RDWEB not redirecting printers on 2012 VDI pool deployment

I have RDWeb running on Server 2012 along with a 5 machine VDI pool. If a remote user connects to the RDWeb server and then connects to a desktop in the pool, their local printer will not
show up. If the user connects directly to a machine through RDP the printer will show up. I have redirected printers enabled. The CAP is enabled for redirected items. The RD Gateway has the drivers installed. Any ideas
on what I can do to get this working?

2012 VDI Pool storage - move to different drive (I just ran out of space!) :-(

I have 2012 R2 VDI host with approx 30 desktops in a single collection. The collection has the below setup:
What i have found is that when machines are ccreated they are being created on the C:\programdata\ drive of my hyper-v host. The settings of the hyper-v settings default paths are D:\VIRTUAL MACHINES\ however these seem to be being ignored.
How/Where do I specify the machines should be placed in D:\VIRTUAL MACHINES\? I think my problem is that the "local desktop creation location" (shown above) is perhaps "default", but i can't see how to change it to a path. its greyed
out. the PS command "Set-RDSessionCollectionConfiguration" doesn't seem to have that property exposed either....

I am trying to Change the "local virtual Desktop creation Location" to a new drive (same RDVH/hyper-v host).
I can not find a way to move this. Is there no way to Change this Settings? Only recreate the pool?
Is there a way to Change the RDVH (Server replacement)?
With Windows 2012R2 hyper-v i have also "shared nothing" Migration. Is this usable for VDI?
Maybe somebody can answer the questions.

2012 RDS: Non-Administrators can not access VDI pool

I am currently setting up server 2012 VDI using 2 servers. A connection broker, web access, licenseing server and a VM Host server. I have followed the wizards, created my master image, created the collection, and setup group policy to add the group I want
to give RDS access to Allow log on through terminal services & Remote Desktop Users group.
When I connect using my admin account everything works, it connects to the connection broker and then forwards to one of the running VMs.
When I connect using a non-admin account I am prompted with: The connection was denied because the user account is not authorized for remote login. I also get the following in the event log:
TerminalServices-SessionBroker
RD Connection Broker failed to process the connection request for user ***\****.
Failed to find Resource Plugin OR an end point for the user.
Error: Access is denied.
TerminalService-SessionBroker-Client
Remote Desktop Connection Broker Client failed while getting redirection packet from Connection Broker.
User : ***\****
Error: Element not found.
Remote Desktop Connection Broker Client failed to redirect the user ***\****
Error: NULL
I searched the internet high and low and I can not figure this out. I have even put the the non-admin users in the remote desktop users on the server just to see what would happen, same results if trying to connect to the pool. But I am able to connect directly
to the server. I am also able to directly connect to a VM in the pool using a non-admin account.
Any help would be appreciated.

Please run a quick test to see that collection security filtering is functioning. Please log on to RD Web as the test user account and verify that the icon for connecting to the collection is present. Leave the web browser open.
In Server Manager, add a group to the user groups tab that the test user is
not a member of, then remove all groups listed that the user is a member of. After completing this, please refresh the RDWeb page, and verify that the icon for the collection is no longer present. Once you have verified that this works, please
return to Server Manager and add the group that the user
is a member of back in, refresh RDWeb, and test again.
Please reply with your results.

I have added a group my test account is NOT a member of, removed the orginal group, and refreshed the page. The icon for the collection is STILL present (even though it should not be).
EDIT: I tried logged in with a second test account that was never in the original group and the collection is not displayed. Is there a delay from when you set the group and when the change takes effect?

SCCM 2012 Agent in a VMwar VDI pool

We have a VMware pool of 40 virtual PCs that are regularly re-composed from a base image. Is there any definitive documentation on how to implement SCCM 2012 on VDI pools such as this. I have found a couple of things relating to SCCM 2007 (below),
are these still relevant to 2012?

For 2012 (post SP1), there is also a client setting that enables randomization of most client activity; this should be enabled on your VDI systems.
Is there any actual value to installing the ConfigMgr client agent in your non-persistent VDI systems though?

There isn't really any value in having the agent on the non-peristent machines, no, but I need the agent on my master image so I can deploy software updates to it once a month. Then we recompose all the other virtual PCs from the master with with the new software
updates applied. I will therefore only target the master image with software updates and not the other virtual PCs.
I do plan to deploy EP signatures to ALL virtual PCs though.

RD Session Broker will not redirect to the Collection Servers.

Host server running 2012 Hyper V with 3 VM's
One RD Broker configured
Two Session Hosts in a collection - not in drain mode.
All are 2012 R2
I can use RDweb and the RD broker will divert me to one of the host servers. I can use the RDP icon and works.
I would rather use the new remote desktop app in windows 8, and use Desktop Sessions (Terminal Services), not VDI or RD web.
I'm hoping that the Broker is in drain mode but the server will not redirect. I am not sure what's going on, I haven't placed the domain users in the remote desktop users on the Broker because I cannot place the Broker into drain mode like I had in the pass
with 2008 R2
Doesn't make sense and I have done a heap of searching.
My objective is to use the remote desktop app and log into one of 2 servers with a desktop session.
I believe this is the error I need to get past.

As I understand it, if we put the TS server in drain mode, it prevents new users from logging onto the server, while allowing currently logged on users to reconnect to their existing sessions. I guess if you want to know how to put the server in drain mode
so it won’t accept any new connections. Do this by selecting its collection in RDMS. In the Host Servers section, right-click the server and choose “Do not allow new connections.” For more information, you may refer to this article,

Two native iSCSI LUNs in a 2012 storage pool

I have a Windows Server 2012 storage pool connected to a single SAN VIA iSCSI. I'd like to add a second SAN and present the virtual disks as part of the same pool to extend my total storage. Is this possible?

