RCVCAT IS TOO OLD

RCVCAT IS TOO OLD
Dear Friends
I would like to know whether we can use oracle 9i recovery catalog with oracle 10g database.I tried to do it but got errors about version incompatible. The errors"PL/SQL package RMAN.DBMS_RCVCAT version 09.02.00 in RCVCAT database is too old" The whole list of errors were "PL/SQL package RMAN.DBMS_RCVCAT version 09.02.00 in RCVCAT database is too old
PL/SQL package RMAN.DBMS_RCVCAT version 09.02.00 in RCVCAT database is too old
PL/SQL package RMAN.DBMS_RCVCAT version 09.02.00 in RCVCAT database is too old
Appreciate your help asap
cheers...
Satish.V.S.H.

For a 10g database is true:
1) RMAN executable must be >=9.0.1.3 and <= Target database
2) Catalog database must be >= 9.0.1
3) Catalog schema must be >= RMAN executable
In such a constellation you can have a 9i recovery catalog database, but the catalog schema itself must be >= RMAN executable. In other words using a 10g RMAN executable means, you cannot have a catalog schema version 9i.

I have just upgraded my oracle 10.2.0.4 database to oracle database 11.2.0.1.
Previously I was taking the backup using RMAN and after upgrade , if I am trying to run the backup it is ending up with following error.

    Any suggestion ?

Check your RMAN catalog database version.
    select *
    from rcver;
Connect with the catalog server and run that from SQL plus prompt.
    * The recovery catalog schema version must be greater than or equal to the RMAN client version.

We have faced the same issue. So upgrade your catalog database into 11.2.0.1

  • I have a 16GB iPhone 3GS. Tried synching my phone through iTunes (11.0.1 I think... on a 2009 Macbook Pro). Now when I connect to iTunes, it says it does not recognise the content on my phone. Is this because my phone (and laptop) are too old?

I have a 16GB iPhone 3GS. Tried synching my phone through iTunes (11.0.1 I think... on a 2009 Macbook Pro). Now when I connect to iTunes, it says it does not recognise the content on my phone. Is this because my phone (and laptop) are too old?
Also, when I tried to Restore the settings, an Error Message pops up that says " The iPhone software update server could not be contacted. The requested resource was not found.
I'm trying to free up space on my phone by removing [literally] thousands of old photos which were originally synched to the phone, because I had forgotten to uncheck the photos button when I synched it ages ago.
I have also tried synching it on my 24" iMac (running OSX Snow Leopard). But again, when I try restoring the phone through itunes, it says the file is corrupted. It sggests unplugging the device, and then plugging it in again. I have done this numerous times with no success.
I'm guessing it must be because my phone (and versions of iTunes, and OSX) are all too old.
    Please can anybody help.
    Cheers,
    Dan_nz.

There are multiple reasons that lead to issue. You should read the troubleshooting guide to get the right solution to solve the issue: iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch not recognized in iTunes for Windows - Apple Support

  • I want to put music on my iPhone 4, but am not able to because I can not download the version of iTunes required because my mac computer is too old.

Am just having troubles in adding music to my new phone in that when I connect it to my computer it says that the phone requires the new version of iTunes being 10.5, but when I go to download this for my mac computer it says that this version of iTunes requires a different mac, meaning that my computer is too old.  So I am just wondering how I can get music onto my phone?!

You will have to upgrade your operating system version and possibly your whole computer.  We cannot provide more information easily until we know more about your system.
Get more information about your computer. Go to the Apple in the upper left corner of any window, then "About This Mac", then "More Info..."  Copy and paste the information here, but omit the serial number and Hardware UUID (if present).
Apple does tell you about required equipment for the iPhone -- in 8 point medium gray type on a light gray box.   The Store associates kind of automatically assume everybody is running a new model computer and the one I met when we bought our iPhone had never seen a pre-2008 Mac and was somewhat puzzled why anybody would own such an antique.

  • I'm too old to learn iCal.  How do I tell iTunes to synch with Outlook for Mac for all of the Contacts and the Calendar on my iPhone and iPad??  Thanks

I'm too old to learn iCal.  How do I tell iTunes to synch with Outlook for Mac for all of the Contacts and the Calendar on my iPhone and iPad??
Also, once I figure out how to replace iCal with Outlook/Mac on iTunes, how do I synch the phone and pad so that the information on those devices over-writes onto Outlook as a backup, rather than having a blank Calendar on Outlook wipe out all of the information on the phone and pad???
    Thanks

If you haven't tried already, plug your devices into iTunes, and on each device next to the "Summary" tab at the top is another tab called "Info." Click that and scroll down to Contacts, Calendars, etc. There should be a pull down bar under each category for "Sync contacts from..." and you should be able to select from that pull down list Outlook.  Hit Apply at the bottom and see if that does it.

