RCA hook-up to MBP

I have a new digital camera that was given to me as a wedding present and it is an 8mm cassette digital video camera. I recently bought my MBP and I am trying to hook it up to my mac. The only problem it hooks up through Composite Video. One RCA for video and one RCA for audio. I had some software for my PC that was called DVDDirectX. I bought it at wal-mart and it allowed me to hook up to my PC through USB. Now to the question. What can I get for my Mac to hook my video Camera up? Thanks for your Help.

You can use the ADS Tech Pyro A/V Link
http://www.adstech.com/products/API-558-EFS/intro/API-558_intro.asp?pid=API-558- EFS
I got one off of ebay.
It has an S-video input, RCA inputs, RCA output, s-video output, component in/out ports.
It connects to you mac with FW400.
Worked great with iMovie, but ***** with final cut pro.

  • Hooking up my mbp to my tv?

I want to hook up my tv from my macbook pro. But i was wondering if i could shut my laptops screen and still have my computer go to my tv. thanks

Yes, with an external keyboard and mouse (called clamshell mode) or with a hack like InsomniaX.

  • Hooking up MBP to home theater receiver: Surround sound for games?

I'm looking for a way to hook up my MBP to my home theater receiver to play games in surround sound. From what I've read, it sounds like the digital optical out will only provide 5.1 sound for DVDs, not games.
I have also read about the Griffin Firewave which supposedly provides 5.1 sound from the firewire port...however, it looks like there are five separate outputs from that device (center, and both front and rear speakers), and my receiver's inputs are not arranged in this way, so I don't think this will work for my setup.
Anyone know of a way to do this successfully? It's looking like it's not possible, but wanted to see if there were any solutions I was missing. Thanks!

    Hi,
I dj at a bar and hook up to their HDMI connection which allows me to play music videos on their tv screens, and when I hook up my MBP mid 2012 15'' I am getting a fuzzy screen on the their flatscreen.... I am able to fix it when I mess around with the screen resolution on my macbook... it only happens there, and it works fine at home. I just curious to see if anyone has ran into this issue, and know why it is doing this... I have attached a link with a photo.

  • Moving from Cinema Display to MBP screen.

The iTunes window when I hook up my MBP to my Cinema Display is full screen. When I use my MBP out and about the iTunes window is bigger then the screen and i can't get down to the resize handle and other items sited at the bottom of the screen.
How can I stop this happening an/or resize the iTunes window other than by using the resize handle?

  • How To Get Sound To Play Out From MBP Onto HDTV?

I hooked up my MBP to my HDTV last night using the DVI - HDMI cable and had no issues with picture.
This is the model of HDTV I have: http://www.hitachidigitalmedia.com/product_techspec.do?pt=17&pg=69&proid=593
I then connected plugged in a phono L+R to 3.5mm Jack Audio Cable from the headphone port on my Mac to the PC Audio Input on the TV. Nada sound.
Then tried connecting to the Audio Input points on the TV. Still nothing.
The only Audio sockets my HDTV has are:
    Audio Input •
    PC Audio Input •
    Audio Line Out •
    Headphone Socket •
    Component Audio
so don't think I can use TOSLINK either.
Can anyone help? Spent last night with picture off the HDTV but sound off a set of external Creative speakers hooked up to the MBP.
    Thank You,
    Arivind Abraham

I think that the audio cable from the MBP to the audio inputs on the TV would have worked if you had gone to System Preferences -> Sound -> Output and assigned the output there. YMMV

  • Probs connecting 13"MBP to HDTV via Receiver

    Hi guys,
I tried to hook up my MBP to my HDTV via my Onkyo receiver using the Mini Displyport-HDMI cable.I got a weird colour screen on my MBP and then it went blank, with no picture on either the HDTV or the MBP.
I then tried connecting directly to the HDTV using the same cable and it worked fine.
Has anyone any ideas as to why i'm having problems connecting through the receiver?
    Cheers,
    Gary

The receiver isn't a monitor, so it doesn't look like a monitor to the computer, and apparently it isn't "transparent" enough to let the computer see through it to your monitor or TV set.
You may want to connect the computer's video signal directly to the TV and use the receiver only for the audio, via a separate audio cable from the computer's headphone port.

