RDB install on VMS

I am trying to install the personal RDB program on an Alpha system (ver 7.1)
and I get the following error:
%DCL-W-ACTIMAGE, error activating image DTI$SHARE
-CLI-E-IMAGEFNF, image file not found MSC$DKA0:[SYS0.SYSCOMMON.][SYSLIB]DTI$SHAR
E.EXE;
this file is NOT on any of the installation
Can someone tell me what I have to do to get his working ??

You might try the comp.databases.rdb newsgroup; they seem to have some capable people there.

HTMLDB install on VMS 10.1.3

HTMLDB is not supported on VMS 10.1.3, per metalink. Since HTMLDB is basically PL/SQL packages, I want to run and create these new schemas in my new 10g database and run the apache server from a windows box (which my understanding is the reason HTMLDB is not supported is because apache is not supported on VMS). Has anyone done this? Does anyone know how I can get the PL/SQL code? Any thoughts, comments will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

In this install, there is a b16375_01.pdf that details the installation and requirements, XML DB and Oracle Text.

Can OEM 12c installed on VMs?

I checked oracle documentation regarding OEM 12c and seems did not specific if we can use VMs or not. But since so many components need to be installed and configured, I would like to see if anybody know this here.

Related question -- how much RAM and hard drive space has everybody allocated to their VM's?
Because my Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) and Oracle/Sun Ops Center on same box? was considered a small one, I've put the database repository and OMS all in the same server.
Because it has to fit both an OMS and Oracle Database SGA, I found that I could barely fit it inside about 6.5GB of RAM allocated to my VM. This is a lab environment on a host linux box with 8GB RAM.

Oracle RDB Install on Itanium

Pulled the RDB 7.2.1.2 for OpenVMS savesets down from the Oracle website to install on a HP Integrity rx6600 server running OpenVMS 8.3. Unzipped and copied (FTPed) savesets over to server. When I do the 4@sys$update:vmsinstal, I get following error message:
" excessive error rate reading rdbv72120..."
I KNOW this error has to do with me having NOT set the file attributes of the savesets.( ie, $ set file/att=(rfm=fix,lrl=???,rat=none) or something like that. I just need to know the exact file atributes to set these savesets to as I have not been able to find them documented anywhere. Once I get this info, I'll be good...

VMS new install - IP box issues

Installed my VMS and 2 IP boxes without issue. However, I am now seeing a problem between the IP boxes. I only have the 3 total units. While watching a channel on IP1, if I put the same channel on IP2, IP1 freezes, as if it were paused.
To correct the problem, I need to turn off IP2 then change the channel on IP1 to something different and then return to the original channel. Anyone else seeing this? We have to be able to watch the same channel on multiple TVs...

I did a bit of Googling after I've been working this issue for several hours straight, and it seems I have the dreaded "NF3 vs 6800" issue.
I have flashed the BIOS to clock the BFG 6800GT OC back down to 350/1000 and even went so far to push it back to 345/1000. I have turned fastwrites off, the hidden ATI/NV setting in the BIOS is turned off, I tried pushing the voltage to the card up to 1.6 and used NiBitor and RivaTuner to try and force the 2d/3d times to be the same.
Nothing worked. I'm still getting annoying "RGB pixilation" as well as periodic UI freezes for half a second. Called BFG and they said they knew of no issues, and after doing a bit of searching on this board, it seems to be an NForce vs. 6800 problem.
Has anyone got any other ideas before I go over to the darkside and purchase a VIA board?

