Acrobat reader install fails on vista - says close windows explorer
I'm trying to install the latest reader on a Windows Vista laptop but the installation fails with an error message "you must close windows explorer". In task manager there are no running applications but I can see explorer.exe in the list of processes. I think this is running the desktop/taskbar so I don't want to close it. Any ideas how to get round this?
TIAThis might work.
1) Open Adobe Reader
2) Go to Edit then Preferences
3) Under Categories on the left side click on Internet

Trying to install DTM 600_b047 on a Windows 7 64-bit system. Install fails with

Any ideas?Hey adairlw,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
What security software is currently installed on the computer?
Also can I get you to re-name the install shield folder which is located under C:\Program files\common files. Once you re-name the folder, then try to install the software.
I look forward to your reply.

Connector install fails with Server Error on Windows 8.1 Pro
I have tried everything and cannot get the connector software to install on my computer.
Server=Dell PowerEdge R210II, Windows 2012 Essentials
Computer = Dell Inspiron 17R, Windows 8.1 Professional
LAN = 192.168.0.0/24, Server is 192.168.0.2, not using IPv6 but it's enabled on server and clients. Computers get IP and config from DHCP, DNS only points to server. servername.domain.local resolves fine. I can also join the computer to AD the old way
(without connector). I have other Windows 8 comptuers on the domain that have the connector installed.

Michael MaxwellI found the issue. The web.config file became damaged on the server. C:\Program Files\Windows Server\Bin\WebApps\CertWebService\Web.config is the file. Performed a search and replace, replace all instances of "%SBSPRODUCTBINPLACEHOLDER% with C:\Program Files\Windows
Server\Bin, restart IIS and run the Connector software install again. Here is a KB on the issue:

Cisco VPN client install fails with Error 1722 on Windows 7
Hi,
I am having issues with laptops upgraded from Vista to Windows 7.
Prior to the upgrade they are running Cisco VPN Client 5.0.05.0290. These laptops also have Juniper Network Connect 6.5 and Citrix web client installed. The windows upgrade advisor made no recommendations regarding uninstalling / reinstalling these apps.
I have done an inplace upgade to Windows 7 (Windows Vista Enterprise 32bit to Windows 7 Enterprise 32 bit) and after the install the Cisco client is not working. Uninstalled the client (the uninstall was successful) then reinstalled and the installation fails at Installing Cisco Systems Virtual Adapter - error 1722 there was a problem with the windows installer package.
I have followed the steps for a manual uninstall of the Cisco client and then tried the install again - still not successful. Interestingly (or not) the Juniper Network Connect also fails with the error The Network Connect Virtual adapter driver is not installed properly. This also fails to reinstall after being removed.
I tried removing the VPN clients on another laptop and then running the upgrade but the same errors occured when reinstalling the VPN Client. I have tried the Winfix and DNE patch from Citrix but these fail saying there is a corruption in the application.
On another laptop where only the Cisco VPN client was installed a reinstall was required after the upgrade, but it did install successfully.
On a clean image these applications all install fine, however I have a large number of laptops do upgrade and don't want to do a fresh install and settings migration on all of them.
What files / registry entrys are involved with the DNE adapter so I can manually clear it all out before reinstalling?
Anything else I can do to troubleshoot this issue?
Cheers,
JamesYou should be able to install the 64 bit version of the Cisco VPN software
Latest version is vpnclient-winx64-msi-5.0.07.0440-k9.exe
You should download and run MCPR.exe first, to clean out any traces of McAfee products that conflict with Cisco VPN.
http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe
If there is a problem with vbscript registration on the system - there is a fixit tool from Microsoft for that:
MicrosoftFixit50842.msi
(Using Shrew VPN is a possible workaround.) -
Adobe Reader X 10.1 Install Failing on XP SP3 and Windows 7 (64 bit)
After using the Customization Wizard 10 to create an .mst and executing the install via SCCM 2007 which I have done many times before, I am getting the following error on both the XP SP3 and Windows 7 (64 bit) machines in the Application Event Log:
Product: Adobe Reader X (10.1.0) -- Error 2229.Database: . Could not load table 'ServiceInstall' in SQL query: SELECT `Name`,`DisplayName`,`ServiceType`,`StartType`,`ErrorControl`,`LoadOrderGroup`,`Dependenc ies`,`StartName`,`Password`,`ComponentId`,`Directory_`,`FileName`,`Arguments`,`Description ` FROM `ServiceInstall`, `Component`, `File` WHERE `ServiceInstall`.`Component_` = `Component`.`Component` AND (`Component`.`KeyPath` = `File`.`File`) AND (`Action` = 1 OR `Action` = 2).
I used the following .msi to create the.mst:
AdbeRdr1010_en_US.msi
Does anyone know where to go from here?
Thanks, SandyI have found another possible bug affecting network printing with 10.1.2 in Protected Mode on XP SP3 machines that has not been previously documented:
A number of users in one office were not able to print with 10.1.2 in Protected Mode (even with the printing hotfix/patch previously released) to their default printer; however they were able to print fine with 10.0.1 in Protected Mode OR by disabling Protected Mode in 10.1.2. They could print to Microsoft XPS Document Writer, however.
The cause was determined to be an issue with capitilization of the printer name in the registry! 10.1.2 in Protected Mode seems to be sensitive to this for some strange reason, though other apps don't care.
Check the following keys and ensure the capitalization of any references to name of your printer (or UNC path of the printer share) is consistent:
HKCU\Printers\Connections
HKCU\Printers\Settings
HKCU\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\windows\Device
In our case, the reference to the name of the default printer was in lowercase, while the printer path recorded under settings was in UPPERCASE. Changing this to match immediately fixed the problem. -
Installing JDK6u2532bits on Oracle Linux v6 64 bits
Hello,
I am having some dependency issues when trying to install JKD32bits on OEL 6 64 bits.
When using the self-extracting JDK package I get the following error:
$ sh jdk-6u25-linux-i586.bin

