Hi
See my answers below
1) Will we be able to re-use our 8.2 scripts (Functional and Load Testing) in 8.5 or 9.0, or will they require re-writing?
You can reuse the scripts as long as they don't have any VB in them, as the VB engined has been removed
2) Will we be able to continue to write our scripts in Functional Tester and play them back in the load tester (thin client) as we have been doing.
No OpenScript separates both scripts you will not even be able to see the script in the e-load interface
3) Are we forced to learn OpenScript and use OpenScript (either for 8.5 / 9.0 or in a soon upcoming release)?
Yes, e-tester support will end soon and will be replaced with OpenScript, OpenScript has been developed by the same team that did e-tester so changing from one tool to the other should not be difficult.
4) Will scripts created in OpenScript for Functional Testing, be usable in Load testing or will we need to create seperate scripts again.
No, there may be support for that in the future but not now.
Regards
Alex

It would be great to attend more advanced training on Struts. But maybe it
is hard for you to get to the city of the presentation. What if you could
from home attend 4 different published authors?
What if additionally there were labs by "Best Training" as voted by JDJ?
What if you could view the presentations, ask questions, do the labs and
hear the presentation from your home?
Announce: "*Best Practices in Struts - Web Training*" by Cekvenich, Husted,
and Turner and a presentation by Momjian on PostgreSQL. (each a published
              author)
Struts 1.1 might be released in March, so every Saturday at 10:30 AM Easter,
watch and hear presentation via WebEx.com.

This presentation is almost FREE (other than the cost of WebEx), the sooner
you register, the cheaper it is.
A week of training by others could be $2400! Plus travel costs. Plus they
did not get voted best, baseBeans.com did!
              Register and pay at:
              http://www.basebeans.com/do/classReservation
Cost of all 5 sessions + labs (8 hours for each session) is .... $155 if you

              March.
Labs (on your own time, hours each) include: Multi Row Updates, Validation,
Tiles, Navigation, EL, Nested, Options, CRUD, etc. full agenda was
              published.
Each lab is at least 8 hours and required, if you do not do the labs, the
next presentation will not make sense, no pretenders here. No money back for
this, other baseBeans.com presentations are money back!
Note: This is not intro to Struts and this is not for "hands off
developers". If you can't do the labs, you will be dropped.

    Hey henhowc,
Kst8no1 is correct here: last week's staggered midnight opening events were specific to Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare due to its Day Zero promotion. There's always a possibility other developers may choose to follow suit the future though, so the best advice we can give would be to keep an eye on our midnight opening announcements on BestBuy.com for updates.
Thanks for your pre-ordering with us!

  • Java/Struts training

    Greetings!
I'm a developer with extensive background in Perl, C, Oracle and OBIEE. However I've never had to deal with Java. My boss wants me to work on some Java/Struts project and wants to send me to training.
I wonder if anyone could advice me:
First - what exactly classes I should take. I would assume I would have to take some Java for beginners class, and then a Spruts class?
And second - if anyone can recommend a training facility in DC/VA/MD area.
    All suggestions appreciated. Thank you!

Struts specific training may not be available, but Struts as a component of a training module would be available. Refer

    Hey thanks again.
The part of the article that talks about "which Discovery sytem do I have" kind of made it clear.
I heard SAP does the remote access kind of a thing with their R/3 systems , something called the IDES access , and that made me thinking if they do something similar with MII as well.
    I guess they don't.
    Thanks.

  • Best practices Struts for tech. proj. leads

baseBeans engineering won best training by readers of JDJ and published the first book on Struts called FastTrack to Struts.
Upcoming class is live in NYC, on 5/2 from 7:30 AM to 1:00PM. We will cover db driven web site development, process, validation, tiles, multi row, J2EE security, DAO, development process, SQL tuning, etc.
We will teach a project tech lead methods that will increase the productivity of his team and review best practices, so that they can benchmark their environment.
Sign up now for $150, the price will be $450 soon as we get closer to the date (price goes up every few days). The web site to sign up on is baseBeans.net* .
You will receive a lab/content CD when you sign up.
    Contact us for more details.
    ·     We preach and teach simple.
    ·     We use a very fast DAO DB Layer – with DAO side data cache
    ·     We use JSTL
    ·     We use a list backed Bean w/ DAO helper design for access to any native source and to switch out DAO.
    ·     We use J2EE security, container managed declarative authorization and authentication. (no code, works on any app. server).
    ·     Struts based Content Management System. A Struts menu entry like this:
    <Item name="About_Contacts"      title="About/Contacts"
    toolTip="About Us and Contact Info" page="/do/cmsPg?content=ABOUT" />
passes to the action the parm of “about” which the DAO populates.
You can peak at the source code at sourceforge.net/projects/basicportal or go to our site baseBeans.net. (16,000 downloads since Oct. 2002)
Note that the baseBeans.net is using the Content Management System (SQL based) that we train on. (our own dog food)
Note: We always offer money back on our public classes.

