Rca to 3.5mm splitter

So, I use a splitter to record audio coming from my xbox. it's supposed to go into the microphone jack, but my computer does not have one. So i plugged it into the headphone jack. The macbook pro detected it as a headphone device, and was outputting sound through it. How can i get it to behave like a microphone?

On a 2012 MBP audio input must be done via USB.  You will need to get a compatible cable.

  • Any way to get audio out via RCA or 3.5mm jack?

I am interest in using AppleTV in a section of a fitness studio that I own.
The room has a pro audio A/V system with sound inputs via Bluetook, RCA or 3.5mm earphone jack.  The 2 TV monitors are daisy-chained and receive inputs via HDMI.
However, if I want to have the audio portion of an AppleTV program played through the sound system, I need to feed audio into it using one of the inputs noted above.  This isn't a problem with a Mac or iPad because I can use both HDMI and 3.5mm jacks to accomplish the goal.  I could just turn up the TVs, but that isn't a great sound option given the setting and the other equipment.
Is there any way to jury-rig an audio output that works?
Might I be better off using a sling box to an iPad or a Macbook?  I am already paying for cable TV as part of my Xfinity plan.
    Thanks,
    Scott

Something like this Digital Audio To Analog Audio Converter ... from Amazon will do the trick.
Search for audio digital to analog converter for other options.

  • Is there a 3.5mm plug cable to separate the audio and mic?

Then I can use is by the Ordinary headset

well I'm actually the Ryan who's email is xxxx'd out. Guess they don't like showing people a way to save a few dollars on some car mounts for their ipod. Yet another reason why I don't have an ipod. Cripple the players and cripple the forums. Though I still bought my mom an ipod
Anyway...after poking around, wouldn't an easy solution be to just buy the AV Composite cable, use the stereo RCA plugs for the input on the in dash radio (can buy a $3 RCA to 3.5mm adapter if needed) and use the USB side to charge via a USB car charger? Granted, it's not the nice hardwired solution (my prefrence), but for most who just want plug and play, it's a simple solution for line out sound quality and charging while in the car.
The only downside is I don't see a cheap one anywhere. You'd think some third party company would've made one by now. They make everything else cheaper. But the cable would serve double duty if you needed it elsewhere. PLUS, if you had an indash LCD screen, you could use the video out on it as well. Screw the DVD player, just use your ipod video/touch/iphone as the video player in your car. Some indash players have video in as well.
Regardless, you have options to get line out sound quality. If you don't need to charge, docking port av cables are about $6 on ebay. Just do a search of "ipod av composite cable". It'll come up along with the headphone jack ones.
Another plus going the USB route is why not go that route with everything you have. You can hard wire in a usb hub, have it hidden behind the dash and just run a usb cable for your particular device to it. Much smaller than 12v outlets and you can charge as many cables you can fit into the hub. Almost everything has a USB cable for it nowadays.

  • Is it possible to get both a 3,5mm headphone jack and a 3,5mm microphone jack?

    Hey!
I recently bought a headset for my 2012 MacBook Air, and it came with two cables. One for sound (green) and one for the microphone (pink). The MBA has only got one 3,5mm jack though, so i was just wondering if its possible to use a normal 3,5mm splitter to get both? If so, can i just use a cheap one from DealExtreme?
    Thanks :)

I would not try it, the device was not designed for this and it could destroy the electronics.