the Installation Instructions on the download page for more information.Apparently 32 bits glibc should be installed so I download the following packages:
glibc-2.3.2-27.9.7.i686.rpm
glibc-2.3.2-27.9.7.i686.rpm
When trying to install glibc-2.3.2-27.9.7.i686.rpm I get this error:
$ rpm -i glibc-2.3.2-27.9.7.i686.rpm

glibc-common <= 2.3.2-63 conflicts with tzdata-2010l-1.el6.noarchI would like to know which is the best way to proceed from here.
Will yum install the right dependencies? The server is not connected to internet so I would have to use the DVD as the source of packages.
Any comments?
Thanks
AngelThanks for you reply. It actually helped to get this sorted out.
I managed to install the 32bt HotSpot in OLE64, doing the following steps:
1) Downloaded glibc-2.12-1.7.el6.i686.rpm (from http://public-yum.oracle.com/repo/OracleLinux/OL6/0/base/i386/glibc-2.12-1.7.el6.i686.rpm)
2) Downloaded the dependency libfreebl3-3.12.9-4.3.i586.rpm (from ftp://195.220.108.108/linux/opensuse/distribution/11.4/repo/oss/suse/i586/libfreebl3-3.12.9-4.3.i586.rpm)
Then run the following:
$ rpm -i glibc-2.12-1.7.el6.i686.rpm libfreebl3-3.12.9-4.3.i586.rpmTo install both at the same time.
Then:
$ sh jdk-6u25-linux-i586.binAnd it did it!:
$ ./jdk1.6.0_25/bin/java -version
java version "1.6.0_25"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_25-b06)
Java HotSpot(TM) Server VM (build 20.0-b11, mixed mode)Many thanks for your help.

