raw/raw[1-3]
    # ls -lat /dev/raw/raw*
    crw-rw---- 1 oracle dba 162, 3 Nov 4 07:04 /dev/raw/raw3
    crw-rw---- 1 oracle dba 162, 2 Nov 4 07:04 /dev/raw/raw2
    crw-rw---- 1 oracle dba 162, 1 Nov 4 07:04 /dev/raw/raw1
    As the oracle user, execute
    rac1-> ln -sf /dev/raw/raw1 /u01/oradata/devdb/asmdisk1
    rac1-> ln -sf /dev/raw/raw2 /u01/oradata/devdb/asmdisk2
    rac1-> ln -sf /dev/raw/raw3 /u01/oradata/devdb/asmdisk3
Modify /etc/udev/permissions.d/50-udev.permissions. Raw devices are remapped on boot. The ownership of the raw devices will change to the root user by default upon boot. ASM will have problem accessing the shared partitions if the ownership is not the oracle user. Comment the original line, “raw/*:root:disk:0660” in /etc/udev/permissions.d/50-udev.permissions and add a new line, “raw/*:oracle:dba:0660.”
    /etc/udev/permissions.d/50-udev.permissions
    # raw devices
    ram*:root:disk:0660
    #raw/*:root:disk:0660
    raw/*:oracle:dba:0660

  • Camera raw filter 8.x artifacts (not posterization, not banding) when using noise reduction

hi. i use camera raw filter for frequency separation, using noise reduction. And these strange lines keep appearing and messing everything up.
What is this and how do i get rid of them. Maybe it's a bug of some sort? It looks like ACR is breaking the image to pieces and working with them individually and combining them back.
If the sliders are not 100-0-0, the lines reduces, but is still there

I am seeing the same thing in a random test image someone else posted of buildings at night.  The discontinuity becomes more apparent if you maximize the sharpening but it is not there in the saved result so appears to be the difference between rendering for the display and rendering for output:
The output TIF does not have it:
