RDP to Windows 8 or 8.1 issues - admin or console connection not working

Hi,
I have a number of issues when connecting to my Win8 Pro (and now Win8.1 Pro) machine via RDP. First off, I know that most of the issues I am about to list below should technically be resolved if I connect to the console or admin session of my machine, however
they don't.
The issues I am having are:
1. If the user is already logged in, when I connect I get a black screen for a few minutes before I can actually see the desktop, etc
2. If there is no user logged in already, then when I connect I get a black screen and then never actually see the desktop, therefore I have to reboot the machine, physically log into the machine and then I am able to RDP successfully.
Note: I have done some research on issues # 1 & 2 and I think this is because of my Nvidia drivers - as I have a Nvidia GTX660 Ti installed.
Although issues #1 and #2 are annoying, they are nothing like the issue I am experiencing below:
3. Once I am logged in and can access and use the machine, no matter if I am connected to the console session of the machine or not, I can't run most applications. For example if I start Command Prompt, or try and access any Control Panel item, or System
Properties, etc I get the following error:
"The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142). Click OK to close the application."
4. In addition, I can't do any kind of administrative function on the machine I am RDP'ing. I can't install software, I can't access any form of system setting, I can't power on VMs in VMware Workstation, etc.
The user I am logging in as is a local administrator and I am connecting to (or at least I am trying to) connect to the console session of the machine. I have tried this from the following different setups:
1. Another Windows 8.1 Pro running mstsc /admin and just normal mstsc
2. From my Mac using Microsoft Remote Desktop app and ensuring I select the "Connect to Console session" option
TROUBLESHOOTING:
================
In order to attempt to resolve this problem, I have done the following troubleshooting:
1. From the problematic Win8.1 Pro machine, I have RDP'd (via mstsc /admin) to my other Win 8.1 Pro machine. I have tested running cmd, installing apps, etc, etc and I have been able to do everything just as I should. To me this means that there is some
sort of configuration issue between the two machines.
2. Based on the information from #1 above, I have compared the following settings between the two machines and have set them to be exactly the same:
- User Accounts - same settings (local admin, etc) + UAC disabled
- Windows Firewall - both on and set to default settings
- Local Groups have the same members - Local Administrators, Remote Desktop Users, etc
- Remote Desktop enabled and set to least restrictive option (less secure option)
- Local Security Policy - Checked Local Security Settings to ensure all settings are exactly the same
- Local Group Policy - in particular for Remote Desktop settings - both exactly the same configuration
- No additional 3rd party apps are installed on either machine which I think could cause these issues (other than Nvidia Graphics Card drivers on my problematic machine)
3. Done extensive internet research and can't seem to find any information or people having the same issue as myself
4. Clean install of Windows 8 Pro and tested - same issue. Installed all latest drivers, Windows Updates, etc c- same issue. Upgraded to Windows 8.1 Pro - same issue.
5. Created a new local administrator user and tested - same issue
6. Checked event viewer and can't seem to find any specific error that would give insight into what is causing this issue
At this point, I have come to a dead-end as I am not sure what else I can try to resolve this issue. If issues #1 and #2 can't be resolved, then I am happy to "live" with them, however the rest of the issues are really frustrating as they are preventing
me from easily achieving what I need to.
If anyone can point me in the right direction or has some insight into these issues, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks very much
Regards,
Luca

Hi Roger,
Thanks for the reply. I should have mentioned that test result before, sorry I forgot. If I log into the problem machine locally with the same user I am logging into when logging in via RDP, I can run cmd, I can install apps, I can do everything as I should
be able to as I am a local admin and have disabled UAC.
If however I log in with the same user via RDP (whether or not I have already logged into that machine locally with the user or not), I have the problem of no admin access. This is why I think it is a problem accessing the console or admin session of the
machine.
Sorry, but I am not sure by what you mean by this question "If so, how about change other computer to
remote to this problematic Win8.1 Pro machine?"
Thanks for your help
Regards,
Luca

Everything seems to work, besides at times (a couple times today) it terminates his ethernet card/connection. I would re-image his computer but he has several applications and it would take several hours, so I am hoping someone has an idea to fix this issue. So I was trying to figure out why he did not get the prompt to login and why it's not in the systray and it appears to not have completed the install? I checked the add/remove programs, its not listed within their, I also checked the registry and found nothing for endpoint within their, but the files are within c:\program files\novell\zenworks endpoint security.
    I have also tried uninstalling it but that fails due to it "not being installed", and it will not reinstall over itself either.

