Re: 64 Bit Windows7/8/8.1 USB drivers for Palm Desktop

Hi I have found this thread, after trying to connect my Acer S60 to windows 7 64 home
using palm desktop 4.1.4 and AceecaUSBDx64
At first I get (I cant remember exact message) device not recognised, so I tried to make the lines in the .inf file match
the ones seen by device manager
old        %ACER_DEVICE_ID_01%  = DriverInstall.NTamd64,USB\VID_0502&PID_0001
               %ACER_DEVICE_ID_02%  = DriverInstall.NTamd64,USB\VID_0502&PID_0736
new      %ACER_DEVICE_ID_01%  = DriverInstall.NTamd64,USB\VID_0502&PID_0736&REV_0100
              %ACER_DEVICE_ID_02%  = DriverInstall.NTamd64,USB\VID_0502&PID_0736
Now the error messages report an acer handheld but I get
"can't install driver"
"this type of data not supported" (again I don't remember exactly the message)
from the driver installer process.
Any Ideas
Reason for this activity is the impending demise of XP, where I use palm desktop 4.0.1 (4.0.4 works as well now I have tested it on another XP system)
I have tried palm desktop 6.2 under XP but the data does not get synced to the PC desktop app (the handheld is not corrupted)
Thanks Chris

Thank you so much.  I was thoroughly disappointed to see that the support telephone for paid support had been discontinued.  I thought I would need to replace my (ancient but serviceable) Z22.
I followed the instructions listed here and am very happy to report that I completed a sync!
Thanks again.

  • 64 Bit Windows7/8/8.1 USB drivers for Palm Desktop

Thanks to the great folks over at Aceeca.com (makers of NEW PalmOS Garnet devices), USB drivers for 64bit Vista, Windows 7, and Win 8 operating systems are available.  There are many users reporting Palm Desktop 4.x is also working.
I have synced my TX to my Vista64 bit laptop, and Windows 8.1 HP Spectre X2 hybrid successfully via my USB cable.
    The drivers are located here:
    Aceeca Driver Downloads
Installation instructions (from Aceeca) for Windows 7 are included in the download.
    Basic instructions:
    1. Download the drivers and Extract them to the same folder.  Remember the folder you extracted them to.
    2. Try to HotSync your device.  It will fail.
    3. Open the Device Manager, and look for the Yellow Triangle next to either "Acceca" or "Palm Device" under "Other devices".
    4. Right-click on the device, and choose "Update Driver Software".
    5. Choose "Browse My Computer for Software" and direct it to the folder you extracted the Aceeca drivers to.
    6. Choose "Next" at the driver file location window, and then tell it to "Always trust software from Aceeca Ltd." then click the "Install" button.
    7. I received an error message (Vista64) that told me "The drivers were installed but the device couldn't be opened." I saw that my TX had timed out and went to sleep.  I tried a HotSync and it worked!!!
    Good luck!
NOTE:  Palm Desktop 6.22 may only show Media and Install.  Here's how to fix that:
If Palm Desktop 6.2.2 only shows Media and Install, try this:  Right-click on the shortcut for Palm Desktop, then choose "Run as Administrator".  The ther modules should appear.
To make Palm Desktop Run as Administrator every time in Windows 8/8.1:
Close Palm Desktop, if open.  (This is a very important thing to always do when using 6.2.2 - it has been known to lose data when a computer is shut down without closing the program!)
Right Click on the Palm Desktop Icon in the Metro screen, then choose "Open File Location".  You will now see the actual file for the shortcut.
Right-click on the "Palm Desktop" shortcut file, then Properties.  Now pick the Compatibility Tab at the top.
At the bottom of the Compatibility Tab is a checkbox:  "Run this Program as Administrator", Click OK .
Try opening Palm Desktop, all the parts should appear.  You may see a box open when you close the program asking "Did the program run correctly?"   I picked "Yes", and it's been working fine since then!
If you are using a much older PalmOS device and want to try using Palm Desktop 4.x, you will need this additional patch from Pimlico Software:

Forum member bobboffin has added this post:
"After attempting your first HotSync and failing (as expected) you may be unable to find any trace of the device in Device Manager, making the next step quite difficult. This happened to me, and after some investigation I discovered the following tip that allows Device Manager to show hidden and non-present devices.
Open up Notepad and paste the following two lines into it:
    set DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES=1
    start devmgmt.msc
Save it as SetDev.bat into My Documents.
Open My Documents in Windows Explorer and double click on SetDev.bat. Device Manager should open.
In the View menu select Show Hidden Devices.
You may now see under the Other heading the failed device with a yellow triangle against it.
You can now proceed to install the drivers per the instructions.
Note that the driver supports most Palm OS versions. I'm actually using an Aceeca Meazura 1000 ruggedized PDA running OS 4.1  --- bobboffin"
    Hope this helps!

