RDS Gateway - Why are RAP changes requiring reboot to take effect?

I have Win2k8R2 with RDS Gateway. I am using AD groups in a RAP to define which network resources can be accessed by users. For the most part, it's working as expected, but I am finding that changes to the AD group (e.g. remove a server) are not taking effect
immediately. Users are still able to establish a new connection to a server that has been removed from the AD group. If I reboot the RDS GW, the change seems to take effect, and the users can no longer access the removed server.
While I haven't tested it extensively yet, the change may also take effect after a period of time, without requiring a reboot ... but this doesn't help me either. I need to have such changes take immediate effect.
I've searched the web without luck, this is an awkward topic to get meaningful results on. Can someone tell me definitively when changes to AD groups take effect in the RAP ... and how I can force it to take immediate effect (without a reboot)?

Yes I tried that suggestion, but it made no difference. I don't believe it has anything to do with the Domain Users group, because the problem does resolve itself - after a reboot (without having to change any group membership).
I've just confirmed this situation again yesterday ... on 2 occasions I made changes to AD group memberships that are referenced in RAPs. I added a user to the group to enable them access. Both times I waited at least 5 minutes after making
the changes, but the users still couldn't connect. I ensured all domain controllers had the AD group changes replicated ... users still couldn't connect. I rebooted the RDGW server (I am using a single server, not RD Session Host farm), and that immediately
fixed it. So the problem is still present. It feels as if RDGS is caching AD group membership.

AFP - ACLs - Workgroup Manager
do changes really need a server reboot to take affect?
scenario:

(SubFolder1.1 + SubFolder1.2 are nested into Folder1

if I now switch in Workgroup Manager the memberships to eg.

restart ldap, by deselectingsaving/selectingsaving the SSL cert for OpenDirectoryService
restart the clients
nothing helped but restarting the MacMiniServer
server and all clients are running 10.6.4
cannot be that one has to reboot the whole machine to make AFP - ACLs - Workgroup Manager changes take effect?
ok I am running a rather small setup, but what if ya want to integrate a new user into a bigger environment? this will lead to a disconnect for all users connected or an "over-night-wait-time" for the new user, whilest scheduleing a reboot somewhere in the night? but even then what if people are connected in different timezones overseas via vpn?
where is the hook to make the settings take effect immediately after saving the changes?
any other info I can provide to reproduce/solve the issue?

Well that suggestion from the site referenced above about tearing the OD down, deleting the slapd.conf files and bringing it back up didn't work. 10.5 servers still see changes in OD as they happen and 10.6 servers don't see the change until around 10 minutes later.
Anyone run across this and fixed it?

Why are there changes in the histogram with a convert to profile?

When you convert an image to a different profile the color numbers change, in order for the colors to represented the same (as closely as possible given the gamut differences) in the new color space. The histogram also changes, quite noticeably. Why? Is it representing the raw numbers and not their interpretation in the new space? And if so -- why is that? Is it of some use?

I understand that for an export operation, but still puzzled why the histograms are almost identical in LR for images that had been brought into PS from the same RAW file and converted to different spaces (with slight differences undoubtedly due to the different gamuts). In that case, LR must be "honoring" the different color spaces, with the same appearance and histograms... But when I soft-proof the same RAW file I get very different histograms -- the sRGB more stretched out than the ProPhoto one. Those soft-proof histograms are "the same" (realizing they are all quick calculations) as when I do the corresponding convert to profile in PS.
Maybe I'm not getting my head around "the histogram of the proof target." That would be the more "dramatic" (changed) histogram I'm seeing in LR's soft proof and PS's convert to profile. But is there a reason to show it that way? Doesn't a histogram need to be interpreted in a color space to be meaningful?
If I go ahead with something like a Save for Web or Export from LR in that target color space, I'll then see the histogram return to more or less what it was before (given that rendering intent has done its thing).
Is it that the more dramatic histogram is simply representing the image in the wrong color space?? I can see that as a pragmatic decision.

Why are Subclips Changing Video Size?

I am having a bit of difficulty when i create a subclip the width of my clips changes and shrinks, creating two black bars on the sides. My preview looks okay but after the clip is rendered the bars appear
Any clue as to why this might be happening?
I have fcp 4.0 on a macbook 10.6.2.

What Al said, plus it sounds as if you're making the subclips incorrectly. It sounds as if you're making them in the timeline; you need to make them in the viewer

plenty of disk space
1-Photocopy of a bible page scanned as Bitmap, and converted to Grayscale in Photoshop.
2-Improvements made using either "levels" adjustment layers OR multiple layers set to either "screen" or "multiply."
3-Saving (flattening) causes the image to revert to the original.

You're applying a curve to an image that only has two values (black and white). The preview looks ok, but is purely deceptive. Try applying your edits while viewing at 100% view. You can use two views of the image (window > arrange > new window for doc x) to have one at your favorite viewing percentage and one at 100%. You might try blurring by .25 to .75 px before messing with curves/levels.

Why are calendars changing colors?

Why are administrator privileges required to log out of Creative Cloud?

Hi,
we are using Creative Cloud for Teams on managed Mac OS X-Clients, which means our users are working on standard user accounts and have no administrator privileges. They are able to sign-in to Creative Cloud with their Adobe ID without problem, but logging off is a different story: its impossible to log out of CC without administrator privileges.
Any informations regarding this issue?

