RDBMS Synchronization Options

I use Cisco ACS 3.3 version. When i want to configure RDBMS Synchronization i can't see the table "FTP Setup Options". I needed this table to configure FTP with the purpose of adding some user options.
Somebody knows the solution for this problem ?

Although not strictly supported you can make the software image run like the appliance
csutil -setPlatform appliance
This will then enable the appliance features

  • RDBMS Synchronization problem in ACS Appliance 3.3

    Hi,
I was adding multiple AAA Clients on ACS Appliance using RDBMS Synchronization option I followed the complete steps but failed to synchronize accountActions.csv file on ACS my ftp server is working fine and returned the logs saying "accountActions.csv file read recieved file successfully size 0 bytes 0.00 kbps" and RDBMS synchronization logs ACS reported as "No import CSV file on ftp server - nothing to process" I have attached related screen shots. Any help on this issue will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance
    Best Regards,
    Ahmed

The format of the accountsaction.csv file is incorrect as a result of which the RDBMS Synchronization is not executed correctly.
I have attached a sample accountsAction.csv file for you.
    (i) The AAA Client C7609-X with the ip address 10.10.10.10 has been added with the shared secret key as mikey and is is registered with TACACS+
(ii) The NDG michasisX has been added.
(iii) The device C7609-X has been added to the NDG michasisX
Place the file in the FTP and try performing an RDBMS synchronization. Restart the ACS services.
Then you can add the devices as per the sample file attached.
Also check if the file name is exactly the same in the RDBMS Synchronization page in the ACS
    Hope this helps,
    Soumya

  • RDBMS Synchronization

The user guide for ACS for Windows ver4.0 states that Cisco ACS can use RDBMS to synchronize its database with a third party RDBMS system and only one primary ACS server needs to interact with the third party system and the other ACSs in the network can be updated by this primary ACS using RDBMS synchronization.
However, like many other features that suppose to work (e.g. domain stripping for MS AD) this too does not seem to work and there is no detailed documentation on how it actually does it.
The procedure stated in user guide fails and there are gaps in the documentation.
Can someone refer to any documentation other than the User Guide for instructions/details of this functionality?
    Thanks in advance.

I think the easiest solution is to have a single ACS that is populated via RDBMS Sync. This ACS becomes the replication "master" that then pushes its config down to a set of "slaves".
That is the easiest method but replication is a destructive write onto the slave - so you may choose not to do this.
An alternative is to use the Sync Partners config (part of RDBMS Sync) which attemtps to process actions in the sync table on multiple ACSs. For this to work you need the "other" ACSs to have the RDBMS Sync'ing ACS server in their network config db.
You need to make sure that ACS can write to the transaction table too (note CSV datasources no good) in case one of the other ACSs is down.
If you're having problems check the rdbms sync CSV & service log on the "master" ACS and the csauth service log on the "slave" for errors.

  • Audio files won't auto-sync in Premiere CC - synchronize option is grayed out

I just started using Premiere CC and am trying to synchronize three cameras and one additional audio source using the new auto-sync feature - which syncs by waveform.  Even if I'm just selecting two audio clips on the timeline, right-clicking on the clips brings up the menu with the "synchronize" option grayed out - not available.  Why should this be?
I'm mixing clips from two Canon T4i files with audio, multiple Red clips with audio, and an mp3 file from an Edirol recorder.
Premiere just doesn't seem to want to even attempt an auto-sync with these files. Even if I unlink audio from video and then try to sync audio - no "synchronize" option.
I'd really appreciate any ideas or suggestions anyone might have on this.
    Rob

It just doesn't work with separate audio clips.  This is known.  But I've never seen the option grayed out completely.  Not sure what would cause that.
You're sure all the camera clips have audio?  You can put them in the sequence and see the waveform?

  • RDBMS Synchronization with a .CSV file

Good morning. I am trying to create a testable .csv file that I can import into our ACS on a prescheduled basis.
Here are my questions about this process:
    1. Do I need to use the PASS_Expire action or is there a STOP_DATE? I have looked at the codes and didn't really see one.
    2. Is there a way that I can extract a copy of the dump.txt or get my actual database exported to a different system?
    3. What are the group's recommendations on synchronization? Are there some lesson's learned I should look out for?
    Thanks

  • Email Synchronization Option

I have my Blackberry set up to access my ISP POP account and a Gmail account. I use the BIS service.  I would like to check my emails on my Blackberry, but also to interfere as little as possible with any emails that may be at my ISP or Gmail.  Should I check or uncheck the option that says "Synchronize deleted items between this mailbox and my device."

if you are referring to the check mark in email settings within desktop manager... you installed desktop manager incorrectly, you should have installed using the option PERSONAL EMAIL.

