RCA video input

I have a chase camera attached to my race car with RCA video output. I usually drag a television out into the garage to set up the camera (centering and focusing), but at the race track this isn't possible...
I'm hoping there is a way to input the RCA feed onto my MacBook Pro. For example, I read about an RCA-USB adapter "DVD Grabber", but I'm not sure if or how this would work.
Suggestions?
Thanks in advance!

Note, any DVD capturing you do you should have copyright allowances to do before you try. This product sounds like what you may be looking for:

I've never used it, so I can't say for certain if it will work the way you want it.

  • Connecting composite RCA video to an HD15 monitor directly?

    Hello,
I am trying to run a composite RCA video signal directly to my Sony SDM-HS75/B monitor that only accepts HD15 or DVI inputs. Is there a cable I can purchase that anyone on these forums has used? I have seen the following cable for sale on eBay but am unsure if it will work with my needs:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/VGA-to-S-Video-RCA-Composite-Cable-Adapter-for-PC-TV_W0QQite mZ320185507645QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item320185507645
To be more specific about what I'm trying to do, I am trying to record video from my XBox 360. I am running the video and audio from the XBox 360 to my Elgato EyeTV 250 capture device, which is then connected to my G5 for recording. I am splitting the composite video signal with a 'Y' adapter so that the video runs to the EyeTV 250 and also splits to my monitor so that I can play the game or watch the video without the delay from the recording, while the G5 records the other split signal in the background. If my monitor had a composite RCA video input this would work just fine, but it only has an HD15 input, so I need to know if there is a cable that can take the composite RCA video with an HD15 end that will plug into my monitor?

No, that cable will not do the job. You need more than just a cable. You need a signal converter like the GVM-2000 ($90). You can probably find similar devices at your local Circuit City.

  • Capturing video input via a usb connection

i have a usb converter from interview 2.0. one end is the usb input and the other end has two different input options . . . one is an rca video input and the other is an s video input.
is there a way to get this to work with imovie or something else on my pwerbook?

iMovie is a video edit app meant to work with firewire connected miniDV camcorders
.. firewire isn't just a plug and a cable, it is also some protocol standard... that's why you don't need any "drivers" to make iM work with any fw connected camcorder...
some link to the manufacturer of your "converter" would be useful, I can not google any specs with your infos...
but I'm afraid, that is a "PC only" product...
    so:
    a) no, doesn't work with iM
    b) needs some additional apps to get any input into a Mac... usb uses a very "slow" and instable connection, so my guess is, it uses some kind of compression, which isn't natively supported by iM (as mpeg) => needs conversion.... not useful.

  • How can I connect my iPad to a TV that only has an s-video input available but also has a usb port on the satellite box available.

I would like to connect my iPad to my older TV but the only inputs available are the s-video input port on the TV itself and there is also a USB input port on the satellite box that feeds the TV. I could also split all the RCA jacks to accomodate another input here. Thanks in advance for any and all help with this problem of mine..............RR.

There is no s-video cable available for any iPad.
The USB port on the cable box is for maintenance use only.
    There are RCA cables available:

  • Audio/video input for quicksilver

Hi, does anyone have recommendations on the best/inexpensive (under $500 if possible) way for me to import audio and video onto a machine that has no audio input jack? I want to be able to capture stuff via rca audio and rca video or rca audio and s-video cables for use with quicktime, imovie and idvd. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thank You

Datavideo's DAC-200 converts analog A/V to digital and connects to the computer via FireWire. I've seen it for under $200, so you can compare prices for the best deal.

  • How do I make use of the Composite Video input jack on my HP pavilion Elite m9150f computer?

I have a Pavilion Elite m9150f computer that has front panel jacks labeled "Composite Video Input, and Audio left and Audio right input" They are all RCA type.None of the PDF type manual files mention these jacks.I would like to make use of them to input video from either my old VCR that has the same output jacks and or a DVD player that is also equipped with the same set of output jacks.Finaly, I would like to know what programs should I use to view the video that I connect to these input jacks? Thanks for any and all ideas.

If your m9150f still has Cyberlink DVD Suite Deluxe and the Hauppauge TV tuner installed, then you can use Cyberlink PowerDirector v6 to capture home videos from a VCR as MPEG2 movie clips (.mpg). The files can then be played using Windows Media Player or burned to disc using Windows DVD Maker. You can also edit the movie clips with PowerDirector or other video-editing software. MPEG2 video is not ideal for editing: there will be some loss of picture quality when the video is re-encoded. To minimize that, make your edited videos short and do not reduce the bit rate. Note: The jack on the back of the m9150f is Video Composite-01, the one on the front is -02. Be sure to select the right capture source in PowerDirector's Capture / Device Setup / Video Setup tab. I can't think of any good reason to use Composite jacks for DVD input as long as your m9150f has a functioning DVD drive.

