RCA input connector?

On Sun Ray 1, 100, 150 models, there is an RCA connector on the rear for video input. However, I can't find much documentation on how to use this. The only application that I've been able to find that says it can work with this input is SunForum (a videoconferencing application), which is no longer available on Sun's website. Is there a simple "Show me the input" application, or an interface that can be used? I have also heard that JMF has a way of interfacing, but I don't know how to tell it to look there. Also, I don't want to have to write my own program to use the video in. Please advise.

Yes, there is a sample application called "vit" that will allow this. I believe it was never widely released but someone internal to Sun should be able to track it down for you.
It certainly works.

  • What is the best way to connect a Iphone 6 to a RCA input TV?

Hello, hopefully someone can help me out. What would be the best way to connect a Iphone 6 to a TV that only has a RCA input? Thanks for the help.

don't believe you can RCA is just a connector both composite and component use RCA connectors both are analog and only component support 1080i composite only support 480i or something
apple used to have pin30 -> both composite and component but with airplay mirror those went absolete

  • Connecting Mac Mini through RCA inputs

Is it possible to connect a Mac Mini to a television with RCA inputs? If so, how would one go about doing that?

+The Apple DVI to Video Adapter was designed to allow Mac Pro (with ATI X1900 XT), MacBook Pro, Mac mini and Power Mac G5 users to connect the DVI port to an S-video or Composite video device such as TVs, VCRs or overhead projectors with S-Video or RCA (Composite) connectors. The Apple DVI to Video Adapter is designed to work with the DVI port on the Mac Pro (with ATI X1900 XT) MacBook Pro, Mac mini and Power Mac G5 systems only.+
+Use a separate DVI to VGA Adapter for VGA video out for Mac Pro, MacBook Pro, Mac mini or Power Mac G5 (included with all Mac Pro, MacBook Pro, Mac mini or Power Mac G5 systems or available for order as a standalone kit).+

  • Dv6-LT069av has a input connector for mic or other input devices, to connect a LP player

Pavillion dv6 has an input connector for mic or other input devices next to headphones connector on left side, to connect a LP player or other device thru the mic connector, what kind of cable is required? I used an RCA to male cord but no input on the notebook. And how to make it record from that mic input connector? Any settings need to be changed in Win7 to make it work? Thanks in advance.

    Get one of these ...

Connect the RF (Coax) output of the STB to the Coax-in on the modulator
Connect the Coax-out on the modulator to the TV
Connect the Video-out and Audio-out RCA jacks on the DVD/VCR to the Video-in and Audio-in on the modulator.
The STB signal will flow thru the modulator and allow you to watch TV as normal.
When you turn the DVD/VCR on, the modulator will sense the signal coming from the device and override the signal and inject it onto the coax (converting it to RF first) so that it shows up on the TV instead of the STB output.   When you're done and turn the DVD/VCR off, the signal from the STB will automatically return to the TV.

makes sense and you can use other features of Apple TV ( wouldn't rush out this week to get one )

  • How to attach to a mono RCA input

I would like to plug my iPod into an amplifier that has only one mono RCA input. Do I use a mono miniplug for the iPod? Or a "backwards" RCA Y adapter to merge both channels into one male plug?

The correct way to merge the two signals is to feed them both thru a resistance thatu is equal to their expected impedance, probably 16-32 ohms. Then feed this point to your mono input. It should also be similarly matched. This all creates loss but you cannot properly match them any other way, other than adding active amplification if your loss is too great.
Or you can use the brute force method as already suggested. The difference will be added noise and/or altered freq response curve but if you do not require optimum fidelity then it likely won't make any difference to you.
The component manufacturers have usually already built stuff to be fool proof as they know what kind of real world situations they will have to tolerate.

  • Wanting to connect an older G4 Powerbook running OS 10.4.11 to a Marantz SR4023 receiver amplifier with only RCA inputs to play iTunes through it on stereo speakers. Can anyone advise how to do this?

Wanting to connect an older G4 Powerbook running OS 10.4.11 to a Marantz SR4023 receiver amplifier with only RCA inputs to play iTunes through it on stereo speakers. Can anyone advise how to do this? Not tech savvy at all here, and will be happy with a simple hard wired connection.  The Powerbook is old, and I no longer want to use it for anything but connecting iTunes radio, and my iTunes library to my stereo system.

    Hi,
There were many PowerBook G4 models (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3065) with different ports (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2369).
If necessary, a manual can be found here:
    http://support.apple.com/manuals/#PowerBook%20G4
Generally speaking, the output of a headphone port can often be used for the connection to an amplifier. You would need an appropriate cable (typically, 3.5 mm stereo plug to two RCA plugs). Choose a suitable amplifier input (high level). Do verify the allowed amplifier input voltage levels and the impedance before you connect.

  • Connect MacBook 13inch Aluminum (Late 2008) to RCA input on conventional TV

Him does anyone know if I can use the Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter and the Apple DVI to Video Adapter to connect my Macbook to a conventional TV that only has RCA video inputs?
    Thanks!

Very interesting discussion here on it:

seems the cheapest option is mini displayport to vga, then using a box of tricks to output composite (RCA phone) and s-video

  • HT3382 Is it possible to connect MacbookPro display to a TV video (RCA) input?

I would like, if possible, to connect the display image of my MacbookPro (15" late 2008) to a TV which has a video input port (yellow RCA), and associated stereo audio line input ports.  Is there any adaptor or system that will allow this?
    Sam

For video, you need two items. A Mini DisplayPort to VGA adaptor, such as
    <http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB572Z/A>
and a VGA to composite video adaptor, such as
    <http://www.amazon.com/PC-To-TV-Video-Converter/dp/B001CJOLBW>
For audio, you'll need a 3.5mm jack to RCA stereo cable.
(Note, the links are just examples of the type of device you need -- I don't know how well those particular ones work.)

  • Input connector damaged

The input slot at the bottom of my iPod mini has been damaged by inserting the wrong connector. Can this connector on the iPod be replaced without replacing the motherboard?
    Dell   Windows XP Pro

I believe that the replacement cost will be the same if you check with apple. Likely they would not repair it, instead they will replace yours with a refurbished.
Consider setting up a mail-in repair for your iPod http://depot.info.apple.com/ipod/
Or visit your local Apple Retail Store http://www.apple.com/retail/
In case your iPod is no longer covered by the warranty and you want to find a second repairing company, you can try iPodResQ at your own risk

    I have a similar problem.
I have connected my newly purchased Apple TV to my Denon-790 7.1 AV Receiver. It plays just fine on "Zone 1", which is 5.1 surround, but it will not play sound through "Zone 2". The Denon website says that the audio inputs for Zone 2 must be analogue.
Here is my problem: I bought the Apple TV SPECIFICALLY to play digital radio / iTunes on Zone 2, so my wife can listen to music whilst at the other end of the house. If I don't solve the problem, she will accuse me of once again spending money on fancy technology, when a radio will do just as well!

  • HP Pavillion HPE-510f, Windows 7, 64 bit with front panel A/V RCA inputs

When i connect devices thru the AV inputs on the front panel, I cannot find an application that recognizes the device. For example, JVC Camcorder so i can playback or just playing music thru these inputs.  Is there  a driver that needs installling?

    Hi Hodgewaco,
As indicated in the title, the front A/V RCA and s-video are input ports.  To use those ports with your videocam you are going to need a capture program.  ROXIO has commercial programs that should work with those input ports but check with ROXIO Sales.  Usually ROXIO has a 30 trial period so if you are not satisfied the your can get a refund.  Be sure to inform ROXIO about the exact model of camera that you are using, the output connection type and the format of the video stream.