I do not have the environment to test if add LUNs from different SAN will work or not but personally I believe it will work as SAN (LUN) is supported to be added into a storage pool.

AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Protect is not Redirected into Homedrive

Hi everybody.
We're experiencing issues with the intire "protect" folder in Windows 7 x64
Overview:
AppData Roaming --> Folder Redirection into Homedirectory is enabled by GPO
Windows 7 Enterprise x64
Windows Server 2012 R2
The intire Folder AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\ is not redirecting into the useres Homedrive, which is causing errors - for example in Google Chrome (User can save passwords and cookies, but their lost after every new login)
Basicly our users keep losing all their DPAPI keys.
Our assumption is, that DPAPI works with %userprofile% which is linked to C:\Users\[Username] and addes the AppData Roaming part to the environment variable instead of using %appdata% pointing to the users homedrive...
New keys are generated locally instead of in redirected place.
We've already startet working with credential roaming (in Active Directory) - but we find it dangerouse since we're a school, inwich teacher and students change their workplace alot - and we must store all passwords etc. for 6 years and longer (its
dumb i know). If a new DPAPI file is generated for every PC and every new user password etc. the cute 750 Byte which one of those files approx. has, isnt that cute anymore. We dont want our AD to grow that bad. We then also found a Hotfix - this
doesnt solve our Problem either since most Programs we use dont mark their BLOB as used - so we cant use the Filter not to roam unused keys....
So, thats why we're looking for a solution inwich, as everyone would expect, really the intire Appdata\roaming is redirected, without any exceptions.

Microsoft VDI Pooled Workgroup VMs

I'm trying to create pooled workgroup VMs. That means that the VMs that the VDI pool creates wouldn't be domain joined. Is this possible?
Also, does anyone have any working syspreped Windows 7 SP1 answer file? Every time I try, I get an error "vdi unable to retrieve the details of the virtual desktop collection". I have removed the top line shown below as some threads mentioned but
I still get the error. I've tried this using the GUI, would doing it through powershell make a difference?

Thank you for your posting in windows Server Forum.
As per my research, I can say that this is prerequisites for installing RDS role on server. (Quoted from below article)
1. All RDS Servers must be joined to the same Active Directory Domain.
2. Before you can create a VDI collection, the template (gold image) Virtual Machine must be sys-prepped.

RDP to old Server 2000 not redirecting printer

Hi,
I am replacing some old PCs that RDP to a Server 2000 on a small network.
The last PC I replaced (is the first one with W8.1, the others I replaced still have W7) also makes RDP connection to Server 2000 but it can't print, as its printers are not redirected, not even get an event about missing drivers from server.
Is there some configuration to control this behaviour?

Session Time out - Relogin not redirecting

Hi,
If I am in a particular page of an application, and session times out, I get Page Expired window. On click of that, it takes me to login page. After I relogin, it is NOT redirecting me to the page where the time out happened. It just redirects to the Application Main page. Is there a way to let ADF redirect to the page where time out happened?

ABAP webdynpro app not redirecting using Outbound plug in portal

Scenario-
There is one Abap webdynpro application APP1 calling another abap webdynpro component Comp 2 through outbound plug on a button click. This is working fine if service is tested independantly.
SAP ECC system is having a webispatcher and the application should be accessed using webdipatcher only i.e. ECC should not be called directly.
SSL has been configured b/w ECC and webdipatcher.
The Abap webdynpro application APP1 is integrated into portal using Abap webdynpro iview.
Setting in Portal system are reffering to Webdipatcher for ECC system instead of ECC system directly.
Issue-
App1 is loading successfully into portal and all the data is coming properly but when trying to navigate to second component on button click it is not navigating. iview is getting refreshed but not redirecting to required component and is still on the same application.
Please suggest the reasons and solutions if anyone has clue about it.

When atemping to use wifi hotspots FireFox does not redirect to login page.

when trying to use a hot spot like in a hotel or airport (tmoble for one) will not redirect to login page. Nor can it find the page when I enter the DNS name. If I enter the IP address of the long in page then it can find it but not the subsequent pages that it calls by DNS.

I am a Hotspot ISP and I am having this issue with Firefox on Linux devices. We use Colubris MSC-3300 as access controllers tied to a RADIUS server. Have tested all other browsers on Windows and Linux and they seem to work correctly, problem seems to be tied to Firefox on Linux (testing with Ubuntu 11.04). When I open Firefox the redirect to captive portal page works correcty. I enter my username and password and when it tries to send this information back to the controller I get a "connection was interrupted" error. I have gone into Preferences and turned everything off and/or on and still can't get this device to log in.

Alert data is not present in SCOM 2012 Data Warehouse database since two weeks

Alert data is not present in SCOM 2012 Data Warehouse database since a week though I could see Performance data for the latest dates. Old Alert data is present but I think the latest Alert data is not being inserted to Data warehouse. No activity was done
on the day from where we are missing data.
I could see 31554 events on all my Management servers and this proves that Data Insertion is happening. I am not sure why only Alert data is missing (or not getting inserted) in DW database. I am trying to use SQL queries to fetch the data as I dont have reporting
currently. The same query is working for other dates, so there is no issue with this query.
I have noticed that I could see the Alert Data present in SCOM OperationsmNager Db but NOT present in OperationsManagerDW database.
In SCOM 2007, data will be inserted in both Ops DB and DW simultaneously. I believe the same methodology in 2012 too.
Please help me to fetch Alert data from DW. Any suggestion pls?
