RD440 Boot Options do not see HDs

The RAID 5 setup went fine and I can see the drive acknowlegded in the pre-boot. But the Bios does not see the drives as I look in the Boot Device Selection, boot options or SATA portion of Bios. I ran an Xenserver install, the install seemed to go fine, no hick-ups. Was expecting to need to select where to boot from, but can't find any HD to choose.
Any idea what I'm missing?

The redaction tool isn't available in the Standard edition.

Does the arrow and esc key works in Windows?
If it doesnt work in windows also then i can suggest you to try doing a hard reset and check..else could be a hardware issue

Satellite P305, boot options menu not show for usb flashdrive

P305S8822 Boot Option Menu did not show item for starting with USB flash drive. THere was an option for a usb external hard drive but that device was not connected while starting the computer. The usb FLASH DRIVE was connected. Does Satellit Laptop P305-S8822 have or supposed to have a boot option choice available for usb flash drive?

I don't believe computers of that vintage could boot from a USB connection. (But you have FireWire and modem ports.)

HP Pavilion dv5-1108ax, Windows Vista 32-bit: BIOS Boot Order does not see external eSATA HDD

I am trying to run some Linux OS (Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora) from my external USB 2.0/eSATA HDD on my laptop. I can boot from a USB connection but not from an eSATA connection. Is there any chance of updating the BIOS to support booting from eSATA? Is there something I am missing in the BIOS setup menu?

No the eSata port is not bootable.

I recently got a lab of 25 of these stations in and shortly I will be imaging them. I am using the Boot Image (x86) the ones that come with sccm 2012 and I downloaded the sccm driver cab from dell and imported the storage and raid drivers into the
boot image, yet every time I boot winpe to try to image the machine no hard drive is found.
I followed this thread at Dell

and seeming all these drivers are in the boot image (x86)

and still now hard drive seen when I boot winpe via sccm pxe.
Does anyone have any of these machines, or any advice for me I REALLY need to solve this, I been struggling for a day so far and getting nowhere fast.

Are you using the correct driver for the version of WINPE you are using?

8.1 code base.
So if you had a boot image based on WINPE 4.0, you would need to use a Windows 8 driver, etc.

T42 does not see hard drive

I have two T42, neither can see the hard drive. I have confirmed the drives are good by swapping them out to a T41 laptop and it boots fine. Bios or boot options do not see the hard drive. Is this damaged beyond repair?

If you are not having problems with the HDD in other ThinkPads then the problem is with the HDD controller on the systemboard itself. You could try to update your BIOS if you want, but this is a mechanical issue.
Replacing the systemboard is the correct solution here.

Windows boot option icon disappear!

Hi, I successfully installed Windows XP SP2 with bootcamp.
I started successfully Leopard and Windows many times, then I installed VMWARE Fusion and I choose to use the fisical Windows partition as a virtual machine.
Now I can choose to start windows or leopard only from bootcamp options in the preference of leopard or systemtray in windows: pressing "alt" button at startup shows me only MacOSX System and disappear windows disk Icons....
How can i reconfigure boot option to show the windows icon too ? I don't want to reinstall beacuse it runs correctly ! it seems only a boot configuration...
The console of leopard report something as com.appl.system service xml boot options do not match...

I know the way of selecting the boot drive( the way you mentioned)... My problem is after creating new partition with disk utility... I cann't any more boot to Win at startup. It seems that the Win startup partition is removed, but when I check it from OS in my FINDER, I can see the bootcamp partition and all my date inside..
So, I need to know how can I again activate booting option to Win at startup(or something like this)

First of all im new to Mac os.
i have installed windows 7 using boot camp and after it i tried to create a new partition from the main mac partition and it was created successfullly however now the windows 7 boot option is not available for some reason.
how can i have this option back?

You broke it by adding the extra partition, remove Boot Camp (read the directions as to how) and start again. Do not add partitions next time.
Do not use Disk Utility to remove the Boot Camp Partition, use it to remove any extra partitions.
Backup your machine now.

[SOLVED] 2010.05 images do not ´see´ my CDROM after initial boot.

I was pleased to see the new release images of 2010.05 appearing. I thought i´d try a fresh install, but on my 800mhz machine, the installer could not see the IDE CDROM on the second part of the booting process. I get the Arch menu and then when the installer looks for the CDROM to install Arch, it waits for 30 seconds and then can´t find it. Obviously the CD is readable because it booted initially. I´m guessing that whichever modules are loaded for this bit of the install, it hasn´t loaded the one I need. I can confirm that the latest cut of Debian Squeeze does not have this problem.
Can anyone help?

There are a few IDE controllers that are not supported properly yet by the new Linux libata subsystem. In old images, we offered an option to use the old "ide" subsystem instead of libata, support for that has been removed.
However, I doubt that you have one of the very few controllers that still don't work with libata. There is no way to tell unless you provide more details about your hardware - specifically, the mainboard chipset and/or ide controller.
A stupid, yet possible workaround: Write the image to USB too. Boot from the CD and have the USB inserted at the same time. It will start booting from the CD, but mount the file system from the USB afterwards and keep running from there.

HT5958 updated10.1.1 and just opened FC, potponed project & events updating (not realizing what that ment) and now can't seem to get back to that. The above thread say "choosing File Update Projects and Events" but I do not see that option in my menu ???

I updated Final Cut and I postponed updating Projects and Events (not understanding that this mean I would have nothing in FC when it opened!). Now I can''t find how to go back so i can update those. The help thread says to use "file > Update Projects and Events" but that opinion is not in my menu ????? I also restarted my laptop but that didn't give me the option either....

The easiest way to fix the hosts file is to restore it from a backup that predates the modification, or to copy the unmodified file from another Mac. If you can't do that, then do as below.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
open -e /etc/hosts
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Paste into a Terminal window by pressing command-V. A TextEdit window should open. At the top of the window, you should see this:

You may be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. Type carefully and then press return. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. Confirm. Quit Terminal.
If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator. Log in as one and start over.
That will fix the hosts file. There is now a copy of the old hosts file with the name "hosts~" in the same folder as "hosts". You can delete the copy if you wish. Don't delete the file named "hosts".

When start up I land into the Mac OSX Installer. Has my LION crashed or the HD is not responding?

Try booting while holding down the Option key but make sure there aren't any disks in the optical drive first.

I hate the new downloads-in-a-tab scheme. This was an unnecessary change in my book (if it aint broke, don't "fix it").
So in order to get it back, I performed the about:config browser.download.useToolkitUI change, but now all I get is a blank download window that pops up every time I download something.
Is there something else that I need to do? I've checked the change and it was saved, but it didn't resolve my issue as much as it just caused me a new issue.

I'm sorry but it's very hard to understand what you mean. What filter menu? In which program? Do you mean you're trying to use PSE as an external editor with some other asset management program? Which one?
