Razr M Picture messages failing

This is a problem i've been having since i got this phone, but as i found a workaround i lived with it for a while, bet enough is enough.
Whenever i send a picture message to someone after a few seconds the message pops up as "failed". to get the picture to send, i have to delete any existing conversation with the recipient(s) and then resend a brand new message with the picture and it works no problem, this however does become an issue on ongoing group messages or if there is info in the conversation that is important that i need to keep.
any ideas as to what can be causing these messages to fail? I have reset my phone, but the problem was still there. any ideas or help would be appreciated!

wouldn't the messages just stay in the network until the receiver was able to get the messages? I've sent many messages to people who had their phones powered off and never had them returned, they just get the message when the turn them back on.
The system tries to resend the message for a few days after you original sent the message if the phones are turned off. I was referring to a bad signal area where there is a signal, but it isn't very strong.

I have an iPhone 4S and I am on 5.0.  Every time I try to send a picture message to someone it says message send failure.  Is anyone else having this problem or does anyone know how to fix this?

    Hello mokujon,
The iPhone 4S has one of the best cameras ever on a cellular device! I can certainly help in getting your picture messaging working so you can share pictures with your friends and family between devices. Below, I have listed a few troubleshooting steps for you to try on the device to resolve this issue. Although some steps may have been posted by another community member, I'm reiterating this information just in case someone else is searching for the answer as well. Please see steps below:
Verify signal strength. (At least 2 bars of 3G)
Enable MMS Messaging in Settings (Settings > Messages > MMS Messaging On)
Turn off bluetooth and wifi when not in use.
Enable Send As SMS in Settings.
Power the device off then back on.
Perform a Restore on the device using iTunes.
Additional steps suggested by Apple - http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2755
The last troubleshooting step does erase all personal information from the iPhone. It is recommended that the device is sync'd with a computer prior to the restore to archive your information. Once the Restore has been performed then test all voice and data service on the iPhone for functionality. Please reply with your findings as I am eager to know if these steps resolved the picture messaging issue.
    Thank you...

  • Why can't I send picture messages and group messages with MMS?

Picture messages fail to certain people with invalid destination address.  Then the group messages won't send unless I send them as individual texts.  Very frustrating.

I am having this same issue! I got my S3 in December & it has worked fine until about a month and half ago. . .around the time of latest software update! I can not send MMMS messages (group texts, pics, videos). It doesn't matter if I am on wi-fi, 3g, 4g LTE. It does not send!!! And I am getting ******. Help Verizon!!

  • IPod touch 4G cannot send, only receive picture messages

As the title says.  I am able to send and receive normal messages, am connected to wifi, etc.  The only function that is not working is the ability to SEND picture messages.  I am able to receive them just fine - after yet another picture message failed, I had a friend send me a test picture, and immediately after successfully receiving it, I attempted to resend - failure, again.  It also has been taking up to a couple minutes for the "!" failed notification to appear on the messages.
Things I have tried already today:
    - "renew lease" on wifi
    - toggled iMessages on and off
    - reset my iPod
    - upgraded to iOS 6.1.3 (from 6.0.1; hadn't seen a need to since I first got the iPod)
All with no success.  It stopped working sometime between June 5th and June 10th.  It is driving me absolutely MAD and I cannot find any helpful and recent information.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • I get a "Network Authentication Failed" when trying to send a picture message...any suggestions?

My daughter has a Samsung Intensity II and whenever she  (or I) try to send a picture message from it, we get "Network Authentication Failed". I have tried calling *228, option 2, but that did not resolve the problem. Any other suggestions out there?

Try *228, option 1 instead to reprogram the phone. Option 2 just updates the roaming list.
Are you in an extended coverage area? You should be within a native Verizon Wireless coverage area when reprogramming the phone.

  • Network authentication failed error message when trying to send picture messages

I have a family member who is trying to send picture messages from Dubois, WY.  Verizon's map shows that Dubois is in the extended enhanced services area.  I am guessing that this may be one of those instances where the coverage map is not 100% accurate.  Please let me know if you have any other ideas or suggestions as to what the problem might be or how to resolve it.

Customers have the ability to take pictures / videos anywhere. However, messages can only be sent, received, or uploaded, while in the Verizon Wireless National Enhanced Services Rate and Extended Network Coverage Area.
Try dialing *228 send and option 2 to update the PRL on the phone.  Updating the PRL or Preferred Roaming List, ensures the phone is getting the best service possible.

  • Failed picture messages

My iphone 4 will not send or receive picture messages other than from other Apple products. I think I have tried every setting there is to change and really need some advice please.

Could having it on Straight Talk be the problem?

  • Picture message send fail - iPhone 5 - iOS7

I cannot send a picture message from my iphone 5 with ios7 upgrade, I cannot send a picture message from my iphone 5 with ios7 upgrade

I'm definitely getting the same thing. I'll attempt to send an SMS message with a perfect connection and it will immediately pop up with a message send failure, before it even attempts to send. However, the person seems to always be getting the message regardless. When I resend the message, the person I'm sending it to asks why I sent it twice.
What's going on? Should I reinstall iOS 6?

  • I can't send picture messages or group messages to people without an iPhone.

I am unable to send pictures or group messages to my contacts that aren't iPhone users. Seems like this started happening since the last update. Very frustrated.

