Razr keeps power cycling

My Razr suddenly starting power cycling yesterday. It was close to a full battery and I set it down for about an hour. When I picked it back up, it was completely unresponsive - the battery had died. I plugged it in to recharge and when it finally got up enough charge to power back on, I got the Select Dock Type message (supposedly connected to HDMI even though it wasn't.) After a few minutes, it started the power cycling and hasn't stopped. I did a factory reset, hoping that would work, but I get the "please wait, this may take a few minutes" screen then it restarts again.
It seems like a hardware issue but I'm concerned about sending it back and getting a new phone because I dropped it a while back and there's a ding on the corner near the headphone jack. I don't want to be on the hook for the full retail price of this phone if they decide that ding caused the problem (even though it worked fine after I dropped it and this power cycling/hdmi problem happened out of the blue.) Is there anything else I can do to fix it?

Well then the Only solution i would have.. Holly would be shut your Maxx down Pull the Sim Card leave it out for 2 min then Re-install it. Was the phone bought an card installed at the Store Holly if so the Rep doing the Install might have touched the Sim Card the Gold area of  them is really sensitive to Static Electricity & the Oils in our fingers an if touched they can Fail or Cause issues in your phone.. To Understand this a little better it's like taking a Magnet an Going over a Credit card you do it once or Twice over the Strip it can Render the Card Useless. So you might try getting a New Card an see if that Works But Remember Watch how you hold the Sim Card.. Good Luck b33

got a lg g2 a couple weeks ago and it keeps power cycling. Did a factory reset to try and fix the problem and that hasn't helped. i Have just the factory apps installed. any ideas why this could be happening? it happens even with no apps running.

    Hi Jonathan!
I did end up doing a factory reset 2 days ago..  So far it hasn't done a
reboot.  I cross my figures every time I swipe to open it but so far so
    good.
I didn't have a bunch of apps on it but there could have been a troublesome
    one downloaded.  '
Why don't I give it some time to see if it starts rebooting again.  If it
    does, I'll email you back.
Thanks so mcu for your help!!

  • HT201413 ? I have an iPad 3 and it just keeps power cycling.  I have tried to restore it with iTunes several times and it keeps coming up with Error 9.  Loss of USB connection.  I have tried different cables and ports and it wont come back to life.

Can't seem to figure this out on my own.  My apple store is 90 minites away and I would like to not burn up a weekend traveling to the store just to have it sent away.  Any ideas what I can do to get my iPad3 from power cycling.  I am up to date on all software updates.

    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

Have the z68ma-ed55 with a Intel I7-2600K LGA 1155 CPU and 8 GB ram and when i power it up the MB stays on for 10 seconds and then powers down again.
If i pull one stick of the memory the unit powers up and starts beeping... what am i missing here?
    ■Intel I7-2600K LGA 1155
    ■DDR# 1600 Hperx T1 2x4 gb module total of 8GB memory

Suspect an incompatibility with the RAM or even the possibility of a CPU socket pin problem. Do you have a single stick of standard DDR3 1333 chipped 9 9 9 xx 1.50v. + or - 0.75v. RAM you can try? Possibly a relative, friend, or co-worker has one you can try with?
Added: Not normal procedure, but you might try a single stick in each RAM slot & check for POST. Also, have you tried a power cord removed from the PSU, battery removed for awhile, CMOS clear?
2nd add: What is the UEFI/BIOS version listed on the green sticker on the mainboards BIOS chip?

How can I keep apps in the order I prefer?  I've rearranged via iTunes but every time I power cycle the phone, the apps go back to their original positions...

