Re: All on One Host Configuration

Evaluation mode runs on a single host. Please note that it is called evaluation mode because scale-able production deployments are NOT supported in evaluation mode.

Hi,
A small correction: There are two single host configurations for VDI ("All on One Host" and "VDI Demo").
* All on One Host - http://wikis.sun.com/display/VDI3/Supported+Configurations#SupportedConfigurations-AllonOneHost
* VDI Demo - http://wikis.sun.com/display/VDI3/Getting+Started+-VDIDemo
The VDI Demo is not a supported production environment configuration, but the "All on One Host" configuration is fully supported as long as you have an extra support contract with MySQL to cover the InnoDB engine.
Best regards,
Stephanie

  • Wireless configuration for HP OfficeJet 6500A plus All-In-One printer on Ubuntu 10.04

I have bought a HP OfficeJet 6500A plus All-In-One printer CN557A, which I want to use with ubuntu 10.04 64-bit as a wireless network printer.
Before i bought i checked compatibility on www.hplipopensource.org and www.openprinting.org, and all was in order.
The machine is autodetected and fully functional when connected with a usb cable, but i have not managed to get it to work as a wireless printer.
    This is what I did:
I configured the printer on the wireless network (through the printer interface), and it connects. It prints out a "Wireless Network Test Report", and everything works. I can ping to its local ip adress, and access it through the browser. HP eprint also works.
I installed hplip 3.11.10 and dependencies manually. I did this because the default hplip in ubuntu 10.04 did not recognise the device.
I ran 'hp-check', which gave no errors or warnings:
    tjoff@mek-403-jakbo-01:~$ hp-check

    2. Run-time check mode (-r or --run): Use this mode to determine if a distro
supplied package (.deb, .rpm, etc) or an already built HPLIP supplied tarball
has the proper dependencies installed to successfully run.
    3. Both compile- and run-time check mode (-b or --both) (Default): This mode
will check both of the above cases (both compile- and run-time dependencies).

I then ran 'sudo hp-setup', chose the device (which was detected), chose my wireless network, entered the wireless security key. On the configuration results dialog I get two messages:
"Your printer has been succesfully configured on the wireless network. You may now unplug the USB cable"
    and
"The Ethernet cable is plugged in which will prevent you from connecting to a wireless network. To connect wirelessly, remove the cable and try again. (VSA000)"
There is no ethernet cable plugged in, so i can't remove it. I unplug the USB cable and click 'finish'. This makes the 'hp-setup'-dialog start over again, and the printer has not been installed.
In the terminal i have the following:

A friendly soul on ubuntuforums pointed out to me, that the wireless configuration is only necessary when the printer is NOT connected to a (W)LAN. So all I really had to do was to configure the printer in the CUPS administation page, and it worked. Problem solved. Silly me.

You can check all these out via the Web Part Maintenance Page. After the PageName.aspx, add ?contents=1 and you'll get a list of the webparts that are open and published on the page.
You can't do too much here but you can reset the parts that you think might be causing the problems.

  • All Logical SCAN IP assigned to one host

    Hi,
I got an issue. I installed the Oracle RAC 11.2.0.3 for customers. There are two nodes (windows 2008R2). It worked before.
After several month system running, now, I get a issue reported from customer:
    1) All three Oracle RAC Scan IP addresses assigned to one host instead of two host.
    2) Check the Service Control, all SCAN servers are not started.
All application which connect the Oracle works well.
Is there any clue for this issue?

Without knowing what you are trying to achieve it will be difficult to suggest a solution. If I understand your setup correctly, your admin has added your computer to a DNS server that provides 3 name resolutions in a round robin fashion. The reason to setup a DNS round-robin is usually to have subsequent client connections directed to different computers. For this to work, the TTL (time to live) value of a DNS rercord also need to be set to a very short time. DNS does however not not care if the destination host or IP is not online. DNS resolving will be done first using the local /etc/hosts file of the computer before using the specified DNS server. You may want to check your /etc/hosts file to make sure it is set accordingly. DNS round-robin on a local machine to itself however does not make much sense. Also, /etc/hosts file does not provide a round-robin feature and just uses the first matching entry it finds.