    If you are searching the registry, check for the "Senforce" string. It should be at HKLM\Software\Senforce
    Try running the install program for the ZSC with the following command line:
    setup.exe /V"STUNINSTALL=1"
    If you've specified an uninstall password, try this one instead:
    setup.exe /V"STUNINSTALL=1 STUIP=password"" (please note the double quote at the end)
    Let me know if that helped you.

    Hi,
    When you try to start the Remote Destop Connection, what errors it showed out?
    Could the other PCs connect this PC with the RDC?
    So you have read this blog?
    RDP connections might fail due to a problem with KB2621440 - MS12-020
    Did you reinstalled the KB2621440?
    Besides, did you follow this guide to enable the RDC connection?
    Connect to another computer using Remote Desktop Connection
    And also this guide?
    Why can’t I connect using Remote Desktop Connection?
    Please take a check with those settings again.

  • EPM 11122 to 11123 upgrade issue: Links in Workspace does not work

    Hi John & All,
    We have an existing EPM 11.1.2.2 installed on Linux & windows platforms. This is a planning & HFR domain. Except FDM, Dimension server, HFR all other services are out of Linux server.
    Linux - ServerA (Physical server). However we access all URLs using a different DNS alias ServerC which points to ServerA
    Windows - ServerB
    Followed  http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E40248_01/epm.1112/epm_install/frameset.htm?ch10s05.html for upgrade.
    Installation and configuration went well. We are using Embedded http server. In the final step of web server configuration
    - Did the configure web server with Embedded ( port 28080). It was successful.
    - Then in WL console changed the Listening address to ServerC for all managed servers including Admin server
    - Then using configtool ran the step "configure logical web addresses"
              - Here selected set logical addresses for services individually & then for all services running on ServerA
      (workspace/shared services/aif/aps/datasync/planning/eas/calc)
    set them to ServerC:28080 (DNS alias)
    And for services running on Windows BPMA & FDM set to ServerB:80
    This went through well.
    Started all the services. All WL services came up without issues. CAn login to Workspace & shared services. I can see the look and feel changes and can see all new EPM 11123 icons under "Navigate-->Administer". But when I click on any of the links (Dimension lib/Application lib/planning/Data management etc) all fail with similar error
    "A Not found error occured while communication with server". In show details it says for example...
    URI: http://ServerC:28080/awb/conf/AwbConfig.xml - status 404 not found"
    For each application the error is similar http://ServerC:28080/<context> - status 404 not found
    Obviously the Logical web address set to 28080 is not working. But all the below URLS work fine
    http://serverC:9365/aps/APS
    http://serverC:8300/HyperionPlanning/conf/HspJSConfig.xml
    http://serverC:19091/awb/conf/AwbConfig.xml
    http://serverC:8500/calcmgr/conf/CalcMgrConfig.xml
    http://serverC:19091/awb/conf/AwbConfig.xml
    http://serverC:28080/workspace
    To fix this issues, tried reconfiguring Logical web address to all individual application, this time to correct respective ports where they are listening instead of 28080. As I can see only workspace is working on 28080.
    I can see this new configuration updated in registry. Bounced the domain including Admin server. But the issue persists. For each link, it is still looking for old Logical web URL "http:serverc:28080/<context> instead of picking up new Logical addresses configured.
    Please suggest ways to fix the issue.

    Issue got resolved after installing OHS instead of using embedded http server. In OHA it gives the flexibility to point to DNS alias.

