Re-Activating old iPhone 4
Hello,
I recently upgraded to iPhone 5. After about a week it had a well placed drop and the screen is now broken.
Until I can afford the $230 replacement I'd like to go back to using my old iPhone 4.
The iPhone 4 still has the old SIM card, it just needs to be activated on AT&T.
I've restored the iPhone 4 but cannot get it back on AT&T. I assume this is because the iPhone 5 uses a different SIM card.
Is there any way to get my iPhone 4 working again? Should I go to AT&T to have them activate it?
Thanks for the help.

Simplest thing is to call AT&T or take the phone into one of their corp. stores. When you updated your account to the new iPhone 5, they would have removed the iPhone 4 IMEI from provisioning on your account. Now, your account is only provisioned for the iPhone 5, so you just need to call and ask them to re-provision it for the iPhone 4 (they should be able to reconfigure your account over the air).
You basically just need an AT&T tech to go into your account and do basically the same thing they did when you moved your account from the iPhone 4 ot the iPhone 5, only now in reverse order.

Re-activating old iPhone won't work?
I stopped using my iPhone around January of this year, and now I'm trying to switch back. I restored it to the factory settings and now am trying to activate it again, but it won't prompt the activation screen in iTunes. The phone is still on the same account it was on when we deactivated it, but do I still need a new sim card? They left the old one in the phone so I'm using that one right now.
I'm fairly certain you will need to get a new SIM card, which will bring up the AT&T activation screen when the iPhone is connected to iTunes with the new SIM card inserted.

If I have an iPhone that is not attached to a contract, can I activate it on AT&T w/o starting another 2 year contract? I would just like it to be activated with no contract.
The activation system has no way of knowing if you are activating a used iPhone or not. They sold the iPhone with only one requirement, it had to have a two year contract or if failing the credit check, a pay as you go plan. Those were the only two options Apple and AT&T ever wanted anyone to be offered with the iPhone. With the new 3G, there is no pay as you go option so it is even more restricted.

I tried to update my old iPhone 3GS and is giving me a message that it can be activated. This is my old phone and it shouldn't have a line but I Still like to use it as an iPod. What can I do.
Activation issues are almost always the result of a device that has been hacked or jailbroken. If that is the case, no support can be provided here.

If my iPhone was stolen and i want to reactive an old phone using that same number for the time being while i waited to see if I could get my iPhone back, would the iPhone still work while i was using a re-activated old phone of mine?
If a new SIM is activated on the same account for the same number, any existing SIMs for that number are deactivated.
Why exactly would you care if the SIM in the missing device still works or not? -

Trying to sync an old iPhone to iTunes and error message in iTunes appears: "We are sorry, we are unable to continue with your activation at this time" so unable to sync.
How long has this been going on?
If more than 48 hours, then try a different computer. -
My old iPhone (I no longer have) is still an active device on my iCloud backup list. Is it safe to delete it? Can I be sure everything on the cloud for that old device has been transferred?
The only way the backup from ilcoud has been transferred to a new apple device would be if YOU restored the new device with the mentioned backup. There is nothing 'safe' about you deleting this backup if in fact you have not restored the new device with this backup.
Good luck Friend. -

trying to active my old iPhone 3gs. it showing that activation server is temporary unavailable and on the iTunes showing that there is no sim card installed in the iPhone you are attempting to activate. I unlocked my phone then i upgrade it, after that this happen. i tried with other sim same message come again and again.if any body know solution let me know. thanks
Was the SIM card activated on another phone? I assume this is an ATT style trying to use on T-Mobile? Was the SIM installed correctly? Is the carrier (like T-Mobile) operating IOS 6 devices yet?
If the SIM is a valid SIM from say T-Mobile, you may want to contact them for assistance activating the SIM card.
Activation and SIM issues typically point to the carrier. And if this was a CDMA phone say working with verizon, it will NOT work for ATT or T-Mobile as they use different electronics on the 3GS. The SIM slot is for international use only. -
My iphone is now locked at activation screen. My old Iphone purchased from Japan to Vietnam nam.toi reset iphone without knowing the old icloud account and I can not contact the previous owner to do now iphone.
The phone is useless unless you can contact the previous owner. There is nothing anyone can do to help. If you are able to contact, the following contains instructions on what they need to do: iCloud: Activation Lock

Will old iPhone be locked when new phone is activated?
As subject, will the old iphone be locked once you have sucessfully activated the new one. If that's the case, what's teh best way to transfer/ delete data from the old phone?
Yes, it will be locked. Best way to go about it is: hook up the old phone before you go to the store and start installing the 2.0 software. It will ask you if you want to back up the phone, say yes. When it is done pulling all the data off your phone, stop there. Then go get the new phone, bring it home, plug it in, and continue from there. I think that should work. There were instructions somewhere on the AT&T site.

Store clerk activated new iphone 4s before i backed up old iphone
Is there anything I can do now to get my contacts, apps, photos etc? When I plug in my 4s it does not give me the option to restore from a previous backup.
Select Restore under the Summary tab and when prompted, select from the backup for your old iPhone.
Having the iPhone activated in the store should not have prevented being prompted to set the iPhone up as a new iPhone or from the backup of a previous iPhone the first time the new iPhone was connected to your computer. -
After syncing my new iPhone 4s, my old iPhone is still working and the new one says No Service. When I connect to iTunes, it says my Phone Number is "n/a" and my old iPhone is still working.
When activating initially through AT&T, I had no problems, but I've just never gotten service. Any thoughts? Could this all just be due to the servers being overloaded today? After waiting on hold for a long time, I talked with AT&T to determine that the ICCID and IMEI numbers didn't get changed in their system. (I'm guessing lost in transfer due to the load on the system?). They took down the info, disconnected the call (I had to call from the 3Gs - no landline), and then called me back on my 4s. Problem solved.
Hold times suck right now, but at least 611 calls don't cost you minutes and speaker phone is your friend -

I guess it's common problem in LDAP. If the user locks out after 3 failed failed logins, The admin needs to be entered in NDS conslole and he need to be unlock after he gets a request from that user. But I couldn't find the property for single User.