May I know can VMS 2.1 and LMS 2.1 be installed in same server? If so, how about the sequence of installation? If LMS 2.1 is already installed on the server, do I need to install the VMS Common Services? Thanks

In VMS 2.1 bundle, RME and Security Monitoring Center are included. As I know, RME can receive syslog from switch/router/PIX and Security Monitoring Center can receive syslog from PIX. If I install these two applications on the same server, will there be problems about the syslog receive? Will the syslog messages mix-up? Thanks

please tell me how can I solve this problam.
I try to read and write on rdb database on VMS operating system from developer 2000. I can read and write through EXEC_SQL package but when open_connection open a session on system, the connection can't close with colse_connection because this function not closed the session actaully but only free the resource and memory. when the maximim number of session opened the program will stop with internal error the only thing I can close the session when I close the form, the session will close automaticly. if you know how can I close the session actaully please tell me or tell me another way to read or write on rdb.

There was no change.
My Oracle RDB ODBC driver was relatively recent but I decided to refresh it anyway. TaDa!
I believe IIS and Oracle RDB SQL/Services do not quite agree about client connections. I still see executors being created on the server when I think existing one's should be free to do the execution,... but I am not completely hanging my web server, and web clients are getting some response (data).
I'll take it. I can tune the lifetime of executors.

Unable to install 64-bit virtual machine on 870A Fuzion w/AMD Phenom X6 proc

Unable to get resolution from support after numerous attempts. I've enabled SVM feature from bios and also updated to latest version with no luck.
Installed Win 7 and running VMworkstation 7 - whenever installing 64bit VMs (eg. W2k8 R2) keep getting error that hardward assist virtualization technology not enabled.
Blew away OS and reinstalled with HyperV 2k8 R2 and not problem with creating 2k8R2 VMs that is 64 bit. Whenever installing any other flavor of 64bit OS, same error occurs.
Anybody that can point me in the right direction would be much appreciated.

Are you dual-booting? The software message suggest you have a software problem.
AMD and Microsoft are not the same kind of buddies Intel and Microsoft are, especially when it comes to 64bit systems.

Moving VMs from Standalone Hyper-V to Hyper-v Failover Cluster

Hello All.................I need to move Virtual Machines from Standalone Hyper-V based on Windows Server 2012 R2 to a Hyper-V Failover Cluster based on Windows Server 2012 R2.
- The VMs OS is Windows Server 2012 R2
- Applications installed on VMs are SCCM, SCOM, SharePoint, etc.
1. I am looking for a Checklist that I can run through and move them. To make sure I do not miss out anything.
2. Would a downtime be required in this scenario while the VM is being moved?
3. What requires special attention in this scenario?

So, I do not need to do anything and just simply add both the cluster and standalone into VMM and then simply use the Move option. Please, confirm if I have understood it correct.
Yes. But be carefull. First shut down your VM's
if possible and configure them in such a way they don't automatically start. If you install the SCVMM Agent, some Hyper-V related services are restarted, when some VMs start during that process you system may stall. I have seen this multipe times.
There is another dirty option that worked of us perfectly. Export the VMs. Then import those VMs to a local disk on one Hyper-V Server. Refresh the Hyper-V Server and Virtual Machines on that Hyper-V Server. Give it a few minutes. Then do
a Live Migration while at the same time makeing it "Highly Available" by moving it to your CSV. Works flawlessly. DO NOT IMPORT THE VMS TO YOUR CSV, otherwise you can't change it to "Highly Avaiable" unless you have
two CSVs. Importing it straight to a CSV does not make them Highly Available.

[Oracle VM 3.1.1] Fresh install, update python bindings on server failed

Hello,
I've installed the Server and Manager components. I'm trying to discover the VM server from the manager's web interface. I'm getting the following error message:
OVMAPI_4010E Attempt to send command: get_api_version to server: <Internal_IP_Of_Server> failed. OVMAPI_4004E Server Failed Command: get_api_version , Status: org.apache.xmlrpc.XmlRpcException: I/O error while communicating with HTTP server: Connection refused
Can I please get some advice on troubleshooting this?

P.S. I have both installed on VMs in VMWare. Dunno if this makes a difference....

EDIT2: I reinstalled the VM Server on a physical server and tried discovering it. I now get this error:

EDIT3: I tried to do this thing from the Oracle VM Manager directly and it worked. Well, at least it ADDED the VM Server.