  • RECORDING VINYL Ve

Below is a guide for recording vinyl or stereo cassettes using an Audigy soundcard.
    SETUP
. To record a cassette using an Audigy with a front panel or an external box it is simply a matter of connecting the red and white RCA cables of the cassette player or amplifier into the corresponding colored jacks on the Audigy. These jacks will be labeled variously as Line In or 2 or Aux In or 2.
If you are using a basic internal Audigy you need a stereo 3.5mm mini jack to 2 female RCA cable, alternati'vely, you can plug a 3.5mm splitter into the card and the use 2 mono 3.5mm mini jack to female RCA cables. In both cases you then connect the cassette player or amplifier RCA cables into the female ends attached to the sound card.
    2. To record vinyl the connections are the same as for cassettes. The important difference is that 99% of turntables need to be connected to a pre amplifier or intergrated amplifier and not directly to the Audigy. This is despite the fact the turntable also uses RCA outputs. The colors will be white and black or white and green but not red and white. Turntable output is from 0.2% to 2% (depending on cartridge type) of the power needed to make a decent recording.
The Audigy is sensiti've enough to process a direct connection between turntable and card but the results are not good, though impressi've.
    3. To record in wave side of an LP requires - .5 gigabytes of hard dri've space so make sure you have enough room.
    4. To setup recording and "monitoring" go to the mixer and select the appropriate source to hear what you are recording in the blue section and select the appropriate source to record using the red slider. If you are plugged into the card directly (at the back of the PC) the source will be Line In and if you are plugged in elsewhere the source will be labeled, eg Aux In or 2 Line In 2 or 3.
    USING CREATIVE BUNDLED SOFTWARE
    5. Go to the player view and using the red down arrow next to the REC button select Show Recording Status.
    6. Go back to the red down arrow and select Show Recording Format. There are a few options here which you need to consider. The most important consideration is whether you wish to perform post recording editing. For example, if you want to record the entire side of an LP you will need to edit the sound file to split the file into smaller song files. If you have scratches on the LP you will likely also want to edit the song. If you want to edit anything record in Stereo Wave.
For bitrate type choose constant and for quality choose 320.
If you wish to record song by song and do not wish to edit you can record in the other formats.
    7. The player does provide very basic VU meters and an automatic recording volume control (ARVL). You can set recording volume automatically using ARVL or manually using the VU meters and volume slider. If you do not know the relationship between VU meters and sound quality use ARVL.
    EDITING
There are 2 wave editors in the Creative bundle, Creative Wave Editor and WaveLab Lite. WaveLab is better.
    8. If you have recorded an entire side of a cassette or LP you likely want to break it down into its component songs. To achieve this just load the file into WaveLab and cut and paste each track into a separate file. A horizontal line represents silence and is easy to use visually and you also have transport control for additional control.
    9. After separating each track into a separate file there are some other editing options in WaveLab which are worth using. These include the ability to add 2 seconds silence at the start of each track, the ability to balance channels if your stylus was not perfectly balanced and the ability to reset the volume level for the recording.
    0. You can also edit out cracks resulting from scratches in the LP manually. You can do this by either lowering the volume at the point of the scratch or by deleting those parts of the file where the scratch occurs. Deleting is probably preferable and is almost undetectable if done well. Its a fiddly job though.
. After editing use Creative Audio Converter to convert the wave file to your preferrred format.
    USING NON BUNDLED SOFTWARE
There a number of software packages you can use but for the purpose of recording vinyl, one of the easiest to use is Audio Cleaning Lab although the sample rate is limited to 48KHz, although 24 bit and 320kbps is supported.
This software allows you to clean cracks and hisses etc but you will still need to remove some scratches manually using an editor. The good thing is that once that is done you have some "renastering" utilities that restore the sparkle lost during the cleaning process.Message Edited by shag on 09-2-2005 05:27 PM

As a clarification, for?turntable connection,?you'll need a pre-amplifier with RIAA stage included. If you connect the turntable w/o RIAA stage then the RIAA "equalization" needs to be done? in some point by using software EQ (or hardware EQ). By connecting your turntable w/o RIAA stage you?get bassless and bright recordings (check the RIAA link below). There are plenty of separate pre-amps w/ RIAA stages available so?you can get one of those or?you could get some audio device as like Presonus Inspire, EMU 66/820, X-Fi Elite, etc. which do have this stage integrated. You?can?even find some software based solutions for this needed EQ (just search here as for an example and you'll find some presets for EQ (VST/DX) plugins). • Stanton T92 Turntable Digital Output to iMac connection

    Hi,
I have a Stanton T92 Turntable that I would like to connect to my iMac (Mid-2011 Edition) so that I can listen to some records.
My turntable has a coaxle digital output as seen here:
    http://cachepe.zzounds.com/media/quality,85/t92_back-f53efc70364b6f0face720a8feb e6d4c.jpg
I am aware that I need an optical mini-plug for the back of my iMac such as this:
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002JFN1A/ref=gno_cart_title_3
but I am confused on which converter I need to connect to my turntable.
I need to buy either a

    or
Optical to Coaxial Digital Audio Converter
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002GV876/ref=gno_cart_title_1
Which one is the correct one?
Also, do I plug the toslink mini-plug into the output headphone jack and then configure the sound settings?
    Thanks in advance!

The other option:  Could I totally by-pass the digital input/output and just connect a Y-cable splitter from turn turntable to the iMac?

Is there a switch system or someway to have my pc control both sound system and just switch between pc and home theatre? Our original home theatre just died.

First of all, what do you mean by plug in one set of speakers on your PC? if am not mistaken the card has 3 plugs for a default 5. surround sound. • At a loss: Audigy2 ZS Platinum & Klipsch DD5.1 connection prob

I have read many forums, posts, etc. related to SPDIF, optical and digital out connection between Audigy2 ZS Platinum and Klipsch DD5. decoder and can't find a solution to my problem. I would like to play MP3's stereo x2 or 5. through my DD5. connected to Klipsch Promedia 5. speakers, all I can get is front L and R with nothing coming from the rear speaker. I have tried each of the three digital outputs, I have set SPDIF passthrough, digital output only, 5. as well as 2/2. speaker settings, and have toggled Enable CMSS 3D in the EAX console, also have Prologic enabled on the DD5. with no success. Does anyone have any suggestions? When the Promedia's are connected to the analog connections on the Audigy2 they sound great, MP3's through all speakers with CMSS 3D enabled, but I am using the Klipsch DD5. connected to my T.V., DVD etc. as my home theatre and would like to connect my PC this way as well. I have tried 3.5mm splitter on the back of the speakers and connected to the Audigy2 as well as the DD5. but this seems to cause a significant hum, interference etc. Any ideas?