  • Anyone NOT seeing a "turn off wireless synchronization" option when accessing through Address Menu Options?

Wireless synching is preventing calendar from synching through laptop [wouldn't mind except that the wireless synching isn't so the calendar is empty]. All instructions assume that there's an optiont to turn this off under the app Menu and Options...I don't...and see that others have had the same problem just not sure of the fix. Have a Curve 9300 and BB 6.0.0. Bundle 2391. Annoyed...shouldn't be this difficult!

    Hey djbmcmur,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
Do you have a Gmail, Yahoo or Hotmail account currently setup on the BlackBerry?  You can look under Options>Advanced Options>Service Book for anything that says - EMAIL (SYNC).  If you have any of these, it means you have wireless sync available.  You can delete these service books.

  • RDBMS Synchronization Import Definitions

    Hi,
we want to automatically sychronize our ACS server with an external database including user, groups, network devices and command authorization sets.
As read in the RDBMS sychronization import definitions there is no possibility to import "command authorization sets".
Is this correct or does anybody knows if there is a way to do this with ".csv-files"?
    thanks for your answers.
    Torsten Waibel

If the guide has the actions to import command authorization sets then it is possible otherwise then not possible:

  • ACS RDBMS Synchronization

I have been reviewing the ACS 4.0 documentation and want to know if there are any options available for synchronizing the DB using ODBC on the Solution Engine. Looking for something other than FTP, if available.

Like Jeff said - not supported.
The reason is because ODBC can require a 3rd party driver and the appliance is "hard".
Although common ones could be loaded, there tends to be regular security vulnerabilities (esp in jet) that would require constant patching/updating.
Of course you can still manage DBSync in your own DB, you just need to export to csv to get it actioned.

  • Feature request: improved interface for 'synchronize' option

    Hi,
sometimes I right-click a package and select 'synchronize with database'. There's one thing that jdeveloper wants to synchronize all the time, but I don't want it to (something I need later, so I don't want to synchronize that particular thing yet).
Currently, you can only 'synchronize all' or individually perform all synchronization tasks. I would like a 'synchronize all but ... ' feature. Or, in other words, maybe a set of checkboxes so you can select what to synchronize and what not? The 'synchronize all' button ould then just check all boxes, and there could be a 'none' button as well, and an 'invert selection' button.
The 'ok' button would then perform the synchronization, and there should be a 'cancel' button.
(Currently, the naming of the 'ok' button is inconsistent. 'ok' implies that it will perform an action after clicking it. It should actually have been called 'close' since it merely closes the dialog)

Where replrec.dll is supposed to be? On the WebServer or Database Server? And if the answer is on the Webserver, how can i install it?
    Thank you,

    Hi biionut,
Did you install SQL Server 2012 Replication Components on the IIS server?  The steps to install replication components are covered in
How to: Install SQL Server Replication Components.
Also, is your IIS server running 64-bit Windows?  If so you will need to allow 32-bit applications to run on the IIS server:
    cscript %SystemDrive%\inetpub\AdminScripts\adsutil.vbs set w3svc/AppPools/Enable32bitAppOnWin64 1

  • Deleting or Renaming the AccountAction.csv in RDBMS synchronization

    Good morning all,
    I am trying to finalize a process using the RBDMS Sync on Cisco ACS 4.1 SE. The process will get my AccountActions.csv file, but does not seem to want to rename it. I have the synch occuring every morning at 0300. I guess one question would be, if the file does not change, what will occur? I get an error like this;
Could not delete CSV file on FTP Server - may process same actions again. (The file may be in use).
I have set up the FTP server to allow deletion and renaming from this login.
Any help or direction would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Dwane

I would schedule something to rename the account actions csv on the ftp server.. have it run at 04:00
That way you know it done. Otherwise ACS will simply process all the same actions again.
This is because RRBMS sync was designed to work with proper databases. There is a field to indicate a row has been processed, but csv files are read only thanks to the retarded Microsoft csv driver.