Installing CYGWIN for Oracle Applications on Windows XP.
For those who do not have access to metalink - setps to install CYGWIN. Important steps are in bold.
Step 1 - Log in
Log in as a local administrative user (the user who runs the Rapid Install.)
Step 2 - Create a Cygwin directory eg. C:\CYGWIN.
Create the directory where you plan to install Cygwin (called the Root Directory). This directory cannot be under Program Files, or any other directory with blank spaces in its name. In addition, it cannot be under the APPL_TOP.
Step 3 - Download the Cygwin Software
Do the following to download the Cygwin software:
Navigate to http://www.cygwin.com and click on "Install or Update Now!" to download setup.exe to your machine.
Run setup.exe and click Next, which will bring up the Choose Installation Type screen.
Choose Option 2, Download without Installing.
Click on Next to go through the next few screens, where you will be asked to choose the directory to store the packages (called the Local Package Directory), your Internet connection type, and a download site.
Click on Next again to get to the Select Packages screen, and select the following packages (click on to toggle):
All Default
Archive Default, plus manually select the zip package
Base Default, plus manually select the following extra packages: ash, coreutils, diffutils, findutils, gawk, grep, sed, tar and which
Devel Default, plus manually select binutils, gcc, gcc-core, gcc-g++, make and mktemp
Doc Default, plus manually select cygwin-doc and man
Editors Default, plus manually select vim
Interpreters Default, plus manually select gawk
Shells Default, plus manually select ash and tcsh
Utils Default, plus manually select cygutils and file
Click on Next again to download the selected files.
Step 4 - Install Cygwin
Once the download is complete, perform the following steps to install Cygwin.
Launch setup.exe again to conduct the install.
From the Choose Installation Type screen, choose Option 3, Install from Local Directory.
Click Next, and specify the Root Directory where you wish to install Cygwin (created in Step 2), and DOS as the Default Text File Type.
Click Next and specify the same Local Package Directory from Step 3.
Click Next to get to the Select Packages screen.
Choose All Install (click on to toggle). Note: Do not choose All Default, since this will not include all the necessary files.
Click on Next again to conduct the installation.
Note
We do not recommend downloading and installing all packages by selecting All Install in Steps 3 and 4 because a complete download can take several hours, and installation of the full download uses 1.85 GB of disk (versus 127 MB for the prescribed procedure).
Step 5
Type these commands to maintain compatibility with existing shell scripts:
C:\> copy gawk.exe awk.exe (answer yes to copy over existing file)
C:\> copy grep.exe egrep.exe
C:\> copy make.exe gnumake.exe
C:\> copy gcc.exe cc.exe
Step 6
Add the cygwin bin directory to the system path. For instance:
C:\> set path = %path%;D:\cygwin\binHi,
IA, trying to install APPs 11i on win XP using Cygwin...
I have installed setup.exe from cygwin as u told . and configured the packages required . I have a dial up account for internet . After 2-3 hours it gets disconnected and the download stops and i have to begin afresh .
CAn u pls .tell me anyother alternative site to download complete version of Cygwin in one file so that i can download it using Download managers to resume when disconnected...
Thanks

I've been trying to install the CS5 for a couple of week now but cannot get it to install. I've tried lots of things I've seen in the forums but I still cannot get it to install. I'd appreciate it if someone could offer some help and direction to step me through the possible issues. I've tried uninstalling, using the cs5 cleanup utility, changing permissions on the entire Adobe folder, completely uninstalling any Adobe product, deleting all reference folders, running as administrator, etc etc but nothing works. I've turned off firewall and antivirus, closed all applications including start-up items, and still nothing.
I'll start again and list my issues and perhaps someone can help..

Can anyone help please..?Try this microsoft solution, it worked for me on Vista with SP2, 32 bit. Even though you have a 64bit system, I think this solution might well work. I spent 9 days with Adobe trying to install $1,700 software, and still they haven't given me a solution. Opened Microsoft tech support case today, and everything is now installed, CS5 and Acrobat 9 professional. Installed Acrobat 9 the same was as CS5, and installed it using the new Admintrator account.
Here is a summary from Microsoft of what the did to fix the issue: Good luck!
Subject: SRX1134614654ID - Unable to install Adobe CS5\Exit Code 7
It was my pleasure to work with you on your Windows Support Request 1134614654.
I am glad to hear that the issue is resolved. We appreciate your time and patience in going through the troubleshooting steps performed.
The following is the summary of the troubleshooting steps performed that resolved the issue.
ACTION: Tried to install Adobe CS5.
RESULT: Unable to install Adobe CS5 getting error Exit Code 7.
CAUSE: Conflict with Administrator rights.
RESOLUTION: Enabled Default Admin Account and able to install Adobe CS5 and Acrobat Reader in default admin account.
Steps to enable Default Administrator Account:
1. First you’ll need to open a command prompt in administrator mode by right-clicking and choosing “Run as administrator” (or use the Ctrl+Shift+Enter shortcut from the search box).
2. Now type the following command:
net user administrator /active:yes
3. You should see a message that the command completed successfully. Log out, and you’ll now see the Administrator account as a choice.