    Saku746,
What you are experiencing is normal for Digital connection such as coaxial/optical. You can get more information from the article at knowledgebase.
    http://us.creative.com/support/kb/article.asp?l=2&sid=5764
Check your speaker whether it support Dolby Pro Logic II or other upmix matrix. If it does, then you can enable that to provide matrix of 5. to the speaker.

  • IPhone to speaker-wire speakers.

I'm not really a 'speaker guy' I know how to take two pieces of wire and plug my big speakers into the standard dvd surround sound player and all that. But I had a rather interesting idea today that I am sure someone else has thought of before.
I have to extra speakers, they are old wooden ones that still play beautifully and are mounted on the walls in my bedroom with speaker wire running from below them to behind my tv. They are not hooked up to anything, what I was wondering how to do is hook these up to the iPhone Dock.
Is there a product made by bestbuy or radio shack that has the left channel and right channel things like on my speakers with the red and black wire that go into the two spring loaded parts and THEN a headphone jack behind it? This would be really convenient but I'm just not sure how to put this entire post into a google search So I came here.
    Thanks,
    -Brandon

You can't run unpowered speakers from the iphone, or an ipod, etc. Things like computer speakers are powered, and accept a line level input from a source device. Your wooden speakers need an amplifier that takes the iphone as its source. So if you can hook them up to a receiver, you can run your iphone into the receiver with a standard stereo to 3.5mm splitter, into the AUX or another input on the receiver. If not, you'll have to pick up an amplifier capable of driving those speakers.

  • Speaker Wire

I just bought the 7.1 creative s750 speaker system, and I was wondering if anyone knows any kind of speaker wire I could use that is a little higher performance than the speaker wire that comes with the system? I have looked around and I can't find speaker connections with one end an RCA connection, and the other end a positive, negative end to plug into the back of the speakers. If anyone knows where I could find that type of speaker wire that is hire end, I would really appreciate it.

You could plug them into the 3.5mm speaker output on the back of the computer.
Yes, there are speaker wire to RCA and then RCA to 3.5mm headphone plug cables/connectors.
But that wouldn't really be good as the power otuput of the computer (500-600 mWatts?) would not be enough to power the speakers to an acceptable level (probably 1 watt minimum).

  • 80g video wont play through tv at all

i know this seems like an age old question...but considering im fairly tech savvy ive been puzzled as to why my ipod wont play music through my tv. i have a standard Y cable that works just fine when connected to my home theatre but will not play through my tv...at all, not just video. no music or anything. anyone know why?

Er, by Y cable, you mean a standard RCA to 3.5mm cable?
If yes, you'll need to plug each plug into the video (yellow) port and see which one carries the video signal. Apple switched around the signals for each cable, I think. Also, make sure the iPod is set to NTSC output in the Video settings screen.

  • SB Live! 5.1 how to connect with my HiFi-Syst

    Hey,
I want to connect my Soundblaster Li've! 5. with my amplifier.
The amplifier is connected to two stereo loudspeaker.
It?s kind of an old amplifier with DIN connections, so I have to use a Cinch to DIN adapter. But the adapter has two cinch cables, one for the left signal and one for the right. (http://www.starcom-edv.de/shop/pics/AudioAdapter_DIN_St-Cinch_St_s.jpg)
I really don?t know how to connect it to my Soundcard. (http://img55.imageshack.us/img55/4602/picture0032vf.jpg)
Aditional I want to connect my PC with my TV, so I need one Line-Out for my TV.
    Please hep me!

Is tha 2 x RCA to DIN intend for playback or recording input (or are those DIN connector wires equal for Input and output purposes)?
You need another cable: 2 x RCA to 3.5mm (/8") stereo mini jack plug to get the SB and Hi-Fi connected. Connect the PC just the way, you would connect a casette deck into a stereo system (if you know how to do this) so, you get both playback and recording capability or just connect the output from PC into Hi-Fi system).
For that TV connection, do you mean you would use the TV as output device (PC --> TV)?
If that's what you're after, then just use the another line-out from your Li've card for that connection, otherwise (TV -> PC) connect the TV output into Li've Line-In or into some of those, possible available, internal analog inputs (AUX_IN, CD-AUDIO, etc.).

  • Cannot Play or Copy an EMI CD with Copy Protection

Today I purchased "warnings, promises" by Idlewild.
The disc was purchased new from BMG online and there was no mention of copy-protection on the web site.
On this disc (from EMI) it says "Copy Controlled".
When I place it in my mac drive it sees it as a data disk, but not a music disc.
ITunes cannot play it or burn it.
Any thoughts on how I can play this music that I legally purchased?
    Chris

I had a similar problem with the latest Jackson Browne CD, I sent feedback to EMI but I doubt it will make any difference. My CD plays but with audible drop outs on the Mac, won't play at all on a DVD player I have but will play on a 20 year old Cambridge CD2 player. If it plays on a normal CD player you could record it to your HD by connecting the tape out of your hi-fi to the Mac. I do this with vinyl but it works just as well with CD. You need audio software to edit the file, I use Sound Studio from www.felttip.com. You can download a fully functional 15 day trial from their website. In addition to the software you need an RCA to 3.5mm audio plug cable