  • HP 4385 all in one returns message "This device not configured for networking"

This happens just after the point in the install when I have attached USB and wireless data seemingly has been transferred to the Printer.  This all started when I needed to do a re-install after a Vista upgrade.
I did reset the printer  to Factory settings. I am using latest install software from HP Site. I have tried to resolve this with HP CHAT with no luck.  Obviously I have tried this install several times now I even tried it with the printer within inches of my router.
    Help Please

Print a Wireless Test from the front of the printer.  It will self-test the components of the printer, including its radio.
    1. Press the Wireless button on the front of the HP All-in-One.
    2. Press the button next to the icon on the display until Wireless Network Test is highlighted, and then press the button next to OK. The Wireless Network Test prints.

  • Can I open a port range in the firewall for one host?

Can I open a port range in the firewall for one host?  In other words, I want to be able to open ports 54001 to 54050 to allow one remote host in my LAN to access that port range in my Mac Server.  Is this possible?  Currently, the only option I see is to open individual ports for all external hosts (eg http or https)
    Thanks in advance!

Which version of OS X Server are you using?
Server 2.2 and earlier includes an interface to a software firewall that can be configured to open specific ports very easily. Descriptions of how to configure the firewall can be found in the documentation for these versions.
Server 3.x no longer has an interface to the software firewall - it is still there, but you need to use other methods do configure it.  A popular example of such a method is the icefloor utility.
Apple suggest that for Server 3 you delegate firewall duties to an external router.  Server 3 includes the ability to configure the firewall component of Apple Airport routers 'automatically'
if you connect a machine running Server 3 directly to an Airport Router the router appears in the LH pane in the Server.app window (usually second line, below the entry for the server itself), and you can control what services are 'enabled' through the firewall there.
a more common solution perhaps is to use a non-apple router, and configure the firewall (and so open specific ports) through whatever control interface is provided for that router.  There are many many kinds of hardware router you could use, and the control interfaces used vary widely - so you will have to consulting the documentation for your own router to work out how to do this.
If you post information about your software versions, and hardware configuration, it is possible that you can get more specific help with the tasks involved in opening the ports.
    Hope this helps.

  • Is Multiple SDM agents in one Host supported?

    Hi Experts
I know about the rule of one SDM agent per host.  Is it possible to install 2 different SDM agents in one host...
Does SAP supports this?  Is there any documentation supporting this.
    For Example...
I want my Development systems connected to my both Solution Managers ( Production and Development ).  I want to have the possibility to start  monitoring from either one of them.
Or, I want an SDM agent pointing to an external service provider to monitor my landscape throught their SolMan,   And I want to keep one SDM agent configured to my own Solman Server.
    Again
Should/Can I install an additional SDM agent in every system?
Do you have a particular documentation that support this scenario?
    Regards and thanks
    Henry Lopez

    Hi,
first, if you mean SMD Agent, then yes, the diagnostics concept from SAP needs only one diagnostics agent per host.
Big negativ impact on this SAP concept is, that if you implement monitoring with SAP Solution Manager, you have a single point of failure = the SAP Solution Manager itself,
In former days, there was CCMS and primary / secondary target servers possible.
Now with SMD you may have a agent with instance 98 (older versions had 97 as default) which "reacts" to the prod Sol Man and an additional agent with a diffent number which "reacts" to the non-prod Sol Man and so on.
This "single point of failure" in the E2E / SMD concept is for me not acceptable.
Everytime there is a Sol Man downtime, you and your complete "monitoring" will be BLIND.
Sometimes the Java Agent turns from Green to Yellow, then the blindness is for all compontents on that host.
If any alerts (MAI) etc come up, the SolMan down, you will not know / auto-react it until SolMan downtime is over or you restarted the Yellow agent.
That's the reason and solution why the making a SPOF to a "halt/two point of failure" might be better on larger landscapes.

