RDS 2012 RD Web Access, folder, subfolders

I have no problem creating folders in RDS. But
does anyone have a way to create subfolders in those folders?

Hi,
Unfortunately subfolders are not supported.

  • 2012 R2 Web Access Logon

    Just trying to get a definitive answer to the age old question of can we remove the initial user logon requirements when accessing the RD Web Access server in a 2012 R2 RDS deployment?
    I was under the impression that the Single Sign-On only removes the logon prompts when users try to access a RemoteApp or Session Host once they've logged on to the Web Access server?
    Is there a way to use the current users credentials (they're all connecting from domain joined windows 7 or 8 machines) to logon to the RD Web Access site?
    Cheers for now
    Russell

    Hi,
    AFAIK you can only to single sign on when using published applications, not to the actual login page on remote desktop web services.
    You may be able to look at changing some of the authentication options in IIS and making sure the website is in the local intranet site to see if you can pass through the creds.
    Thanks

  • Very slow reponse times in 2012 Remote Web Access

    Hi all,
    I am having an issue on one of our customers 2012 servers.
    All of a sudden logging into RWA is taking around 2 minutes. It takes even longer once you have logged in to wait for the rdp links to download for the end user's PCs.
    I have tested this internally and get the same issue. So far I have tried:
    - Trying locally
    - Created a new test user with no assigned policies or anywhere access to documents and PCs (no result)
    - Rebooted the server
    - Restarted IIS services
    - DisableTaskOffload DWORD value in the registry (as seen on another post)
    - Their internet lines are fine
    - No apparent performance issues on the box (physical server)
    - Only event logs issue I am seeing seems to be
    Remote Desktop Services has taken too long to load the user configuration from server \\server.domain.local for user USERNAME
    - Could this be related?
    Any further suggestions would be greatly appreciated as the  home users cannot currently connect onto their PC's.

    Hi Matt,
    What’s the client OS and RDP version you are using?
    I suggest here to update the client RDP v8.1 and check the result.
    Does web access run smoothly after getting successful logon? Or facing delay in that part also?
    Have you check the ping to the server successful without any delay?
    For more troubleshooting you can check with NetMon or Perfmon tools to check the internal part and see the result.
    Hope it helps!
    Thanks.

  • Groupwise 2012 Remote Web Access Calendar

    I think we have run into a bug that we are not sure how to fix, hopefully someone out there has an answer. We are experiencing that when you have recurring appointments in the calendar, remote web access calendar will not display any appointments. If you remove the recurring appointments, then the other appointments will appear. This is not a problem with the standard client, just when using the web access client. Any thoughts?

  • Web Access for Remote Desktop on Windows Server 2012

    Hello,
    i've a Windows Server 2012 without a domain. So i installed the remote desktop session host, the remote desktop license server and the remote desktop gateway as a server role only. All is working fine. Without a domain, no management tools for remote
    desktop are available. So i configure the remote desktop via the registry. I define (via registry) some remoteapps, too. All values are copied from a running Windows Server 2008 R2. So the remoteapps are runing.
    Now i want to use the new Microsoft Remote Desktop client for Android. To use a remoteapp i must define a remote resource. To define a remote resource i need a url to the web access for remote desktop. So i installed the web access. But if i login to the
    web access, i don't see any remoteapp. What's wrong? I've set the ShowInTSWA to 1. What must i do to access an existing remoteapp via web access?
    Martin

    Hi Martin,
    Server 2012 RD Web Access is designed to retrieve published RemoteApps and Desktops from a Server 2012 RD Connection Broker and/or a Server 2008 R2 RD Session Host server.  From your description it doesn't appear that you are using either of the above.
    I know it is a more complicated set up, but you should consider having a domain, creating a RDS deployment, etc., so that you can use the full featureset as it was intended.  You can do it all on a single server if needed.  For Server 2012
    there is a hotfix that needs to be applied to permit RD Connection Broker to work on the same server instance as active directory.

  • How do I change the URL to the Remote Web Access server in Windows Server 2012?

    Hallo!
    I have set up a Remote Dexktop Service using the "Quick" deployment method in Server Manager and everything is working greate internally, but I cannot start an app published in Remote Web Access from outside our network.
    The problem is that it wants to start the using the internal URL, for example, server.domain.local, instead of the external one, for example remote.server.com.
    I therefore want to know how I can change the default URL for the Remote Web Access server and all the Remote Web Apps in Windows Server 2012?
    I have allready looked in Server Manager and I can change some of the deployment settings in server manager, but there is no way to alter the URL of the Remote Web Access server. See below images:
    Pressing the internal URL only results in opening the internal URL.
    This was very simple to do in Windows Server 2008 R2 using the tsconfig tool, but it does not seam to be any way of solving this in server manager.
    A possible sollution would be to alter the registry someware in HKLM->Software->Microsoft->Windows NT->Terminal Services. But this can easaly lead to problems due to wrong format, etc. and is probably not supported.
    Is there a simpler and supported way?

