Rc file configuration after new network connection

Hi all, last week we add a new network adapter to the netapp filers fas 2240 with HA Pair ( OnTap 8.2.3 P4) on e1a (10g). I do this on both filer. e0a: flags=0x9f4c867<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,MULTICAST,TCPCKSUM> mtu 1500

  • I just swapped old modem for new model. Says I'm connected but airport flashing amber and no connection. Do I have to configure a new network???

I just swapped out old modem for new model. Airport flashing amber. Wi-Fi connection good but airport not responding. Do I need to configure a new network connection? Change anything in airport utility?

    Welcome to the forum!
I'm a big fan of resetting in situations like this. Who knows what boxes you've ticked where...
Use the hard reset button with a paper clip on your Airport express. Hold it til the light starts blinking, then let it reset.
While it's resetting, go into your Network prefs and make sure you're set up to connect via Airport. Delete any references to your prior wireless network in the preferred networks section. Go into your keychain utility and delete any passwords there. (this is assuming you were using some form of wireless security).
After your AE has restarted, choose it from the Airport pull-down menu and run the Airport Setup Assistant utility. Once you've got it up and running, use Airport Admin utility to set security and passwords.
Seems drastic, but after all the poking around you've done, these steps should be pretty simple to perform. I'm guessing your original "Looking for PPPoE host" was a temporary problem with your IP. Maybe the ethernet cable was unplugged from AE?
    Good luck

  • Time Machine re-Backuping with new network connection!

    Hi,
I have an early 2011 MacBook Pro, running 10.8.5. I have a new 3TB Time Capsule I set up last Sept 25 (2013). Well, when I did that I backed up the MacBook to the Time Capsule via WiFi (about 100GB of data). And used WiFi ever since.
Well today I connected my MacBook to my local network via an Ethernet cable. Both WiFi and Ethernet conections are on my same local network. All was working well. Then after a couple hours I noticed the Time Machine was backing up, so I opened the Time Machine to see what it was doing and I see it was backup up 25GB of data!!! And it said "Oldest backup: September 25.2013"!!
I then noticed the size of the backup kept growing, "Backing up 25GB of 26.1GB" became "Backing up 32GB of 33.1GB"!! ....both numbers just kept growing! And using up space on my Time Capsule! I finally selected "Stop Backing Up".
I just restarted the backup, and the same thing is happening! Why is it doiong this? Why is Time Machine apperantly backing up all my files again to the same backup on the Time Capsule? Simply because I change the network connection?? Will it re-backup up another 100GB+ if I go back to using WiFi??
Why can't I use WiFi OR Ethernet with Time Machine??
I have turned off Time Machine on the MacBook until I can figure out whats going on here.
    Thanks,
    Jeff

I used "Verify Backups" from the TM menu, I saw it was verifing the backup so I went to do something else, it was going to take a while....when I came back it appears to have completed the Verify.....but there is no message as whether it was sucessful or not??? eeeee
PS How come spell checker doesnt work on these forums??

  • WinPE fails every time after "preparing network connections" message during Build & Capture task sequence

Sorry, I'm using SCCM 2012 but can't find a forum for that ANYWHERE, so I'm posting this here:
We're making our first attempt at OSD (build & capture) on an out-of-the box Dell Optiplex 9010 all-in-one. I've injected the NIC drivers found
here on Dell's Enterprise support blog into the boot image.
Using PXE boot, the machine starts up in WinPE when we deploy the task sequence, but every time it reaches the "preparing network connections" message in the splash screen, WinPE quits and the machine reboots.
I've hit F8 to get the command line while WinPE is booting, and from running ipconfig there, it looks like the machine takes a long time to pick up its IP address from DHCP, but it DOES pick up an IP address eventually which implies to me that the NIC driver
    is at least somewhat working.
See below for the wpeinit.log file from this machine. What am I doing wrong? What's that message about "no operational adapters found", expecially when I've verified that it does get an IP address (albeit after a short while)?

This turned out to work for me, too! It was nothing to do with network switch configuration, per se-- or at least I didn't have to change anything on my switch to fix it. Instead I tried fusiongroup's method of getting into the command-line before the WinPE
boot hit the "Preparing network connections" step, and I repeatedly ipconfig /renewed until suddenly the TS reached the next step of the sequence instead of failing out.
I also made this an "Available" sequence instead of a "Required" sequence, which I think buys you a little time in terms of offering a GUI in WinPE for the sequence, instead of just trying to run it.
One last thing: I was running this on a Workgroup machine that is not joined to our domain; I had followed another tutorial to get the client installed on it even though it's outside the domain. Prior to trying the command-line fix fusiongroup gave, I also
went into Assets and Compliance in Configuration Manager and right-clicked the machine in the list of devices, and found that I had to "Approve" it for management by SCCM. Don't know if that helped as well.