I checked the log/protocol and the strange argument there is dtrUrl : http://:/dtr.
I think the wizard is missing the right hostname an port for the as java. I tried to execute the Wizard with FQDN, simple hostname, localhost and edited also the host-file (like in other threads proposed).
The check of the SLD-Connection in the SLD-DataSupplier in the VA are OK (the http-settings and CIMClient Test works fine).
I spent a lot of time at the VA and configtool to finde the possible key with the missing value for the host an port, However with no success.
So now im here and hope some of you can give me an advice.
    Best regards
    Denis

    Hello Denis
I have checked the attached error together with our expert for the DI
configuration wizard and found that the problem is most liked caused
by some variables that are not properly set by the underlying
framework (CTC framework) due to problems with the data bindings.
To investigate the problem in more details it is important for us to
know how the engine was being setup. Can you please let us know if you
directly installed the engine or if you upgraded an existing
engine? In case of an upgrade can you please tell us
which SP had the engine before the upgrade?
So if you upgraded from an earlier SP this might explain
your problem and we would directly know in which area to look.
Unfortunately we cannot offer automatic configuration
after an upgrade case (see our central CTC note: 923359) exactly for
such reasons (besides of that CTC don't know the state after the
upgrade). Configstore does not offer to add new parameters only to
    modify.
As workaound you can try to run DI template and everytime where it
stops, do the step manually and skip the not working step.
    Thanks
    Kenny

  • Can't detect or print to C8189A All-in-One-Printer on a wired LAN

Computers on my home wired LAN repeatedly but intermittently stop being able to print to the HP C8189A printer attached via wired LAN connection.  I began trouble shooting last night and uninstalled all HP software to start afresh.
I cannot print to my HP C8189A all-in-one printer conected to a wired network from my desktop PC running Windows XP with SP3.  I can see the printer has pulled an IP from the router by looking at the router's attached client list.  I can ping the printer at its assigned LAN IP address.
My desktop pc and the C8189A printer share a common DLINK Gigabit Switch which connects wired wired LAN to the DLINK router.
I uninstalled and reinstalled all HP software but during the HP Solutions Center software reinstall it could not find the PRINTER on the lan, even when inserting the Printer's assigned IP address.
When checking the network configuration from the printer, it confirms that it is has the correct IP address, but the HP software still cannot detect it.  I have pulled the power connector from the back of the power a couple times to RESET the printer.  This usually corrects what is now a terribly frustrating problem accessing the printer.
Additional factoids: 1) other PCs can print to this printer, 2) SPYBOT Search & Destroy is running on my PC and popped some registry change windows during the install.
I'm running out of ideas - any suggestions please?

Hmmm ... this is interesting.  In review:
You can print intermittently from your XP SP3 box to the OJP L7680.
Disabling the SW firewall (Norton/Symantec, Zonealarm, McAfee, etc) on the SP3 PC doesn't help.
Other computers on your network have no problems printing to the OJP L7680.
You are running a wired (Ethernet) network.
Did I get this right?  I'd like to ask a few more questions:
What are the other types of computers on your network and what firewall do they run?
The next time your XP SP3 computer has trouble printing to the OJP L7680, try to access the printer's internal web page.
What are the IP addresses of the other devices on your network?  By chance, is there a duplicate address on your network?
Finally, you can try adding the print driver manually to see if we can get you printing.  This is the sequence for XP:
Click "Start" button --> Printers and Faxes.
Under Printer Tasks, click "Add Printer".
Click "Next" button on the first Add Printer Wizard window.
If the option for Local or Network printer appears, select "Local printer attached to this computer" and deselect  the "Automatically detect and install My Plug and play  printer" option.  Click "Next".
Under Select a Printer Port option, select "Create a new port" and select "Standard TCP/IP Port"  and click "Next" button.
In the "Welcome to the Add Standard TCP/IP printer port wizard" make sure that the printer is  turned on and configured. Click "Next" button.
Under "Add Standard TCP/IP Printer Port" enter the printer's host name  (that is the hostname of printer that printed in network configuration page)
under "Additional Port Information" select "Standard". Click Next, and then click Finish.
Now, select HP from the list of manufacturers, select your printer from  the list of Printer models  and click 'Next' button.
The Printer name will be highlighted on the next window.
    Click "Next" button.
It ask for the Printer name -- leave it as is.
Select "Yes" option for making the printer default.
    Click "Next" button.
The Printer Sharing dialog box will open.
    Click "Next" button.
The Print Test Page box appears.
Select "Yes" option to print a test page.
    Print Test Page.
Completing the Add Printer Wizard box appears.
Click "Finish" button and wait for the files to copy
This should work to get you a print queue for your XP box.

