RCA capture cable to Flash Media Live Encoder
Hi,
Last year I streamed a live event through a capture cable to Flash Media Encoder. Unfortunately I can't locate that cable and cannot remember the model we used. Can anyone advise on the best capture cable to use?
RCA to firewire or RCA to USB?
I have a startech SVID2USB2 cable (with female RCA to USB) which is giving me a blank or green preview window in Flash Media Encoder.
Would RCA to firewire work?
Regards Bruce
Hi Brusca,
I am not sure which capture card are you using. FMLE should work fine with Firewire input and with any capture card that take input from RCA cable. Input throgh USB is generally not preferable for very high quality input.

I'm looking for a capture device that is compatible with Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder. I bought elgato but it is not compatible. Anyone know?
This is just a shot in the dark....
Do you have all your devices hooked up (and on) when you launch FMLE? For example -- your camera or digitizer? When FMLE launches it will try to launch with the last known settings... including input devices. If it can't find these devices (they're not hooked up and on) it can crash, although in most situations it will simply show a default screen with default settings.
If you do have your equipment hooked up (and on) when you launch FMLE, try unplugging them and then launching FMLE so that it opens up in default configuration mode (no input devices selected; all default settings). Then uncheck the "preview" boxes for both your input and output preview windows. Close FMLE and then plug in your equipment (and turn it on) and relaunch FMLE. I offer this suggestion as FMLE can sometimes act funny when the preview windows are open with certain types of input devices. Don't worry -- you don't have to keep the preview windows off forever. If you can get FMLE to successfully launch with the preview windows off, then you can set your settings however you like and save the profile. Then quit and relaunch FMLE and then turn the preview windows back on and see if it works. If it does, great. Just be aware that making any settings changes while the preview windows are open could result in FMLE crashing. Again -- this only happens with some capture devices, such as certain Dazzle capture boxes.
If none of this works, you could always try to upgrade to FMLE 3.2 and see if that solves your problem. -

Why i can not open Video Capture Device Settings in Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder?
Hi! I've got a problem with Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder 3.2. Why i can not open Video Capture Device Settings? I'm clicking this button, but it doesn't appear, there is just a blinking of the camera's window. Please help me, i'm looking like a shining red pig! Need to change the light or contrast.
"The audio preview in FMLE indicates there IS audio being input"
How do you know this?
are you "Saving to file"? how is the audio in the saved file?

Audio problem on Flash Media Live Encoder
Hello,
Hope you are doing fine and having a great day. I will like to know how to capture audio from my laptop or desktop pc using the Flash Media Live Encoder. For example I'm running an automated radio software on the same laptop or desktop where I have running Flash Media Live Encoder, when I try to choose audio device it doesn't give me that option. Please need help in this issue.
Sincerely,
Jorge O.FMLE will not directly mux audio connections from different sources. You could try possibly using a "Virtual Audio Cable", which is a outside program. Search Google for it.
If you want to have more control over what you broadcast, I suggest using a 3rd party program such as Telestream Wirecast, or Xsplit..
Xsplit is a realtively cheap alternative to Wirecast which is pricey.
Check them Out.. -
I can't see the preview of my source on Flash media live encoder ... I'm using CamTwist on mac
Carolyn,
I think your TV might be a rear projection model, correct? Those types of TVs inherently have overscan built into them as part of their optical design. The TV should have some picture SIZE settings that affect how much overscan is present, and some settings may even get rid of it altogether with the result there might be a small black border instead.
Don't worry about changing TV settings. Settings like this are tied to a specific input. So if you make these types of changes while the TV is passing the mini's video through to the screen, those changes will only apply to the mini. When you switch to other inputs, like a cable box, etc., the old settings should still be intact and unchanged. -

Did you ever get this to work? I have been using, with a qualified degree of success, taking the HDMI output from a Canon Vixia HV30, to an AverMedia Game Boradcaster C127 to FMLE.
The qualification is: When the card is installed on an ITX board (GigaByte Z-77), in the single PCI-e slot, yes. In fact, I'm using it weekly now on my show.
Now, if I put the same card on an Asus Z77 Maxiumus Gene board, with or without an installed video card (GTX 660), and regardless of the positioning of the C127 in the first long PCI-e slot and the GTX 660 in the next one over, or pin the PCI-4 slot, I get "No Signal AverMedia" on the screen. Then I put it back on the ITX board (I5-2300 on there and 8GB RAM, using HDMI or DVI vidoe for the local monitor), the card then works properly.
I made sure I had the DirectShow codecs installed...and it didn't work on the larger board (plan was to be able to handle two capture cards like this in one "box" and still have a GPU in the main slot to help processing.
Any feedback appreciated. -
Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder 3.1 crashes at launch!
Hi there,
Accidently asked this question in the flash area--oops. Here it is, in the correct section now. :-)
I have used this Encoder extensively on my PC over the past couple of years and have never had any problems. I am thinking that an update on some other device might have stealth updated on me and is now causing the Encoder to fail? I have tried deleting and removing the software then re-installing. I also tracked down the startup xml file I believe it was and deleted that as well. Also have rebooted the computer multiple times and aside from throwing my laptop through a window I am lost.
Help!

Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder 3 and Dazzle 170
Hi, I have a trouble.
I'm working with: Vista Home Premium 32 Bit, Dazzle DVC 179 Rev.1.2, PCLEUSB2, Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder 3. I work with Firewire 1394 with Sony Pd100 Camcorder, and and Encoder 3 sounds well (PAL), with USB cam Encoder 3 sounds well (PAL), when I choice Dazzle from the menù, Encoder 3 tell to me: VIDEO FORMAT NOT SUPPORTED - Video format provided by video capture device is not supported by this application. (PAL or NTSC or SECAM).
What can I do for work with this device?
Thanks in advance
VittorioFMLE will work with all devices which have direct show based drivers and give data in raw format. Here is a list of devices which have been tested and certified with FMLE - http://www.adobe.com/support/documentation/en/flashmediaencoder/FMLE_DeviceMatrix3.0.pdf

Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder 3 - Video Hardware Acceleration Warning
I have been looking for an answer for this error for a few days without any luck.
I just loaded the Adobe Free Encoder 3 and the Flash Media Server (Free Version) on a Dell PowerEdge 1950 running Windows 2003 server standard edition with Service Pack 2. The computer has an Intel Pentium III Xeon 2.66GHz Quad core processor with 4GB RAM. I am using an Osprey 240 video capture card.
The computer was previously running Windows Media Encoder and it was working fine, but I needed to upgrade to a flash stream.
Whenever I start the Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder I get the following error:
"The video card's hardware acceleration level is set too low. Open the Display Properties, Settings tab and click Advanced, then select the Troubleshoot tab and increase the Hardware acceleration setting. Then restart the application, etc...
I did as instructed and it did not work. I also tried changing the display settings to lower and higher resolutions. I also updated the video card to the latest drivers. I double checked the hardware requirements. http://www.adobe.com/products/flashmediaserver/flashmediaencoder/systemreqs/ and it looks like I'm ok.
I also checked the approved hardware list http://www.adobe.com/support/documentation/en/flashmediaencoder/FMLE_DeviceMatrix3.0.pdf.
The Osprey 240 is not listed, but that seems to be working fine.
I'm thinking that the internal video card that I have may not be compatible with the Adobe Encoder. The video card that I have is an ATI ES1000 embedded video that has only 16MB of RAM.
I have the latest version of DirectX - I ran DxDiag and it shows that I'm running DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904), Under the Display tab it says that the DirectDraw Acceleration, Direct3D Acceleration and AGP Acceleration are not available.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Flash Media Live Encoder 3 Audio Input Level Resets (XP)
I am using Flash Media Live Encoder 3 on a Windows XP computer, with an Ospery-100 capture card for video and a generic sound card line in for audio input. It works fine, except for every time I launch the encoder or even just stop and start encoding (i.e. without closing the application), it resets the line in audio level of my sound card to maximum--not good, as the appropriate setting is actually the minimum. If I don't remember to open the Windows mixer and turn it back down, the audio clips like crazy. No other application I use changes the input leve of my sound card in this way. What is happening here? Any ideas? Any solutions? Thanks.
Have you checked volume slider position in FMLE? If it is set at 100% it would increase the audio level of sound card. Drag slider to lower value to reduce the volume level.

Hi,
Right now we have beeing using an old DV tape based camera connected to Flash Media Live Encoder via FireWire for live streaming.
We are looking at getting either an Sony AX2000 or HXR-NX5U camera as they are flash based. Unfortunately, they don't have FireWire ports.I image that I would not be able to stream via USB, but I'm not sure if anyone is familar with either of these cameras.
Does anyone know of any posisble way (ideally without new equipment) that this would work?
Ports on the HXR-NX5U
Audio Out RCA type (CH-1, CH-2)
Component Out RCA type (x3) via A/V multi connector
Composite Video Out RCA type (x1)
S-Video Out N/A (optional VMC-15FS is required.)
SDI Out BNC (x1)
HD-SDI/SD-SDI selectable
USB Mini-B (x1)
Thank you for your help!Hi there,
You may be able to take the RCA connection out of the new camera and put it in to your old DV camera if it has the avaliable inputs?
Also, USB is sometimes used for video so I woul have a look around for some info about it with your camera.
failing that your best bet would be to either buy a cheap Aanlog to Digital Concerter (ADC) that takes in composite and firewire on the RCAs. this woul mean that you are using the lowest quality and resolution that is avaliabe to you though!
You could stump up of an SDI or HDSDI input from the likes of AJA or Blackmagic. this would also give you the digitised XLR audio inputs
Hope this helps!

Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder (FMLE)
Not sure if this is correct place to ask question for 'Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder (FMLE)'.
I am using EXE file installed on my PC.
Need to ask if you have any online solution where I don't need to download and install exe file on my PC RATHER everything is web based and I can configure web based Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder (FMLE).
ThanksWhat's the brand/model of HD IP Cam? Please check whether HD IP Cam use Direct Show or not? as FMLE looks for a "Microsoft DirectShow compatible video capture device".

How can I install Adobe Flash Media live encoder on a G5 power pc?
How can I install Adobe Flash Media live encoder on a G5 power pc?
Unfortunately, you can't. When FMLE was initially released in 2007, Apple had already transitioned to using Intel processors in their computers. Your PowerPC processor isn't compatible with software written for an Intel processor. From Adobe's website, the (5 year-old) FMLE v. 3.2 has these system hardware requirements for the Apple platform:
• 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo or faster processor
• Mac OS X v10.5.6
• 1GB of RAM
• 50MB of available hard-disk space (excludes archived FLV and F4V files)
• 1024x768 screen resolution
• QuickTime compatible audio/video capture devices
• QuickTime 7 software or later