    That option can be used to connect to any machine that you want.  The error message indicates that the client machine cannot resolve the name "server.domain.local" to an IP address that it can connect to.
    You have several options for configuring that tab on the RDweb site.  You can even remove it entirely.
    Customization of RD Web Site
    RD Web provides a number of customization options for the RD Web interface, including the ability to control default Gateway server settings and redirection settings. These settings
    are controlled by editing the web.config file located in %SYSTEMROOT%\Web\RDWeb\Pages.
    Displaying Local Help
    To display local help for users instead of the web-based help, edit the LocalHelp value and change the value from false to true.
    <!-- LocalHelp: Displays local help for users, instead of the web-based help. Value must be "true" or "false" -->
    <add key="LocalHelp" value="false" />
    When this value is changed, a user that clicks on Help in the upper right corner of the RD Web login page will open the local help file instead of web-based help.
    Hiding the Connect to a Remote PC Tab
    The RDWeb page
    Connect to a Remote PC tab can be hidden from users to prevent connections to any servers through RD Web other than the servers configured in a collection. By default, this setting is set to true and the
    Remote Desktops tab is displayed. To hide the tab, set the value to false.
    <!-- ShowDesktops: Displays or hides the Remote Desktops tab. Value must be "true" or "false" -->
    <add key="ShowDesktops" value="true" />
    When the value is set to false, a user will not see the Connect to a Remote PC tab when logged on to the RD Web page
    RD Gateway Settings
    If the Connect to a Remote PC tab is enabled, an administrator can configure RD Web to use a Gateway server when connecting to remote computers. To specify a gateway, edit the below
    value with the name of the RD Gateway server:
    <!-- DefaultTSGateway: Admin can preset this to a given Gateway name, or set to "" for no gateway. -->
    <add key="DefaultTSGateway" value="" />
    The default authentication method for the RD Gateway server can also be configured by editing the following section of the web.config:
    <!-- GatewayCredentialsSource: TS Gateway Authentication Type.
    Admins can preset this.
    0 = User Password
    1 = Smartcard
    4 = "Ask me later"
    -->
    <add key="GatewayCredentialsSource" value="0" />
    Devices and Resources
    By default, only Printers and Clipboard are redirected on connections made using the Connect to a Remote PC tab. If the user clicks the
    Options << button, the redirection settings for a specific connection can be modified
    To configure each specified redirection option to be enabled or disabled by default, edit the following section in the web.config file:
    <!-- Devices and resources: Preset the Checkbox values to either true or false -->
    <add key="xPrinterRedirection" value="true" />
    <add key="xClipboard" value="true" />
    <add key="xDriveRedirection" value="false" />
    <add key="xPnPRedirection" value="false" />
    <add key="xPortRedirection" value="false" />
    LAN Experience Defaults
    Windows Server 2012 RD Web Access can display a new user selectable option for optimizing the connection for a LAN experience. This option is displayed at the bottom of the RD Web
    page and can be controlled by the administrator using the following section of the web.config file:
    <!--  Checkbox to opt for optimized LAN experience -->
    <add key="ShowOptimizeExperience" value="false" />
    <add key="OptimizeExperienceState" value="false" />
    This value is set to false by default, but when changed to true, the following checkbox will display at the bottom of the webpage. The LAN experience
    checkbox can also be set as enabled by default.
    Each setting can also be modified using the IIS Manager user interface:

  • RD Web Access high availability

    I'm looking for information regarding how to deploy highly available 2012 RD web access servers. There seems to be little or no information online. Does anyone have any experience of setting this up? I would like to run two RD web access servers in an active/active
    model. Also can anyone give any insight into whether this role is happy to be installed on HA RDCB servers too?
    Many thanks

    Hi,
    Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
    We can install the RDCB role to maintain the RDS Farm for RD Web. As per my knowledge we need to install this role on other server same on RDSH as need to use this server outside environment. We need to install RD Web and RD Gateway outside as we can access
    RD Web access page, RemoteApp from internet and then connect to RD Connection Broker which will redirect to an RDSH server which all connected by RD Gateway.
    But sorry to disappoint you but there is no official document for RD Web HA. As we can use of DNS round robin or other load balancing techniques. Please check below article just for reference.