  • Podcast Synchronization of Ipod and Hard Drive

    Hi,
I'm fairly new to the whole iTunes/iPod thingy, so this question might sound stupid, but what I wanna do is the following:
I've downloaded various podcast episodes of different podcasts to my hard drive. For some podcasts, I want to begin with the first episode and catch up with everything, and so I also downloaded those.
Now, my iPod has only limited memory space left, so I want to have the first episodes on my iPods to listen to them, and then gradually replace them with the next expisodes.
However, the synchronize option doesn't work here at all (or I'm too stupid to use it). And neither do I want to manually put the episodes on my iPod because this would be rather time-consuming.
First, I unticked the more recent episodes (those I don't want to listen to right now) in iTunes on my harddrive and figured, if I then click on sychronize (all), it would transfer all selected episodes. Well, that didn't work. It still put the deselected episodes on my iPod. Then I thought I would select certain podcasts and only synchronize those, but it still put all the deselected episodes for these podcasts on my iPod.
The options like "sychronize newest episodes" and similar ones don't work either.
So, for me, it would appear to be the very simplest solution to have a sychronize option like "synchronize all selected episodes" in the menu but no, there is none like this (I'm using iTunes 7). I have to admit I've only been introduced to the whole Apple / iTunes thingy because I got an iPod as a present and I have already found way too many things that are way too complicated and not practical, so this just seems to be another one of these issues. I would love if someone could prove me wrong and teach me how to accomplish what I described above without having to manually move around episodes every other day.
And another rather confusing thing: initially, I had set iTunes to download the latest episode for a given podcast after a refresh. Then, when I realized I wanted to start with the earlier episodes and save some memory space, I set it so it would do nothing. Now, however, it really does nothing. It doesn't even display when a new episode is available. For example, I had the latest episode of an extensive podcast series and deleted it in my iTunes because it took a lot of memory space. But now I don't even see this episode any longer. I'm sorry, I'm not good at describing problems but what I want is, I want to see a list of all available episodes that will be updated regularly but I don't want the latest episodes to be downloaded automatically.. how in the world can I do that?
Sorry for the long post, I'm just getting a bit frustrated after having spent half a day on trying to figure these seemingly simple issues out
Thanks a lot for any help!
iPod Nano   Windows XP   iTunes 7

You can delete songs from your iTunes/computer hard drive after transferring them to the iPod, and for this you need to set your iPod to manage the iPod content manually.
However, storing music on your iPod and nowhere else is an extremely risky option because when (and not if) there comes a time to restore your iPod, which is a very common fix for iPod problems, then all the music would be erased. If you no longer have the music in iTunes (or any other back up), then all that music would be lost.
At the very least back up your music to either cd or dvd before deleting it, particularly any purchased music/videos, as this would have to be bought again if it were lost. See this about backing up media.
How to back up your media in iTunes.
What if the iPod were lost/stolen/needed repair? Again, the music would lost. I strongly recommend a back up, and if computer hard drive space is in short supply, you should seriously consider an external hard drive. They are not expensive, and the cost is well worth it when compared to the loss of all your precious music.

  • Project Server 2010 - Active Directory Enterprise Resource Pool Synchronization limitations

    Greetings again.
I have a quick question about the limitations of Active Directory Enterprise Resource Pool Synchronization.  Specifically, what has your experience
been with extremely large numbers of users (10k plus).  Is anyone aware of a
practical limit of users in your AD group you would recommend when using the
Schedule Synchronization feature on a nightly or weekly basis?
There is a caveat to this question however.  The client has decided (perhaps for some misinformed reasons) to allow access for every user, to every
project site, within their PWA environment.  They’ve selected the View Project Site option within the
Categories for the Team Members PWA Group for which 90% of their intended users reside.  So when we ran a couple test syncs in DEV with a smaller AD group of about 8,000 users, the sync understandably
lasted upwards of 18 hours.  Obviously unacceptable for a PROD environment on a nightly basis and not necessarily ideal for a weekly sync either.
Experience in addition to documents like these, “Best
practices for managing a large number of resources in Project Server 2010” tell me that we are way over the practical limit of a scheduled resource pool synchronization...IF
the client really desires that all users access all their sites.  But before I submit my recommendations, I wanted to check with the community just in case others may have found a way to synchronize large numbers of users (10k plus) on a nightly or weekly
basis, within a reasonable time frame AND allowed all users to access all sites within PWA.
    What do you think?
As always, thanks for your help.
    Chris Addis - MCTS

