RBL Stuff
I wonder what kinda RBL server you are running on your IronPort box and how's the order list?
sbl-xbl.spamhaus.org
list.dsbl.org
relays.ordb.org
dul.dnsbl.sorbs.net
etc...
What do you recommendation of each RBL server?

We don't use RBLs either. We tried them before we used IronPort/Senderbase, and they were more hassle than they were worth.
That was a factor here as well. We're pretty thin on staffing, and keeping up with all the hand-holding needed to make RBLs work reliably just wasn't an option.
Besides, as I understand it SenderBase uses several of the major RBLs in its calculations anyway.

Non-system wide DNS Lookups on RBL (i.e. logical groups supported)
Sun Java System Messaging Server documetation seems to state that RBL filtering can only exist in one of three files that are used for filtering based off of inbound connection IP address. My question is, can conditional execution occur for a section of one of these files based of destination e-mail address?
I'd like to have multipule levels of e-mail filtering using RBL and allow users to be assinged to the level of filtering they desire by joining a logical group which will enable a level of RBL filtering for that logical group.
Any help is greatly appreciated, as far as I can see, I can only have one system wide filtering set, so I can't possibly have one set of e-mail ids using 10 RBL (remote black lists) and another group e-mail ids using a smaller set of RBLs.

====================================Alas, the RBL stuff is done before iMS even knows who the message is addressd to. That stuff is done at the initial connection phase, as our philosophy is to reject a message just as soon as possible . . .
After the message is accepted, then you can opt-in/out for things like spamassassin, brightmail, etc. -

Therefore you need to use LOG_CONNECTION=7 to get the same behaviour as you had with LOG_CONNECTION=5 previously plus the additional logging.

Still haven't patched, but there was no new alarm - and really no activity on the server, maybe it was the relay tests, or some RBL slowness (though I don't think any RBLs have been triggered, though perhaps they are strill checked?)It could indeed have been a combination of the two. RBL's are always checked - they will only be 'triggered' (connections refused) if the RBL lookup returns a value.
- this is a relatively unknown system as of now - although there are several relaying attempts not from the test, and smtp connection errors, expected packet, etc.

My mappings RBL stuff seems to only be on 25 - no reference to |587| in there...Unless your RBL lookup explicitly specify port 25 they will be checked for connections to all server ports, which includes 587.

is a caching local DNS system still valuable? Yes, it takes load of your DNS systems and makes the overall responsiveness of the MTA better.
does the auth on 587 make it a more expensive query?Not sure what this means. The client authentication is required to allow relaying via port 587, so it's "expense" in this context is irrelevant since the cost of not having it (i.e. allowing relaying) is infinitely higher.
how/why would one perform RBL checks on 587 in the first placeYou wouldn't as there is no gain to it. External email servers (including spammers) send via port 25. If a spammer connected to port 587 they would not be able to send emails since they are unable to authenticate.

You can create a new Apple ID without using a credit card for download free apps by following this guide: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2534. Follow it exactly as writtien. Note that you have to download and try to install a free app and then create the ID.

If it says your billing info is wrong that means that your credit card issuer is refusing to approve your account. You will have to solve the problem with your bank or credit card company.

i have one of the old macbooks and wish to hook it up to my tv. do i need a mini dvi to hdmi adapter plus a 3 rca phono lead with a jack for the sound. please help as im useless at this stuff. cheers
First we need to know which one of the 9 different models of MacBook you have. To see which model you have go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info (and then System Report if you’re running 10.7 Lion). When System Profiler comes up check the Model Identifier and post it back here.
The Late 2008 model 5,1 Aluminum Unibody and the Late 2009 model 6,1 and Mid 2010 model 7,1 White Unibody have a Mini DisplayPort. The Early 2006 model 1,1 through Early 2008 model 4,1s plus the Early and Mid 2009 model 5,2s have Mini-DVI ports. Each would take a different adapter to connect with the TV. -

How do I transfer stuff from one account to another?
I have gone on both accounts and allowed "sharing" but for some reason when i click on finder>macintosh HD> then users and then click on the other account, all the stuff is locked.
I just need pictures and music off of the other one..how do I do this?

P.S. don't copy the folder Music and Pictures themselves. copy what's inside.