    Hi kelori617,
If you are having issues organizing the Apps on your iPhone via iTunes, you may want to double-check the steps in the following article and make sure you are syncing any changes to your device:
iTunes 11 for Mac: Sync and organize iOS apps
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12115
iTunes 11 for Windows: Sync and organize iOS apps
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12315
If all of the steps are correct and the changes still aren't being retained when you restart your iPhone, you may want to make sure your data is backed up, then try restoring your iPhone to factory settings, restore your data from the backup, then test to see if you can organize your apps via iTunes:
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings

  • Display brightness setting doesn't stick on power cycle

The display brightness setting doesn't seem to stick during power cycles on my new 13" i7, it almost always sets itself to full brightness when I turn it on. This isn't really a huge deal but it is kind of a nuisance as I typically keep it around half, why should I be turning it back down every time I boot up???.
I have un-checked the box through settings for adjusting brightness based on ambient light, and made sure it is in fact staying un-checked.
I have also reset PRAM a few times now which seems to provide a temporary fix only. After a day or two it's back to square one again.
Any ideas, or is this a bug that there's currently no fix for?

Hi, I have recently bought GE60-0ND notebook with Win8 preinstalled which I got rid of in a second I got home, reinstalled with my licensed Win7. Half of things didn't work so I flashed the correct firmware. From that point on everything works perfectly, only brightness control is broken. I simply cannot control my monitor's brightness with my special keys nor in power control setup. So I googled.. and some smart guy recommended a bios flash as well. But when I try, it says either "Problem getting flash information" or "Problem getting bios information".
Any thoughts how to get the brightness control work?
Thanks for any kind of advice
Did you switch the BIOS and the EC Firmware to the Windows 7 counterparts?
You may want to ask Svet about that error.

  • Error PWRCYCLE: Card in module 7, is being power cycled off

I have Cisco IDM version 6.1(2)E3.This IDM is module type which once with core switch. The problem its when each time want access GUI use https://10.x.x.x out error 443 and I forced reset ips use command line. When I show log at core switch found PWRCYCLE: Card in module 7, is being power cycled off (Module note responding to Keep Alive polling).
    Any body help me...

The PWRCYCLE log entry in your switch is expected when you reset you sensor. A sensor reset will reload the sensor taking it off the power bus and putting it back on. This results in several switch log messages about the sensor on slot 7.
Your GUI access problem is a different matter. Search this forum for the symptoms you are experiencing. There have been many working solutions to GUI problems posted here.

  • WRT310N version 1: Port 4 light is on but nothing is connected after power cycle

I have the WRT310N version 1 with the latest firmware date Dec 2009.  Everything is working great except when I turn off the router and power back up.  I am only using port 1 but after a power cycle both port 1 and port 4 lights are on and I can't connect to the Internet.  If I keep unplugging the router (2 to 5 times) with 30 secs between I can eventually get just the port 1 light and then everything is good to go until the next power cycle.  I don't need or want to keep my router on 24/7 so any advice is greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance!

    Hello.
Try to hard reset the router by pushing the button for 30 secs then power cycle it again.
What if you plug the computer to the other ports? Do you experience the same problem? Have you tried a different cable to connect the computer?
Not sure if reflashing the firmware could help on this one but you could also give that a try. click here
Make sure you know the hardware version of your router before reflashing the firmware. It is found underneath the router itself.

  • AirPort Express base station needs frequent power-cycling

Hi, I've got an AirPort Express base station, roughly three years old at this point. Every so often I can't connect to the internet --- not wirelessly from my laptop, nor from the desktop that is cabled to the base station. The solution is to power-cycle the base station. Other, less drastic attempts to restore my internet connection never work.
This used to happen just every once in a while, but it's been increasing in frequency --- to the point where it happens almost every day now.
Anyone know what's going on? Time to take it in for service, or maybe time to buy a new one?