    Hello Hrishi.
My delayed response has been due to a large amount of testing we have been performing on this particular topic.  Here is an update, please feel free to provide feedback.
We went back to testing and spent more time reviewing the documents:
Best practices for managing a large number of resources in Project Server 2010 and
SharePoint Server 2010 capacity management: Software boundaries and limits.  Our team interpreted those documents as saying, 1,000 security
scopes per site is a recommended limit.  It does not say it’s a hard limit, just a recommended limit.  “When the recommended unique security scope boundaries are exceeded, performance issue can occur.”
So we decided to perform some tests (31 in total) to try and get a gage of what we are seeing.
We needed to establish a baseline first.  So we performed a series of 23 Active Directory Resource Pool Synchronizations with various settings in a clean, Out of the Box, environment in order to see some consistent numbers.  Here is it’s summary:
Our AD group of 8,000 users took about 32 minutes, on average, every time to sync.  The difference between the first sync and last sync differed only by 1-3 minutes.
Adding 40 project sites increased the average sync time from 32 to 120 minutes.
Adding 100 users to each of those 40 project sites, did not increase the sync times.
One setting (identified at this time) reduced the synchronization time.  It was the
Project Site Permissions check box found within the Project Web App > Server Settings > Project Site Provisioning Settings area.  By deselecting this check box we reduced or synchronization time back to the 32 minute
    average.
The View Project Site check box within the Project Web App > Server Settings > Manage Groups > Team Members group had no apparent effect on the sync times besides what we had gleaned from the Microsoft documentation.
Naturally, this left us with a problem.  As I’m sure you know, by deselecting the check box (Project Site Permissions), our project sites are now (figuratively speaking) orphans with no connection to the parent site.  This generates
a new set of issues.  For example:
Newly created project sites cannot be accessed by the owner and team members.  They will require someone like the farm admin to come in behind them and add the intended users to the project site along with their required permissions.
All current and futures sites will no longer have users added via the standard method of building a team and publishing the project, but will have to be added manually.
You can use the Synchronize option found within Project Web App > Server Settings > Project Sites page, but that kinda defeats the purpose.  It would require constant updating on a per site basis to keep up with
PM changes.  Not very sensible, but it does work.
With this baseline information, we moved our tests into our DEV environment which somewhat mimics our PROD environment.  This environment has 352 project sites and we performed 8 tests.  This is where we had some large sync time numbers.
Here is the DEV test summary:
With the Project Site Permissions check box cleared, our AD group of 8,000 users took on average 30 minutes to sync.  This was in line with our baseline times.  With the exception of one test sync that took 99 minutes to complete.
That anomaly is acquiescent with what I’ve seen over the years.  Sometimes syncs do some unusual things.
With the Project Site Permissions check box selected, our AD group of 8,000 users took on average 690 minutes (11.5 hours) to sync.  Unacceptable of course.
So here’s what we’ve learned when dealing with extremely large numbers of active directory users in your Resource Pool sync:
We did not see a decrease in subsequent sync times after the initial Active Directory Resource Pool Synchronization as some might expect.
Our attempt to decrease sync time via the option of removing the View Project Sites was not successful.  (Unless we interpreted Microsoft's document incorrectly.)
However, our interpretation of the recommended software boundaries and limits of SharePoint Server 2010 as it pertains to security scopes per site at 1,000, appears to be correct.
Using the option of clearing the Project Site Permissions does produce a reduction in AD sync time, but at a cost segregating your project sites and thus the creation of new processes of maintaining them.
I’ll remind others that these results are particular to our environments, there may still be exceptions yet to discover.  Others may see numbers contrary to ours.
The biggest surprise to some members on our team (myself excluded) was that we did not see a reduced sync time after any of our initial syncs.  Some are under the impression that after your initial sync, you should see reduced sync times.  I haven’t
found that to be the absolute case in all situations, just in some situations.  The reason for this still eludes me.  Any thoughts would be appreciated.
I’ll let this sit a bit longer, but if no one disagrees with the results, I think we have our answer:
The number of project sites directly affects your Active Directory Resource Pool Synchronizations if you are using the
Project Site Permissions option.  If you plan on synchronizing over 1,000 users
and you have a large number of project sites, proceed with the knowledge that you may have performance issues and long sync times.
As always, I’d love to hear from you or others just in case I’m missing something.
    Chris Addis - MCTS