  • Issue with spamassassin, now mail not working

    Hi ! I installed spamtrainer almost two months ago. Been feeding the [email protected] for several weeks now , 700 emails each day at least .
    There was very little improvement if none at all. Tried to add "@local_domains_maps = (1)" to amavisd.conf last night thinking it might be the problem , though no virtual domain exist. This was one of the issue on the default Amavisd config. The other one is adding the symbolic link which I already done.
    Computer froze while adding the parameter "@local_domains_maps = (1)", so I manually turn off the Power Mac, then mail stopped altogether. The mails are filing up but the clients couldn't send or receive since this incidence .
    FF is the maincf. and amavis.conf

    #GENERAL NOTES:
    # This file is a normal Perl code, interpreted by Perl itself.
    # - make sure this file (or directory where it resides) is NOT WRITABLE
    # by mere mortals, otherwise it represents a severe security risk!
    # - for values which are interpreted as booleans, it is recommended
    # to use 1 for true, and 0 or undef or '' for false.
    # THIS IS DIFFERENT FROM OLDER AMAVIS VERSIONS where "no" also meant false,
    # now it means true, like any nonempty string does!
    # - Perl syntax applies. Most notably: strings in "" may include variables
    # (which start with $ or @); to include characters @ and $ in double
    # quoted strings, precede them by a backslash; in single-quoted strings
    # the $ and @ lose their special meaning, so it is usually easier to use
    # single quoted strings. Still, in both cases a backslash need to be doubled
    # - variables with names starting with a '@' are lists, the values assigned
    # to them should be lists as well, e.g. ('one@foo', $mydomain, "three");
    # note the comma-separation and parenthesis. If strings in the list
    # do not contain spaces nor variables, a Perl operator qw() may be used
    # as a shorthand to split its argument on whitespace and produce a list
    # of strings, e.g. qw( one@foo example.com three ); Note that the argument
    # to qw is quoted implicitly and no variable interpretation is done within
    # (no '$' variable evaluations). The #-initiated comments can not be used
    # within the string. In other words, $ and # lose their special meaning
    # withing a qw argument, just like within '...' strings.
    # - all e-mail addresses in this file and as used internally by the daemon
    # are in their raw (rfc2821-unquoted and nonbracketed) form, i.e.
    # Bob "Funny" [email protected], not: "Bob \"Funny\" Dude"@example.com

    # Lookup list of local domains (see README.lookups for syntax details)
    # NOTE:
    # For backwards compatibility the variable names @local_domains (old) and
    # @local_domains_acl (new) are synonyms. For consistency with other lookups
    # the name @local_domains_acl is now preferred. It also makes it more
    # obviously distinct from the new %local_domains hash lookup table.
    # local_domains* lookup tables are used in deciding whether a recipient
    # is local or not, or in other words, if the message is outgoing or not.
    # This affects inserting spam-related headers for local recipients,
    # limiting recipient virus notifications (if enabled) to local recipients,
    # in deciding if address extension may be appended, and in SQL lookups
    # for non-fqdn addresses. Set it up correctly if you need features
    # that rely on this setting (or just leave empty otherwise).
    # With Postfix (2.0) a quick reminder on what local domains normally are:
    # a union of domains spacified in: $mydestination, $virtual_alias_domains,
    # $virtual_mailbox_domains, and $relay_domains.
    @local_domains_acl = ( ".$mydomain" ); # $mydomain and its subdomains
    # @local_domains_acl = qw(); # default is empty, no recipient treated as local
    # @local_domains_acl = qw( .example.com );

    # @local_domains_acl = ( ".$mydomain", '.example.com', 'sub.example.net' );
    # or alternatively(A), using a Perl hash lookup table, which may be assigned
    # directly, or read from a file, one domain per line; comments and empty lines