Thanks for the clarification. This will make troubleshooting somewhat easier.
Suggest that you pick a time when you can turn the wireless off on the AirPort Extreme for a few days. Keep as many things as possible connected using ethernet cables. If you find that you do not have to restart the AirPort Extreme daily as you do now, that's a pretty strong indication that the problems are being caused by wireless interference of some sort.
Remember that devices connected using ethernet and devices that are connected using wireless are all still on the same network. So, if the wireless is picking up stray interference, it can certainly affect other devices on the network, including loss of your Internet connection.
If you find that you still need to restart the AirPort Extreme with wireless turned off during your "test", then that narrows the possible issues down to several things:
o The modem is experiencing intermittent problems
o The AirPort Extreme is experiencing intermittent problems
Assuming that you know you have good ethernet cables, you can plug a computer directly into the modem for a day or two and keep tabs on things. If you continue to experience a connection loss, the modem is likely acting up.
If you have no problems connecting directly to the modem, then it's time to take the Airport Extreme to an Apple store to let them have a look and perform some diagnostics. If it's an intermittent problem, it will be hard to find, as the product will likely perform perfectly during the tests.

  • Constant Power Cycling after JB Update

I am having experience dozens of power cycles throughout the day on my RAZR MAXX HD since I completed the last software update. My phone reboots every 24-30 minutes throughout all day. Even when I am not using the device, it will power cycle. I tried to clear the cache but I am still experiencing the same issue. Are there any additional steps I can take to resolve this problem other than a factory reset?
Should I try to clear the cache a few more times?

You could also try booting up in safe mode just to rule out the possibilty of an app not playing nice with jellybean.  before the factory reset.   It has been my experience that a factory data reset has solved most of the issues ive had all but a few.       good luck                                                                                           Jesse

  • Keeping battery cycles low

So I've been reading up on this forum regarding batteries and battery cycles, I've owned my MBP for about 3 months now, and Im already up to 51 cycles! I do use my computer quite a bit.
Now I've read that Apple suggests not always running your laptop with the power plugged in, but rather that it is healthier for the battery to be regularly draining and recharging it, is there really any truth to that??
What I really want to know is that if I'm at home, where I can keep the MBP plugged in most of the time, will that keep my cycle count low?? Really I bought this computer with the intent of using it as much, if not more, than people use desktop computers. Sometimes I may be on this computer for 6+ hours a day. It worries me that I'm told I should usually run it off battery, and that once my battery reaches the 300 cycle mark, I should expect it to start dying.
Is 51 cycles in the 1st 3 months alot more than I should have?? Suggestions please...

I find that those with around 200-300 cycles on the clock at 2 years will generally have the best performing batteries at that time. if you think yuo're going to be under that then use your MBP on battery more often. Simple as that. Otherwise, if you feel you'll be at or over that mark after 2 years then there's nothing at all you need to do.
    Doing a Battery Calibration…
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86284
… every month or so is in fact not necessary beyond ensuring you MBP is able to correctly determine your battery's true state. For a regularly used battery is serves no other purpose. For those that don't use their batteries regularly it's akin to forcing a PS3-playing slob of a child to take a weekly gym class in a hope they won't turn into a relative of Jabba the Hutt.

  • DHCP not expiring and unit needing power cycling

I've had my AirPort Extreme N gigabit router for about two days now and am having several issues. I upgraded to the 7.2.1 firmware, but that didn't help. I've noticed that DHCP leases, after expiring, aren't releasing and therefor aren't allowing DHCP devices to reconnect. The only work around for this has been to blow out the DHCP lease window exponentially. Secondly, are the activity lights for the lan ports on the back of the Unit supposed to remain on? Mine keep turning off and I have to power cycle the unit to get them to come back on...before they turn off again. I've also had issues where Gigabit Ethernet cards cannot make connections until I reboot the unit. Also, how warm should this device be?

    Thanks for the replies,
I have already tried a full power cycle before posting, should have made that clear in my first post, sorry. Straight after the power cut, I shut everything down for 10 minutes, and then powered all device up one by one.
Also, I just tried changing the beginning address from '192.168' to '10.0' and this made no difference to the issue.
    When trying to get an IP address through DHCP, I receive;
    IP '169.254.117.112'
    subnet mask '255.255.0.0'
    and empty router field
which is extremely strange, as I used to get a subnet mask of '255.255.255.0' and the router's IP has not changed since getting the TC.