CC was distributed to the client computers with CC Packager, where it's recommended NOT to distribute the CC Desktop app if the user has no admin privileges.
I gave it a try anyway and installed a package including CC Desktop, but it didn't help. When trying to sign out of CC, the user gets an error message, see following screenshot (it's in german, sorry).

Why are Vocal Lyric found loops under Sound Effects in Apple Loops

Was About to explore what Vocal lyrics are available in Apple Loops of Logic Pro when I realised that a lot are duplicated in Sound Effects filter as well as Vocals filter.
Also, some vocals Lyrics are only in Sound Effects.
Why aren't Vocal Lyric loops filed only under Vocals? After all, they are not what I would consider to be Sound Effects.

I think iWeb and iPhoto both use the iTunes Library as their default source for music. You could try going to iTunes, change the iTunes preference to NOT copy files (there's a check box in Preferences->Advanced/General) into the Library, or else have it import the aif files as mp3s (also in Advanced, click the Importing tab), then add the music files to iTunes.

Why are Folio pages initially blurry and take a few seconds to render?

Hi.
My Folio pages all take a moment to render when viewed on the ipad with adobe viewer, which means they are blurry for a few seconds then they become crisp when they are fully rendered. It really kills the whole feel of my work, making it feel cheap. I tried chaning over some of the imported ai files to PNG but it still happens. Is there anyway to fix this? Also, my goal is turn this into an app, will this blur/render also happen when this is output as an app?

this delayed blurring issue happens to my folio... It seems to be a new issue for me. I've been working with dps folios for a couple years... Never noticed it so bad before on my previous products. In fact, I took a break for a few weeks on a current project and just started working on the folio again... A few weeks ago my folio didn't blur so bad. It's not that much more complicated now than it was then, but this week the blur thing was WAY more noticeable of a delay. What gives? I use PDF format, then and now... Haven't changed any settings. Doesn't happen so bad on an ipad2 but really delayed on ipad3

In Logic Pro 10 why are some of the built in guitar effects stereo and some are not

in the library, in the distorted guitar, some are stereo and some only come out of my right speaker. are they all supposed to be stereo or is it my speakers?

Why are my still images Blurry when applying effects?

I am creating a slideshow video using images with up to 18mp. The images look wonderful clear and sharp until I try and add video effects to the slide, like zooming in or panning.
I am a user of both CS5.5 at work and newly acquired CS6 for home. I like what I have been able to do, however this makes me very frustrated when everything looks good except for the images with effects. Should I be applying effects differently? or what?

Stick around for awhile... there is OFTEN a good deal of "healthy discussion" (ie-disagreement) that goes on here
That discussion brings out a LOT of different experiences (you say X doesn't work... but it works just fine for "me") that sometimes, maybe even often, leads to increased and/or new knowledge for everyone
Other times, you just need to realize that what works for "me" may, or may not, work for "you" exactly the same way based on your work flow
Read what everyone offers, try what you can... and make LOTS of notes so, over time, you will develop work practices that work best for you

Many people export out of PPro as MPEG2-DVD to then use Encore to author a DVD
My PERSONAL work flow is to export my AVCHD edits to Widescreen DV AVI to give to Encore... so I may use Encore's Automatic Transcoding setting to make a "best" fit of video length to size (single or dual layer) of DVD
This is because I just don't care to get into all the details of figuring out the PPro settings when exporting... I let Encore do all the math for me
That process works just fine for me... other people want to figure out their own math for the PPro export settings
I say what I do, and why, but I certainly do not TELL anyone else that they MUST do it my way

Nsswitch.conf modification requires reboot?

I have a couple Solaris 10 SPARC machines running. I am trying to modify nsswitch.conf to add/remove the dns entry for hosts. It seems that this can not be done on the fly as it used to be in previous versions (9,8,7)
Many posts I have seen have provided one of the two following options.
Modify nsswitch.conf and reboot
sys-unconfig and reboot.
Neither of these are really valid options on any machine that is not just the average desktop and even then it is arguable that a simple change like this should not require a reboot. I have trying bouncing nscd and/or name-services with svcadm but no luck.
Anyone know how I can make changes to nsswitch.conf and have them take place without a reboot? Also, is there something in 10 that caches names besides nscd? Does it have a restart or flush option?

Changes to nsswitch.conf take effect immediately.
If you change the IP address for a host, you may have to wait for up to an hour to see the new value, as the NSCD (Name Service Cache Daemon) may have the old value cached.
In this case, the easiest thing to do is invalidate the NSCD hosts cache, using nscd -i hosts.
BTW - Do not diable the nscd. It's saving you a lot of overhead. You can see what it's doing by using nscd -g.
There's no point in rebooting unless you're changing the IP address of your host. In that case, after changing /etc/hosts, you can either ifconfig the new address on to your interface (and possiblery reconnect) or reboot.

Making jsp changes take effect

I am slightly confused as to what changes require a server restart, as I
have tried changing jsp and some times that changes just don't take effect.
I have tried running in development and production mode and this makes
little to no difference.

You can set the page recompilation check interval in weblogic.xml for the
web application that contains the JSP. See the WLS docs for details.