  • MBP with external LCD TV in dual display mode

    I’ve got MacBook Pro 15" 2.O 2GBRAM with Mac OS X (10.4.10) .
I know there is a way to hook up my MBP to my LCD TV (Sony 32” that support PC input). I’d like to use it in dual mode with “Apple Logic Pro” so that mixer setting will be on LCD TV and arrangement window will be on MBP.
I know this is possible with desktop units that have dual monitors but I wasn’t sure if I could do it with MBP(???)
    Any thoughts or suggestions?
    Thanks

It'll work exactly the same way as it does on a desktop.

  • IMac as an external monitor for my MBP

Does anyone know if it is possible or perhaps ho to use my old iMac G4 as an external display? Can i just hook my new MBP via the mini dvi and use it as a slave?

A common question here; but there is no easy way to do this. I've not even see a difficult way documented.
The good news is that LCD Panels are dirt cheap nowadays (19" widescreen LCDs for <$200)<p>

  • Attaching MBP to a crt HDTV

I'll be getting a CRT HDTV soon and i was wondering if the picture, when hooking up the MBP, is as good as a LCD tv? I was wondering because i know if you try to hook up a computer to a non-HDTV CRT the picture is crap. I'll be using a DVI to HDMI cable. thanks

The output looks great on my LCD TV.
But the reason people pick LCDs is that they are light weight, thin, and low power. Nobody picks an LCD because of the superior image quality. While heavy, thick, and power hungry, a CRT should be bright and beautiful. Enjoy it.

  • How do I connect the MBP?

    Hey guys,
I'm new to this so bear with me. I wanna connect my MacBook Pro to a Bose system through the optical digital audio on the MBP. How would i go about doing this? Do I need extra cables? If so, which ones?
this is the Bose system I have at home

lol....is it even possible to hook up the MBP to this?
any help would be greatly appreciated
    thanks

From the technical specs it looks like you should be able to use the optical inputs. You need to buy an optical input cable. You can buy an one from Apple here: Belkin PureAV Digital Optical Audio Cable with Mini-Toslink Adapter
After that, you just plug it in and make sure that the Sound panel on System Preferences is set to Line Out. It will say Internal Speakers unless you have a cable plugged into the audio out line.

  • Front Row Movies When Hooked Up to Projector

    Hello-
I hooked up my MBP to a projector to rehearse a presentation. Out of curiosity, I tried front row and went through the following...
    -Photos: Worked Great
    -Music: Worked Great
    -Podcasts: Great
-Movies/Vid Podcasts: Sound, but NO video. I removed the cable and the video displayed on the screen, hooked up the cable again and it played through the projector.
Is this a known error? Thanks.
    John

Happens all the time. Hope you find a solution. Now mark the topic and good computing.

  • IChat opens when hooked up to external HDD

When I hook up my MBP to a 1TB LaCie external hard disk, iChat opens of its own accord. It was not like this before. Why?

Open the iChat preferences, choose the Audio/Video tab, and turn off the option to automatically open iChat.

  • Does the MBP Late 2006 output 1080p @ 24 Hz?

I'm planning to hook up my MBP Late 2006 model to a Panasonic plasmascreen.
Since the tv supports 1080p/24p Im wondering if the MBP can output 1080p @ 24 Hz? Im planning to use a DVI-I -> HDMI cable.

I just read that DVI does not support Deep Color:
    (From Wikipedia)
Features specific to HDMI (such as remote-control, audio transport, xvYCC, and deep-color) are not usable in devices that only support DVI signalling. However, many devices can output HDMI over a DVI output (e.g., ATI 3000-series and NVIDIA GTX 200-series video cards),[2] and some multimedia displays may accept HDMI (including audio) over a DVI input. In general, exact capabilities vary from product to product.
Can the MBP output HDMI over the DVI output?