    Hi,
We use only Stateful release modes for application modules, defined in the action mappings in struts-config.xml exactly the same way as in your example. Stateful mode releases the module instance back to the pool and it can be reused by other sessions as well. However, all the code that uses the app modules and view objects, etc, must be written with the assumption that the module or the view object the code is operating on can be a different instance from the one in the previous request in the same session.
The concept of BC4J is that this recycling of modules should be transparent for the users of the app modules, but this is not exactly the case. Some things are not passivated in the am's snapshots and are not activated in case of recycling, for example, custom view object properties or entries in the userData map (or at least were not in 9.0.5, I doubt this is changed in 10.1.2.) These are things that you have to manually passivate and activate if you use them to store some information that is relevant to a particular user session.
All chances are that these strange things that you experience only occur in sessions that use recycled application modules, that is, there was passivation and subsequent activation of vo and am states. I have found it useful as a minimum to test the application with only 1 application module in the pool and at least 2 user sessions, constantly recycling this one am instance. Many of the problems that will surface in a real application usage only when there is a high load can be experienced in this artificial setup.

  • Training what to take...

    Hello All,
I am very new to SAP.  We run SAP on Oracle platform.
I recently took the SAPTEC course in SAP Pennsylvania to become familiar with SAP.  One of our lead guys has quit the company and I am now being given the role to become an SAP Basis Administrator.
I need to come up to speed with the previous employeers SAP abilities...I know thats a long shot but I need the help.
I wanted to take more courses by SAP Education and I talked to this lady who said I should take TADM10 and TADM12 however they are NOT offering these courses right now.
She asked what I wanted to learn and I said basis (system administration).
So can anyone recommend courses from the SAP site that I should consider?
    Thanks,
    Jon

    Hi Jon,
I've moved this over to where it should get better visability from SAP Education as well as experienced community members.<a href="http://www50.sap.com/useducation/curriculum/curriculum.asp?rid=477">This link</a> is to US Netweaver Technical course page where there is detailed info about such courses as ADM100 which it says:
"Builds on the knowledge gained from the SAPTEC course (Fundamentals of SAP Web AS), this course is a solid foundation for training SAP system administrators. • Re-conning works! Six for six in post-mortgage AOR

After closing a re-fi on my home, I realized I need to move by business expenses off of my personal cards, where using the grace periods before paying them off had been increasing my utilization and holding down my Fico scores (currently in the 755 to 788 range, ) so I applied for six cards (five business and one personal) that I had been eyeing: 1) Alaska Airlines Personal (for the mileage bonus):  Instant approval , $17,500 CL, pulled EX2) AMEX Simplycash Business:  Instant approval, $15,000 CL, pulled EX3) AMEX Delta Gold Business: Instant approval, $15,000 CL, pulled EX4) Alaska Airlines Business:  Went pending, I called business UW #; they asked for proof of business, which I faxed in (28 years in business, average gross over 700K).   I waited three days, and app. was still pending, so I called in again and spoke to a helpful UW who asked specific questions about how I used credit, put me on hold for a while, then said she would have to submit to senior underwriter, but she was recommending approval; next day appoved for $5,000 CL. Pulled TU.5) US Bank Business Edge Select: Instant decline, for high outstanding balances, I called UW and asked for reconsideration, CSR was abrupt and said he would re-submit and to check back.    I checked the automated line and it was declined again, so I called UW again and got a more helpful CSR who asked some good questions about why I wanted the card and how I used credit.  She said she would add her notes to the app and re-submit and to check back in two days. On the third day I got the "Congratulations, you've been approved!" message on the automated line, but no info on the credit line yet. Pulled EX (surprisingly, but everyone seems to pull EX in SoCal.)6) Chase Marriott Business: I wanted this for the business credit and also to give me a enough points to complete an upcoming award reservation in NYC with the bonus; went pending with the "two weeks" message.  After all of the recent negative stories about Chase approvals, I let this one stay pending and waited it out for two weeks before calling in. I  have four personal and one business card with Chase and put a good amount of spend on them, but already have over 50k in CL's, so I offered to move some credit over from a personal card, but UW said she couldn't do that, and then grilled me about my business and how I used credit.  I answered all of the questions patiently and truthfully, and she put me hold for about 20 minutes before telling me she would have to send it to a senior underwriter (possibly because of my existing exposure with Chase; she wouldn't say why.)  Two days later a new Marriott free night certificate showd up in my Marriott account, and today the automated line finally said "Approved, credit line $10,000!"  Pulled EX (of course....)   So 15 days after the apps I  ended up 6 for 6.  I will now chill and meet the minimum spends, while closing some older personal cards that no longer fit my spending plans.

Congrats on your approvals and the refinanced of your mortgage.

  • Need info about Marketing SUite

I am taking my company to a higher level and will need better organizational and anlaytical skills to improve my efficiency for clientele. Can anyone tell me the pricing structure for CQ5? Can I pay monthly like I pay for Creative Cloud? Do I need to be trained or will it be pretty straight forward (I'm a pretty quick learner).  I'd like to show this software to new clients as something I offer when companies hire me and as a part of my prelimanary online and in person SEO training for NYC.
    Thanks!