  • ITunes loses location of files every time a network connection is interrupted

I keep all my media files on a RAID attached to my router. I have a MacBook, and I don't want to fill up my boot drive with music files, nor do I want all my music on an external hard drive that has to be physically attached to my laptop (lack of portability, inconvenient to eject every time I want to take the laptop somewhere, hard drives fail, etc.).
The problem is that every so often, I'll get the message "network connection interrupted." I'm hardwired to the router at home via Ethernet, but for whatever reason, sometimes it just pops up the network connection interrupted message.
If I'm listening to iTunes when that happens, iTunes will stop playing the song, and an exclamation mark will appear to say "hey, I can't find that file where I thought it would be." What's far worse is that iTunes will then go on to try and play the next song, and the next, and the next, and so on down the line, placing an exclamation mark next to each one as it fails to find the volume where they're stored. In this way, entire albums or even entire artists will get "lost" to iTunes.
The next time I go to listen to a song that has the exclamation mark, if my network connection is established, I can double-click, and it will play just fine as it looks for the volume and finds it. Unfortunately, I have to double-click each and every song individually. I can't just click "play album," or even double-click one song and let it go on to the next. I have to go to every song that's "lost," double-click them one at a time, and then they'll play, and be usable by services that connect to iTunes, such as iMovie, or the Remote app on my iPhone.
Is there any way to prevent this situation from happening? Either by telling iTunes not to declare a song "lost" just because it can't find it one time, or to tell it to look in the last place it saw it, so that when the network connection is active, it will just go ahead and play the song?
As it is, it seems that my only choices are to keep all my music on my boot drive or an external plugged directly into the laptop, or to stop using iTunes for my music. Neither of those solutions would be positive outcomes for me.
My setup is a MacBook running 10.6.8, a 5th generation Airport Extreme running 7.6.1, and a Drobo RAID attached to the network.
    Thanks!

Thre's nothing in iTunes you can configure.  There are scripts that could be used to repair links broken in your scenario, but not ones I would want to have to run regularly.  I see a number of posts here where people have issues with iTunes having problem with NAS.  It seems to work find if you just attach an external drive via USB or Firewire but once you start getting fancy with NAS and RAID, problems arise.  You'll have to see if there's something you can do on the networking side to stop this, or you'll just have to quit iTuneswhen the network drops and restart.

  • InDesign Crashing on file open - Missing Font / Network Connection Lost

For starters I am using InDesign 5.5  When I open the file, either by clicking on the file through finder or or opening it through indesign I get the following error message:
The document "file name.indd" uses one or more fonts which are not currently available on your system.
I can't press either Find Font or OK - wheel spins then after 30 seconds or so and then I get the message:
The network connection was lost for the file "file name.indd", or the file was modified by another process.
Press OK. Nothing happens. Activity monitor says Indesign is using 100% of the cpu and not responding. The file is on my local machine and nothing has changed on it since the last time I opened it without issues 3 days ago. I'm not running anything that could be using the file or any of the images the file uses.  I have downloaded and installed the font that was missing and the error message hasn't changed.  Any ideas?

Try the option: save a copy for duplicate a file
    Hope,it works

  • SCCM PXE client rebooting after preparing network connections

    Hi,
I have setup a virtual SCCM 2007 SP2 lab to test OSD and PXE booting but when i boot a bare metal client it loads the respective boot image, gets to the Config Manager splash screen (WinPE 3), a message says "Windows is starting" followed by "Preparing Network
    Connections" then the client reboots.
I initially thought this to be a network driver missing in the boot image so i injected the correct driver but i still have the same problem.
I enabled command support on the boot image and ran an ipconfig/all to ensure the NIC was obtaining an IP address which it was and it lists the NIC as the correct model.
Can anyone offer any advice as to what the issue may be?

If you can connect temporarily to your Time Capsule with an Ethernet cable, AirPort Utility can probably see it and explain the problem.