NOTE: I tried a wget on both the manager and the server for this file and I was able to download it no problem. Is it really using the 0.0.0.0 IP address to try to download the file? Why?

Cisco vms 2.3 can't query to IDSM-2

I use Catalyst 6513 (Router IOS) + IDSM-2 and use Cisco VMS 2.3 to manage IDSM-2. I upgrade IDSM-2 from version 4 to version 5. However, after updating completely, I use Cisco VMS 2.3 to query to IDSM-2, I see a error:
"status: Error importing configuration files from the sensor - Unable to get sensor version from the sensor. Possible reason: X.509 certificate is invalid or sensor version was downgraded. "

Normally doing the following fixes the problem.
You need to regenerate the IDSMC Certificate and add the VMS as the trusted host to the sensor.
To generate the certificate do the following.
c:\progra~1\cscopx\mdc\apache\gencert.bat
where c: drive is the drive you installed your VMS.
After this is done, please restart the CiscoWorks Daemon Manager.
You will also need to generate tls key as well as manually re-install the TLS certificate on your sensor.
tls trusted-host from the IPS CLI and specify your VMS's IP address.
tls generate-key
no tls trusted-host ip-address (vms server ip)
tls trusted-host ip-address (vms server ip)

Linksys 1.0.0.0 VMS software and remote users

We need to give remote access to this software.. Remote destop into the server hosting the VMS doesn't seem to work as although you can RD in and get the main console software running, you just get a black screen in the camera picture area in both.
We had this problem a few weeks ago with our initial install of VMS and it was related to the screen resolution of the server running it. Once we went through a number of res settings, we found one that supported it.
This doesn't appear to be the issue in this case as have built a RD profile with the correct resolution with no result.
We need to make the playback option at least available to a couple of user who won't have physical access to the server.
Doesn't look like the VMS has a consoling option, so we can't run playback as a client ?..
anyone had any thoughts on this ?

I'd like to say it does.. Not really what I'm looking. The users have direct access to the cameras themselves via IP, that's not the problem..
Firewalling not an issue, they are using VPN connections into the site..
Don't want to install the whole VMS software on each client unless neccesary. Anyway the custom installation option allows you to install just the playback software by itself. This would be great if it wasn't the case that when you went to use the open recording option, the login dialog is stuck with the server as local machine and there seems to be no way to change this.
Can you install the playback module on its own ?. if not, whats the point of the custom installation option. Why would anyone want to install the main console and not the playback option?.
Can someone tell me were I need to go to repoint the playback module installed on the client PC's to the remote server as you don't appear to be able to do within the program.

VMS 2.1 IDS MC & VPN Routers MC Device Import Error

Just installed standalone vms 2.1 and attempted to import devices into IDS MC and VPN Routers MC, but I get errors. The IDS MC error I get is importing configuration files from the sensor Could not find version in

The VPN Router MC error goes something like import failed; check ssh configuration or password...don't remember the exact phrase...I configured the router for ssh by entering the crypto gen rsa ??? command, but still no success.
Any advice appreciated and thanks in advance. BTW, versions are IDS Module for 6509 3.0(5)s39 and VPN Router 12.2(T1).

Just try this : login as root; Run sysconfig-sensor; selec option 9; then 2; then 3; then 1;
This creates host key for your sensor. Then type x till it asks for reboot. Reboot it.
On VMS machine: Run C:\plink -ssh userid@ipaddress
userid = Netranger for sensor appliance and Cisco IDs for IDMs; ipaddress = IP of sensr
If it shows the warning like "warnig-Potential security breach; server
host key does not match the with info on putty", either server admin has changed
the host key or u connected to wrong machine which pretends to be server.
The new key fingerprint is : xxxx
xx:xx:...........
If u were expecting this change and trust the new key, enter "y" to update Putty' cache and continue...
Enter passwd of sensor.....Terminate the session by exiting.