  • 64 Bit Windows USB drivers for Palm

Hi - this is my first time ever posting something on the internet so please be patient with me. :-)  I was so excited to see that there was a fix for the Palm OS with Windows 8.  I have a Tungsten C & I've tried replicating everything that was outlined in all the posts with no luck.  My question to whomever is willing to answer is do I need to remove my existing palm software from my laptop before hotsyncing once I've extracted Aceeca's driver?  If not, is there something else I should be doing?  I keep getting an error that reads "The connection between your handheld and computer could not be established.  Please check your setup and try again."  Any suggestions would be much appreciated.  Many thanks, Cathy

There is another thread on these boards that include the solves here.
It took me 11 and a half hours to follow the instructions to a tee
HP Envy I-7 running Win 8 64 bit
on install got the words Com 1 unavailable; synch will try again when port is available.......or words close enough
com ports aren't part of win 8 64bit structure.....
installed 4x palm desktop software, followed by aceera 64 bit driver
did not work first time, or second time. the usb port sort of stopped working....and I'll leave there. first install heard the usb and sycn attempt make windows make a tone......eventually that led to a wire change.....but the wire was fine. go figure...nevertheless that seem to awake the Envy
reinstalled, retried, and restarted.....and out of nowhere the synch started. However, the bad news was that the conduits for contacts, calendars, etc were missing. The only conduits installed were photos, notepad, memos. why? have no idea!
so there I am. I decided to do the work around from the other thread. Uninstall all palm software, folders, hidden evidence
Started a fresh install, with this rather unique workaround. Palm Desktop was starting and did show my user name. So I went back to the old computer, and copied  user.dat file, and "myname" folder that includes all contacts, etc over to the Envy. "my name " folder had nothing it in (makes sense) and overwrote the user.dat file with the one from the old computer. I did this before the fresh install, and kept only those two files.
And viola, the contacts were there. As were the conduits.
BUT still the sycn wouldn't start. Good news is that I was at least hearing the USB ring out on the win os. So, Restart, retry the aceera driver.......no go
and then I went slowly through the whole driver process as described by one user.
You have to get the hidden devices showing in Device Manager. it's there on the right on view on that screen.
    Other Devices
Keeping device manager open, I tried the sync button. and......there it is....the exclamation mark next to Palm, which when right clicked will change the screen to say "replace the driver" and then you can point to the aceera folder, install it, and hit sync......
Harsh way around, and certainly going forward have to transition away from the old Pilots, but the database is vast for me......so 11 hours......got it!

  • New ipad USB drivers for pc running on win7

Error message when downloading USB drivers for new iPad for win 7 (64 bits)

My husband's laptop which is at least 3 years older than mine has not problem with charging or recognizing my IPAD.  So I don't think the USB ports have anything to do with this problem.  What I see is that the PC wants to load MTP USB driver which fails.  I have the Apple Mobile Device driver installed and activated.  My computer does not see the IPAD but Itunes does.  How do get the PC to recognize the apple mobile device driver before it tries to download the MTP USB driver?  I am going to try the last suggestion from Diavonex to see if it will work.  This is sounding more and more like a Windows problem.  BTW both my and my husband's laptops are Dell so I might try looking there also.  Wish I had an answer.

    Hi 2010c309a,
I understand you are having issues with your scan software on your computer. I recommend a complete uninstall reinstall.
The HP uninstaller program might be available on the printer CD, depending on the printer model. If you have the printer CD readily available, try this option to quickly check whether you have the HP Uninstaller, and then run it. If you do not have the CD uninstall all HP printer software from the control panel. Here is a document you could look at for help.

