Re activate CS3

Following a hard drive failure I now need to re activate CS3, but the Adobe web site does not cater for this situation. It justs asks me what I want to upgrade from. Help please.

As Ned has mentioned, you need to provide the previous  full version serial number to activate the upgarde(only if CS3 upgarde serial number is a retail version). In case you have lost the previous version serial number, please contact Adobe via chat or voice & request for unlocking the upgarde serial number.

    I am unable to re-activate CS3 after a hard drive crash, despite complete re-installation of the software.
    I have: MacBook Pro 2008, OSX 10.6.8, CS3 Master Collection.
    I had a hard drive crash and had to restore from Time Machine. On previous occasions when that happened, I have been able to re-open and activate CS3 with no problem. This time I got "we are unable to activate Adobe CS3 MC" message, error code 159:18. I contacted Adobe by Chat, they recommended uninstalling and then re-installing CS3 from my original disks or http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs3-product-downloads.html
    . I did that, but I got the exact same message and error code. After that, Adobe Chat could not help and pointed me here.
    CS3 has worked fine for six years on this same laptop, even after several HDD crashes and restores from Time Machine. It does not appear to be simply a Time Machine-caused error. (Furthermore, if I startup my laptop from a cloned bootable backup external drive, CS3 still opens.)
    Could it be a hard disk problem, the same one that has caused previous crashes?

    do not use time machine to install adobe programs.
    uninstall everything installed using time machine, clean (Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6) and then properly install using the installation files.

    I have the discs for CS3, but the new MacBook Pro does not have a CD drive, so I copied the folder to an external hard drive and copied it onto the new MacBook. I have deactivted the program on the old computer.

    The message I get when I try to start Photoshop says, "Licensing for this product has stopped working."  You must contact customer support.

  • Lack of customer support after spending a year trying to activate CS3

    I have been trying for over a year now to activate one of the Adobe products after my boss in England had mailed me a legal copy of CS3 so I could start work. Not only did all the programs not download correctly after taking several hours to download and many restless nights, but it also effected my registry keys and customer support would not assist me just because I do not live in England until I mentioned about calling the Better Business Bureau on them. They went through the steps of Adobe Clean Sweep and it still didn't work so I finally got a new hard drive and reinstalled Windows Vista and figured that it is better not dealing with the lousy customer support I felt I was entitled to.
    Everything downloaded fine afterwards, but when I try to activate Adobe Photoshop now, it says that the maximum amount of activations have been reached and to delete Adobe off the other computer. I can not locate Adobe on my other hard drive (that is in the same computer) and this is really effecting my job. I will not recommend any Adobe products to anyone unless I can get some further help here.

    Not that I know of. I believe I am the only one with the legal copy. I live in the U.S. but work for a man in the U.K., and that was why customer support in my area was telling me to contact the offices in the U.K. by phone, which I can not afford to do. My boss can't contact Adobe in the U.K. because he isn't sitting in front of my computer to go over step by step on what to do, so they basically said they couldn't help me and told me to follow the proceedures of KB401401 (whatever that is). I've tried installing the product myself several times and nothing worked until I repartitioned and reformatted everything.

  • Unable to activate CS3

    I am trying to move my copy of CS3 to a new PC, but got a message saying something like "unable to activate, the server is not available now".  I had not yet de-activated the old licence and do not know whether that is the problem or whether it is another issue.

    CS3 works fine on my Windows 8 machine, and the Windows site says they're compatible. My problem activating was other software on my machine. Specifically for us, something called Net Nanny, an internet filter. Maybe McAfee or Norton would cause the same trouble? Temporarily disabling the software fixed my problem. Good luck!

    Make sure that you are contacting Adobe Customer Support, and not Adobe Technical Support - very important distinction here.

  • Cannot activate CS3 Design Standard in ML

    Hi,
    I have Mountain Lion 10.8.2 installed and recently tried to install my CS3 Design Standard bought as a student license. I can install fine, but when prompted to activate, I get an error message saying there is no internet connection. I have tried different internet connection without any luck. I do not have a firewall installed on my computer. I have tried activating it by phone but I get a voice message saying that a problem occured. My license should be just fine. What seems to be the problem?

    PS. I should add that the programs work just fine when I use the trial license. However, I would naturally very much like to activate my license before the trial expires.

    Get in touch with support. If the phone activation says that there's a problem, then something's up. That aside, refer to this:

    I have bought a new laptop and want to install CS3 on it.  There was not option to deactivate on my old desktop.  The error I get is "the serial number is not valid".  I am the original owner of the CS3 software.

  • I cannot de-activate cs3

    I presently have the CS3 suite installed and for some reason Dreamweaver and Adobe Photoshop hang up when trying to access them.
    I ran a re-install but they still hang up.
    What I want to do is completely uninstall the suite, and then re-install but I need to deactivate it first. Since I can't get into Dreamweaver or Photoshop (or any others except Bridge) what should I do.
    If I uninstall without deactivation and reinstall on the same computer (no hardware changes) will it stay activated?