    # Here is an overall picture (sequence of events) of how pieces fit together
    # (only virus controls are shown, spam controls work the same way):
    # bypass_virus_checks set for all recipients? ==> PASS
    # no viruses? ==> PASS
    # log virus if $log_templ is nonempty
    # quarantine if $virus_quarantine_to is nonempty
    # notify admin if $virus_admin (lookup) nonempty
    # notify recips if $warnvirusrecip and (recipient is local or $warn_offsite)
    # add address extensions for local recipients (when enabled)
    # send (non-)delivery notifications
    # to sender if DSN needed (BOUNCE) or ($warnvirussender and D_PASS)
    # virus_lovers or final_destiny==D_PASS ==> PASS
    # DISCARD (2xx) or REJECT (5xx) (depending on final_*_destiny)
    # Equivalent flow diagram applies for spam checks.
    # If a virus is detected, spam checking is skipped entirely.
    # The following symbolic constants can be used in *destiny settings:
    # D_PASS mail will pass to recipients, regardless of bad contents;
    # D_DISCARD mail will not be delivered to its recipients, sender will NOT be
    # notified. Effectively we lose mail (but will be quarantined
    # unless disabled). Not a decent thing to do for a mailer.
    # D_BOUNCE mail will not be delivered to its recipients, a non-delivery
    # notification (bounce) will be sent to the sender by amavisd-new;
    # Exception: bounce (DSN) will not be sent if a virus name matches
    # $viruses_that_fake_sender_re, or to messages from mailing lists
    # (Precedence: bulk|list|junk);
    # D_REJECT mail will not be delivered to its recipients, sender should
    # preferably get a reject, e.g. SMTP permanent reject response
    # (e.g. with milter), or non-delivery notification from MTA
    # (e.g. Postfix). If this is not possible (e.g. different recipients
    # have different tolerances to bad mail contents and not using LMTP)
    # amavisd-new sends a bounce by itself (same as D_BOUNCE).
    # Notes:
    # D_REJECT and D_BOUNCE are similar, the difference is in who is responsible
    # for informing the sender about non-delivery, and how informative
    # the notification can be (amavisd-new knows more than MTA);
    # With D_REJECT, MTA may reject original SMTP, or send DSN (delivery status
    # notification, colloquially called 'bounce') - depending on MTA;
    # Best suited for sendmail milter, especially for spam.
    # With D_BOUNCE, amavisd-new (not MTA) sends DSN (can better explain the
    # reason for mail non-delivery, but unable to reject the original
    # SMTP session). Best suited to reporting viruses, and for Postfix
    # and other dual-MTA setups, which can't reject original client SMTP
    # session, as the mail has already been enqueued.

    # Alternatives to consider for spam:
    # - use D_PASS if clients will do filtering based on inserted mail headers;
    # - use D_DISCARD, if kill_level is set safely high;
    # - use D_BOUNCE instead of D_REJECT if not using milter;
    # There are no sensible alternatives to D_BOUNCE for viruses, but consider:
    # - use D_PASS (or virus_lovers) and $warnvirussender=1 to deliver viruses;
    # - use D_REJECT instead of D_BOUNCE if using milter and under heavy
    # virus storm;
    # Don't bother to set both D_DISCARD and $warn*sender=1, it will get mapped
    # to D_BOUNCE.
    # The separation of *_destiny values into D_BOUNCE, D_REJECT, D_DISCARD
    # and D_PASS made settings $warnvirussender and $warnspamsender only still
    # useful with D_PASS.
    # The following $warn*sender settings are ONLY used when mail is

    # The value of scalar $virus_quarantine_to/$spam_quarantine_to (or a
    # per-recipient lookup result from the hash table %$virus_quarantine_to)
    # is/are interpreted as follows:
    # VARIANT 1:
    # empty or undef disables quarantine;
    # VARIANT 2:
    # a string NOT containg an '@';
    # amavisd will behave as a local delivery agent (LDA) and will quarantine
    # viruses to local files according to hash %local_delivery_aliases (pseudo
    # aliases map) - see subroutine mail_to_local_mailbox() for details.
    # Some of the predefined aliases are 'virus-quarantine' and 'spam-quarantine'.
    # Setting $virus_quarantine_to ($spam_quarantine_to) to this string will:
    # * if $QUARANTINEDIR is a directory, each quarantined virus will go
    # to a separate file in the $QUARANTINEDIR directory (traditional
    # amavis style, similar to maildir mailbox format);
    # * otherwise $QUARANTINEDIR is treated as a file name of a Unix-style
    # mailbox. All quarantined messages will be appended to this file.
    # Amavisd child process must obtain an exclusive lock on the file during
    # delivery, so this may be less efficient than using individual files
    # or forwarding to MTA, and it may not work across NFS or other non-local
    # file systems (but may be handy for pickup of quarantined files via IMAP
    # for example);
    # VARIANT 3:
    # any email address (must contain '@').
    # The e-mail messages to be quarantined will be handed to MTA
    # for delivery to the specified address. If a recipient address local to MTA
    # is desired, you may leave the domain part empty, e.g. 'infected@', but the
    # '@' character must nevertheless be included to distinguish it from variant 2.
    # This method enables more refined delivery control made available by MTA
    # (e.g. its aliases file, other local delivery agents, dealing with
    # privileges and file locking when delivering to user's mailbox, nonlocal
    # delivery and forwarding, fan-out lists). Make sure the mail-to-be-quarantined
    # will not be handed back to amavisd for checking, as this will cause a loop
    # (hopefully broken at some stage)! If this can be assured, notifications
    # will benefit too from not being unecessarily virus-scanned.
    # By default this is safe to do with Postfix and Exim v4 and dual-sendmail

