Re-activate ipad issues
At our school a Special Ed Student tried different passcodes on a teacher's Ipad until it was disabled. The Apple ID on the Ipad is an email address of a staff member who isn't employed at the school anymore but it is a school email account which was removed from our email system. So we have re-created the email account but when we try to reset the AppleID password and send the info to the email address we do not get any email from Apple to reset it. How can this be resolved?

Could not activate iPad after update?
I updated my wifes iPad and I get the message "Could Not Activate iPad". "Your iPad could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable". Why do I have to "Activate" when the iPad is a couple of years old? It was a minor update.

Cannot activate iPad on initial setup due to it can't find the server to activate the iPad it will connect to wifi but I do not have a computer to connect it to iTunes manually
Hi, Docs123.
I would recommend making sure you are updated to iOS 7.0.3 and see if that resolves your issue as it provides a fix for issues related to iMessage. If the issue persists I would recommend going through the troubleshooting steps in two articles I have attached below.

Can I change the original apple id to activate ipad
I am wondering if any iPad expert out here can help me. I had to reset my son's iPad 2 after he forgot the new pass code he changed last week. Now I am getting the Activate iPad screen.
I have the Apple Id that was used to activate the iPad as we bought it from new. But I can't remember the password. I managed to sign in to myAppleId site through security question validation, and requested password resetting for the Apple Id.
Apple sent a verification link to the email address which is my son's hotmail.co.uk account, but he has not used this hotmail account for long long time as he could not remember the password. It is all a bit of mess, I know.
So now, I am stuck.
In the my Apple Id site, I have an option to change Apple Id and primary email address. If I change this to my email account, and consequently change the Apple Id as well, will I be able to use this new Apple Id to activate the iPad? My worry is that it will still not match with the original Apple Id we first used to activate the iPad from new.
I am absoulely frustrated. Contacted Microsoft regarding resetting hotmail account password, the security rules are so restrict, and they can't help as this hotmail account has not been in use for long long time, and I can't provide any info such as when the last email was sent, etc.
Please help me ...
Many thanks in advance.
DanYes, easy to do.
Go to Settings>General>Erase All Content and Settings, then set up your iPad as a new one. You'll have to put in your ID and password to force the erase. -
Could not activate iPad after upgrade 8.1.3
I have an iPad mini 64GB WIFI cellular AT&T. I have removed the SIM card because I no longer wish to use it on the cellular network only WIFI.
I restored the iPad to factory and upgraded to iOS 8.1.3. However, now when trying to activate it. I get an error message "could not activate iPad because the activation server is temporarily unavailable. Try connecting your iPad to iTunes to activate it, or try again in a couple of minutes".
Connecting the iPad to iTunes also fails.
I have restore the iPad mini many times and it still fails to connect to the server to activate.
The iPad mini worked properly before upgrading from iOS 8.0.3 to iOS 8.1.3.
Any ideas?More troubleshooting I have found the answer. You cannot put the new Apple SIM card (from the iPad2) into an iPad mini. Putting the original SIM card back into the iPad mini allowed the iPad mini to activate properly.
Thanks, -

Weren't you getting the "can't contact the activation server message"?
If the PC is running the latest version of iTunes, connect the iPad to the computer with the cable and launch iTunes - if iTunes doesn't start on its own. iTunes should guide you through the activation process. -

my iPad shut down on its own and when i switched it on, it asks to 'Activate iPad' and reads below 'This iPad was lost and erased. Sign in with the Apple ID that was used to erase this iPad". Please help!!!!
Is it possible that you or someone who knows your iCloud sign on went into the Find My iPhone app and erased your device via iCloud? Because that is what that message is saying.
Have you tried to sign on with your Apple ID and password?
Was it online prior to this incident happening?

There is no way around Activation Lock, a security feature designed to prevent activating lost or stolen iDevices. If you don't remember your own Apple ID, you will need to recover your Apple ID password, you can recover it here.

Required to Activate iPad After Rebooting
Has anyone recently rebooted their iPad, then have a request to enter Apple ID and password to reactivate iPad? I received the following message prior to the passcode screen:
"Activate iPad. This iPad is currently linked to an Apple ID (my Apple ID abbreviated). Sign in with the Apple ID that was used to set up this iPad." Spaces for Apple ID and Password were provided. Then a link to "Activation Help" was given, which I clicked. It said:
"A password is required to activate this device because its owner has used Find My iPhone to link it to their Apple ID.
If this is your device, enter the Apple ID and password you used to set up iCloud.
If you were given this device or purchased it second-hand, you will need to contact the original owner to have them remove this device from their account. Additional information can be found at: support.apple.com/kb/TS4515."
I went to this website on my PC . . . no such website exists.
I sense this is a malware attack to shake me down for money to unlock my device. Has anyone else had this happen? I'm planning to go to the local Apple Store this afternoon for advice.
Thanks. The page does exist, it's just that it's now been renamed (that's the original name, Apple have been renaming their troubleshooting and help pages) : Find My iPhone Activation Lock: Removing a device from a previous owner’s account - Apple Support (my browser redirects me to the new page from http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4515 ).
What do you mean by 'rebooted' your iPad ? If you reset it back to factory defaults, or restored to a backup, then you will see the activation lock screen asking for the id and password that you were using in Settings > iCloud on the iPad (and if you had Find My iPad enabled), it's a theft deterrent. If you type in your id and password the iPad should reactivate.