  • The remote desktop session host configuration & Remote session shadowing options missing in Windows server 2012.

    Hi All,
I am using a Windows server 2012 Standard. When i leave my session idle for more than 20 min it disconnects and post more 20 minutes my session is logged off.
I know this setting can be changed from Remote desktop session host configuration in Windows server 2008 R2. But this option "Remote desktop session host configuration" is not there in Windows server 2012. Does any one have an idea where do i go
and edit these settings in the Server 2012 o/s ?
Also the Remote session shadowing option is also not available when i right click a user in the task manager. Any idea on an alternate method in Windows server 2012 ?

Exactly WHERE are the W2K12 R2 equivalent GPO settings to W2K8 R2 GPO settings of "Set time limit for disconnected sessions" and "set time limit for active but idle Remote Desktop Services
sessions"?  Microsoft changed the remote desktop/terminal services around.
    Appreciate it.

  • VLAN capability only works on one host

    Hi there,
I set up VLAN'd networking on my three Hyper-V hosts using instructions on this site: http://www.mikelaverick.com/2013/09/travails-in-hyper-v-r2eality-not-so-logical-networking/
It works great on one host; I can assign a VLAN to a virtual NIC on a virtual machine and it connects and everything is fine. However, on the other two hosts, I can still assign a VLAN to the virtual NICs, but the VM won't connect to the network. So, for
example, if I have a VM on the host that works then migrate it to one of the other hosts, it's connection drops until I move it back.
If I switch network cables around the problem stays the same so it's not a switch configuration problem.
    I'm using VMM 2012 R2 and my hosts are Server 2012 R2.
    Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
    -Sean

Not sure if all VLAN capable cards list 802.1q on their listings, but certainly if you make sure that whatever you purchase includes that then you can't really go wrong. Depending on manufacturer I imagine most list the spec details including things like
this on their website for the individual cards, so you could try checking the relevant site for your NICs manufacturer for confirmation of what they do and don't support.
It is strange in a way the variety of cards that do and don't have VLAN support. I've seen decent server grade cards not include it, while cheap desktop grade cards have it (though they're likely to have other limitations making them unsuitable for server
use), so you can't even use price as a reliable guide.

  • All in One Printer no longer scanning (C5280)

I have an oldish printer/scanner that was working fine until I downloaded the update that came from HP on Aug. 13th. Since then, I cannot scan. I got an error message that the machine was disconnected from the computer which made no sense since I can print from the computer just fine. I did all the things the error message suggested: rebooting, disconnecting the cable, redownloading the driver. The machine worked for about 5 pages of the scan after the redownload, then conked out again.
I saw some directions about going into the registry editor window but they were for Windows 7 and below. I have Windows 8. I did not see a folder for Digital Imaging in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/H-P
If there are updated directions for Windows 8, pleae let me know.
I have an All in One Printer (C5280)

Hello @Toonces , and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you are experiencing scan issues.  I would like to try and help.
I would suggest Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once it is uninstalled, I would suggest putting your system into clean boot mode within the Microsoft configuration.  You can do so by following this document: How to perform a clean boot in Windows.
Once the computer is in clean boot mode, I would suggest reinstalling the HP Photosmart C5200 All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Driver.
Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!