    # A little trick: a pattern qr'\.exe$' matches both a short type name '.exe',
    # as well as any file name which happens to end with .exe. If only matching
    # a file name is desired, but not the short name, a pattern qr'.\.exe$'i
    # or similar may be used, which requires that at least one character preceeds
    # the '.exe', and so it will never match short file types, which always start
    # with a dot.

    # %virus_lovers, @virus_lovers_acl and $virus_lovers_re lookup tables:
    # (these should be considered policy options, they do not disable checks,
    # see bypas*checks for that!)
    # Exclude certain RECIPIENTS from virus filtering by adding their lower-cased
    # envelope e-mail address (or domain only) to the hash %virus_lovers, or to
    # the access list @virus_lovers_acl - see README.lookups and examples.
    # Make sure the appropriate form (e.g. external/internal) of address
    # is used in case of virtual domains, or when mapping external to internal
    # addresses, etc. - this is MTA-specific.
    # Notifications would still be generated however (see the overall
    # picture above), and infected mail (if passed) gets additional header:
    # X-AMaViS-Alert: INFECTED, message contains virus: ...
    # (header not inserted with milter interface!)
    # NOTE (milter interface only): in case of multiple recipients,
    # it is only possible to drop or accept the message in its entirety - for all
    # recipients. If all of them are virus lovers, we'll accept mail, but if
    # at least one recipient is not a virus lover, we'll discard the message.
    # %bypass_virus_checks, @bypass_virus_checks_acl and $bypass_virus_checks_re
    # lookup tables:
    # (this is mainly a time-saving option, unlike virus_lovers* !)
    # Similar in concept to %virus_lovers, a hash %bypass_virus_checks,
    # access list @bypass_virus_checks_acl and regexp list $bypass_virus_checks_re
    # are used to skip entirely the decoding, unpacking and virus checking,
    # but only if ALL recipients match the lookup.
    # %bypass_virus_checks/@bypass_virus_checks_acl/$bypass_virus_checks_re
    # do NOT GUARANTEE the message will NOT be checked for viruses - this may
    # still happen when there is more than one recipient for a message, and
    # not all of them match these lookup tables. To guarantee virus delivery,
    # a recipient must also match %virus_lovers/@virus_lovers_acl lookups
    # (but see milter limitations above),
    # NOTE: it would not be clever to base virus checks on SENDER address,
    # since there are no guarantees that it is genuine. Many viruses
    # and spam messages fake sender address. To achieve selective filtering
    # based on the source of the mail (e.g. IP address, MTA port number, ...),
    # use mechanisms provided by MTA if available.
    # Similar to lookup tables controlling virus checking, there exist

    # ENVELOPE SENDER WHITELISTING / BLACKLISTING - GLOBAL (RECIPIENT-INDEPENDENT)
    # WHITELISTING: use ENVELOPE SENDER lookups to ENSURE DELIVERY from whitelisted
    # senders even if the message is recognized as spam. Effectively, for the
    # specified senders, message RECIPIENTS temporarily become 'spam_lovers', with
    # further processing being the same as otherwise specified for spam lovers.
    # It does not turn off inserting spam-related headers, if they are enabled.
    # BLACKLISTING: messages from specified SENDERS are DECLARED SPAM.
    # Effectively, for messages from blacklisted senders, spam level
    # is artificially pushed high, and the normal spam processing applies,
    # resulting in 'X-Spam-Flag: YES', high 'X-Spam-Level' bar and other usual
    # reactions to spam, including possible rejection. If the message nevertheless
    # still passes (e.g. for spam loving recipients), it is tagged as BLACKLISTED
    # in the 'X-Spam-Status' header field, but the reported spam value and
    # set of tests in this report header field (if available from SpamAssassin,
    # which may have not been called) is not adjusted.
    # A sender may be both white- and blacklisted at the same time,
    # settings are independent. For example, being both white- and blacklisted,
    # message is delivered to recipients, but is tagged as spam.
    # If ALL recipients of the message either white- or blacklist the sender,
    # spam scanning (calling the SpamAssassin) is bypassed, saving on time.