I found My iPhone contacts on my friends Iphone we both have 4s! But we use the same apple ID and ICloud ID! How can undo what happened? all my private stuff is now on his phone!!! help me plz!!?
Of course if you are both connected to the same iCloud account you have the same contacts - what did you expect?. The contacts live on the server and are read from there by the devices; so as you've both managed to sync your contacts up to iCloud they are now inextricably mixed. You can only delete your contacts by deleting individual ones, and doing that will delete them from your phone as well.
You can only unravel this by
1. In the iCloud contacts page at http://icloud.com, select all the contacts, click on the cogwheel icon at bottom left and choose 'Export vCard'.
2. Sign out of System Preferences>iCloud
3. Create a new Apple ID and open a new iCloud account with it for your own use.
4. Import the vCard back into the iCloud contacts page.
5. Go to http://icloud.com and sign in with the original ID. This is now his ID. Work through the contacts individually deleting the ones you don't want him to have. When done sign out and advise him to change his password.
6. Go to the new iCloud account and delete his contacts individually.
Of course if you have also been syncing calendars and using the same email address there are problems with doing this. -

I downloaded the new version of itunes and when i plug my phone into the computer and try and do something in itunes it wont let me because my device is synced to another itunes library. how do i get my old itunes back? or how can i sync my stuff into the new itunes with out deleting anything off my phone? Copy the iTunes folder from the old computer to your new one.

Since downloading ios5 on my iphone 4 a few days ago, the capacity guage in itunes shows "other" as over 21Gb and i can no longer fit any music on my iphone.
How do I get rid of the other stuff?

i previously had 21.97 Gb music, over 6 Gb photos, about 1Gb of apps, and minute amount of audio
now i have no music, 5.4 Gb photos and similar (0.8Gb) for apps and audio. i have deleted heaps of photos and unused apps to try to make space but obviosly this is a much bigger problem. I also created a smaller music folder on itunes to sync to but at present no music is selected for syncing due to the lack of available space.
i have 15Gb icloud account now also which is about half full.
Ive done a little research and heard similar tales but with much smaller other totals than this. Can you help?
i cant update my apps as i get a message saying i do not have enough available space.I had the same problem today and was able to resolve it without having to do a restore or reset. The problem had something to do with my mail accounts. The upgrade reset my mail settings, switching both my gmail and my .mac mail to "archive all mail". I went into the General Settings, disabled that setting, and resynced the phone. The "other" storage allottment dropped back down to less than a gig.
Before you restore or reset, I would try that first. -
So there I was, having set up my wife's new PC, but not yet getting a network printer (or a device to share what we already have). Obviously, the first thing I have to help her with has to be printed rom my PC.
In the past, I would have simply used a diskette, and later, a portable hard drive, and later still, a thumb drive. I might have even e-mailed it, which isn't exactly free because I pay for our domains. But very close.
Now, I just sign her up for a free DropBox account and it all happens in the background. No more sneakernet, and no need to share drives, (leaving things open to other problems). And no need for a NAS. (Not yet, anyway)
That is just one example of free stuff on the Internet. The amazing thing is that so much of what we use every day is basically free. Yes, we pay for Internet access. Even if we use a library PC, someone is paying for it. But just like network television, the amount of free things that can be paid for by advertising is just astounding. The thing is, I don't even see the advertising on Dropbox, which makes it all the more amazing to me.
The free Type Styles at Style4Type are more along the lines of easily understood free stuff. He entices you with really great free stuff, and if you really like it, for only a little money you can have the entire thing. Same with Video Copilot. Training for free and if you happen to buy something, even better.
The Creative Cow site is a different kind of free. The advertising is in your face. But, to be honest, I don't really even notice it much anymore except when it is something I might actually want to buy. But the quality of the training is remarkable.
The best kind of free with advertising in your face is Google, I think. The ads can be set to pretty much just be stuff I wish I could buy. Which may actually be worse but seems better. It is easier to ignore clothing ads than camera ads, or tripods, or big screen TVs. The things that Google does with maps, by letting me set up a location on my PC and then automatically have it appear on my phone so that the GPS can get me there? Wonderful. I use it almost every single day for work.
Remember back when Curt Wrigley was spending a fortune on bandwidth for his tutorials? Now YouTube is free and we don't even blink at putting up huge files, at 1080p using a high bitrate to maintain quality. For FREE!
I guess that every now and then, we all ought to take a moment and consider the advantages of advertising over paying outright for services. It really is a different world than the one I thought I was going to see when I grew up. My only real complaint is this: Where the heck is my flying car? I was promised a flying car back in 1959. I found the drawings I made when we cleaned out my mother's place after she passed. There were lots of flying cars. Detroit has had enough time. Where is my flying car???Free CC would require some hefty advertising to make it pay.
Would you use it for free if they insisted on watermarking your video or photos? Just a little watermark. Nothing intrusive?
Or, how about if you had to watch an advertisement, like on YouTube, every time you opened the app, or every 15 minutes of use?
I think I would rather just pay them. But then again, I pay for cable TV. Some people don't and perhaps they would be OK with the YouTubeization of CC?
But hey! That would mean they had a choice, and people are big on choice, right?