    Motherboard: P67A-GD65
    Motherboard BIOS: 1.8?
    Hello, I have recently purchased a P67A-GD65 from newegg along with a 2600k and G.SKILL DDR3-1600 (F3-12800CL6D-4GBXH)
The problem I am having is that the motherboard will stay on for about 5 seconds then it will reboot, and continue to do so until I turn off the power from the PSU. It will not post so I cannot access the bios or anything.
I have been in contact with msi tech support and they keep telling me to do what I have already done so many times.
I already returned my board for a replacement once but the replacement had the same power cycling issues. I am thinking of buying some cheap 1333 CL9 RAM to see if I can manage to get into the UEFI and see if I can tweak something into making my RAM work
I went on to the G.SKILL forum and found an interesting thread about RAM incompatiblities. Could this be causing the constant reboots?
(Have cleared CMOS many times, tried different PSU, ETC)
    tl;dr
Is my RAM causing the P67A-GD65 to continuously reboot without posting?
Bought some Patriot 2GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 CL9 RAM from newegg today to see if those will work.
Your help is greatly appreciated, Thanks!

Alright, the new ram I bought should arrive in a few days (3 or 4).
In the meantime while waiting, try this. With one stick RAM in the primary blue dimm slot, if you get in to the BIOS then, set DRAM Mode to 'Link', timings to 9 9 9 24, tRFC 88, DRAM V. to 1.507 or 1.521. Looking at those timings of the G.Skills in your component list, SPD being set must be rather non standard (just a guess).

  • DVR Box 7216 power cycling repeatedly

My DVR is self-power cycling at random.  This is extremely frustrating, obviously!  Verizon live chat said it fixed it by resetting the box from their office and then, when that didn't work, told me to replace the HDML cord, which I did and also didn't work.
I talked to a live agent two days ago (who was rude to me) who told me that many people are having this issue and it is a software glitch.  Apparently Verizon has no idea when this is going to be fixed.  The agent's advice - just wait, nothing to be done about it.  Meanwhile I'm paying for this????
I looked on here/the Internet to see if it's true that "many people" are having this issue and don't find too many people talking about it.
If anyone else has had this issue and has any information, please please.... share.
    Thanks!

I've been having the same problem with the same model,  the issue has been occuring since the day they installed the DVR,  it will do it at random.
It also drops off the network,  for days at a time.  This last time after one of the 'updates' to the system while I was overseas.
I went through resetting the modem,  all the boxes,  it didn't work.   The self diagnostics keeps saying that the coax cable is bad, but it has said that about every single coax cable, before and after having them replaced.  Now it doesn't take no sherlock holmes to point the finger at the set top box as part of a single process of elimination.  Even your website happily sees the other two set top boxes but the DVR just does not want to talk to it either.
I even tried connecting it to the connection in the other rooms and it still shows as having a bad cable?
Just to be on the safe side, in case something happened to one of the coax cables I had someone replace them.  Still nothing.
It's bad enough that every so often the noise it makes from it's hard drive is so loud that it can be heard in other rooms in the house, a clicking or ticking noise.
As for anything around the DVR,  I have kept 6 inches all around it, the only the underside which I cannot do anything about without bringing in Kris Angel Mind Freak to levitate the DVR.
When I had Directv I never had any problems with the boxes,  never had problems with not being able to access them from the Internet yet in the 2 years that I have had FIOS I have had issues continually with this feature.  For someone that is on the go and relies on the DVR to let them catch the shows they want and edit recording lists to save them having to wade through a massive swathe of recordings to pick out those that the really wanted more than others and do it from other locations.
I can tell you it was frustrating to suddenly lose that functionality while I was away and to still be without that functionality more than 21 days.
I have been told before that it is normal for the boxes to restart themself after an update, but there can't be that many updates and as customers we should not be expected to deal with sub-par equipment when we are paying a premium for services from Verizon!

I have an HP 6310 AIO Printer; Whenever I try to fax a document from my PC, the printer locks up (All lights flashing) and needs to be power-cycled. I can fax from the printer glass directly but unable to from my PC. Also the software communicates properly whenever I am scanning from the glass or feed tray.
