RDBMS-requirements for usage of  XI

Hello!
Could some one help me by RDBMS-requirements for XI?
a) for XI is either Oracle 10g or Microsoft SQL 2005 required (Yes/No)
b) SQL, JDBC, and ODBC drivers available for Oracle 10g and/or MS SQL Server 2005 (Yes/No)
c) use DBMS enforced referential integrity or program enforced referential integrity of data
d) standard pre-defined SQL queries and related calculations provided for use with industry standard reporting tools (Yes/No)
e) database monitoring tools be used to manage impending maintenance needs and potential problems and performance impacts (i.e., tool will monitor and detect prior to real problem occurring) (Yes/No)
Thank you!
Regards

Hi Peter ,
1. Its up to you weather you prefere oracle or SQL server(available in both) . The last XI I installed at client site with SP 16 was using Oracle 9.0 not 10.0.the required RDBMS is always bundled with netweaver(XI) suite so you do not need to bother about it and its version.
2. For JDBC connectivity (JDBC Adapter) you need to add driver for respective dababase to XI server. they are not shiped from SAP. you need to download them from vendors ie. Microsoft or Oracle website.( free download).
3. for database integrity, it is upto the driver what it support what no. For JDBC adapter features and limmitation read SAP note.
4. for point (d) and (e) I can just say that you can use stanadard SQL , can call procedures, use DML statements  and trasaction.Normally XI access data from RDBMS using interface tables.
Hope this will help..
Thanx & Regards

  • Usage decision -  characteristics relavent for usage decision

    Hi friends,
In usage decision screen, either all characteristics are shown or only characteristics relavent for usage decision is shown.
How do we make a charactertics as usage decision relavent, so that it is shown in usage decision screen by default.
    Regards
    CSN.

    hi
either all characteristics are shown or only characteristics relavent for usage decision is shown
Char relevent to UD are except follwing.
1.Char is skip -->you apply DMR for Char or at lot level in task list header or at char level.
2.Required char is not ticked in the Control indicator of cha.that means you have selected Optional char.
3.You have not selected task list indicator in QM view.
These are only possibilities that all char will not appear in the UD screen.

We do support usage of Adobe 7,8 , we don't care about DirectX version, not AntiVirus (worst case you'll need to exclude BO directories from scans).

  • RDBMS type for Action code 108

    Hi All,
I need to import several hundred users into ACS 4.2. So far I can import the users and groups with no problem, but most of the user use RSA Tokens for authentication. Unfortunately, the RDBMS guide for action code 108 does not list RSA Token as a valid external database. It list all the other types, but not RSA. I wonder if the documentation is incomplete or it was omitted on purpose.
    Thanks in advance,
    Stan

In previous versions the value would be "PASS_TYPE_SDI" referring to Security Dynamics who went on to become RSA.
Appliance versions have/could not support this because it required 3td party dlls and various open ports.
Maybe they quietly dropped it from all versions. In which case you'd be forced into using the generic RADIUS authenticator and setting up the RSA RADIUS server to receive the requests. Then, of course you'll be running 2 RADIUS servers and might ask if that makes any sense at all.

  • NWDI Stack requirements for NWDS, ECC CE 7.1 and PI 7.1

What is the requirement for NWDI 7.0 with respect to other usage types. I think the rule is this:
NWDI and NWDS (dev studio) should be on the same SP level, whereas NWDI can support simultaneous 7.0 and 7.1 track like Portal BI and PI?
Anyone care to comment or refute?
    Thanks
    Mikie Brogan

I am not aware if there is any such requirement other than the compatible java version.
NWDI doesn't support ABAP content, you will have to configure CTS+ and probably CTS+ with NWDI.
For NWDS - NWDI, no you do not need same versions, you need same java versions.
    I am using NWDS NW70 SP14 (have used SP8, SP10) with NWDI 7.0 SP18.
Make sure you ahve the relevant java versions.
If you plan to use NWDI70 with CE71, you would need to understand how to set dual java versions in NWDI and how to support it in track.
    That is also possible.

  • Invoice block for Usage Decision in QM

    Hi All,
My requirement is any Standard Configuration is there to block the invoice when the material is Waiting for Usage decision. We have a made a control key with invoice block and assigned in Material Master QM view, but the system is not blocking invoice, even the material is still in Quality inspection without any usage decision.
    regards
    Gibi Philip

    Hi ,
Have you checked in MIR4/MRBR , Whether you are getting any indicator below the filed Quality.
Also consider some of the help tips provided by SAP.
"If you only want to pay invoices, when the quality management process  has accepted goods or waived a goods receipt inspection, you must ensure  that invoices are not entered before goods receipt. You do this by planning GR-based invoice verification for the relevant vendors."