        Hi there krd2687!
Sharing your precious memories is absolutely important and I'm so sorry for the concerns you're having. I appreciate all of the steps you've already completed so far. I took a deep dive in to the Razr Maxx HD and didn't find any reported concerns such as this.
To clarify, are you able to send picture messages to individuals or does it only fail when you try to send the same picture to multiple people at the same time? Are you able to send text messages?
Do you happen to have a picture/video(multimedia) message block on your line? See here: http://vz.to/1cxwDLV on how to edit or change service blocks.
    Keep me posted!
    Thanks!

  • Phone no longer can send / receive picture messages after "support" call

    Hoping someone can help.
A few weeks ago my phone was having intermittent problems sending picture messages (text are fine). I would sometimes have to retry several times for it to go through, but I could always get it to go through. I have a LG VX9400, btw.
Since it did not resolve itself I decided to place a support call. During that call the technician did "nothing", but after he had me dial *228 option 1 I can no longer send messages at ALL! I was then told I needed a software upgrade or could not be helped further. Now I've received the software update and it still does not work. It has been escalated to engineering and closed (without contacting me) and has been attributed to my phone, but nobody can tell me how they came to this resolution.
I have had this problem in the past where it's been on the Verizon network the configuration has to be changed (there have even been blocks that I've never put on there), but nobody is willing to dig into this and says I now have to reflash, hard reset my phone or get another one.
Also note, mobile web even for account management doesn't work (I did have blocks, have since taken them off so not sure if I have to wait). It also seems I am getting a message receipt failed when I turn my phone off and on, again I only noticed this after calling support.
Any help / suggestions / etc greatly appreciated as I really don't think it's my phone since it was working (albeit intermittent) prior to the "support" I received from Verizon.
    Thanks!!

    @MySlickDeals
It's very upsetting having picture messaging issues, especially after calling in to technical support and not getting the issue resolved. Let's get this worked on right away.
Have you tried deleting the old text and picture messages and retrying? Please also remove and reinsert the battery and retest.
Does this happen everywhere or just one location? After the software upgrade did they hard reset the device?
    Hard reset instructions:
From the main screen, press Menu.
    Scroll to Settings & Tools.
Scroll to Phone Settings, press OK.
    Scroll to Security, press OK.
    Enter Lock Code ???? displays,
enter the 4 digit lock code ( default: last 4 digits of phone number ).
Scroll to Reset Default, press OK.
Reset Default - Preference Settings will be set to factory defaults. Press <OK> to continue. displays, press OK.
    Scroll to Revert, press OK
If you are still experiencing issues after this reset please send me a PM and I will look into your account.
    Thank you

Just uninstalled Desktop 5.0 and installed Desktop 6.0.
Everything else seems to be working fine.  It's just that when I try to access "Media Sync-->Pictures". I get the following message:

  • Problem with picture message

    Hello Sony Ericsson,
Few months ago I bought "sony ericsson phone W995" and I enjoy this phone pretty much except one thing. I cannot send and receive any picture messages. Every time I try to send picture, it says "MMS setting missing," then I click "install now" but it doesn't work. I did contact my provider "T-Mobil" and they tried their best but they don't have manual setting for this model W995. So I was suggested to contact manufacture that you guys send me a "missing manual setting" to my phone. Unfortunately, after few contacts with Sony Ericsson manufacture I still didn't resolve the problem because manufacture said that I have to talk with my provider about this problem and that I need to have internet on my phone for picture messages. So I do have internet, but as I mentioned above my provider doesn't have "Manual setting" for this model. Can someone help me to resolve this problem please? If in order for my phone to work (picture messaging) I need to buy "setting" I will buy it, just let me know how can I fix such problem. I really need picture messages setting on my phone. And just to let you know, don't send me to my provider because it would not work (I did few times).
    Thanks

What do you mean "change network?" Do you mean change mobile company? I actually pretty much happy with my mobile company, and I been member of T-Mobile for 5 years. So it doesn't sound reasonable for me to change mob.comp. just because of such issue. I think there should be negotiation between carrier and phone maker that the customers would be happy and that they wish to use their (T-mob, and Sony..) products in the future. Customer satisfaction should be priority number one for both of you in order for your buisness to be successesful.  I would be happy if someone could help me with my phone. It is kind of unusual that mms was not installed in the phone by manufacture. All phone programs should be in there already and the carrier’s responsibility is to make them functional (that is how I understand such business). Also, recently I realized that somehow my phone is able to receive pict. messages and some of them can be opened (not all), but I cannot send any pict. messages(it says "message failed"). So maybe something else is the issue?
    Thanks,

  • Picture messages

Hi all. Has anyone out there had problems sending picture messages. I have just become a grandad for the first time and cant send my granddaughters pictures to anyone. The progress bar gets to about 90% and stops. Then I get a message failed warning.

    Check this out:
Go to Settings>General>Network     Make sure 3G and Cellular Data are on.
If that doesn't work, try re-entering your wifi network password. Maybe even go so far as to "forget it" and the set it up again.

  • Problem replying back to picture message

Just found a new problem with Razr. When I get a picture message from somebody that sent to multiple people, I reply back only to find that my reply goes to everyone the picture was sent to. Cannot figure out how to stop this.

Are you speaking of a Text message? I believe Reply to All is the default.  I haven't had this issue so I can't troubleshoot it for you if it doesn't work, but I've read that if you press and hold the conversation box, you will get an option to reply to sender.  I believe you may have to scroll down to the end of your options.
If you are speaking of an email message using Gmail, touch the triangle by the reply button in the message header. It will open up and show options of Reply, Reply All or Forward.
If you want to change your reply default options for Gmail, with Gmail open go to Menu>More>Settings and select your gmail account.  Scroll down General settings and uncheck Reply All.