  • Video input to ancient PowerBook &/o iBook

    Hello,
I am setting up a security camera, recording the video stream to a laptop, and would like to use either my old PowerBook 1400c or an iBook G3 clamshell (300mhz) I may have access to. The camera in question outputs the signal via an RCA video connector (I already have OS9 motion-sensor/recording software). Is there a card in existence for the 1400c which will input full-motion video via an RCA jack? If not, is it possible to expand the iBook in a similar fashion?
    Many thanks,
    Sean

I don't think it will work with either of those laptops.
You might have been able to do it low-tech with an older desktop Mac that has video-in RCA ports or even with a 3rd party card but since neither laptop has those sort of options it might be tough if not impossible.
Some newer laptops could use El Gato's EyeTV but I am not sure if either of the laptops you have has the power. I think they require a G4 and USB2 or Firewire.
To be honest I think you are better off recorind to a VCR, DVR, or DVDr unit if cost is going to be a factor. If money is not an isssue then I would get a nice older dual processor G4 tower and load it up with RAM and a couple 120Gb hard drives and use an EyeTv unit

  • Vga (laptop) to rca video

Thought I would ask this of the resident geniuses here.
Anyone know what I need by way of cable, connector, converter devic.... to get a Powerpoint Project out of my laptop to display on an Autocue Monitor.
Laptop has HDMI and vga.  Autocue only has RCA (video) connector.
I doubt the HDMI is useable for the Powerpoint.
    Thanx all.

If the input is component use this:
    http://www.amazon.com/Wired-Up-Premium-7-62M-Component-Cable/dp/B000QEDE76
    ot this:
    http://www.amazon.com/Mediabridge-Component-Video-Cable-Audio/dp/B001ID829O/ref=sr_1_1?ie= UTF8&qid=1359963973&sr=8-1&keywords=hdmi+to+component+cable
If it is composite use this:
    http://www.amazon.com/HDE-Adapter-S-Video-Cable-Video/dp/B000Y7T5UU/ref=sr_1_2?s=electroni cs&ie=UTF8&qid=1359964069&sr=1-2&keywords=vga+to+composite+cable
Audio is a different issue when using composite. The VGA port doesn't put out audio like the HDMI port does.

  • USB Video Input

I'm not sure if this should go into the iMovie section or just general OS X section but, I'm going to put it here.
I'm working on a project for my job where I need to transfer some instructional videos that are VHS to DVD. So we (the people I work with) bought an LG GSA-5169D "One-Touch Video to Disc" DVD burner that has RCA in (to connect the VCR to the Burner) and then USB 2.0 out (to connect to the computer). It comes with Windows software, that once installed allows you to... do what the product is advertised to do, import a playing VCR to a video file and then burn that to a DVD. The point is, it allows video capture from a USB Video Input device.
Well, I have a Mac Pro (that also has Vista Ultimate installed on it) which makes me not only the best candidate for ANY video processing work but, everyone I work with has pretty old machines and none of them can transfer the video at high enough quality (the Windows software locks out certain levels of transfer if it reads a CPU that is too weak).
But, we thought that what might be possible is to use iMovie to capture video from this device. And it would be possible if we could get iMovie, or rather OS X, to recognize the connect USB device as a USB Video Input device. Now I know that since 10.4.3, OS X has a UVC class driver so, shouldn't it be able to see the input? Am I just grasping at straws?
(By the way, for those of you thinking I should just install the software on my Vista partition and do it that way, the software just locks up when I attempt to install it on Vista. Braindead, BS LG software.)
Basically, to lay it out simply, my goal is to somehow get some sort of adequate video capturing software to recognize and receive and USB Video Input.
I'd appreciate ANY kind of help or suggestions.

The only hope I've ever found for doing it straight through, with no passthrough camera, is using VideoGlide (http://www.echofx.com/videoglide.html) but I can't quite figure it out. When I go into Video sources, USB Video Input is grayed out even though that's what it's supposed to do. It even lists the drive that I have on the page as a supported device! I don't know.
Yeah, I figured there were plenty of people with my predicament and you gave me a solid reply so I'm just going to mark this question as resolved. Thank you.

  • STB video input

I would like to hook my DVD player up to my FIOS set top box.  The STB that I have does not have input jacks for video input, nd using the coax input does not work.
Does anyone know know if a new STB exists that takes video input?

the video inputs on the motorolla boxes, other than the COAX input, are NOT enabled.... and can NOT be enabled
Your DVD player should be hooked DIRECTLY to your TV
if your TV does not have enough inputs, you may want to lok into an RF to RCA  modulator/adaptor, that allows to connect multiple devices to a TV with one input.... or get a newer TV with enough inputs

  • How to connect satellite set-top box to Qosmio G50 using RCA video-in cable

I want to connect my satellite set-top box to my Qosmio G50 laptop using the RCA video-in cable I received with the computer. (yellow, red, white RCAs and a Jack)
Could you help me where should I plug this cable as I have not found any instructions in the users manual. (The user's manual list this cable on page 21, so it can be used for something somehow for sure!)
(The set-top box does not have coaxial output, and I do not want to include another machine (eg. an old VCR) just to use coaxial connection.)
Thanks in advance for your help!