  • Cidway with RDS 2012 R2

    Hi,
    We want to run two factor login for RDS 2012 R2 web by using cidway, is this possible?

    Hi,
    Thank you for your posting in windows Server Forum.
    You can use 2 factor authentication for RD Web with RD gateway setup on your network, so that you can work seamlessly and can enjoy the function of RD gateway pluggable authentication. For that you on client system you can install new RDP 8.1 and enjoy full
    feature.

  • Users see all applications in RDS 2012 Web access in one-way trust domain environment

    Hello!
    We have RDS 2012 deployment in domainA.local. There is a one-way trust between domainA.local and domainB.local: A trusts B and B doesn't trust A.
    A user from domainB.local authenticates in Web-access interface (wa.domainA.local) and sees
    every published application in every collection in the deployment independently of UserGroups setting of collections and applications. This occurs for any domainB user.
    In the security log of wa.domainA.local we can find an event :
    An account failed to log on.
    Subject:
    Security ID:                IIS APPPOOL\RDWebAccess
    Account Name:                RDWebAccess
    Account Domain:                IIS APPPOOL
    Logon ID:                0x2C7B16
    Logon Type:                        3
    Account For Which Logon Failed:
    Security ID:                NULL SID
    Account Name:
    Account Domain:
    Failure Information:
    Failure Reason:                An error occurred during logon
    Status:                        0xC000005E
    Sub Status:                0x0
    Also in network trace on wa.domainA.local kerberos error could be found:
    On TGS-REQ for krbtgt/[email protected] there is an answer: KRB5KDC_ERR_S_PRINCIPAL_UNKNOWN (7), server name krbtgt/domainB.
    How to deal with this issue? The aim is to show only specified applications to domainB users.
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • RDS 2012 Connection Broker and Web Access in different domains

    Hello!
    I'm trying to add Web Access (WA) server to RDS 2012 Deployment. WA server and other servers in Deployment are in different domains (in different forests with 2-way forest trust).
    WA server was added to Deployment
    successfully without any warnings.
    We have many applications published but in this new WA server there are no application icons in Rdweb page at all.
    There is nothing interesting in logs on WA server as well as on Connection broker servers.
    Is this design
    acceptable? Which additional actions are needed to make application icons visible?

    ok, so I solved it by just deploying the web access on another server

  • Can't download files on Android from Server 2012 Essentials Remote Web Access

    I have two servers, one with Windows Server 2012 Essentials, and the other SBS 2011.  Employees like using Remote Web Access to log in from anywhere and have access to shared folders.  It works perfect on a Desktop computer, but when they try to
    use their Android tablets or phones, and want to download a file (e.g. a PDF) from one of the shared folders on the server, the download fails.   When Microsoft was pushing 2012 they said RWA worked great on mobile devices, do I have to set up something
    separately to make this happen?
    I've completely disabled the firewall, and have ports 80,443,987, and 1723(just to be safe) all forwarded to the server.
    I can log into the RWA site on the android, browse files and folders, but when I select a PDF to download, the download shows as if it's starting, shows in my android notification as if its going to start downloading (Shows MobileDownload www.mydomain.com)
    but eventually after a few minutes, will time out and show "Download Unsuccessful".
    Network connectivity is fine as I can do this on a Windows Desktop PC using any browser (Chrome, Firefox, IE) and successfully download anything I want.

    Hi,
    Before going further, would you please let me confirm something firstly?
    Would you please let me know if all Android devices
    encounter this same issue? If you download different type files, will still this issue persists? You can upload a small file (such as a text file) to the share folder, then check if Android device can’t download it.
    Based on your description, when logon a desktop computer, you will download files via RWA successfully. Please use the user account which logon computer to logon
    the Android device, will still fail to download?
    Please check if there has enough free space in Android devices that be used to save download.
    When this issue occurred, please check the state of Android device in Dashboard. Besides, I suggest you should run the Best Practices Analyzer (BPA) and fix all
    it can find. Then monitor the result.