  • Itunes ejects Ipod before syncing (after new Ipad connected)

I don't know if anyone can help me, but I recently added (synced) a new IPad to my Itunes on my Macbook.
Since then, when I try to sync my Ipod, Itunes either doesn't recognise my Ipod, or starts syncing bt then comes up with a message "disc not ejected properly" and then stops the sync entirely without anything being transferred to my Ipod.
    Any ideas?

trying to get back on topic re the original post -
i.e. I also have an iPod (classic 160) that now will not mount properly.  In both regular mode and in DISC MODE it shows up momentarily on my Apple desktop, but as soon as iTunes loads, the iPod ejects automatically from Finder.  So it never appears in iTunes, and therefore cannot be restored via iTunes; and the iPod icon on my desktop is inaccessible for the few seconds that it remains "mounted".
Tried another cable; switched from powered hub to the USB2 port direct from my MacBook Pro; reinstalled iTunes; checked Software Update.
Resetting the iPod via the usual hold Menu and Select works, but this has no effect on the issue  - it only resets my iPod settings so my menus get screwed up.
Switching to Disc Mode just renders the iPod itself inaccessible - it still doesn't mount so I can't check the drive contents to see if the files have been corrupted etc.
Any ideas?  The iPod still plays, so it's not like the hard drive is dead . . . but I can't sync it since it won't load in iTunes before it auto-ejects.
The problem became evident after iTunes stalled during iPod sync - wheel of death.  After trying to wait it out over an hour, I had to Force Quit.  I then hit restart, but the laptop stalled (blue screen of death, grey progress wheel of death) and I eventually had to force reboot using the power switch to shut down.  After that, the ipod wouldn't mount.
    TIA

  • Lightroom Files missing after new drive added

I recently filled up my old hard drive(F:) so I went out and bought a new and larger one. Without realizing it the new one was now the F drive and my old one is now the H drive. But Lightroom can not find all of my files in my old drive and I think it is because it is now located on the H drive. I don't want to loose the new photos I put on the new drive (now the F drive). What can I do? If I re-import the old drive will it recognize all my old files?
    Help?....

Do not re-import. If you do so, you'll lose all your work on those files.
In the Folders panel in Lightroom, right-click on the highest-level folder and choose Find missing folder from the context menu. In the dialogue box that comes up, navigate to that folder on your H: drive and select it. All the images in that folder and all its children, grand-children, etc. will be reconnected with your Lightroom catalogue. If you have more than one top-level folder, repeat with the others.

  • Releasing File resources after "new File()"

Hi, I'm experiencing the following problem. I'd like to list the properties of files in a directory, so I do something like
    File dir = new File(".");
    String[] files = dir.list();
    for(int i = 0; i < files.length; i++){
    System.out.println(new File(files).lastModified());
I gather these calls to "new File()" do hold some read locks to the files, when are these locks released? at GC time? is there anyway to force/guarantee the release?

I gather these calls to "new File()" do hold some
read locks to the files, No, they don't. File just has metada about the file--name, path, size, etc. It doesn't open the file or lock it or anything.
The ones you need to clean up are the Input/OutputStreams and Readers and Writers. Those have close() methods. There's also java.nio.channels.FileLock and associated classes mentioned in its docs.

You're not alone. Hopefully Apple will give us an update soon.

  • New network interfaces appear / networking fails

    Hi
I have a strange behaviour of my ethernet networking interface. Every time I restart the mac the network connection is lost (I usally keep it in sleep and have no problems for days and weeks).
As soon as I enter the network setup I get the message that a new network connection has been found, called "Ethernet (integrated) 1 (or 2, 7, 8 number increases)"
If I look at my network configuration I see a long list of "Ethernet interface ((null))" and in beetween some "Ethernet (integrated) 1)" and the like
It usally takes a couple of restarts of the network preferences and then the interface appears in the "network status" view and the mac connects to the router.
I don't have any external networking cards and the like, just the ibook and a standard router. The router also connects to our mac mini without any problems I it ran for at least half a year with the ibook before this occured.
I would be very thankfull for any help since this is very annoying.
BTW I don't move the computer around and it is connected with a network cable.
    Cheers
    Peter

    1st step, get Applejack...
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/19596
After installing, reboot holding down CMD+s, then when the prompt shows, type in...
    applejack AUTO
Then let it do all 5 of it's things.
At least it'll eliminate some questions if it doesn't fix it.
2nd step, trash, (or drag to the desktop), these files...
    /Users/nnnn/Library/Preferences/com.apple.internetconnect.plist
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/preferences.plist
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/NetworkInterfaces.plist
    /Library/Preferences/com.apple.networkConfig.plist