  • Recommended Requirements for Development Environment

    Hello,
what are recomended requirements for development enviroment for WebCenter. We intend to have JDeveloper and WebLogic server with WebCenter on our developer machines and we are wondering wht would be appripriate hardwer to run all of this smoothly.
For JDeveloper with the WebCenter extension, 2GB RAM should suffice and WL with WebCenter requires somewhere between 3-4GB. Do you think we really need 6-8GB RAM for developers? What processor power would you recomend?
    Thank you for your answers,
    Martin

    6-8 GB ram is overkill.
I can do the development quiet easy on a 4GB machine.
When i take a look at the memory usage of jdev and the integrated WLS they both sum up to 1.5 to 2GB.
if you however are planning on running a standalone WLS instead of the integrated WLS than you need somewhat more memory. Are you going to develop for webcenter spaces? If so, does every developer need a WLS with webcenter spaces installed? If so, 8GB ram is not overkill!
    So conclusion:
A modern processor. One of the latest core2duo or i5,i7 processors.
4GB ram when you use jdev + webcenter extension and run integrated WLS
6GB ram when you use jdev + webcenter extension + integrated WLS + standalone WLS
8GB ram if developers need their own instance of webcenter spaces.
I also think 64 bit OS realy helps a lot for this...
Currently i am working on a following machine (laptop)
    core2duo P8600 @2.4 Ghz
3GB ram (win xp 32 bit)
on this machine i use jdev + webcenter extension and integrated WLS. I can develop quiet easy but i have to restart jdev and the IWLS quiet often.
At my own laptop at home i have following setup:
    core2duo P9400 @2.53ghz
    4GB ram
jdev + wc extension + IWLS runs very good. Deploying goes faster, testing goes faster,...
I tried running webcenter spaces on that machine and i could wait ten minutes before a page loads. Realy not productive.
I need to do some development on webcenter spaces and my new laptop is currently in order:
    i7 720q @ 1.7ghz
    8GB ram
I hope i can run webcenter spaces on this...

    Hi,
Can anyone tell me what are the minimum system requirements for intalling Oracle Application Testing Suite?
    Thanks in Advance