  • RDS 2012 External access for Session Hosts over different port to default 443

    Hello there
    I am having problems solving this problem as you may see on other posts, so I am going to try again.
    I have two Server 2012 machines for RDS. Server 1 one with all roles (Gateway, Broker, Session host etc.) and second machine, Server 2 as a session host only. I am running RDWeb Apps, with CA certificate installed and
    everything works fine internally.
    Due to limitations on the router I had to change the default SSL port on the gateway (Server 1) to 4043. I have this and 3391 for UDP open to Server 1 from the router.
    Working externally, I can login to the RDS site and open apps form Server 1, but when I try to open an app installed on Server 2, I get a certificate error.  The error is:
    “Your computer can’t connect to the remote computer because the Remote Desktop Gateway server address
    and the certificate subject name do not match. Contact your network administrator for assistance".
    The certificate address the error points to is referring to is an SBS 2011 cert for RWW and email. Experimenting, if I use 443 on the Server 1
    gateway instead of 4043 and change the router accordingly, it then works. I can open apps form both session hosts externally . But not if is set to 4043.
    For the record Server 2 session host also gives this error:
    Event ID: 1280 Warning Microsoft Windows TerminalServcies-session broker client
    Remote Desktop Services failed to join the Connection Broker on server sever-vm1.local.
    Error: Current async message was dropped by async dispatcher, because there is a new message which will override the current one.
    Because everything works fine using default 443, I figure this is a communication or firewall issue between the gateway and the session host on Server 2.
    Can anyone help here?
    Many Thanks
    MIS5000

    Hi,
    Thanks for your comment.
    Have you check the connection on your second server?
    Can you ping the server 2 from server 1?
    As from the event ID 1280 it seems there is some network connectivity to RDCB server. Also please “Add the RD Session Host server to the Session Broker Computers group” & RDWeb server's computer account needs to be a member of the local TS Web Access Computers
    group on your RDSH server.  You can get the detailed information from this article.
    In addition, do you have certificate purchased and install from trusted root authority. There is some requirement to use certificate for RDS environment, please consider following points.
    1. The certificate is installed into computer’s “Personal” certificate store.
    2. The certificate has a corresponding private key.
    3. The "Enhanced Key Usage" extension has a value of either "Server Authentication" or "Remote Desktop Authentication" (1.3.6.1.4.1.311.54.1.2). Certificates with no "Enhanced Key Usage" extension can be used as well.
    You can get more details regarding certificatehere.
    Hope it helps!

  • Set logon hours for security groups that will access RDS 2012

    Hi All,
    We have the following hardware for our RD Web solution:
    1 Server – RD Gateway, RD Licensing, RD Web Access, RD Connection Broker
    1 Server – RD Session Host 1
    1 Server – RD Session Host 2
    Our environment consists of the following:
    1 Windows Server 2012 R2 domain controller at the main office, 4 additional 2003 R2 domain controllers scattered
    throughout our 4 remote offices. Domain functional level of 2003. This all works under one flat domain called  company.business.com
    We have RDS up and running, and all of our users are able to access it through the internet either from home or  directly from their remote office. Our next step is to focus on restricting
    access.
    In Active Directory, we have accounts for Support Staff, and accounts for Sales People. They will all have access to RDS in
    the following ways:
    Support Staff will use it from 8am to 5pm throughout the day so that they may connect to the Mickey Mouse 2000 software that is located in the main office
    Sales People will use it 24/7 for all intended purposes
    How do we set it so that Support Staff can only access it internally but not externally when they are outside of the
    office while still providing 24/7 access to the Sales People?
    Can this be accomplished using security groups or logon hours? All input is greatly appreciated, thank you!

    Hi,
    Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
    Based on your description seems you want to have user to get access your software by RemoteApp. You can achieve your desired solution with below steps.
    • Support Staff will use it from 8am to 5pm throughout the day so that they may connect to the Mickey Mouse 2000 software that is located in the main office
    • Sales People will use it 24/7 for all intended purposes
    For above one, you can restrict the access to particular user\group from the “ADUC>Users properties>Account>Logon Hours” where need to specify the time limit for user to Logon or denied logon.
    How do we set it so that Support Staff can only access it internally but not externally when they are outside of the office while still providing 24/7 access to the Sales People?
    When you have setup your environment, you have configured RD RAP and RD CAP; right? You can try not to include the user group that you don’t want to have outside environment. Please check following article for information.

    Hi everyone,
    I've got a little problem and maybe someone here could help me a little.
    I've installed the essential experience role on my 2012 R2 standard server and I configured all the stuff to connect my server via remote web access. Unfotunatly, I the connection doesn't work and i've got an error message like "Impossible to connect
    with RWA. Please contact the person in charge of the server".
    I spend a long time looking about my problem on google but didn't find how to solve it.

    "Impossible to connect with RWA. Please contact the person in charge of the server"
    Did you type RWA URL in IE (or any third-party Browser) and then get below error? Did you access the RWA website
    internally? In addition, would you please let me know complete error message that you can get?
    Would you please let me know what kind of domain name you use via
    Set Up Your Domain Name wizard? When complete Set up Anywhere Access wizard, did you find any error message?
    Please refer to following article to check if configure RWA correctly and troubleshoot RWA.