Fail installing OBIEE 11g on Oracle Linux 5 64 bits
Hello,
I am trying to install OBIEE 11g over Oracle Linux 5 (64 bits), but I can't. I have the following issue:
INST-07008: Validation of Oracle Home location failed. User does not have permission to create home/instance location
INST-07282: Specified Middleware home location does not exist
In the Oracle Middleware Home, I have specified "/root/Oracle/Middleware".
I have following these steps:
1) Install Oracle DB 11g R2 (OK)
2) Install jdk for Linux 64 bits (OK)
3) Install weblogic
I have done the installation as "root" user
Middleware Home Directory = /root/oracle/Middleware (OK)
4) Install RCU as root (OK)
5) Install OBI 11g
To execute ./runInstaller it is necessary be as oracle user.
I have changed permissions in /root/Oracle/Middleware (chmod 777), but the issue is the same.
I appreciate any idea to solve the issue.
Thank you in advance.
Regards,
Monica.Hello,
no, I have installed OBIEE as oracle user with software only option, with root isn't possible.
So, I don't know if it is necessary I installed WebLogic as oracle user to have permission in middleware path...
Regards. -
Installation error Install Failed: Error Domain=PKInstallErrorDomain Code=112
Trying to install an application or "whatever", from a mounted dmg image installer gives this error:
Install Failed: Error Domain=PKInstallErrorDomain Code=112.
A developer I contacted suggested a workaround by disabling/enabling checkmark of "Ignore ownership on this volume".
Is there anyone knowing the reason for this issue and final solution?
PS I already have verified/repaired permissions on boot disk.Steps to do
1) /etc/hosts now reads:
127.0.0.1 localhost
192.168.56.101 demo.us.oracle.com oracle-pc
2) updated java in path /usr/java from 1.5 to the latest version (1.6.0_27) by rpm-deinstalling the old version first and
then rpm-installing the new version.
3) Don't do a simple install.
Instead u installed WebLogic Server 10.3.5 first, than do the Repository creation with RCU, followed by the BI Server software only install
and finally the BI Server configuration.
Marks as correct if helpful or let me know the updates? -

The installer certainly thinks that you still have a previous ConfigMgr client installed. Perhaps you haven't completely removed it. Use ccmclean.exe from the SMS 2003 tool kit.
If that fails, why not just rebuild the server - you've said that this is a fresh install. I don't like too much messing at the beginning. This can be difficult enough - you need to start with a clean installation of the product.

ProClarity 6.3 PAS install fails on Windows Server 2012
We are trying to install PAS 6.3 on Windows Server 2012 and the install fails with the following error
The following requirements are missing:
Windows Server 2003 SP1
We have successfully installed on Windows Server 2008 R2, so it really isn't a Windows Server 2003 SP1 issue.
Has anyone successfully installed on Windows Server 2012? Is there a way to force the installer not to check for the OS?
Thanks.
KevinI have a PAS server running in Windows 2012, by doing exactly the same pre-requisites that you do in Windows 2008 r2 (iis, Framework, SQL ADO 2005 / 2008). With the Windows Server 2003 SP1 message you can avoid it by doing a really simple thing that
is right click the setup file --> properties, and head to the "Compatibility Tab" and run it with compatibility mode Windows 7, also run it with Admin permissions. This let you pass by the message and let you install the product. Remember, after the
installation, you need to check all the IIS config, folder permissions, that you did in Windows 2008 x64 installation. Also, the App pool needs to work with .NET 2.0 not 4.0.
Good luck!