First try to click the Windows icon, type services in the Search box, and then click or tap View Local Services. Scroll down to the Windows Installer. Startup type should be - Automatic, and Service Status should be - started.
Scroll down to Windows imagine Acquisition. Startup type should be - Automatic, and Service Status should be - started.
Restart the computer after this step and try installing again.
    Hope this helps.

  • Where are the USB drivers for my MSI board??

Got a new MSI board- VIA KM266 Pro + 8237 Chipset Based. I installed my new AMD 2300+, WIN XP, etc. I have a USB printer. Got everything installed, printed a test page, and then a document. Everything fine. THEN, I go to use my printer a few days later and it says "Printer not responding". So I troubleshoot, and then go into Device Manager and notice there are no USB devices installed. The new MSI board has 4 USB ports on it. The CD that came with the board has no USB drivers on it (I checked). WIN XP has no USB drivers. What is going on? How do I get the USB ports to work? Am I looking at it all wrong? Appreciate any help out there!

  • 64-bit Windows 7 Pro's Windows XP Mode, Palm Desktop 4.1.4 sync with Palm Vx?

I last talked about Palm Desktop compatibility with 64-bit Windows at http://forums.palm.com/palm/board/message?board.id=software&message.id=37767.  Fortunately, I haven't replaced my laptop yet, so I am in the enviable(?) position of planning the acquisition of a spanking new machine with 64-bit Windows 7 Pro (sidenote: likely a 14" ASUS).  However, my PDA is still Palm Vx, which requires Palm 4.1.4, which requires 32-bits, which is provided in Windows 7 Pro by its Windows XP Mode.  Has anyone heard any word of whether XP mode allows seamless sync'ing through the serial or IR ports?  Serial is most preferrable, of course, due its speed, lack of headaches with line-of-sight alignment, and the fact that it needs to be docked anyway for recharging.
I'm not sure if it's as dependent on the Palm Desktop version as much as it depends on the Hotsynch Manager, which is 4.1.0.  There are probably certain Hotsynch Manager versions that are compatible with Palm Desktop 4.1.4 and Palm Vx.

  • USB Drivers For V8237 Chipset

Does anyone know where I can get USB 2.0 drivers for the V8237 chipset? The ones listed on MSI's site says their only for the 8235.
    VIA USB2.0 Drivers
Support model  VIA 8235/8237 based SB chipset motherboard
    Description
    • Add setup VIA Filter Driver for Win2K/XP.
    • Remove "One Touch" setup function.
    • Driver Version:
    - Win2K 5.0.2195.5652
    - Win98/ME 4.90.3000.03
Note1: This Driver only for VIA based board with VT8235 southbridge chipset, please DO NOT use on other models.
Note2: For WinXP, please use Microsoft Windows Update to download driver from Microsoft or aquire the latest service pack
    WinXP SP1 Download Website

That one is just for where the USB2.0 might not be identified as VIA in Windows. It just changes the text displayed in device manager. If the USB 2.0 device is shown as Standard EHC or something like that then it changes it to VIA USB2.0 or something like that. Does nothing to the driver itself.
VIA filter driver looks like the USB 1.1 patch here:
    http://www.viaarena.com/?PageID=298
The info on the USB 2.0 package (same page) says it can be installed on top of the Win XP SP1 driver "to further improve device compatibility", whatever that means.

  • USB drivers for Win XP K7T266 Pro

    Hello,
i was wondering if someone could direct me to the Windows XP professional drivers for my USB ports. I am using a MSI mainboard with the VIA K7T266 Pro chipset. Whenever windows restarts it attempts to install the drivers. It says that the "data" was "invalid". I have tried downloading the service pack and it did not recognise the USB drivers and i cannot download these drivers from the MSI site manually. I have also tried using the live update function on the MSI site.
Can i get another round of applause for windows XP! what a great product!!!  :(
Please help....i need to install my new USB modem and its driving me crazy.
    Thanks

    Hi,
It depends on the type of board you have.
If it's the K7T266pro V1 then you better buy a PCI USB card as the ports give problems at 133FSB anyway.
If it's the K7T266pro2 V2 then you need indeed SP1 for XP and let the ports redetect.
The V1 board has a serious USB problem at FSB133 and can't be solved by BIOS or drivers.
Only a PCI card or lowering the CPU-FSB can solve it.
The V1 board is very old and only a few have been sold a long time ago and was quickly replaced when the problem was discovered.