    From the release notes (12.1.0.2).
    System Requirements
Oracle Application Testing Suite has the following system requirements:
    4
    3.1 Oracle Functional Testing/OpenScript
Oracle Functional Testing’s OpenScript scripting platform has the following system
    requirements:
    ■ Operating System (32-bit and 64-bit versions): Windows XP, Windows Vista,
    Windows 2003, Windows 7, Windows 2008
    ■ Memory: Minimum 1 GB
    ■ System: x86, 32-bit or 64-bit processor, 2.6 GHz or faster
    ■ Disk Space: 4 GB minimum
    ■ Browser: Internet Explorer 7.x, 8.x., 9.x and Firefox 3.5/3.6, 6.x
    3.2 Oracle Load Testing
Oracle Load Testing has the following system requirements:
    ■ Operating System (32-bit and 64-bit versions): Windows XP, Windows Vista,
    Windows 2003, Windows 7, Windows 2008, Windows 2008 R2. Oracle Enterprise
    Linux 5.1, 5.2 64, 4u8.
    ■ Memory: Minimum 2 GB.
    ■ System: x86, 32-bit or 64-bit processor, 2.6 GHz or faster
    ■ Disk Space: 10 GB minimum free (at least 3 GB free on the system drive)
    ■ Browser: Internet Explorer 7.x, 8.x, 9.x, Firefox 3.5/3.6, 6.x
    ■ Database: Oracle EE 10g or 11g, XE 10g
    ■ Application Server: Oracle WebLogic 11g (10.3.5.0). Oracle Application Testing
Suite requires the standard WebLogic Server installation (which includes jrocket
jdk.). It does not support generic versions of WebLogic Server installation (such as
    those that use wls1035_generic.jar).
    ■ Oracle Load Testing Agent also supported on Linux 32-bit & 64-bit, in addition to
Windows 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems listed above
Note: These are minimum requirements only and actual
requirements for the Oracle Load Testing Server will vary depending
on the size and configuration of your load test. If you are running
larger load tests, of greater than 1000 Virtual Users, you should
consider deploying Oracle Load Testing on a faster server class
    machine with additional RAM recommended.
Note: Oracle recommends running the Oracle Load Testing Server
and Agents on separate systems for production load testing. The
amount of memory required on the Oracle Load Testing Agent
systems may increase based on the number of Virtual Users that will
be assigned to run on each Agent. For more information, visit the
QA/Testing Technology Center on Oracle Technology Network or
    contact your Oracle representative.
    5
    3.3 Oracle Test Manager
Oracle Test Manager has the following system requirements:
    ■ Operating System (32-bit and 64-bit versions): Windows XP, Windows Vista,
    Windows 2003, Windows 7, Windows 2008, Windows 2008 R2. Oracle Enterprise
    Linux 5.1, 5.2, 4u8.
    ■ Memory: Minimum 2 GB.
    ■ System: x86, 32-bit or 64-bit processor, 2.6 GHz or faster
    ■ Disk Space: 10 GB minimum free (at least 3 GB free on the system drive)
    ■ Browser: Internet Explorer 7.x, 8.x, 9.x, Firefox 3.5/3.6, 6.x
    ■ Database: Oracle EE 10g or 11g, XE 10g
    ■ Application Server: Oracle WebLogic 11g (10.3.5.0). Oracle Application Testing
Suite requires the standard WebLogic Server installation (which includes jrocket
jdk.). It does not support generic versions of WebLogic Server installation (such as
    those that use wls1035_generic.jar).
    3.4 Additional Notes
The following are additional notes about system requirements:
    ■ The ATS installer can automatically install and configure an Oracle 10g Express
Edition (XE) database for use with Oracle Load Testing and Oracle Test Manager.
Although this is useful for demos, for production usage switching to Oracle's 11g
Enterprise Edition database is highly recommended. Oracle 11g Standard Edition
and Oracle 10g EE or SE are also supported.
    ■ System memory requirements do not take into account other processes that may
be running and using memory on your system, reducing free uncommitted
    memory available.
    ■ When installed on the same machine, Oracle Load Testing and Oracle Test
Manager will run on the same server and use shared system resources. Oracle
Functional Test/OpenScript is a separate application that have its own memory
    and CPU requirements.
    ■ The ATS products will run in 32-bit compatibility mode when installed on 64-bit
operating systems. It is possible for Oracle Application Testing Suite to be installed
on an existing WebLogic server. However, if the pre-installed WebLogic server is
JRockit plus WebLogic (64-bit) environment, some functions in Oracle Application
Testing Suite will not work properly. Oracle Application Testing Suite can be
    installed on a 32-bit WebLogic, but not a 64-bit.
    ■ The legacy Oracle Functional Testing, VB-based scripting platform and associated
components (such as Job Scheduler) are no longer included with the ATS installer
Note: These are minimum requirements only and actual
requirements for Oracle Test Manager will vary depending on the
quantity of test assets stored and number of concurrent users
accessing the application. If you have a large quantity of test cases,
requirements or issues stored and/or are deploying Oracle Test
Manager for a team greater than 10 users, you should consider
deploying Oracle Test Manager on a faster server class machine with
    additional RAM recommended.

  • System Requirements for installing Windows Advanced Server2003 & SapBW 3.0b

Cud someone lemme know I want 2 install Win Adv Server'03 with Sap-BW 3.0b in my laptop. It has 100 gb hdd & 512 mb ram 1.73 Ghz m processor??

    Kiran,
what is your question ? you want to know if you can install the same ? - the answer would be yes .. but then questions would be :
    1. What DB are you using ?
    2. What version of BW3.0b are you using ? - IDES or NON IDES ?
refer the quicksizing document available on the support portal to estimate your memory requirements...
Your memory looks very less... 500 MB would be enough only for the OS and Application - you will run out of memory for DB and other users ... 1 to 2 GB would be comfortable....
Teh thumb rule for the same is :
500 MB for Application and DB ( It depends on DB usage ...)
300 MB per user ( front end + backend )
    Additional Memory requirement for OS....

  • Option to see memory requirements for EXS samples?