    # @av_scanners is a list of n-tuples, where fields semantics is:
    # 1. av scanner plain name, to be used in log and reports;
    # 2. scanner program name; this string will be submitted to subroutine
    # find_external_programs(), which will try to find the full program
    # path name; if program is not found, this scanner is disabled.
    # Besides a simple string (full program path name or just the basename
    # to be looked for in PATH), this may be an array ref of alternative
    # program names or full paths - the first match in the list will be used;
    # As a special case for more complex scanners, this field may be
    # a subroutine reference, and the whole n-tuple is passed to it as args.
    # 3. command arguments to be given to the scanner program;
    # a substring {} will be replaced by the directory name to be scanned,
    # i.e. "$tempdir/parts"
    # 4. an array ref of av scanner exit status values, or a regexp (to be
    # matched against scanner output), indicating NO VIRUSES found;
    # 5. an array ref of av scanner exit status values, or a regexp (to be
    # matched against scanner output), indicating VIRUSES WERE FOUND;
    # Note: the virus match prevails over a 'not found' match, so it is safe
    # even if 4. matches for viruses too;
    # 6. a regexp (to be matched against scanner output), returning a list
    # of virus names found.
    # 7. and 8.: (optional) subroutines to be executed before and after scanner
    # (e.g. to set environment or current directory);
    # see examples for these at KasperskyLab AVP and Sophos sweep.
    # NOTES:
    # - NOT DEFINING @av_scanners (e.g. setting it to empty list, or deleting the
    # whole assignment) TURNS OFF LOADING AND COMPILING OF THE ANTIVIRUS CODE
    # (which can be handy if all you want to do is spam scanning);
    # - the order matters: although _all_ available entries from the list are
    # always tried regardless of their verdict, scanners are run in the order
    # specified: the report from the first one detecting a virus will be used
    # (providing virus names and scanner output); REARRANGE THE ORDER TO WILL;
    # - it doesn't hurt to keep an unused command line scanner entry in the list
    # if the program can not be found; the path search is only performed once
    # during the program startup;
    # CORROLARY: to disable a scanner that _does_ exist on your system,
    # comment out its entry or use undef or '' as its program name/path
    # (second parameter). An example where this is almost a must: disable
    # Sophos 'sweep' if you have its daemonized version Sophie or SAVI-Perl
    # (same for Trophie/vscan, and clamd/clamscan), or if another unrelated
    # program happens to have a name matching one of the entries ('sweep'
    # again comes to mind);
    # - it DOES HURT to keep unwanted entries which use INTERNAL SUBROUTINES
    # for interfacing (where the second parameter starts with \&).
    # Keeping such entry and not having a corresponding virus scanner daemon
    # causes an unnecessary connection attempt (which eventually times out,
    # but it wastes precious time). For this reason the daemonized entries
    # are commented in the distribution - just remove the '#' where needed.

    You are welcome. I'm glad you got it back up.
    (1) You say you did the symbolic link. I will assume this is set correctly; it's very important that it is.
    (2) I don't know what you mean by "Been feeding the [email protected] for several weeks now, 700 emails each day at least." After the initial training period, SpamAssassin doesn't learn from mail it has already processed correctly. At this point, you only need to teach SpamAssassin when it is wrong. [email protected] should only be getting spam that is being passed as clean. Likewise, [email protected] should only be getting legitimate mail that is being flagged as junk. You are redirecting mail to both [email protected] and [email protected] ... right? SpamAssassin needs both.
    (3) Next, as I said before, you need to implement those "Frontline spam defense for Mac OS X Server." Once you have that done and issue "postfix reload" you can look at your SMTP log in Server Admin and watch as Postfix blocks one piece of junk mail after another. It's kind of cool.
    (4) Add some SARE rules:
    Visit http://www.rulesemporium.com/rules.htm and download the following rules:
    70sareadult.cf
    70saregenlsubj0.cf
    70sareheader0.cf
    70sarehtml0.cf
    70sareobfu0.cf
    70sareoem.cf
    70sarespoof.cf
    70sarestocks.cf
    70sareunsub.cf
    72sare_redirectpost
    Visit http://www.rulesemporium.com/other-rules.htm and download the following rules:
    backhair.cf
    bogus-virus-warnings.cf
    chickenpox.cf
    weeds.cf
    Copy these rules to /etc/mail/spamassassin/
    Then stop and restart mail services.
    There are other things you can do, and you'll find differing opinions about such things. In general, I think implementing the "Frontline spam defense for Mac OS X Server" and adding the SARE rules will help a lot. Good luck!