  • I have a copy of Windows 7, and I am trying to bring up Boot Camp on my MacBook with Snow Leopard. But my Snow Leopard install disk is too old for Windows 7, so attempted Boot Camp install of drivers fails.

I have a copy of Windows 7, and I am trying to bring up Boot Camp on my MacBook with Snow Leopard. But my Snow Leopard install disk is too old for Windows 7, so attempted Boot Camp install of drivers fails.
I have hand-installed the NVidia graphics driver, and I have keyboard, minimal trackpad, and hardwire to internet all working. So the WIndows machine is usable. But I am hurting for wi-fi, better trackpad, and whatever else is delivered by Boot Camp. I can't use any of the Boot Camp upgrades because I do not have XP or Vista.

While we all have MacBooks in this forum not all of us use Boot Camp. There's a Boot Camp Support Community where everybody uses Boot Camp. You should also post this question there.

  • "Quicktime is not installed or is too old of a version (39::0)" error when trying to open CS 6 psd f

I am editing some Sony EXCAM footage and decided to apply a Photoshop CS 6 filter to a potential background plate for a green screen shot. The EXCAM footage (HD, 1920x1080, 24p) plays fine in Quicktime player and plays inside Photoshop as well once imported. But after applying the filter -- which also plays properly in Photoshop -- and saving the composition as a psd file, I then try to open the psd file in After Effects, I get an error message that says "Quicktime is not installed or is too old of a version (39::0)." I have considered rendering the Photoshop comp as video, but I notice that unless I want an image sequence (which I don't) my export options are limited to a couple of animation flavors or jpeg 2000. I see no place in the Photoshop render dialogue box to access Quicktime settings and choose another codec. (An Apple Pro Res proxy might work just fine, for example.) So I'm making this a Photoshop question because I think there's something about Photoshop that is making the file unrecognizable to After Effects. After Effects does import a single frame of the image with the filter applied. (Yes, I am converting the video to a smart object before applying the filter.) Any thoughts?

Hi hertz. I was informed by Todd Koprivka (pardon if I got the last name wrong) of Adobe that owing to different speeds of development, some interactions between Photoshop and After Effects are not working as they once did. One of the programs has to catch up to the other. So, no, you can't open a video saved as a psd file in After Effects pending new developments. And while you can export your Photoshop video, it doesn't seem you have access to all your system installed codecs. I can't remember what is available at the moment. I think animation and maybe photo jpeg -- don't quote me. But it does seem that until they get the programs back on the same page, you do have to use one of those export options and then import the result as footage into AE. (Please note that I am playing this back to you from memory and may not have the details quite right, but I think I'm telling you the gist. You could try tracking down Mr. Koprivka at Adobe and emailing him. He seems to be some sort of community liason for AE.) Sorry the news isn't better -- especially as you have updated all the software and the problem apparently hasn't been addressed. That's disappointing. The workaround I'm suggesting is time consuming and, of course, you are baking in your Photoshop work. But if that's OK and you have the time for the export, you can eventually get your stuff into After Effects.

  • HT4641 I have recently upgraded to Pages 5.1.  I can't open any of my previously created Pages docs because I am told they are too old and have to be saved in Pages'09 first. I don't have Pages '09. How do I open them?

I am technologically challenged senior citizen who recently upgraged to Pages 5.1 from what I think was iWorks '08.  I now find that I am not able to open any of my important previously created Pages documents.  I receive a pop-up that tells me that they are too old and must be saved in Pages'09 first.  I no longer have the disk for iWorks 08 and don't have Pages '09 on my iMac.  Any ideas how I might get these documents open?

You should have the old Pages '08 inside the iWork folder, inside your Applications folder.
Open your old files in Pages '08 > Menu > File > Export > Word
Pages 5 can then open that Word file.

  • Pages 5.1 error "This document is too old. To open it, save it with Pages '09 first."

When trying to open a Pages '08 file from a MacBook Pro in Pages 5.1 on an iMac, I get thr error message, "This document is too old. To open it, save it with Pages '09 first". I cannot locate a Pages '09 to use.  I can export the file from Pages '08 into a Microsoft Word Doc file and can open it then. How I do I solve the problem and open files in Pages 5.1?

It is A solution that works if you don't have too many Page files to convert, but is very poor solution if trying to move everything off of the MacBook Pro to the iMac.  I don't necessarily need to open the 5 years of files, but if I need to look at something archived, I'm dead in the water.
It doesn't make sense that a Mac can open a Microsoft product but cannot open a Mac product.  I can understand that a program is not forward compatibale, but almost all programs are backward compatible. This same problem appears with Numbers 3.1.
Apple needs Microsoft as a solution?