This may be an ignorant question, but I'm curious if there is an option in the EXS to see how much memory a particular patch will require, similar to the way Kontakt shows you this information while browsing for a patch. I find it very useful information, as loading a great sounding but large sample instrument may prohibit loading further instruments. Knowing this before loading, I have a better idea of "where I have room to splurge" so to speak.
Thanks in advance for your help and reply!

s there anyway to see how much RAM is required for an EXS
instrument BEFORE you load it? How about amount of samples
    in a patch?
Not that I know of, but it would be a useful feature. There is a memory usage window, but it doesn't include samples loaded unfortunately.
In short, if your instrument has 345 megs of samples to load, then 345 megs of ram it will take to load them all in, with virtual memory off (if you're using 32-bit mode, then it will take more ram).
In streaming mode, since you are only loading small bits into ram at any one time, you don't really have to worry about RAM.
You can always check OSX's activity monitor to look at overall RAM useage.
The basic instrument contains 88 samples (it says 88 unresolved,
    what does this mean?
The instruments contain a pointer to where each sample is on disk. "Unresolved" means that the sample that the EXS instrument points too is not at that location on disk.
It's not a big problem - if the EXS can't find a sample it needs on loading, it will search your disk to find out where you've put it. This takes a little time, and is why instruments might take longer to load the first time. Once it has found where the sample is, it writes the new location back to the instrument, so the next time you load it, the EXS won't have to go hunting for it.
The Project Manage can resolve these references by doing the same thing to individual instruments or all instruments on your drive, but it takes a little while to run.
I know that both are small files and the differences are minimal,
but for the sake of understanding the concepts presented above,
since both contain the same amount of samples, would they both
take the same amount of RAM? Or because the velocity blend is a
larger file, does it take more ram? If you like the sound of both
programs equally, which would be the better choice based on
    resource allocation?
The size of the instrument file is completely irrelevant - it is miniscule in the whole sceme of things. The only thing that "really" takes up RAM is the samples themselves. Oh, and the EXS "shares" RAM too, so if you have two instances of the EXS with the same instrument loaded, the necessary samples are only loaded once.
This is also good for various articulations that sometimes might share samples - if a needed sample is already in memory, Logic won't load a second copy.
I'm probably reading too much into this topic, but it would be
helpful to understand how all this stuff works!
I really think you're worrying about this stuff too much. You have 5 gig of RAM for goodness sake! Build the setup you want, and if - *only if* you have resource problems then start looking at alternatives. With your rig, I can't see that you're gonna have many problems. It would be different if you were on a 1gig Powerbook or something, but trust me, you're gonna be fine.
My suggestion to you Jonathan is to turn streaming off, set up your ideal working environment, and do some test pieces to see what the performance is like. If you really start hammering the RAM, turn virtual streaming on, and see how that works for you.
I really think (as I've said before) you seem to be worrying about problem solving before you even have a problem! Just enjoy your copious amounts of RAM, you lucky so-and-so...!

  • Requirements for user authentication

In my trials of configuring the software, it seems that the only option of providing user access authentication is via LDAP integration. This seems a heavy requirement for non-enterprise usage.
I created a default directory service, but cannot enable access control without setting up distributed access, which seems to require LDAP. Installing LDAP has it's own set of prerequisites. Is all this really necessary? Am I misunderstanding the documentation?
    Thanks,
    Sean Wyatt

    Dear sean.wyatt,
LDAP is not the only option for user-auth. There are key files and digest files. Or you have some reason to use only LDAP.

  • Are there requirements for deterministic data messaging for distributed LabVIEW applications across an Ethernet/IP network?

Our company, RTI, just entered the Alliance program at NI recently. We are curious if power users of LabVIEW have requirements for running distributed, networked multiple LabVIEW applications in a real-time, deterministic manner? We are not attempting to make this a sales call, but if we should move forward with development of VI's that would allow distributed LabVIEW applications. We have already scoped out the effort but would desire guidance on VI layout, descriptions and ways to give a "LabVIEW" experience and not a disjointed VI that looks unprofessional. We are not sure if demand exists for this requirement. We would like to talk with
and investigate what LabVIEW users want. We have attached a brochure on this real-time data messaging technology for your review. Maybe there is no need and we apologize for taking up NI Developer Zone bandwidth and your valuable time. We look forward to your responses.

We are developing applications which have a distributed layout. E. g. we have 2 or more test places which have no user interface and 1 place where all configuration and monitoring and data storage takes place. We use TCP/IP for the inter computer communication. For this purpose we have developed a library which has a similar interface and usage as the queue VIs from LV 6.0.2. We support automatic reconnect on TCP/IP level and an acknowledged transfer so the application programmer can choose to do some temporary storage on the local machine if the server part is not running for sometime. We have not seen any market for that so we do not plan to sell it.
From a lecture at the NI VIP days in Munich in 2001 personal from Siemens A&D stated to
get a real time like behaviour over ethernet with TCP/IP you have to take care that the load will not exceed 30% of the bandwidth.