  • Windows 8.1 - Upgrade from 8, Start Button Does Not Work

    I cannot find a fix for my 8.1 start button.
    It works when I move the task bar to the top, right or left but not at the bottom. I ran all windows updates and there are no missing/unknown drivers in device manager. No errors in the event log. I've restarted multiple times and created a new local profile.
    I've also tried:
    Copy WinX folder under C:\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows into C:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows.
    dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
    Any ideas? I would prefer not to do a clean install. Thanks in advance.
    HP Touchsmart 23 series
    i5-3475S 2.90GHz
    16GB RAM
    1TB HDD

    Could you please describe a little more detailed about “Start Button does not work”? What is the symptom?
    Yes, when the taskbar is at the bottom of the screen, I cannot left click on the start button. The machine is also a touch-screen, which does work when I touch the start button. If I move the task bar to the left, right or top; the start button does work.
    And what is the kind of the account, Domain? Local? Or both?
    This is local machine.
    It still doesn’t work in a new account?
    Same issue happens with a new account.
    What happens if you use win + "X"?
    Win + "X" works fine; displays options.
    Regarding to the “doesn’t work, both for screen touch and mouse?
    Left-click via the mouse does not work. Touch works fine.
    Can you try to copy the WinX folder from a working PC to your PC for a test?
    I do not have another Windows 8.1 machine available to me.

  • 10gR3 installation issue (#1): User Activity portlet not working

    I installed a clean 10gR3, full install in windows / sql server. I haven't installed anything that didn't come included, so no analytics / publisher / collab / etc. The documentation is somewhat lacking, but I don't think I did anything wrong.
    So when I added the User Status and User Activity portlets to a my page, the user status portlet works, but the user Activity portlet doesn't show any of my previous statuses.
    I looked in my Notification (CNS) database, and I can see my old status, so I know that they are getting in there correctly.
    Looking at PTSPY, there seems to be some issue with a login token (and yes, I did copy the value from PTSERVERCONFIG wtih settingid 65 into the configurator).
    the following is what is displayed in PTSPY when the portlet refresh button is clicked on the User Activities portlet. As you can see, there is a lot of 'guest user', even though I am logged in as administrator.

    I had the same problem. I identified some issues with the way this portlet works. There is a work around, but not a good one. To fix this portlet, I had to go into config manager, 'Aqualogic Notification Service -> RSS Feeds' and uncheck 'Gateway RSS Feed URLs'. This makes that portlet work properly, the side effect is that it breaks all of the RSS Feeds in collab. So, to get around that you have to go add a gateway config to all of the collab portlets' web services... I meant to submit a trouble ticket, but never got around to it. We aren't using that portlet currently, so I bailed on the work around.

  • Seek your help about the issue of Sun JES can not work well in HP9000

    Recently I am testing Sun JES (Java Enerprise System) 2005Q4 in HP9000 (HP-UX 11.11), but I encountered some troubles, after installation, Sun AM -- Access Manager (its old name is Identity Server) and Sun Portal Server can not work well, others (such as Sun App Svr, Directory Svr, Admin Svr) are OK.
    When I try to access AM admin console (http://myhost.mydomain.com:8080/amconsole), exception was thrown as below:

    After many test, I still can not finger out what is the real reasons casued this exception in HP-UX.
    The possible risk is JES 2005Q4 requires some software and hp-ux bundles patches before install JES, but I can NOT find the exact version of them from hp web site, and use corresponding higher version to release them.
    JES 2005Q4 needs:
    Perl (B.5.6.1.F) HP-UX11i
    Tour A.02.02
    Libiconv 1.9.2
    GOLDAPPS11i & GOLDBASE11i (June 2004, B.11.11.0406.5)
    I installed:

    Keynote 6.5 is stable and reliable under Yosemite for most users.
    As with all new operating systems and applications, a small number of users find a few problems.
    Copy and pasting text from and into Keynote from all the applications I have, work perfectly: the applications include; Safari, Mail, Word, PowerPoint, excel, Pages, Numbers, iMovie, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator.
    If you want to place graphics into Keynote, use one of the following methods:
    Insert > Coose
    click the media button on an image placehoder
    click the media button on the tool bar
    drag and drop from a Finder window
    Copy and pasting images into Keynote is not supported

  • After Windows 10 upgrade Mic Conexant 20671 smart audio HD not working

    I upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7. After upgrade, the audio failed - both Recorder (Mic) as well as Player (speaker) where not working and device was not recongnized in Skype  I then got to know (after some internet searching) that Lenovo has released new driver for Windows 8.1 and 10. I downloaded the same (from lenovo site) and installed them in c:\Drivers\Audio . After the installation I followed the automatic installation. However it fails telling Device is not installed. I have also tried to upgrade the software from Device manager. Here it says all softwares are upto date. However mic device driver 10.0.10240.16384  - the date stamp is of today. Under the sound, video , game controller section in the Devce Manager- the device driver for Conexant 20671 is older. This device driver software is not getting upgraded, says all software are upto date. Any pointer to resolve the mic issue is welcome!

    I am having the same problem. The path below is the one specified. http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds100832 After downloading the driver, which displays "Windows 8.1" even though I am using windows 10, the install fails saying the device is not installed. Please advise. Thanks.

  • Safari 5.1.5 on PC. Windows 7 64 bit. My favorite browser is not working. Please help. I keep getting a window in the middle of a page saying ''Safari has stopped working'''''

    Hello.
    My favorite browser Safari (5.1.5 ) has stopped working. Yes I know is on a PC. But is been very good to me for a long time, untill about two months ago. I keep getting a pop up message saying "Safari has stopped working" I will close the pop up message and continue working but within a few minute, the message will pop up again. The browser opens up fast as always and runs fine but the message is a pain and annoying. I'm running Firefox now , but I want my Safari back . Please help.

    Fingers crossed, your Windows 7 will have been recording some additional information about those.
    First, open your Action Center and expand "Maintenance". Click "View reliability history":
    Once the reliability report has been generated, look for Critical events for Safari generated at the time of the "Safari has stopped working" messages. Doubleclick the name Safari in the critical events. (Don't click View solution.) Here's a screenshot showing what to doubleclick:
    You should see something that looks like the following screenshot:
    Copy and paste the contents of the problem report into a reply here. For example:
    Description
    Faulting Application Path:          C:\Program Files (x86)\Safari\Safari.exe
    Problem signature
    Problem Event Name:          BEX
    Application Name:          Safari.exe
    Application Version:          5.34.55.3
    Application Timestamp:          4f6ba239
    Fault Module Name:          StackHash_7100

    OS Version:          6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.1
    Locale ID:          2057
    Additional Information 1:          7100
    Additional Information 2:          710027e7a8d30022e5e0ee529f40121f

    Extra information about the problem
    Bucket ID:          2871481836
    I generated the problem report similar to the above screen shot " by way of IE 9 "  but will not let me copy and paste the contents as a screen shot in reply to your post here . Copy to clipboard did not work either. I might be doing something wrong. Oh well.
    By the way , the only difference is- The Problem Event Name of mine is not BEX. but rather : APPCRASH. Fault Module Name : JavaScriptCore.dll.  Fault Module Version: 7534.55.2.1. The rest are very similar to the above screenshot. If you need more information then I guess I have to do it  all manually. Please let me know. Thanks again.

  • Windows 8 and set up iTunes....not working...HELP!

    I have a new Windows 8 computer and downloaded iTunes on it...but I cannot get my purchased music. First it tells me that my computer is not authorized and I followed all of the rules for that which did not work (Windows 8 did not have the option I needed or the new iTunes layout does not work the same as the directions) and now it won't even show me my purchases when I go into the store..

    Yes, it stinks, but one could have known before, one can find out before going to a new OS which applications are already running and which not.
    I am not sure anything Android or Samsung is already running on Windows 8.