I think I have some mismatch between glibc and the kernel now, but the question is: how do I get out of this? This installation is on a VPS and I only have remote access. In case of emergency I can just restore yesterday's backup, but first I'd like to know if there is some other solution.
    Thanks

Lol, I had the same problem just now:) System became completely unusable!
Luckily I found the old glibc package without too much trouble, and with the help of a LiveCD I manually extracted the package and put the old files back in place. All back to normal. Phew!
I'm kinda happy I didn't have to setup a Vserver for it:)
My 10 year old pc, now performing admirably as a simple router, lives on!

  • How can i transfer data from old MacBook Pro, which is too old to update time machine, to the newest MacBook Pro?

I recently bought a new MacBook Pro, and wanted to transfer all the data from my old MacBook Pro, but I get the message saying I need to update time machine on my old one in order to use time machine. However, my old one is too old to update. So I decided to use the cable to transfer, because I heard I can do it that way even though it could take time. But I have no idea what to do...

The Knowledgebase article Intel-based Mac: Some migrated applications may need to be updated refers to methods of dealing with migrating from PowerPC chips to Intel with the Migration Assistant safely. The authors of this tip have not had a chance to verify this works in all instances, or that it avoids the 10.6.1 and earlier Guest Account bug that caused account information to get deleted upon use of the Migration/Setup Assistant. However, a well backed up source that includes at least two backups of all the data that are not connected to your machine will help you avoid potential issues, should they arise. In event it does not work, follow the steps below.
If you are migrating a PowerPC system (G3, G4, or G5) to an Intel-Mac be careful what you migrate.  Keep in mind that some items that may get transferred will not work on Intel machines and may end up causing your computer's operating system to malfunction.
Rosetta supports "software that runs on the PowerPC G3, G4, or G5 processor that are built for Mac OS X". This excludes the items that are not universal binaries or simply will not work in Rosetta:
Classic Environment, and subsequently any Mac OS 9 or earlier applications
Screensavers written for the PowerPC System Preference add-ons
All Unsanity Haxies Browser and other plug-ins
    Contextual Menu Items
Applications which specifically require the PowerPC G5 Kernel extensions
Java applications with JNI (PowerPC) libraries
See also What Can Be Translated by Rosetta.
In addition to the above you could also have problems with migrated cache files and/or cache files containing code that is incompatible.
If you migrate a user folder that contains any of these items, you may find that your Intel-Mac is malfunctioning. It would be wise to take care when migrating your systems from a PowerPC platform to an Intel-Mac platform to assure that you do not migrate these incompatible items.
If you have problems with applications not working, then completely uninstall said application and reinstall it from scratch. Take great care with Java applications and Java-based Peer-to-Peer applications. Many Java apps will not work on Intel-Macs as they are currently compiled. As of this time Limewire, Cabos, and Acquisition are available as universal binaries. Do not install browser plug-ins such as Flash or Shockwave from downloaded installers unless they are universal binaries. The version of OS X installed on your Intel-Mac comes with special compatible versions of Flash and Shockwave plug-ins for use with your browser.
The same problem will exist for any hardware drivers such as mouse software unless the drivers have been compiled as universal binaries. For third-party mice the current choices are USB Overdrive or SteerMouse. Contact the developer or manufacturer of your third-party mouse software to find out when a universal binary version will be available.
Also be careful with some backup utilities and third-party disk repair utilities. Disk Warrior, TechTool Pro , SuperDuper , and Drive Genius  work properly on Intel-Macs with Leopard.  The same caution may apply to the many "maintenance" utilities that have not yet been converted to universal binaries.  Leopard Cache Cleaner, Onyx, TinkerTool System, and Cocktail are now compatible with Leopard.
Before migrating or installing software on your Intel-Mac check MacFixit's Rosetta Compatibility Index.

Transferring data with Setup Assistant - Migration Assistant FAQ
OS X Lion: How to use Migration Assistant to transfer files from another Mac
Because Migration Assistant isn't the ideal way to migrate from PowerPC to Intel Macs, using Target Disk Mode, copying the critical contents to CD and DVD, an external hard drive, or networking will work better when moving from PowerPC to Intel Macs.  The initial section below discusses Target Disk Mode.  It is then followed by a section which discusses networking with Macs that lack Firewire.
If both computers support the use of Firewire then you can use the following instructions:
Repair the hard drive and permissions using Disk Utility.
Backup your data.  This is vitally important in case you make a mistake or there's some other problem.
Connect a Firewire cable between your old Mac and your new Intel Mac.
Startup your old Mac in Transferring files between two computers using FireWire.
Startup your new Mac for the first time, go through the setup and registration screens, but do NOT migrate data over. Get to your desktop on the new Mac without migrating any new data over.
If you are not able to use a Firewire connection (for example you have a Late 2008 MacBook that only supports USB:)
    1. Set up a local home network: Creating a small Ethernet Network.
    2. If you have a MacBook Air or Late 2008 MacBook see the following:

    MacBook Air- Migration Tips and Tricks;
MacBook Air- Remote Disc, Migration, or Remote Install Mac OS X and wireless 802.11n networks.
Copy the following items from your old Mac to the new Mac:
In your /Home/ folder: Documents, Movies, Music, Pictures, and Sites folders.
    In your /Home/Library/ folder:
/Home/Library/Application Support/AddressBook (copy the whole folder) /Home/Library/Application Support/iCal (copy the whole folder)
Also in /Home/Library/Application Support (copy whatever else you need including folders for any third-party applications)
/Home/Library/Keychains (copy the whole folder) /Home/Library/Mail (copy the whole folder) /Home/Library/Preferences/ (copy the whole folder) /Home /Library/Calendars (copy the whole folder) /Home /Library/iTunes (copy the whole folder) /Home /Library/Safari (copy the whole folder)
    If you want cookies:
    /Home/Library/Cookies/Cookies.plist /Home/Library/Application Support/WebFoundation/HTTPCookies.plist
    For Entourage users:
Entourage is in /Home/Documents/Microsoft User Data Also in /Home/Library/Preferences/Microsoft.
Credit goes to Macjack for this information.
If you need to transfer data for other applications please ask the vendor or ask in the  Discussions where specific applications store their data.
    5. Once you have transferred what you need restart the new Mac and test to make sure the contents are there for each of the applications.

How do I get my Macbook Pro to stream?  It is about 1 year too old.

Depending upon the available ports on your MBP you will need an adapter and an HDMI cable to connect to your TV (unless it is an older model).
These are example of an adapter and an HDMI cable:
    eshop.macsales.com/item/NewerTech/CBLMDPHDMI/http://
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/MISC/CBLHDMI1406/
One can find a single cable that combines the two.
Since you have not indicated what MBP you have and the TV connections that are available, these may or may not be applicable in your situation.
    Ciao.

  • I have an older Ipod Touch, I bought a new one and the Itunes on my computer is too old to recognize my new Ipod Touch and cannot be updated.  Is there a creditable software program I can use to get all my old music from my old iPod Touch to the new one?

I have an older iPod Touch, I bought a new one and the Itunes on my computer is too old to recognize my new iPod Touch and Itunes cannot be updated.  Is there a creditable software program I can use to get all my old music from my old iPod Touch to the new one?  It is my understanding that the music cannot be saved onto my new iTunes, b/c I did not have iCloud. I have over 2,000 songs I just cannot part with. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help some how!!  THANKS!

I had the same problem with my iPad, i couldn't get the newer version of itunes because the computer was too old and my iPad couldnt sync with the old itunes. I got a PC from school a few months later so that solved the problem for me. Unfortunately i don't think there would be a program to put your music on your iPod, iTunes should be the only way to transfer files to Apple devices. What operating system are you running and what version of it is it?

  • "Ipod software is too old" error with ipod nano

I am having a big problem with my ipod nano. I've been working on it for a week and still have not been able to fix it. I can sync my ipod nano to my mac g4 (running OS X 10.3.9) however in the ipod settings it won't show the version of ipod software and the click buttons to restore the ipod or update it are grayed out. When I connect the ipod I get an error message "Some of the items in the itunes library were not copied to your ipod because your ipod software is too old. Go to Summary tab in ipod preferences and update to get the latest software update."
As mentoined, when I do that the update is not available. I have reset the ipod multiple times, restored it, reformatted the disk etc. With the ipod blank, I discovered it does NOT give this error when I connect it to an older imac g3 (go figure) and that it correctly shows the ipod system information and allows me to update it or restore it from itunes (7.0.2). If I then plug the ipod into the G4 it gives the same error message.
The fact that it works and syncs fine with another mac leads me to believe that it's not the ipod, but my system software on the G4 that is corrupted- there must be a settings file that is bad, I just don't know which one it is. Help!!

Is it possible that you have part of an old iTunes still installed on your computer? If so, take a look at the info I pasted below from the following article:Troubleshooting iTunes installation on Mac OS X
It's possible that clicking the iTunes icon in your Dock or double-clicking an iTunes icon on your desktop could open an older version of iTunes. Open iTunes from the Applications folder to be sure you are opening the right version:
    Double-click your hard disk.
    Double-click the Applications folder.
    Double-click the iTunes icon.
If you notice another copy of iTunes in the Dock after following these steps, here's a way to take care of that:
    Quit iTunes.
Drag the iTunes icon out of the Dock.
Drag the iTunes icon from the Applications folder to the Dock.

That comes with iOS 5 (Settings>General>About>Version) and only the 3G abd later iPods can go to iOS 5 or later
